About the Jensen DVR700

Alexander H.

The dash cam you can forget

These days, you have plenty of choices when it comes to dash cams, but Jensen's tiny DVR700 is the dash cam for those with subtlety in mind. Smaller than the average garage opener, this ultra-compact camera forgoes a viewing screen in favor of its unobtrusive size, letting you tuck it away nicely in an out-of-the-way spot on your windshield or dash (behind your rearview mirror is recommended). The tiny mounting bracket for the dash cam is backed with a strong adhesive, so you'll want to be confident in where you install it, but removing the camera from the bracket itself is easy. So, feel free to take advantage of its rechargeable battery and use it outside your car.

Use the screen you already have

If you own a car receiver with a video monitor, you can run the included video and power cable from the dash cam to your receiver's video-in connection as well as wiring it to your car battery for power for permanent installation. When you select the video source on your in-dash receiver, you'll see what the camera sees, giving you a sensible approach to the dash cam with an integrated feel. While this permanent approach to installation is recommended, Jensen keeps the camera versatile by also including a cigarette lighter power source so you can swap the camera into another car in a pinch.

In either scenario, the fully automated camera will record from the moment engine is turned on until you turn the car off. Beyond that, you don't need to think about the camera again. Just drive with confidence, knowing the DVR700 is loop-recording a high-res,100-degree wide view of the road that will document whatever comes your way.

A secure ride

Accidents happen, and the DVR700 is well equipped to back you when they do. The camera's built-in G-Sensor with adjustable sensitivity will detect high-speed driving, a hard turn, or a collision, then save the 1-minute-before to 3-minutes-after running time of video so that the "emergency event" cannot be automatically recorded over. The DVR700 also allows you to manually preserve video events with its "panic" mode, which saves video with the push of a button — a handy feature when you sense trouble or you're witness to a worthy moment. Thanks to an internal microphone, the DVR 700 captures audio for a more complete presentation of a recorded event.

Video output

Jensen's DVR700 records 720p HD video files or VGA video files in a continuous loop, using the included 8 GB microSD™ card. To increase storage, you can add a larger microSD card (up to 32 GB). For a simple transfer of valuable video, just remove the microSD card from the dash cam and plug it into a compatible smartphone, monitor, or computer. Video will be accessible as MOV files.

Installation Note: For setup of certain features, you will need to connect the DVR700 to a video monitor via the included AV cord. Any monitor that accepts a yellow RCA video plug is acceptable. Also, please note that the cigarette lighter power source does not include a video line out.

Warning: The use of this device and/or a windshield mount may be restricted in some states or jurisdictions.

Features

In-Vehicle Event DVR: The DVR700 in-vehicle camera & DVR mounts on the windshield of your vehicle just behind the rear view mirror and records continuously so you can record interesting, fun experiences during your travels as well as any accidents or fender benders you may encounter.

100° Viewing Angle + 720p HD Recording: The DVR700's camera features a CMOS image sensor with a 100° viewing angle and records video at 720p (1280 x 720). You can also set the DVR700 to record video at VGA (640 x 480) to take up less space on the inserted memory card.

Continuous & Manual Recording: The DVR700 is always in stand-by mode ready to record non-stop any event such as an accident or interesting, fun experiences during your travels. Should you have an accident, the DVR700 is always recording and the built in G sensors automatically lock the currently recorded section from 1 minute before to 3 minutes after the incident that triggered the system. This ensures that the event cannot be erased or recorded over. The recording lock can also be triggered manually if the driver wants to capture something dangerous on the road or simply wants to ensure they save that recording for viewing at a later time.

Note: It provides date and time stamp on the recording for easy reference.

MicroSD Card: The DVR700 records video onto microSD or microSDHC memory cards. It includes a 8GB Micro SD Card and supports Micro SDHC memory cards (up to 32GB; Class 10). Video files are recorded as MOV (H.264) to transfer and view on a computer.

Video Output: The DVR700 features a composite video jack to output video to an external monitor.

Note: The DVR700 must be connected to an external monitor initially to to view setup menu and to adjust menu settings.

Mounting Options: The DVR700 small chassis size allows almost stealth like installation, so as not to draw attention to the device and when mounted behind or above the rear view mirror it will not interfere with the drivers view;

Rechargeable Battery: The DVR700 features a built-in rechargeable battery (90maH) that can last up to approximately 16 hours of continuous recording. Also included is a cigarette lighter adapter for convenient power source, and a direct wire power cable for hardwire installation.
