General Features
Product Overview: The Jensen
VM9022 double-DIN multimedia unit includes a DVD/CD receiver with a 6.5" motorized monitor. It has an
integrated SD Memory Card slot behind the front panel, comes with a MediaLink auxiliary
A/V and iPod input module, has dual zone capability, and built-in Bluetooth
hardware.
Motorized 6.5" TFT LCD Monitor:
The VM9022 features a
motorized 6.5" TFT Active Matrix, 16:9 wide-angle touchscreen display with an adjustable
viewing angle. The resolution of the display is 1200 x 234 for a total of
280,800 pixels. The screen has a 120°
horizontal viewing angle (60° left or right), and a 95° vertical viewing angle
(40° up and 55° down). Menus appear on screen for making function choices, audio
adjustments, and setting up the system.
Display
Angle Adjustment: You can adjust the display's angle for better
visibility. Starting flat, the display tilts upward and
has 16 tilt
positions.
Auto
Open/Close: The
display automatically tilts to the last viewing position when the ignition is turned on and closes
(flat)
when the ignition is turned off.
Display
Adjustment: You can adjust the display's brightness and contrast.
Aspect Ratio:
16:9 video sources are displayed full screen. There are two options for 4:3
sources:
- Cinema: stretches picture
horizontally to fill the entire width of the screen, distorting the picture
slightly but retaining full image height
- Normal: display with black bars on either side
Bluetooth:
The VM9022
has Bluetooth hardware built in to integrate with Bluetooth enabled cellular
phones. Bluetooth is a two-way wireless communication system allowing you to
make and receive cell phone calls.
SD Memory Card: The VM9022 is
equipped with a slot that will accommodate SD Memory Cards with MP3 or WMA files.
MediaLink Auxiliary Input: The unit
includes the MediaLink auxiliary input module for connecting a variety of external
devices; VCR, DVD player, portable MP3 player, etc. The module has an
attached 4' A/V cable which plugs directly into the back of the head unit.
The module has a composite video input, stereo RCA and 3.5mm mini-jack
audio inputs, a USB input, and an iPod input for use with the included jLink
iPod cable. It can be mounted under dash or in a location convenient for
plugging in auxiliary devices using the supplied screws.
Electronic Skip Protection:
This unit is equipped with 2 MB high-speed buffer for skip
resistant playback.
Equalizer:
The seven band EQ has seven preset curves and one user
programmable setting. User adjustments are +/-12 at 80, 250, 600, 1k, 4k, 10k,
and 16kHz and the seven factory presets are Acoustic, Urban, Rave, Latin,
Dance, Hip Hop, and Rock.Channel Level: The volume level of each
channel, front left, front right, center, rear left, rear right, and subwoofer
is independently adjustable.
Subwoofer:
The single 4 volt RMS RCA subwoofer output's low-pass filter frequency
can be set to 50, 80, 100, 120, or 150Hz and the subwoofer's phase can be set to 0 or 180
degrees.
MP3/WMA
Playback:
The VM9022 can play MP3 and WMA files recorded on CD-R,
CD-RW, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, or DVD+RW discs and SD Memory cards. The files must
be recorded in ISO 9660 or Joliet formats, the recommended bit rate is 128 kbps
and sampling frequency is 48 kHz.Dual Zone Capable: The
unit allows you to play independent sources simultaneously in the front and rear
zones. There are two composite video outputs plus RCA stereo audio to feed the
rear zone.
Rear View Camera Input: The head unit
features a function that automatically switches to the image from a rearview camera
(if installed) when you shift into reverse. You can display it as normal or a
mirror image.
Navigation Ready: An optional navigation
unit, the NAV101 (item number 110NAV101), can be added to the VM9022.
Source Volume: The relative volume of each
input can be set such that changing from one to another doesn't result in a
large change in volume.
Anti-Theft Code:
When the VM9022 is
first powered up after being connected to a power source, a password screen is
displayed requiring input of the six digit security code. The initial code,
listed in the manual, is input during installation. Once the installation is
complete, change the code in the setup menu.
Beep Tones: An audible beep
tone confirms each function selection. The beep tone can be disabled if you
prefer.
DVD/CD Features
Video Lockout: For safety
reasons, you cannot view a video source on the built-in monitor as long as the
vehicle is in motion. In order to display video, the supplied pink wire must be
hardwired into the vehicle's parking brake light circuit, and the vehicle's
parking brake must be engaged.
Disc Compatibility: The VM9022
is compatible with the following discs:
- DVD: DVD Video, DVD-R,
DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW
- VCD: Video CD, Super Video
CD
- CD: Audio CD (CD-DA),
CD-R, CD-RW
- Other Compatible Formats: MP3, WMA, JPEG, AVI,
XviD, and DivX
Note: 8 cm discs should
not be used in this unit.
Surround Channels: You can switch between
4.0 (2-channel stereo), 4.1 (4-channal surround with sub), and 5.1 (surround
with sub and canter channel) output modes.
Surround Modes: The VM9022 has built-in
surround processors for Dolby Digital and Dolby Pro Logic II (music, movie, and
matrix modes).
Powered Center Channel: There is a speaker
level output for a center channel speaker for use with the Dolby Digital or
Dolby Pro Logic II surround processors. The output is 22 watts RMS and is
CEA-2006 compliant.
Dynamic Range Compression: This
function reduces a Dolby Digital soundtrack's dynamic range so you can hear
quieter dialog without being overwhelmed by loud sections. You can choose a
setting of On or Off.
Fast
Forward/Fast Reverse: When
playing a DVD, there are four fast-play speeds in both directions
(2x, 4x, 6x, and 8x).
Slow Motion: When playing a DVD, there are
three slow motion speeds; forward direction only.
Repeat Play: When playing a
DVD, you can repeat the current chapter or title. When playing a Video CD, you
can repeat the current track. For MP3, you can repeat the file or folder. A-B Repeat allows you to repeat any portion of a
DVD.
Random
Play: When playing a DVD, Video CD, or audio CD, you can play the chapters/tracks in random order.
Zoom:
When playing DVDs, you can enlarge the picture using
the zoom feature. Choose one of
three zoom settings; 1.5x, 2x, or 3x. Use the joystick control to pan across the
enlarged image.
Preamp Outputs: If you want
5.1 channel theater-style sound, connect the appropriate external
amplifiers and speakers to the front, rear, center, and subwoofer preamp
outputs.
External Device Controls
iPod Control: Using the included MediaLink
module and jLink iPod cable you can connect and control your iPod (with dock
connector) through the touchscreen display.
- Audio And Video Playback: 5th generation iPod video
only
- Audio Playback Only: iPod mini, iPod nano
(1st/2nd/3rd/4th generation), iPod photo, iPod classic and iPod touch
(1st/2nd generation)
Note: This cable is not compatible with 1st and 2nd
generation iPods or shuffle. This cable also will not charge the iPod nano
(4th generation) or iPod touch (2nd generation).
XM Satellite Radio Ready: The Jensen VM9022 supports XM
Radio via the optional CNP2000UC XMdirect2 Tuner (sold separately) and the
Jensen CNPJEN1 Connection Cable (package # 700XMJEN1). In addition, you will
need a subscription to XM Satellite Radio. XM Satellite Radio programming
offers 170 digital radio channels including 69 channels of commercial free
music, plus news, sports, talk, comedy, and other entertainment programming from
coast to coast. XM also offers instant traffic and weather alerts for 21 major
US cities, as well as live sports broadcasts from Major League Baseball, NHL,
the PGA tour, Indy car racing and several major college conferences.
Note: XM Satellite radio service is available only
within the continental United States. Service is not available in Alaska and
Hawaii.

6-Channel Audio Preamp Outputs: This unit has six audio preamp outputs: front left and
right, rear left and right, center, and subwoofer.
Multi Zone Output:
The Multi Zone
output consists of left and right RCA audio jacks and two RCA composite video
jacks, allowing you to connect optional back seat monitors and
a headphone
system.
Aux Inputs:
There are two auxiliary A/V inputs, consisting of left and right RCA audio jacks and an RCA
composite video jack, allowing you to connect external equipment to this head
unit. Aux 1 is typically used for the MultiLink module.
Camera Input: This RCA composite video jack
allows you connect an optional rear view camera.
