These highly sensitive speakers make them a perfect combo with a factory radio, but if you really want to hear them perform, pair them with an aftermarket amp.

Features

Tweeter Mounting: The tweeters are packaged in flush mount housings. The housings can also be pried apart using a small flat blade screwdriver (not included), then surface mounted. When surface mounted, the flush mount flange remains around the perimeter of the housing, leading me to recommend flush mounting the tweeters.

Q
How can I cut the lip off the tweeter?
paul  Feb 25, 2018

A
I'm not sure. I never got around to installing the tweeters in my Malibu. Too many modifications, I was worried I'd break something.
jeff  Feb 25, 2018
A
I would recommend a Dremel tool. It will be tedious but clean.

Q
Do I need to set the HPF on my Pioneer unit or can I leave it off?
paul  Feb 22, 2018
2 answers
A
Since you ask this question, i assume your radio has separate outputs for speakers and twitters. If your car have separate circuits for speakers and tweeters you should set HPF on and make sure to use the right connections. If it doesn't have separate wiring for speakers and tweeters, i don't think you should put HPF on.

These speakers include a passive crossover. You can leave off any filtering and adjust tone with bass and treble controls, if needed.

Q
What gauge wire is best for hooking up Amp. I have always used 8g and was wondering if that was sufficient. I have a sound ordnance B 17 and SO 1500 mono Amp?
marc  Feb 02, 2018

A
The gauge of wire you need is determined by the amount of amperage your amplifier requires to operate core. Crutchfield supplies a chart and instructions on how to calculate that figure on their website.
peter j.  Feb 05, 2018
A
Yes, I used 8g too because it cans hold high current and heat.
sidney  Feb 05, 2018
A
Upon further review of your amp it is 500 rms at 2 ohms and 300 at 4 8 gauge would be ok but pushing it only recommend if on a tight budget but even if you don't need the 0 gauge now you never know if you'll want to upgrade later if so all you d have to do is switch out your amp or sub and not have to re wire everything
josh  Feb 05, 2018
A
8 gauge for 1500 rms is really not ok I highly recommend 0 gauge all the way but 4 gauge will do it but 8 will get hot and melt possibly your amp connections and don't forget about the big 3 which is bigger gauge alternator wires this will help with head lights dimming if ever an issue youtube is your friend

peter j.  Jan 01, 2018

It's a pair.
amrik  Dec 30, 2017
A
It comes as a pair with a pair of the tweeters as well
benjamin  Dec 30, 2017

It's a pair. It comes with two speakers and two tweeters.

Q
Do you need crossovers for these speakers? I don't see any included. If there aren't any, can I use the old ones?
vj  Sep 20, 2017

A
These speakers use an inline capacitor style crossover rather than a printed circuit board type. I am running a Kenwood 50w rms x 4 amp with the high pass set at 60hz and have yet to experience any distortion.
peter j.  Sep 27, 2017
A
I didn't use it on these speakers but you can use your old ones. It won't hurts.
sidney  Sep 21, 2017
A
I believe the tweeters had a x-over built in... the bigger speakers are full range I'm pretty sure
jason  Sep 20, 2017
Q
will they crackle when played loudly?
dalton  Apr 16, 2017
2 answers
A
The only way these speakers will make unwanted noise is to connect them to a garbage source. I am running them off of a kenwood 50 watt rms/ channel amp at 80hz high pass crossover and at full power there is no clipping or other distortion whatsoever. In fact, the louder the volume, the better they sound.
peter j.  Apr 24, 2017
A
No

Q
Does this speaker need crossovers?
dallas  Oct 19, 2016
3 answers
A
There is a capacitor inline with the tweeter which provides the high pass crossover point for the tweeters
peter j.  Sep 27, 2017
A
I am not sure about the crossovers. I replaced the speakers which came from the factory on a 2008 Scion xB. I did not replace the factory tweeters as they were working fine. It would have taken some wire splices for the tweeters as they were NOT plug and play like the main speakers were.
stephen  Oct 19, 2016
A
Yes, mine did. I had a few capacitors from other installs that I tried. 14uf seemed to sound the best.
michael  Oct 19, 2016
