I love this DVD player, it has great options that are easy to use on the screen. The remote has 40 buttons, but a quick look and you can find the important buttons. it has a ton of wires, but if you can follow the directions you should be able to install it in a few hours, it took me about 3 hours.

I've only had the unit for a couple of weeks, but it has played every kind of disc I've put in it. Easy install and great picture. It is a little slow changing inputs. It's a great price for what you get. I use it to feed an amp so output power was not an issue. I may buy another one to put in my other car. So far so good......

SO, The dvd is great, I connect my media center (device that reads every media files in a hd and send as a vga/av) was working beautifully until I try to upgrade the firmware due to the fm/am leaking on the left speaker so, now my device wont play any audio at all. I contact crutchfield and they was great, they advise me to check each single connection with the speaker to make sure it is not a problem with the wiring. I didn't do that yet. OTHER THAN THAT, IT'S GREAT! I LOVED!!!

A crisp monitor, Movies look great. However if you want to build a system
around this head unit your going to need to buy a really powerful system,
that's going to cost you a couple of thousands! I have a loud system that
sounds wack with this head unit. I am going to upgrade for something with
more out put power. My factory radio sounds louder than this unit. Great

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I dont know how anyone can NOT rate this 5 stars. We installed it with no
problems in under an hour (thanks for the mounting kit and harness
Crutchfield!!). It flips out quick, goes back in quickly, and the touchscreen is
awesome. The MediaLink3 is great too, for iPod and a slim PS2. All I can
say is that it sounds GREAT. MUCH BETTER THAN MY FACTORY DECK.
Everybody who says that it sounded worse does NOT fully
understand mobile electronics. This receiver puts out 160w, 40w each
channel. Unless you have GOOD factory speakers, like the Infinitis in my 03
Stratus, then its gonna be TOO MUCH power for your speakers and theyll
sound bad. Older cars's factory systems are made to sound good standing
alone. THATS WHY ITS FACTORY!!! Dont believe the bad reviews, a lemon is
a lemon, but a duck is a duck. The Jensen VM9312 is a must have, now all
my friends want to get one. I burned over 80 music videos on a DVD R and
it loaded them in 5 seconds, and 500 songs on a DVD R and it took even
less. This does not take long to load discs, and the EQ works fine. And if
you dont like the Mono Sub Out, spend $15 and GET AN RCA 2-1 male to
female splitter. Its that easy. Crutchfield you guys are AMAZING!!!!

    Hate it & Headache!

I really hate this stereo. I thought upgrading a after market stereo would
get a better sound quality, but guess what! My car's factory stereo sounds
better. I tried all the preset EQ and even the manual EQ still I couldn't get
a better sound. What a shame! There's more about the DVD video mode
problem, sometimes even though I've already set the parking brake on still
the warning message appears on the screen and couldn't watch movie no
    this happens very often.

    Two thumbs up !!

I purchased this for my '01 Dodge Dakota quad cab and I'm 110% sold, great product. I've owned other brands in the past (Clarion,Pioneer,Dual) but this one believe it or not has the best screen and user friendly in my opinion. I would recommend this head unit to everyone.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Once you figure out how to work out all the components and menues, this head unit is really a great buy. Don't forget to set your settings on the I-pod to let you send vidio out to your unit. Rear view camera attachment works great. The tilt feature for the screan allows you to divert any glare that you might get on a sunny day. Also suggest you upgrade speakers and add amp where applicable. Can't have a nice unit like this with factory speakers. Only thing is if you are looking for a big thump from the pre-out sub line, it won't be happening unless you are going to crank the heck out of the vol. All in all this unit works great. Now if I could get it to brew some coffee for me in the morning, it would be perfect.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Not bad for the money. Like all the others said though, the EQ system is terrible. There is no bass even when you put it all the way to 14 on the touch screen. Don't like the design of the knobs. The screen is fantastic and DVD is good. What they don't tell you is that you have to do some stupid sequence of pulling up your parking brake a few times to set the mode for the DVD to come on. I am returning it for a better brand. It was good for the price but control knobs are confusing when trying to skip songs. No radio controls unless screen is open. Still a good buy!

    Best Buy for the Buck!

I installed in about a hour, Ford Contour SVT, did not use the Medialink. Instead I direct connected my Sirus Sporster to the Sat audio inputs. The overall sound quality is very good. I am using a 4 channel amp and a mono sub amp. The 2 volt pre amp outs for the mids is very good. But the sub out is very lacking. I used a linedriver for the sub out to add a little thump in the bottom end. Over all it sounds very good.
The touch screen is a nice touch. Sorry for the pun. Picture quality is outstanding. It has a problem reading some burnt DVDs. If you are on a limited budget, you could do I lot worse the choosing the Jensen VM9312. Overall, 4 Stars. Would be 5 stars if not for the sub out.

Very Nice Entry Level Multimedia Head-Unit

Written By Dave, Pennsauken, NJ on Thursday, November 08, 2007

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed this head unit a few days ago and so far it's been terrific. The sound and video quality are great, especially when compared to more expensive units.

There have been several issues that other reviewers have mentioned that I'd like to comment on. First, as far as the volume coming on "full blast" upon turning on the unit, all you need to do is set the volume to whatever level you'd like it to be when you turn it on and press and hold in the volume knob until it beeps. After doing so the volume will come on to that pre-determined level every time the unit turns on.

As for being able to hear the radio while listening to DVD's and iPod, there is a simple software upgrade that you can get from the Audiovox web site. Just download the file, unzip it to a CD-R then follow the instructions on the PDF file that Audiovox sends you along with the file. It'll take about five minutes but the instructions are perfect and if you follow them to the letter you'll be fine.

The folks at Crutchfield were very helpful during the installation. However, they did not know that in order to get the half-sleeve off of the unit you have to remove four microscopic screws (as opposed to using the levers on the sides of the half-sleeve that, as it turns out, do not exist.)

I purchased the optional JLink cable and it works flawlessly. Some have mentioned that you can't play songs in random order but this is not so. Although it's not mentioned in the owner's manual, it's fully capable of doing so.

All in all, it's a very good head unit and it does what it's supposed to do. If you need Bluetooth then you'll need to opt for the VM9412 but if not this is a good way to go.

    Not too bad at all!

Written By Jeff, Downers Grove, IL on Sunday, November 04, 2007

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It's not bad at all.. the volume goes up to 40 where some people say it isn't loud enough but for me it's more than enough. I have my backup camera, my subwoofers as well as my XM unit hooked up to it, it works perfectly, only downside I'd say is the screen isn't too clear in sunlight (but then again which screen is, right?), and when you want to choose between functions such as radio to camera, or radio to dvd/cd .. it takes a decent amount of time to change functions (around 3-7 seconds). I personally don't mind it but.. other people might?
All in all I give it 2 thumbs up and a rating of 8 out of 10 or 4 out of 5.
very great bang for the buck. Hope it lasts!

The units far exceeded my expectations for the price. Features are increadible. The only downside is that the unit could use a little more bass, but this could also be the pioneer speakers. Either way, this is a great unit, but im going to add a subwoofer.

I bought this because of Touchscreen, easy dvd bypass, and ipod capabilities... I must say the screen is crystal clear and the unit will not skip..Its easy to use and has MANY features..BUT, the volume is only 40 and this absolutely is not loud enough.. THe sub pre-out voltage is terrible and you will HAVE to get a linedriver to get any decent output to your amp.. It makes me sick at how low quality the Eqilizers and sound controls work.. It will need an amp to get half way satifying speaker output... I have component speakers with Midbass 6.5's and tweeters and they sound horrible.. My stock speakers sounded better on the Stock headunit!!! I have a 9515G on 2000+ watts and i cant hear my vocals because of the low quality Headunit RMS, voltage, and sound controls..I will be selling this as soon as i can find someone that's interested.. I didnt expect great quality from this brand, so im going with a respected HU and getting satisfying sound next time!!

well i bought a sub for my car and my original stereo broke so i bought this unit i was very eager to recieve this item when i got it i installed it in about 40 mins very easy installation longest process was soldering the wires together but even that was easy the volume is decent it only goes up to 40 wich isnt very loud but its high enough i installed a sub and got an amp for my front speakers and its loud enough now overall its a very solid unit i recomend it for any one that wants an inexpensive, good quality indash reciever

    might help,volume problem

if u want to set volume thet after u start your car hold the volume button depresed for few second until u hear beep/if that time your volme is 17 after turn off and on ignition keys it will go back to 17.
I have Nissan patfinder with bose amp and speakers i changed only radio in it for jensen vm 9312 u have to hook up a hi/lo transformer betwen output from jensen and amp! Also if u try hook up it will play much less loud as regular fm radio it drives me nuts im going to put preamp between radio and sat.receiver to boost more. For guys who have problem with back round radio interfiering two options go to setting and shut off RDS or go to Jensen web site and download software to upgrate firmware in unit i did it ,its simple. Also unit can play over seas dvd,s just u have to get in settings this how to do it:go to am/fm mode hit set up on your remote and punch this numbers 543210 new menu will appear and u can change setting for region 1 to6 it doesnt have 0 which would play all dvds so it is kind of pain in the neck to change it everytime u put different dvd. Regarding balance and fade Jensen should take all units from market eventhought what we own and fix the problem. We should all send them letter of complain including guys from Crutchfield jus for one simple reason we all pay for it and we all expecting 100% performance. We didn't buy it for $100 we payed full price. If they have a problem fix it or give us money back/Jensen/ and end of story.

I bought this unit to play MP3s from a DVD. I was surprised at how quickly it loaded my DVD+R DLs. I had no issues with the volume. Its loud enough. This unit does everything that it says t does. Minor complaints are no time display when monitor is closed. No Dolby 5.1 decoder (Valor has it). When scrolling through folders sometimes the displayed folder name gets stuck.

First let me start off by talking about Hearing the Radio when listening to AUX or IPOD. This concerned me too. I have found that there is a firmware update for this unit located at the Audiovox site (they make Jensen) and it completely fixes this issue.

The unit is very nice and it works great. I am looking forward to finding the GPS module that works with it.

All in all a very good product.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Had this reciever for 3 weeks now. I have only one complaint but its a deal breaker. There is a problem with the balance & fade feature on these units. I could not get the front speakers to go low no matter how much I faded it to the rear. The front would remain high. Same thing happens if I faded maximum to the front - the rears would still be fairly loud. Ditto for left to right & right to left separation. Reported it to Crutchfield tech dept & said I wanted a new unit & he suggested that they should bench test the replacement unit before they send it to me to make sure that they were not all like that so I agreed. Lo & behold I get a call back in 2 days & he says my order for a new unit was cancelled because they tested a few other units & all were found to have the same problem - no sound separation. I could not believe it - this is a basic feature that always works even in the cheapest of radios I've ever had.
Now I read all the reviews on this unit before I purchased it & not one ever mention this problem. Could tech support be trying to get me to keep this reciever by telling me "They are all like that"? I am not tremendously picky about sound quality but I would like to have a basic control such as L/R balance & F/R fader work properly.
Unfortunately, I'll be returning this unit which is a shame because everything else works great. Buyer beware!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This product far exceeded my expectations. I knew that the unit was going to be a CD,DVD,IPOD style. I was pleasantly suprised to find out that the unit does far more. The volume control only goes to 40 and that's fine because I listen to it at 20 and it is plenty loud for me. I did have some technical issues in the beginning and through the use of the technical support line we determined that the "new" unit was faulty. The Crutchfield gang sent me another unit right away. Now that everything is working I am in "Heaven". I thought I was going to have a problem with the install due to the fact that I was going to use the existing "Bose" speakers and integrated amplifier but, that was not the case. The screen controls are very easy to operate and the clarity of movies are awesome. I will be taking the car to my local repair garage to have them install the media link in the center console and I can't wait to use my IPOD. The car itself never had true "lows" so it looks like I will have to get a sub, which I found can be controlled through the unit, another awesome feature.

I just purchased this unit and I can't say enough great things about it! It is very easy to use, and has all the features you hope to get when you make this kind of purchase. The best thing about it, if you’re like me, is the ability the unit gives you to add extra components to the head unit. It is very compact, durable and offers a display that will blow you away! The touch screen is very accurate and sensitive to touch and allows easy navigation throughout the menus. I say for the overall look and feel of the unit, it is the best buy for the money! I purchased in April of 2007. I wanted to wait a while before I submitted a review. Overall I give it a 4 of 5 because there a couple minor things that let me down. The max. volume is not enough (No, I'm not a teenager) It is installed in my Dodge 1500 and the road noise I am trying to overcome is greater than the max volume. However, picture quality is awesome and makes the whole purchase worth while. My kids really like the IPOD features too. For the money it is a very good buy.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I just got this to replace my stock stereo in my 95 ford explorer. I mainly purchased it for using my ipod and occasionally watching a DVD. It took me a while to install because I had to bypass my factory amp and I attempted to make my own wiring harness to try to save the 6 disc cd changer in my car unfortunately that didn't work but who needs that when you have an ipod? The LCD screen's quality is surprisingly good but like otherwise noted controlling the ipod with the screen isn't very easy and can be kind of slow. I've only had it one day but I just finished making some boxes that fit underneath my rear seats that hold none other than a playstation and xbox. So far I love it and it was worth every penny.

This is one of the best decisions that I made for my in-car entertainment! Anyway, I hooked the video out to the back seat and presto, the whole car is the sound system with dual 10" screens in back, and this player's screen in front for the passenger. If we want it music up front and video in the back, pop in the DVD to the back set and poof, i-pod in the front and Shrek in the back! This deck performs wonderfully, and is just as loud as I need! Multiple EQ setting with one user definable EQ setting, Crisp sounding highs with deep lows, good quality video on screen and good output video, i-pod attachment is Soooo cool!! Control the i-pod from the touch screen instead of trying to fiddle with it driving down the road. Only compliant is that i-pod playlist are automatically changed to be in alphabetical order for the head unit!(Doesn't change the i-pod) I HIGHLY recommend this to anyone who wants an entry level device at a decent price!!

This is an excellent head unit. For my purposes the volume stopping at 40 works well, but some might find this limited. The touch screen is easy to use. Typical of Jensen the load time is a little slow when you first turn it on but not a big deal to me. Sound quality is excellent. If you want a great head unit on a budget this Jensen unit is the way to go. I am thinking of getting another one for another vehicle.

I bought this unit because of the other reviews on it. Crutchfield has superb shipping as this got to me in two days. I would suggest that you buy any and all extras with this unit. I absolutely love this. The touch screen and video outputs are great as I have headrest monitors and can play movies for my daughters. The only draw back that I found on this model is the volume. I wish it was louder. I definately suggest buying an amp for the speakers.

I give this product an A+ for what it is. It's a great DVD player/stereo for a great price.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I just installed the monitor in my 99 Durango with a friend. Before I installed it, I put my volume up on my stock speakers and got muddy sound at high volume levels. With the new deck in, however, I put the volume up to 30 (goes MAX at 40 but 30 is usually much more than enough for me and I'm a teenager) and it was clear sound with the stock speakers and no subwoofers or amp. The monitor has GREAT quality. The install was somewhat simple. Looks great, even better at night. The iPod controls are very fast but when I first connected it I had to wait about 3-4 minutes for it to get used to my ipod because it had about 3000 songs on it along with some pics and vids. Overall, this is a great monitor with even better features, fantastic quality, all at a great price. If you are thinking about getting an in-dash monitor. This is the one.

    Great product for the money!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this system to work as a slave unit through my factory radio, so this unit works basically as a DVD and an Ipod for me. I have a Bose system, so I really was just looking for more of a inexpensive flip out DVD player. I purchased the cable from cruthfield to maintain my factory rear audio settings to use in conjunction with the DVD player. All I do is switch to auxillary mode on my factory radio and my Jensen is playing through my factory setup. The Ipod feature is fantastic. The DVD quality on the flip out screen is way better than I would have ever expected for this price. Not too difficult to use, figured out how to use just about every function in under an hour. Great customer service, and extreemly quick shipping. You won't be dissappointed with this unit if you're on a budget like I was.

    Great Unit

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Crutchfield came though with this one! Got a great deal and included everything needed for a flawless install! The unit itself is great. Touchscreen, multiple inputs/outputs, Ipod capable. I hooked it to an aftermarket Pyle navigation module and it works better than any stock unit I have seen so far. Only backside so far is what has been stated, volume only reaches 40 (still loud, but could be louder, maybe I need an amp!) and the remote is tricky but can be learned. Operates like a higher end unit.

    Great Headunit for the price!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I first off would love to thank Crutchfield so being AMAZING with shipping and all the free stuff. I ordered this headunit on March 27 and it was here on the 28 with their free standard shipping. I installed it today the only problem i had was with all the wires coming out of the back of it, but i am guessing it is like that so you can hook up headrest monitors and that kind of stuff but the touchscreen works great and its very easy to use the remote is a lil tricky to use but u will eventually get used to it. The only thing i dont like is that the maximum volume is 40 and personally its not loud enough for me. Thats the only Con i have found as of now. Other that that if you want a cheap DVD player with a touch screen this is the BEST way to go because this thing is GREAT. Highly Recommended!!!!
