Jensen's VX7020 navigation receiver delivers real value, sporting an impressive 6.2" LCD screen that gives you easy command over your audio and video sources. You can also incorporate your phone with hands-free calling and streaming audio capabilities. Add the cost of the stress you'll save by not having to worry about getting lost, and this Jensen becomes a worthy investment.
The VX7020 boasts maps of the entire U.S., Puerto Rico, and U.S. Virgin Islands, plus millions of points of interest for when it's time to take a break. Lane guidance will keep you on the right path for your next maneuver, and you'll be able to see realistic depictions of many complex intersections that make them easier to navigate.
The VX7020's powered by iGO primo navigation software, which has become an industry standard over the past few years because it's fast, accurate, and easy to use. This stereo's compatible with Naviextras, which allows you to download maps for other countries, including points of interest, through their website.
This Jensen offers Bluetooth connectivity, so you'll be able to make and take calls using your compatible phone through the stereo. Built-in A2DP technology allows you to stream music from your smartphone through this receiver, and gives you control over the music on your Android™ phone or iPhone®.
If you've got Pandora Internet radio on your iPhone®, you can control it through the VX7020's interface when connected.
This receiver will play all your CDs and DVDs, including discs loaded with music files, while front and rear A/V inputs offer connections for more audio/video sources. Go ahead and load up your iPod® or thumb drive with tunes for your travels — the receiver's front USB port provides convenient access.
When you're parked, you can enjoy movies from DVDs or other video sources on the receiver's display, and you can add Jensen's optional jLinkUSB cable to view iPod video content. Jensen includes a wireless remote control, allowing your passengers to pick the playlist.
Why struggle with stations fading away as you travel? You can hook up a satellite radio tuner (not included) to this receiver and access the wide variety of entertainment, sports, news, and commercial-free music satellite radio provides — your favorite stations are always there and, even better, you can view the channel art on the big screen. You can also connect a rear-view camera, so you can see more of what's behind your vehicle when getting in and out of tight spots. If you're looking to add subs and amps, you can take advantage of front, rear, and subwoofer preamp outputs.
The Jensen VX7020 offers built-in steering wheel remote compatibility for vehicles with non-CAN bus steering wheel control interfaces, but you will have to hard-wire the steering-wheel control wires of the stereo's harness to your vehicle's wiring. You can configure the steering wheel remote commands from the VX7020's touchscreen. For most cars with CAN bus steering wheel control interfaces, you'll need an adapter to retain steering wheel controls. Check “Details” for more information, and the "Accessories" tab for compatible adapters. If you're not sure if you need an adapter, call, chat, or email an Advisor for help determining what you'll need for your vehicle.
Bluetooth note: Use of this receiver's Bluetooth features will depend upon your phone's Bluetooth capabilities. Learn more in our article explaining Bluetooth profiles.
iPod/smartphone note: If you're going to use your iPod or smartphone with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for compatibility information.
Imagine taking a trip as your car's receiver gives you directions, finds the best restaurant for dinner, and plays movies for your back seat denizens. Navigation receivers cover all the bases, with GPS guidance, DVD playback, and a host of other useful features. You can search through millions of points of interest to locate gas stations, restaurants, museums, and other interesting spots, wherever you are. Most receivers offer Bluetooth capability for hands-free calling, along with the ability to search through your iPod playlists with touchscreen controls.
Very nice unit. Great upgrade to the factory Bose system in a 2006 Silverado. Installation was fairly painless.
The back up camera does not come on automatically when the vehicle is put into reverse. You must select the camera function on the home screen first.
I have had some issues with reception. I live 25 miles from a few very popular radio stations in my area. Instead of having static, the sound will fade in and out. I have double checked antenna connections. I have also checked settings in the radio as the manual suggested and they have all been verified.
I have not really utilized the Navigation function of this system yet. Only used it locally just to see how it did. Seemed to work.
I would have given this 5 stars but the function of a radio is to receive signals. With how close our radio stations are to us and how it seems to be lacking in the reception function, I think that it is a little overpriced for its inability to perform its primary function.
Pros: Lots of additional upgrades to the factory radio it replaced
Cons: Fair to poor radio reception
Best unit for a reasonable price
Pros: Easy Navigation, inexpensive
Cons: May have to mount gps antenna on outside of vehicle
I did quite a bit of research on in-dash NAV units before deciding on this one. It is missing some features of more expensive units but delivers great bang for the buck. I paid for professional installation, but I also replaced the entire sound system at the same time. 2006 Chevy Silverado 2500 Crewcab. I can now check voicemail, make and receive calls, and stream music hands-free from my Android phone via BT. Navigation is not voice activated on this unit, but the iGO Pro maps an satellite signal are good enough. I already did buy it again, and plan to install in my wife's 2008 RAV4.
Pros: Bluetooth, rear camera, EQ, easy to use
Cons: no voice activation for NAV
Easy to install and works great. I love this in my truck. The radio does seem to be a little fuzzy at times but works great most of the time. GPS works great, too many updates when to turn but this feature can be turned off.
Pros: Price, quality, ease of use
Cons: Sometimes fuzzy radio
The Jensen VX 7020 is a pretty awesome unit. I haven't had the opportunity to use all of the features yet, but the ones I have used have been outstanding. The unit was fairly easy to install using wiring harnesses and wire caps provided by Crutchfield. The few questions on wiring that I did have were answered well by tech support. The only drawbacks I've encountered were: 1) The OEM unit had two ports for dual sensitivity antennas. The Jensen only had one. A few minor reception problems in our area, but not a show stopper. 2) Mating some of the wiring to a Toyota Highlander's wiring harness is a bit difficult. I'm still having issues with just finding the reverse and parking brake wiring, even though tech support told me what to look for. 3) I'm having difficulty adjusting the radio volume when the vehicle is initially turned on. Really loud, and I haven't found the adjustment for it yet. Overall, a pleasant experience.
Pros: Easy to use controls. Great GPS display. Easy setup.
Cons: The Metra wiring harness doesn't entirely match up with the OEM wiring. Easy if you CLOSELY read the directions.
I have the same volume issues that another reviewer had. Loud, then soft, then loud; drives me nuts. I can't figure out how to correct this problem. Even if it is correctable, the fact that I can't figure it out on my own is a problem. Also, presets are too difficult to get to. It's a preset, they should be on the home screen, now three screens away.
Cons: Terrible volume problems Presets not on radio home screen Remote is pretty much useless
This was the least expensive of all the GPS head units I could find....and I couldn't be happier. I really wanted Garmin GPS unit, but they were way out of my budget, like $600 for low end. Saw some nice reviews about Igo gps and took a chance. Really happy with all aspects. GPS works perfect, music sounds great through my GM Bose system and price was good too! Installation was a breeze, even with backup camera installation. I installed with straight power from running lights so I could periodically check on trailers while towing, instead of only through backup lights. All in all, very satisfied.....and I did a ton of research before I bought. One other thing.... I found most of the complaints other people had were easily changed and adjusted in setting. Just read the directions, pretty simple!
Pros: Worked as advertised and was very customizable for my truck. Love the Bluetooth and easily connects to my IPhone 5s. gPS is perfect to!
Cons: Really can't find a thing to complain about....maybe if it was free?!?!
Wow I looked at the kenwood models and pioneer tuners. This tuner has just as many features as the more expensive ones. Love it , and the Crutchfield tech who helped me with my purchase was excellent he hit the mark. I got what I was looking for. Very happy customer
Pros: Plenty of features that the more expensive ones have
Cons: Volume is loud when you first turn it on and start up is slow other than that it would be a 5
Like product for the price hope it works as good
Cons: Not very good wiring instructions for all radio and interface set up paying a company to install will revise when done
Need work with understanding unit. When I turn on the car, the volume is high and blasts me. I turn it down but this happens every time I turn on the car. I turn off the unit but my antenna stays up, will have to turn off the car when going through a car wash. Haven't been able to get it to accept my CD's, kicks them out. Nice unit but too many gadgets to deal with, especially when driving. Wouldn't have bought it if I knew.
Pros: Volume is set at a high level that doesn't seem adjustable when turn on car. Antenna doesn't go down when turn off the radio. Doesn't seem to accept CDs made by me.
Cons: Volume is set at a high level that doesn't seem adjustable. Turn it down, turn off car, turn car back on at back to high volume. Antenna doesn't go down when turn off radio.Crutchfield response on January 11, 2016 Once we saw this review, our Tech Support team reached out to help the customer. We'll either help him get the receiver working the way it should, or help him return it for an exchange or refund.
For the money, this is likely the best 2 DIN stereo I've seen, certainly the best fit for Ford vehicles.
Pros: Great Sound Easy installation GPS works great (After some updating and adding the TTS software, Free from Jenson Customer Service)
Cons: Startup is a little slow (sometimes inconvenient waiting for startup to complete so backup camera can be used)
At this price I was expecting quality based on what I paid. Instead I got much more! This head unit has everything I was looking for and more. The sound quality rivals any higher end unit. The GPS is spot on and easy to navigate. And the interface is excellent! Add crutchfield's tech support and customer service, and I couldn't be happier.
Pros: Easy installation Quick and easy interface Sound quality Display GPS accuracy Responsive touch screen
Nice Nav radio with all the popular features for a low price. Everything works like it should. The only complaint I have is the GPS navigation voice does not pronounce street names... I went thru and upgraded the software and loaded the free map updates. That in itself was a time consuming process. It took me a little while to figure out how to do it. The owners manual does not clearly explain how to do that... However after the lengthy process of updating the software and loading the latest maps. It still does not pronounce the street names. It gets kinda boring after awhile hearing a voice just say, "Turn left, Turn Right or Leave highway..." Sometimes its not clear what exit its prompting you to get off on... Other than that overall I like the radio. I really like the built in Pandora app. Pretty cool.
Pros: Low price Built In Pandora App Customizable Display colors
Cons: The GPS software does not pronounce the street names by default... Looks like its an extra $$$ feature...
I installed this as a birthday present for my 1996 Acura Integra GSR. The wiring harness and trim panel/mounts included by Crutchfield (along with a handful of YouTube videos) made the install smooth and trouble free. The only head unit features I didn't exercise were streering wheel control (not on original vehicle) and rear view camera (not an urgent need). [I took advantage of a "free" Sirius tuner (3 months free All Access ). ] GPS navigation, handsfree (Bluetooth pairing) with my Windows Phone, Sirius radio, AM/FM radio, CD/DVD, USB with iPad worked fine from the first power up. Touch screen operation is smooth and intuitive (no need to pull out the manuals). Backup of GPS microSD card and free map (one-time) upgrade was trouble free. The GPS maps are accurate and easy to read - turn by turn voice instructions but no street names. The POIs are reasonably complete and up to date. The sound through my original speakers is fine and the graphical EQ is convenient. Young car enthusiasts still ask me about buying my Acura and the only area that I felt occasional envy was modern electronics. This unit took care of that.
Pros: Great value for touch screen GPS/Bluetooth multimedia receiver. Smooth and seamless installation into 20 year old vehicle
Cons: Would like street name announcement with turn by turn instructions. [As per other reviews I've asked Jensen if software updates are available to address this]
GPS is great! I wish the Bluetooth could sync with MP3 data to show what is playing, would love visualizations, and the background options are all terrible. Reaction times are quick and the Bluetooth connects flawlessly.
Pros: Bluetooth, GPS
Cons: No visualizations, backgrounds, or Bluetooth MP3 reader
Loads of features packed into this unit. Love the blue tooth feature, works great with Android phone. Touch screen works great, GPS and back up camera are easy to use. Controls are easy to figure without reading owners manual.
Pros: Lots of features for the money. Easy to use.
Cons: Radio reception is not the best. Radio is slow to boot up. Blue tooth auto connect cuts of radio, takes several selections to get radio audio back on.
Works great - better than the factory system it replaced.
Pros: touch screen, good navigation
Amazing Value... If you are looking to replace your Chrysler Dodge Nav Unit and don't care about mirroring your device and using apps on the head screen Go With This - I replaced my burnt out Dodge Nav System and got a touch screen, Nav system with a much better sound than my stock unit. It interfaced with my Steering wheel controls and I added Sirius Radio. Perfect for less than $500 Installed
Pros: Simple Clean Powerful Excellent Sound Seperation Great Navigation
Cons: None so far
Great sound, nav, usb, iPhone Works first time and looks like factory install
Pros: Price and quality.
Very nice unit and installed easily. Fit nicely without any modifications. Works better than expectations.
Pros: Easy to install and is easy to use.
Very cool product with multiple neat features. Easily changes sources and navigation seems to be accurate. Looks great in our 06 Toyota Tacoma.
Pros: Very cool product with multiple neat features. Easily changes sources and navigation seems to be accurate. Looks great in our 06 Toyota Tacoma.
Cons: Volume resets itself when turned off. There is a setting to be changed to correct this. Navigation voice is turned up as high as it will go, but is quite difficult to hear while driving. Not checked to see if there is a setting for this though.
Bluetooth, GPS navigation, rear camera ready, steering wheel control ready and touchscreen are all great functions of his unit. Great Price
Pros: Easy installation, nice look in dash, lots of functions, great price
Installing in a 2008 Dodge Ram for the price. The blue tooth works great with y iphone6
Pros: Good price , very versatile
Cons: None at this time
Ok let me start out by saying this unit probably don't belong in my 01 ranger but I like it a bunch it does what I want and more and was very easy to install. The advisors really are a big Help these guys and gals are extremely helpful. This is one of many I've purchased from Crutchfield and will continue to buy them there.
Pros: Very easy to install
I bought this for my wife's 2006 Ford Explorer and it is way better than I expected. I am a bit of a self-confessed car audio snob and I hate cheap looking or sounding gear in any car I own (even if my wife drives it). The low price made me nervous despite the good reviews here, but I figured it was worth a try and they were totally right! I love everything about this unit so far and would recommend it to anyone. It is much easier to set up than the similar touchscreen Pioneer unit I have in my car. The sound quality is way better than the Kenwood head unit it replaced- for both for the tuner and CD. I'm a huge fan of the volume control knob compared to buttons. Now I want one for my car...
Pros: It is an amazing value and not just because of the low cost. It is by far the best bang for my buck that I have ever received from a car stereo no matter what the price range. It sounds great and doesn't require a 8 hour block of instruction to figure out how to operate it.
Cons: Used Dave for the navigation voice and he is a tattle tail. Go one mile per hour over the speed limit and he is nagging you. Shut up Dave. I'm sure this can be turned off, but my wife likes to laugh at me yelling at Dave, so she refuses to let me. Might be considered a pro if installing it in your teenager's car. The only other thing is that I wish it started up faster. I know this is normal for navigation units, but it is still annoying. Especially if you want to use a backup camera.
This unit is by far the cheapest I could find that included NAV. It works as it should. Never installed this type of thing myself and I did it with the help of Crutchfield in about three hours. By far the best value unit if you're on a budget. Or just cheap.
Pros: -Very cheap for everything it does. -Easy install. Time consuming if you've never done it, but still very easy to do. -NAV works great. -A lot better sound. Has EQ and it made the stereo in my car 20 times better, and louder. I have a loud exhaust on my car and my stereo barely blocked it out when turned all the way up. This unit I have at about 50% volume and its louder/clearer than my old (stock) one.
Cons: -Takes a few seconds to boot up. Not a huge deal for me but if you have a backup camera and the first thing you do is back out of your driveway/parking spot, you're gonna have to wait a little. -Not sure if its a setting or anything, but changing between FM stations also takes about 3 seconds. Not instant sound when you change stations, usually a few seconds of silence like it has to load or something.
the product is easy to use
Pros: switches screens from day to nigh automaticly
Cons: no voice command on bluetooth no tilt screen
We've had the unit installed for two weeks now. This unit has met my almost all of expectations of what I wanted.
Pros: - It was easy to have installed with no modifications. - The wiring harness that came from Crutchfield DOES work! I was told by other competitors that it would cause a check engine light and audible alerts not to work. - All of the features work as described. - Having all of the extra features is a serious upgrade from the stock radio that was in the vehicle.
Cons: - Even after the free map update, the GPS isn't as accurate as we'd like. I still have to use Google Maps or Waze for directions. In a pinch this will be sufficient to get "un"lost. This is one of the main reasons we got this device. - The auto volume function when you drive doesn't work. - I cannot see or find any setting for auto dimming/brightening for night/day on the main display. (If someone knows please tell me) It's really bright at night and too dim during the day.
The install of this went great. Radio works and it's easy to navigate the menus.
Pros: Lots of sources Huge touch screen Works with steering wheel controls
Cons: Takes a while to boot when you turn on the car.
Great product for price. I just wish I took the time to note that it did not have maps of Canada. Odd though that it has comprehensive maps of South America. Additional cost was $69 US or $84 Canadian. The deal was not as awesome as once thought. The support from Crutchfield was excellent. My advisor went the extra mile and answered all the questions I had and was kind enough to include all hw needed and create a shopping cart and provide a link to it in his email response. Follow up support questions were answered quickly even though it was on the weekend.
Pros: The Support is excellent and responses are quick despite time of message sent or phone call. Ease of installation Stereo hw is good for price
Cons: Additional cost for Canadian map for Navi which hurt a bit as Crutchfield charges a bit more. Wish it would show the album cover and song name on the screen.
This unit is very good. Don't assume little money=little quality. Jensen out did themselves
Pros: Great price, great price, easy to use, high quality
Cons: Kind of cartoony graphics in the navigation setting
First of all, the price is fantastic. It is very difficult to find a quality navigation receiver under $400. Installation was a little tricky (it always seems that there is something missing in the manufacturers directions), but a call to Crutchfield customer service fixed that quickly and easily. Sound is fantastic. Start up is a little on the slow side as is loading of CDs and DVDs (not a deal breaker though). Navigation is wonderful and the responsiveness of the touch-screen is pretty good. Pandora and bluetooth integration is seamless. Only two issues I have is one, when the volume is at zero, there seems to be some humming (perhaps I did not connect something correctly, plus can't notice the humming during play). Second, the volume seems to reset to about 14 every time I turn off the unit, then turn it back on later. But, those two aforementioned issues might be due to my ignorance and not indicative of typical expected performance. Overall, I am very pleased with the purchase and extremely pleased with my experience with Crutchfield customer service.
Pros: Seamless integration between the phone and head unit regarding Pandora and Bluetooth. Navigation, CD, and radio are excellent. Touch screen performance is very good.
Bought this to upgrade the Tacoma for rear view camera, blutooth and GPS. Self installed without any issues. Shipping was very quick. Has a lot more features that I will probably not use but the ones I do use work fine. Overall very happy with the purchase.
Pros: Quick shippment, straight forward installation, looks factory when finished.
Cons: Getting all the covers off to begin!
Had a question while installing it, and customer support were nice and friendly, and Awesome! The Device is has a decent sound quality. and nice amplitude.
Pros: The Device is has a decent sound quality. and nice amplitude.instructions that came along with it helped me decide which accessories to buy with it and instructions for my specific vehicle.
Cons: I found this same receiver same model available in market for less money. The Accessories kit that i bought seperately werent that nice quality, the mounting screw split the the mounts of that plastic dash, when i screwed it in.
Great unit for my 2000 Honda Civic. The wiring was simple and straight forward using the supplied instructions. There wasn't much mention about what to do with the E-brake wire, but there's plenty online about it. I had no problems installing and it all worked with no problems whatsoever. The shipping was super fast and Crutchfield is incredible when it comes to helping you out. The sound quality is great in my opinion, and the navigation is perfect so far.
Pros: Crutchfield is awesome to deal with. Great features for an inexpensive unit.
For the price and the features that the Jensen vx7020 has you can't beat it!!! Bluetooth is easy to set up, navigation is also a breeze to use. This unit replaced the factory BOSE unit for my G35. I had my doubts that it would sound good with the factory speakers but it sounds a lot better with the Jensen. Only main complaint that I have is that during bright daylight hours, the unit is hard to see since the face is not anti-glare. Also the unit seems to lag a slight bit for the touch screen feature but it's not enough to make you want to punch it. Other than that, for the price and features that it has, it was a definite good purchase. Will probably get one for my wife's car.
Pros: Bluetooth Navigation Touch screen Color customization
Cons: touch screen not anti-glare can't see screen in bright sunlight slight lag with touch commands
This is a great head unit. Sound is average but installation was great.
Pros: Ease of use
Cons: Wiring harness was difficult to figure out, but Crutchfield support was awesome.
Me love radio 2 times, 1 time when me buy, 2 time when me hear American hip hop music in car.
Pros: Pretty to look at, sound makes my ears happy, happy, happy.
Cons: Too many commercials on radio.
Love the receiver. Even better is the support from Crutchfield. Exactly the right extra parts. Answered all my questions quickly from reviewing other receivers through the installation of this receiver. The entire process took about 1.5 hours and most of that time was wiring the new harness to the receiver. Putting it in the car was a piece of cake.
Pros: Very intuitive. Connects to my phone quickly and easily.
Cons: Took a while to find a location for the microphone that worked. That's not a fault of this receiver though.
Great navigation unit. Easy to install, lots of great features. Not sure why I didn't get one a long time ago!
Pros: Cheap, easy to use, great features
Cons: Remember to hook up the pink wire, or you won't be using the DVD player :(
Great value. Wanted touch screen with a volume knob because i installed in a convertible and sometimes screen is hard to read in sun and glare.Only problem (and it is "glaring") is that the dim function at night when the lights are on is not very dim and the screen is still very bright.
If you are the least bit handy with software, when i upgraded the software, it is easy to change the background wall papers from stock to whatever graphic you want. just load your graphic in to the software and save it as thew wallpaper *.jpg name. very simple
The NAV Map is also very easy to mod, based on Igo software, you can modify the sys,txt file with all sorts of commands to get rid of start up and warning screens, etc. just google IGO navigation for info on this...
All in, a good value
I installed this receiver in my wife's 2007 F150 as an upgrade to the failing factory CD changer. Installation was fairly straightforward, and the interface is intuitive. It doesn't boast huge power, or tons of features, but I purchased it based on the features listed, reviews on Crutchfield, and compatibility with our Apple products. So far, it has functioned very well across all the paces we've put it through. We took a trip to San Antonio from Austin, and mapped every planned stop. The navigation seemed to pick good routes to each destination, and while negatively reviewed here, we didn't find the lack of vocal street name reading a problem - it's listed very clearly on the screen. All in all, we're pleased with our purchase. I plan to add a back-up camera soon, and will post up an update once it's installed.
Pros: Nice interface, decent sound, accurate navigation, good quality for the price.
Cons: Some quirkiness to features that may be solved with more in-depth reading of the instruction manual.
It has all the most wanted features at a reasonable price. Installation was quite easy. Looks and works great!
Pros: Full featured. Works well with my IPhone. Backup camera works well with unit. Looks good in the truck.
Cons: Perhaps a little better instruction as to connecting the two wiring harnesses together would be helpful. However a few calls to Crutchfield experts solved those problems. The fact that the unit takes a bit of time to get booted up and going when you turn the key takes some getting used to.
This is a solid entertainment system for your vehicle. I recently bought and installed two for both my 2012 Nissan Versa and my 2007 VW GTI. It works well with both. Wiring was simple. The unit looks nice in both vehicles. GPS works well as well as aux, usb and dvd player. I haven't tried anything with swapping out the memory card for a larger one yet. Between my wife and I, we have two gripes for the unit. The startup volume is set moderately for my vehicle, but she claims is too high for her vehicle. I am not sure if that can be adjusted, but the volume it is left at is not remembered when restarting. My gripe is more with Crutchfield than the unit. I got the steering wheel adapter and it does not match up with the Jensen unit. It was for other brand like Sony and Kenwood. There were little switches to play with and multiple adapters but after a bit of tinkering I was able to get most of my steering wheel buttons to work. For my GTI I was able to hide both the GPS antenna and microphone in vents. My wife didn't want they so they are secured to the dash of her car. The sticky part for the mic isn't very good and if I redid the install I would strip it and put a small piece of command strip in its place. This isn't an expensive unit and it shows. You get what you pay for but if you want a GPS, Bluetooth, dvd unit, backup camera for a bargain this is it! And all these people saying the wiring is tricky or leaves out anything must have not read the instructions very carefully.
Pros: Price, connectivity, Ease of installation (2 cars), Abundance of personalization.
Cons: Startup volume.
When I opened the box I thought OMG this is going to be a pain to install. But then I found out how easy it was. All the features it has for (1) unit is amazing. When in the nav feature it even tells you that u are over the speed limit WOW awesome . I highly recommend this unit for the person that wants everything in 1 unit.
Pros: Am/fm/cd/DVD/ xm radio/ nav/ and a back up camera in 1 init
Cons: Wiring lil much to try and hide behind the radio but we got it to fit
Now I have real aux inputs. Junk oem Ford radio 6 cd player in my Mustang had aux button but no input. Changing display is somewhat annoying. Screen gets washed out a bit in daylight. I have something of a learning curve ahead on the gps. Most basic radio programing and settings are intuitive. Had all necessary install hardware but recommend you have factory schematics for wiring harness. I am a tech by trade but it took me some time to work out the connections to be sure they were correct. Overall I am very pleased with unit and it looks "factory" in my dash.
Pros: Intuitive basic operation. Manual is comprehensive. All Items for install were provided by knowledgeable Crutchfield rep. Has all connections and inputs you would want. Perfect compatibility with the shaker 500 onboard amps in my car.
Cons: Screen is a bit difficult to see in bright sunlight. Install wiring is a little tricky. I want to connect backup camera but instructions don't show where to connect reverse wire to car wiring.
Wonderful unit, Works great, sounds better than the OEM unit, I like the way the presets have the stations listed. bluetooth works well. I got an optional back-up camera, that feature alone is worth the price of admission.
Pros: Great unit, great price, it dose it all !
very good so far ! no problems except dash kit ? but easy to use and so far everything works great set up easy even Bluetooth works great ! Would recommend it to anyone . And watch some of the videos on line to help you out .
Pros: easy set up - sounds good - GPS works great !
for the money this receiver is awesome. I haven't really used the gps or the dvd player yet but the usb mp3 player, equalizer and display are great.
Pros: nice upgrade from stock, better sound
Cons: display gets brighter when i turn on my lights
My choices were limited due to the age of my vehicle, which is a 2004 Saturn Vue. This unit offered all the features I was looking for in addition to being reasonably priced. The Kenwood that I was considering turned out to be a radio without GPS. The installation of the camera was a bit of a challenge for my installer and cost more than expected. However, the backup camera is huge for me, especially when backing up in congested California parking lots. Everything functions as I had hoped, from playing CDs/DVDs to Bluetooth pairing with my Samsung S4 and USB functions. I have figured out that I can play MP3 music and MPEG formatted videos through the USB connection. The DVD player seems to be more versatile as far as file formats. The touch screen works very well and is easy to see even at midday with bright sun. This was a concern since my factory installed GPS in a new Prius is almost invisible due to reflection on the LCD. The radio reception is perhaps the weakest feature. With so many preset options, I cannot find more than half a dozen clear stations. My only pet peeve is with pre-sale follow-up calls to the specialist. I had decided on this unit but when I called back with a question, ended up with a different sales specialist who took credit. There should be a better system. As far as technical questions after the sale, I am totally impressed with ease and availability of knowledgeable staff. My only reason for giving a 4 star is due to the points I have mentioned.
Pros: Reasonably priced GPS system that offers all the features of more expensive ones. Ideal for older vehicles that you are planning to upgrade in a few years.
Cons: Weak radio reception.
Good fit and sounds good too. Navigation works well also. Used install kit from Crutchfield install was easy.
Pros: Features for the cost.
Cons: Screen has some glare. Hard to see at times.
found to be vary user friendly and easy to install love the nav system too !!!
Pros: everything I needed to know was included in the box about an hour install great product !!
Cons: hooking up the rear camera just a phone call cleared up my install problem
Most things work as they should. Bluetooth doesn't sync perfectly with galaxy s5. Sometimes skips all music when switching gears. Sounds great. Swc are not functional. Crutchfield is incorrect. If You Have A 2006-2012 Impala This System Fits And Works Great! Even with a Swc adapter, they do not work. I had mine professionally installed by the #1 store in the state.
Pros: GPS is nice most times looks great great sound user friendly responsive touch DVD player 6 rca outputs plug composite devices (like an xbox) in GPS is free microphone is amazing (install behind rear view mirror for best results and it's not noticable) remote control is responsive and doesn't need to pointed exactly at the ir reader
Cons: GPS interrupts music GPS loses signal sometimes GPS not Garmin BT SKIPS rarely on galaxy s5 Led color on knob only viSable at night Swc don't work even with adapter Swc on the head unit refuse to save 1 year warranty Some remote functions don't work
Someone already beat me to the punch. This head unit doesn't have all the bells and whistles that it's $1500 counterparts may have, but at this price, it's a steal. Setup was a breeze (not installation though my issues were due to lack of good harness options and fairly involved dash disassembly) and all the features I wanted worked right out of the box. The only reason I went with 4 stars is the lack of polish in the user interface.
Pros: Crazy deal for the price Seamless Bluetooth integration Fairly sophisticated navigation Surprising number of input/output options
Cons: Not as feature rich as it's pricier counterparts Lack of interface options such as defaulting to the Map view
Does everything I want it to, easy to use and configure. Only complaint is that the radio reception is not as good at distance as the 8 yr old OEM unit it replaced. I live out in the willywags. Also it would be nice if the GPS warning that I'm exceeding the speed limit gave a small allowance for "prudent speed". I know, picky picky. All in all, very good unit for the price. Tehnical support very helpful with installation questions.
Pros: A lot of functions, ease of use and appears to be good value for the price.
Cons: Radio reception weaker than expected.
Great Item, great price. It had everything I wanted, great Navi, great sound
Very happy with this deck and crutchfield. for the price this unit is alot better than i expected it to be, all functions work great. GPS is spot on, the touch screen works flawless, bluetooth is clear. purchased the backup camera and that too works awsome. installed in 2006 Ford F350 and it looks and works like factory equipment at a fraction of the cost
first time installer installed radio, it didn't work at all... called Crutchfield ... returned wires and got new wires.... reinstalled radio... everything works, but audio only works sometimes... (after spending hundreds of dollars) the installer is apparently fed up and won't answer my calls to make an appointment to fix the problem. can't give any stars for junk...... Can't find anybody to fix it.... wished I wouldn't have thrown the old one away....
Pros: ??????? doesn't work... survey wouldn't finish without giving it a star..
Cons: no audio
Loved the unit. Sound is excellent, video quality is tops. Bluetooth paired in just several seconds. Perfect fit in my 2014 Jeep Patriot. The map quality is spot on. In a half dozen addresses, it was right to the door. Perfect for LOCAL use. The ONLY fault I discovered in the Jensen VX7020 is that it does not announce the street names.
Pros: All of the above are a huge plus! Would give a 5+++; in street names were announced.
Cons: Maps do not announce street names. Driving local is no problem, but when I visit my daughter in Denver or my daughter in Tampa or sister in Union Lake in Michigan, this would be a major problem. "Turn right" or "Turn left" in 250 yards doesn't cut it when there is an intersection with several streets coming together. And in heavy traffic, I wouldn't want to be looking at the GPS to see which street I want. Other than that .. ok.
Easy to install! Absolutely brilliant navigation. Tons of features. Tons of media formats, great sound! I was so impressed.
Pros: Easy to use GUI
Cons: Lack of video tuning controls for sat tv....like color saturation.
I purchased this unit to install in My wife's car. Easy straight forward installation. Just don't forget to remove the cd transportation screws prior to installation.....
I purchased this unit to replace the basic stock unit in my spouses car. I primarily wanted her to have a bluetooth phone connection and a better GPS screen than what she had been using. This unit was a snap to install and seems to work very well so far. we especially like all the different settings available on this unit.
Radio OTA sound quality is good. Playback of CD and DVD worked flawless. The sound andmicrophone quality of the bluetooth function is very good.
Pros: Good value, GPS system works great, goood bluetooth call quality.
Cons: Time to radio from start up is a few seconds. Takes more touch force than a tablet or phone, though not bad.
Install went fairly easy, except for the fact that Crutchfield did not enclose the installation kit. I had to call, and spoke with tech support and they shipped me out a kit immediately. The remote that was shipped had a dead battery with it. Randomly, the unit will shut itself off and then the saved radio stations are gone which is a pain to set up. The radio itself does not find local stations like it should, you actually have to manually search for what any factory radio would find automatically. And yes the antenna is plugged in. I think the sound quality would be good if I replace my cheap factory speakers. Pandora sounds better than the radio due to digital signal I guess. Lately, when I start the car the lights on the deck come on and the progress bar gets stuck and does not allow the unit to turn on, so I have to turn it off and then back on and then it will usually snap out of it. Very disappointed with that. The navigation seems to work well, haven't used it too much to know for sure. I know the price was cheap on this unit for what it does, but I am not real happy with it overall. Get what you pay for I guess. Now I guess I will attempt to upgrade my speakers in hopes that it will be more enjoyable.
Pros: shipping was quick, tech support offered to fix issue immediately and were very knowledgeable and nice.
Cons: The radio tuning function is not very sensitive in auto find mode, and the mainual search is very difficult to do while driving. The unit sometimes does not power up without holding the button down several times. The touch screen gui interface is not user friendly. I would not recommend this product!
This radio was installed in my 2006 F150. Overall the radio is what I expected. It has great sound and volume, fits well in the dash panel and is pretty intuitive to operate. The radio takes a few seconds to boot up on start up which can be an issue if you are in a hurry particularly if you have a back up camera attached. Not a huge problem for me, but it may be to some people. The navigation works well and instructions are adequate and timely. Crutchfield supplied all the necessary, wiring, connectors and instructions necessary to make the installation go as smoothly as possible. The only real issue that I had with the installation was the interface between the PAC unit and the radio. The biggest installation issues I had were between the software update and the PAC unit. I got the update in the unit with no problem, but when I installed and programmed the PAC unit and go the steering wheel controls to operate, the volume would not turn on when the vehicle was keyed on. I would have to tweek the volume, either up or down to get sound. With Crutchfield's assistance and with several iterations of trials I decided to just return the PAC unit and no use the steering wheel controls.
Pros: Intuitive usage. good navigation. Good sound and volume.
Cons: Steering wheel interface. Hard to see the screen in bright sunlight.
Paid more than I would have at another online retailer for Crutchfields "Tech Support". Crutchfield's $9.95 MasterSheet was a joke..6 or 8 sheets of pics with skimpy instructions. Crutchfield MasterSheet showed a guy prying away with a screw driver from the top. Youtube showed the correct way to take out old head from the bottom...but it was too late, I cracked fascia, and damaged soft vinyl around it, even with the correct pry tools...Support said yes it is quite hard to remove and plastic gets old and brittle...but it was too late. Think twice before buying into Crutchfield's DYS BS.... and inaccurate instructions.
Pros: No waiting for Tech support.
Cons: Inaccurate, superficial "MasterSheet" ....No warning about old brittle plastic, difficulty of disassembling, parts that were not made to be disassembled.
Just installed yesterday. Parts and instructions from Crutchfield and reading other reviews / comments were a big help. Go slow, read and it all went smooth! Radio so far is awesome ... replaced factory ford radio and much better sound. Bluetooth works great (I installed the microphone by drilling a small hole in a dash "Blank spot". GPS Antenna works just fine attached to a metal frame just above the radio, yet hidden under the dashboard. Now I am thinking I will add a camera after all!
Pros: Very easy to install with instructions and supplies via Crutchfield. Take a moment and read user manual ... volume at start up is explained and CAN be set. Free Update for GPS data went smooth on desktop pc. Looks Great - sounds great ... all features work as expected.
Cons: non yet!
Overall a great product. I would have given it 5 stars if the GPS maps were up to date. I've used the free update and still find some missing roads and POIs that should be in the database. I'm working with Tom Tom to solve the problem, but no luck so far.
Pros: Great price for all the features!
Cons: Wiring is a real challenge if you're not an expert.
Considerating what this thing costs its features really surprised. Best of all, its fast and sounds great! Used with polk fronts/rears. Excellent outcome
The radio was an easy install. It works very well. The navigation is spot on and is the latest map. One free download of the map products with the option to update the map in the future. I like the display of the screen. It is bright enough except in direct sunlight. However my $700 Pioneer head unit also washes out in direct sunlight. It has excellent volume range to drive my aftermarket speakers without the extra amp. I certainly annoy the drivers in the next lane when the volume is turned up. It is a really good product and I would buy it again.
Pros: Easy to install. Decent volume range, with or without the amp. Free map update upon purchase.
Cons: The map uses the SD slot and this unit doesn't have a separate slot for music. The USB in the front of the unit blocks the volume knob if you have a large memory stick. I prefer the USB wire supplied with my Pioneer which can be mounted anywhere in the front. However, that required cutting and modifying.
Bought a Jensen VX7020 for our truck. Liked it so much I bought a second one for our car. I think that says it all.
Pros: Looks great, sounds great. Lots of features, intuitive menus, fantastic navigation system.
Cons: Better FM sensitivity would be nice. I live in a more rural area and the station reception is a little weak.
This is a great unit for it's value for my standard 2012 Dodge Durango. The only problem I had was trying to get the steering wheel controls (SWC). For my vehicle, the PAC RP4-CH11 did not work with regards to the steering wheel controls. However, I was able to get my steering wheel controls working with the PAC SWI-CP5. It might be cheaper to get the PAC C2R-CHY4 + PAC SWI-CP5. I even tried the Axxess ASWC-1, which did not work. Being stubborn, I spent hours with tech support with Jensen, PAC, Axxess and Crutchfield. I can't praise the tech support of Crutchfield enough. They bent over backwards trying to help me in every possible way. The PAC tech support was great also. Jensen was (to me) kinda neutral, but at least they tried to listen to me and get me to a point where I needed a voltage meter to test my wiring. At that point I was desperate and decided to try the PAC SWI-CP5 which worked!
Obviously, there are so many variables involved in troubleshooting steering wheel controls. This Jensen unit requires you to go through the 'Learn' configuration on the unit itself to map the steering wheel controls. The main head unit brands like Clarion, Sony, Pioneer, etc. don't have to deal with a 'Learn' process like this Jensen unit has, but they cost more than this unit.
Back-up camera & SirusXM work great. I like the Pandora app on the unit, but if you want to stream other apps (iHeartRadio), you have to use the bluetooth A2DP streaming. Screen is not as bright in direct sun.
Pros: Great value. Sound is great quality. Has most of the main features I think anyone wants. Love the Pandora app. The SirusXM app also shows the channel logo on the screen. Navigation app works great, and comes with a free update. I agree probably with most of the other reviews 'pros' mentioned in here.
Cons: To get my steering wheel controls working, it was time-consuming. Read my review for details on how it was tricky to get the SWC to work on my 2012 Dodge Durango. The screen display is probably not bright enough as I wish, in direct sunlight. Perhaps due to a screen protector that minimizes smudging? Doesn't have an iHeartRadio app, but you can still stream any audio using bluetooth's A2DP. To licence other apps like iHeartRadio would probably increase the price of the unit, so it's a tradeoff.
I've been using the 7020 unit now for a month now and am mostly satisfied with it. Installed it in a 2013 Honda Fit; there was plenty of room behind the unit for the rather numerous wires and harnesses that needed to be connected. In addition to the normal hookups, I also installed an XM receiver, steering wheel controller and, a backup camera. It looks great in my FIT and I find it easy to use and move through the menus. A few things that I might be able to pass along (software version 1.53). The unit boots up at a preset volume however, can be changed to another setting. Adjust the volume to the level that you want and immediately hold down the volume button for about 2~3 seconds. That will be the new boot up volume. I noticed that it did not have as good reception on the FM channels as the old radio so I ran a ground from car chassis to the back of the unit (on the heat sink), it improved somewhat. The Nav "Accept" screen that pops up every time you select the navigation can be suppressed. The NaviExtras toolbox gives you an ominous warning that you may corrupt the Nav SD card if you try to update it. A quick call to Crutchfield and talking to a tech revealed that it was a bogus warning and just to proceed anyway. Worked great and got the free update; thanks Crutchfield! The numerous other things you just need to find in the settings and adjust them.
Pros: Probably the most functionality for the price, looks good in my FIT and, has a decent number of features. If you're looking for a nav unit like this and this is you price range then you may be hard pressed to find much else with all of these bells and whistles and I would recommend it. The extras you get from Crutchfield make it a professional looking and easy install.
Cons: The sound quality is average at best. The navigation has some really, really good features but, my experiences so far with the navigation routing have been absolutely horrible, it takes you all over creation. The updated database is woefully out of date with old speed limits and road routes. It has the potential to be great but falls short in its most important function, navigating. I can only hope these things get addressed in a future update because it detracts from an otherwise good unit.
A great unit updated software and maps after using for a week the update makes the very responsive and updates the maps it has tts voice but does not say name of streets which is a minor take away it re routes in 10 sec or less had the Jensen 9424 in my wife truck it sucked the fm radio works better on the 7020 awesome
Pros: I go primo navi Xm radio very responsive faster then my Kenwood. Touchscreen
Cons: Tts voice no street names
Very nice product
I purchased this unit along with the PAC and XM receiver unit to hook it up to a 2006 Silverado with the Bose system. With a couple of calls to Crutchfield, which were more of the double check/confirmation variety, the install went without a hitch. The unit itself has all the features advertised and the instruction manual is easy to understand. No complaints with the features. I hid the nav antenna under the dash pad on a solid piece of metal framing so that I didn't have to install it on top of the dash or on the roof. The nav signal is perfect even in that location. I installed the hands free microphone at the top of the A-pillar running the wire down the pillar and through the dash. Also, if you have a factor SiriusXM antenna on the roof, you can hook into it instead of using the receiver that comes with the SIrius unit, making that a clean install as well. And of course a big thanks for Crutchfield.
Pros: Easy Install. Features work as advertised.
Cons: None that I can think of.
Very pleased, performs and looks great.
This unit has a very nice display and the touch screen and volume knob have a high quality feel. Navigation works great so far and the antenna sufficiently obtains a signal while mounted to the top of the unit. I absolutely Love that the Pandora app in the head unit pulls the album art from my Android Nexus 5 without plugging anything in.
I'm a bit disappointed that the steering wheel controls have yet to work with my car despite trying multiple things (still need to contact Crutchfield to get this corrected). Also, I've noticed when streaming music via bluetooth the sound cuts in and out maybe once every couple of minutes. Just a quick skip almost like a skipping CD. I assume it's a problem with the head unit and not my phone given that my phone streams music via bluetooth flawlessly on my Kenwood deck in another car and also via a wireless boombox in my house. Finally it's really dumb the volume always comes on at the same (very loud) level. The player should remember the user volume setting when the vehicle is shut off and start there next time the vehicle is started.
Pros: * High quality display * Intuitive menu * High quality touch screen action and volume knob * Excellent nav software * Price * Pandora album art is pulled from Android phone while streaming via bluetooth
Cons: * Bluetooth streaming music skips once every couple of minutes * Volume comes on at same high level whenever car is shut off even if it is turned all the way down * Steering wheel controls don't work yet
This unit has been in my Toyota matrix 2010 for 2 months now. I drive atleast 40+ plus miles a day mon-fri so I've gotten pretty aquantied with this Jensen unit fairly quickly, and even those it tho it has its drawbacks you certainly cannot beat the features and aesthetics that this unit brings for the price.
As others have mentioned, if you were to ask someone how much they think the unit costs; the answer is always $500 or more. I say that to say it will definitely update your dash and give you that new tech feeling with out breaking the bank.
The bluetooth is pretty clear and connect very fast, which surprises me sometimes still.
I love the equalizer it just has made a world of difference while riding on my daily commute, the biggest surprise I would say has been how much I use Pandora now... AND I love it
The GPS... well it does leave features to be desired I won't rehash what others have stated (Street names, latency). But for me it does what I need, and I actually am content with what it does; for the price I paid. Won't drag this on much longer... Buy if you want a touch screen double din in your vehicle with GPS and Bluetooth that looks great. Be aware that the gps does not use Street names.
Pros: *bluetooth is crystal clear *sound improved my stock speakers *Pandora works flawlessly with my android
Cons: *GPS lacking features that should have been easily included *remote control supplied kinda hard to use while driving *only 4 wallpapers
I had the 7020x imstalled in a 2005 Camry along with a Tao backup camera. The pair work very well together. I feel like the car is now in the 21st century. The Navi works very well. At first, the trip function gave turn warnings too late but we were able to readjust the prewarning function. Bluetooth is a great feature and works well with both my wife's and my iPhones. Hands free talk function is automatic and functions well. Sound is decent and the logic is user friendly. Love the 3D graphic view.
The install shopped warned us that not all our steering column controls might work with this unit. But the guy got volume and track advance buttons to function. The only one which did not function is the mode button...not a big deal. One annoying thing is that each start of the car requires that you read and accept the warning before using the navi..probably some federal law.
Pros: User friendly, good sound, great graphics.
Love the stereo...great value! But I can't figure out one issue. I think you'd call it Programmable Turn-On Volume. It seems all of a sudden the turn on volume is too loud so I am trying without success to figure out how it got adjusted upward and how to re-adjust the volume to a lower level with the car/stereo is restarted. Any help is appreciated.
Cons:Crutchfield response on March 31, 2015 If you purchased the stereo from Crutchfield, feel free to contact our Tech Support team. They can help you troubleshoot the situation and see if there might be a fix. Our toll-free Tech Support number is printed on your invoice, and is also available under the "My Orders" tab in the "My Account" section of our website.
I love this new system. It was replacing a broken factory system in my 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The only problem is the rear camera already in my vehicle is not compatible with this radio so I lost the rear camera. The touch screen is great and I like being able to connect my phone via Bluetooth. I had Best Buy install the unit. They forgot to remove the screws from the unit so I thought the CD/DVD player was broke but a quick call to Audiovox helped me fix the issue. Lots of power on the receiver. I have factory installed Boston Accoustics speakers and they can't handle the wattage this unit can give.
Pros: Touchscreen, Bluetooth, navigation system, DVD for use when parked.
Cons: Lost rear camera functionality, pandora app only connects to Android phones but I can stream on my iPhone via the USB port.
Most functions on this radio work very well: FM, CD, Nav, SXM Interface. The USB interface is bad - it's like windows folders - yuk. The AM radio does not work. The Metra Kit Connector is terrible - the male connection pins are too thin and too narrow to properly interface with the female radio harness connector. Every bump in the road will intermittantly disconnect wiring to lighting dimmer wire, speaker wires, power supply, ground, etc. Let's just call it the Metra kit an absolute train wreck. If you've already bought this and have these problems buy the Schose connector. Also if you get a constant buzz or crackle take the thicker black wire with white stripe on the Schose connector (external amp ground lead), crimp on an eyelet connector and take it to chassis ground or a screw on the metal back side of the radio. And gee... why did I pay the extra money to buy this from Crutchfield? Because they used to have great connection kits and they used to take care of problems. And before you think oh this guy doesn't know what he's talking about I installed hundred of car stereos back in the 70's when I was a kid. Since then your Uncle Sam taught me how to wire aircraft and I earned and Associates Degree in Avionics Technology and a Bachelors Degree in Industrial Technology. But you don't need that much education to realize that a Metra Kit Connector is a piece of junk. Crutchfield are you listening to your customers? I don't think so.
Pros: Good FM, Good CD, Good Nav, Good Blu Tooth for phone. But the bad really outweighs the good > Crutchfield please ditch Metra kits.
Cons: AM Radio DOES NOT WORK. The Metra Kit Connector is absolute junk. Very disappointed with Crutchfield, it used to be a great company. When I called to discuss problems the tech had no response to my comments about the Metra Kit Connector's pins being too narrow and too thin to make good connections. He did recommend the Schoshe connector which I had to buy elsewhere. Tech did not offer me a refund for the piece of junk Metra Kit Connector.Crutchfield response on March 30, 2015 Thanks for taking the time to submit your review. Our Tech Support team has a suggestion that might help with the AM radio reception. They'll be reaching out to you. As for the Metra harness, we have used this particular harness for years without any problems. We have refunded the cost of the Metra piece since you chose to get the Scosche harness. Don't hesitate to contact us if you have any further issues with the stereo.
Top of the line in my opinion. Great price!! Easy to use easy to install.Backup video system is very very nice when hooking up my boat.. Bluetooth is great!!
Pros: Great gps,backup camera,blutooth,sound quality
This thing its grate.
nice head unit for the money does what it should
Pros: great price
Cons: none yet
Super feature set. A little annoyed at the boot time. Jeez people, maybe I'm an old curmudgeon but it's a freakin radio... why does it have to 'boot' like a computer but I guess they all do now.
Pros: Great features. Excellent EQ options, sub out, camera inputs, USB interface, updatable GPS
Cons: Screen is unviewable when the sun hits it. But I suspect that's true of any touch screen unit, so you have to think about it going in if you're going touch screen.
Very high Bang for Buck
Pros: Price, Naviextras.com Data base, and fairly simple to use.
Cons: Need to buy an anti-glare shield if you use it when the sun is out. Needs option to display current time on Nav display. Current/displayed TOD not derived from GPS. Mount Baker Hwy speed limit not 50; it is 55. Unable to correct speed limit data base error. Makes speed limit warning unreliable.
The unit itself is sleek and fits perfectly. I wish it was matte black instead of the shine. All the features work great. I love the Pandora connectivity on it. The GPS works great but I do need to get the update on the maps.
Pros: Easy install, user friendly.
Cons: glare from the sun tends to wash out the screen, and makes it hard to see.
I installed the Jensen VX7020 on my 2010 Nissan Frontier Pro-4X King Cab. It was my first time installing a aftermarket radio and it wasn't too hard. The unit works really good, I like the way it looks, and the navigation is nice to have. My only real complaint with the product is you can't bluetooth pandora unless you have a android (I have a iPhone 5S) and I cannot change songs when i stream music from my phone; Other than that it really makes me enjoy my truck more and if I could do it again I would still choose the Jensen because of the price.
Pros: Looks good, Nav works perfectly, Good price
Cons: Hard to stream music with iPhone
Upgraded my 2007 Ford Expedition and has proven to be a major improvement from the stock unit. The installation was much easier than anticipated with a complete install done in 45 minutes! The navigation update took longer than the actual install.
Pros: Looks like a factory unit---back lights are programmable to match instrument illumination. Free navigation upgrade from the internet (make sure to have a micro SD available and ready for your computer). I live in a new development which the update included. Very economical compared to other available units. Quick customer service from Crutchfield. Much more power, and customizable with the very easy to use integrated EQ!
Cons: The ONLY reason I won't rate this unit a "5" is because of the lag powering up the unit. I'm slowly getting use to being halfway down the street before the unit comes on, often startling me with a loud/sudden volume of music. This might also hinder the back-up camera feature a bit useless. The instruction did not include the code required for pairing my iPhone, however Crutchfield supplied one in less than two minutes of being on the phone.
great radio, actually now, have the same one in two vehicles. Easy to install, great instructions, only negative is that it doesn't pause the satellite radio like my other ones do. Camera, XM, DVD ,GPS all work great
Pros: works great
Cons: doesn't pause satellite radio.
Great product for a good price! Purchased the unit as a gift to my wife for her 2001 Chevrolet Suburban. As noted by Crutchfield the unit is not designed to fit, but with a little custom work on a mounting bracket and some minor remolding to the trim, it fits great. Also added a backup camera and a rear monitor for the kids to watch movies on road trips. Installation did take a little bit of research locating wiring diagrams and such to correctly wire the parking brake and reverse light switches into place. However, in a vehicle that was designed for this type of unit I don't think it would have been as much of an issue. Overall, great product at a great price that worked exactly as is advertised. Also, you have 90 days within activating the unit to update the stock maps to the most current ones at no cost.
Pros: A lot of features, great price, flexibility to make additions later.
Great head unit, love the wide range of options it provides. I have it in my 2013 Nissan Sentra SV. Makes my system sound great even without a sub. I only wish it would allow custom background images, and that it supported more video formats for playback from USB. It'd be nice to have Bluetooth music info display also. Still a wonderful unit. Looks very nice in my car.
Best value for the $ on the market. Had a few technical issues relative to the software but due to Excellent support from Crutchfield staff all were quickly resolved. The unit looks and operates well. If you can think of it you can probably make the unit do it. Custom lighting options allow you to make it look like the rest of your panel. You can configure the nav display in many different ways to display what you want when going to a destination or when no destination is selected, time left to go, distance, arrival time, current time, speed, speed limit. And even visual or aural warnings about exceeding speed limits, etc. really almost too many options to list, sound is really good, awesome when engaging the optimal equalizer. Very user friendly and intuitive controls. Looks good works even better. Easy install with Crutchfield kits.
Pros: Best value on the market. Many configuration options from operational controls to color and display options. Excellent support from Crutchfield and Jensen
Cons: Nav software update provider contact is only through email, made better by Jensen support
Very satisfied with the unit for the money spent. It replaced a stock Ford AM/FM/single CD factory unit in a 2014 F250 XLT. The sound is much crisper and louder than the factory unit. I also ordered a Maestro control module and wiring harness so that I could use the factory steering wheel controls. I also opted for the Sirius/XM module, as I already had an Onyx satellite radio that I was removing and could transfer the subscription from. The install was pretty straighforward, except it took a little time to splice the 11 or 12 wires from the Jensen harness to the Maestro harness for steering wheel controls and to plug into the factory sound system harness. I didn't want to cut into any factory wiring, and didn't have to. Although it's not mentioned in the Ford instructions, I had to cut the rearmost ears off of the plastic mounting brackets that attach to the side of the unit. Otherwise there's no possible way it's going into the recess deep enough to mount. I'm very well satisfied with the quality of the unit for the money spent. Yes, you can find it cheaper elsewhere. But chances are good that you won't be able to pick up the phone to get almost immediate tech help if you run into any trouble spots during the install or operation after the install like you will at Crutchfield. That was worth a few more dollars to me. I'm no pro, but the install looks near factory with the kit provided by Crutchfield.
Pros: Crutchfield chat set me up with everything I needed when I explained the application and what my goals were. Tech support easily steered me in the right direction with my one minor wiring issue during the install. Like the size/design/colors of the touch screen. Easy to navigate menus.
Cons: It took a Jensen rep to explain how to fix a clock issue. Crutchfield rep suggested a firmware update but sent me a link to outdated firmware that was older than what was factory installed on the unit. Some issues I tried to address from the operator's manual, but some sections were not specific enough. Not really a con, but can be purchased many places cheaper. Crutchfield's rapid tech support when I needed it negates any price premium. Map updates were a pain. They need Mac suppoCrutchfield response on February 10, 2015 Thanks for the kind words in your review, and also for the info about the firmware update. That's the most recent update that Jensen has published on their site. Apparently, the receiver is running the most up-to-date firmware available. I recommend this product to the people because the navigate is so good
Pros: Very very good the sound is touch screen the navigation everything is so good
Cons: Nothing is so goo
Only installed a few days. Install was not bad, but some technical information was incorrect. Installed in a chev colorado 2007, tech says modifications to bracket ! True, but modification is nothing to do with truck, it was the universal plastic bracket, with five different sets of tabs on it, for multiple vehicles. Modification was a matter of removing some of the plastic tabs off the mounting bracket kit ! Asked if I can use existing xm antenna and not use xm antenna from oem radio, tech said yes/ false. Antenna of radio is a GPS antenna, not an xm antenna. Overall this is a cheap level GPS unit. Worse part is how weak the screen display is with sunglare from sides. Had to build a sunshade for mine. Without sunglare the screen is nice. Clock display is only on music display screens, and not on GPS screen. To change things, you almost always hit back to MENU screen to go to another level screen. Sound volume to me, is more then I will ever use with four speaker in my truck. It is rated half of the radio wattage it replaced, and no complaints at all for this point. My use is mostly xm, usb, and gps mods. Changing sound mods, does change for each function. But a volume screen for each mod is available to make some sound level adjustments, so when changing mods, the volume will be close to same level output. Gave it three stars over four stars, because of the sunglare washout ! Not to spend twice the price to upgrade, it is a good radio with some conditions
Pros: Very good sound, GPS does work fairly well so far. This is with gps antenna sitting on dash too. Screen view at nite is nice.
Cons: Sunglare does wash out the screen, like a $75 tom tom unit. Most time the menu screen has to be used to change things or mod. Clock does not display in GPS mod.
The unit performs as advertised and was easy to install. The Crutchfield team hooked me up with the correct installation gear, which made the job that much easier. It's a little slow to startup, and the navigation screen is a little slow, which is why I gave it 4 stars vs. 5. The only 'surprise' was I couldn't play a movie because the vehicle's OEM wiring harness does not have a lead for the Parking Brake. Once again, the Crutchfield tech was able to look up which wire from the brake sensor (above the e-brake pedal) was the right one to tap into and I was able to splice into it and run it to the brake sensor wire on the Unit's wiring harness. The touch screen performance is acceptable. Radio reception is good as well, Only complaint is the RDS text is really small so it's not easily readable while driving. It does not stand out, so if you don't know the unit has that feature you probably will not see it.
Pros: inexpensive (not cheap). Easy to install.
Cons: Small RDS text. Slow to turn on. Navigation is slow. Maps are difficult to update.
I'm giving this head unit 5 stars because it has performed exceptionally well over the past 8 months I have owned it. At first I was scared because it was half the price of a lot of DVD receivers and this Jensen still has GPS! The unit is in my 1999 Toyota Tacoma and had definitely added tons of capacity to the sound of the truck. The GPS works great with tons of l nice features, Bluetooth and hands free also work like a dream. I have not experienced any problems with pandora or really any part of the system at all. Crutchfield did and amazing job with making sure you have all the necessary parts and wires and instructions. Wiring was a breeze and there was no permanent modifications or adapters needed to insta it. It almost looks factory in the dash other than the difference in the matte and gloss finishes. The touch screen isn't as crisp as you'd say on like an iPhone or most smart phones but gets the job done well. Grounding the parking brake wire to watch videos was also easy as I found a ground on the driver side kick panel. All my buddies love riding with me no me that I have a stereo that produced sound MUCH better than stock and I also have my playstation in it.
Pros: Great price, good features, great sound/tuning, nice fit/finish, and rhat you're able to receive if from crutch field because they gave me much more confidence in my first head unit purchase and install.
Cons: For $350... None, buy it
This is a great unit and the tech support is the greatest
Pros: easy to install and operate
Excellent value and performance. I opted for the sirus/xm option. Replacing the stock head unit in my GMC Canyon it went together easier than was expected (Crutchfield warned I would have to modify a bracket but it slipped right in) I'm a Samsung fan so I'm a little disappointed with the limited android integration all though the hands free works perfectly and is better than I expected. Pandora is the only android function so if my wife's phone costs me too much data, I guess I'll have to get her an iphone, cause this receiver rocks. Ran it for a month on its own power and was way better than stock, then added a 5 channel amp and sub, now I just have to worry about someone killing the battery. 5* for sure...you can't beat this unit for the money.
Pros: GPS is rock solid in the sticks and in the city. System control is excellent, radio reception excellent, dvd/c playback is excelent, hands free excellent.
Cons: Pandora is laggy, no android file system. Not Cons except I had to call to figure it out: The volume control can be programed to come on at any desired level, the book doesn't explain this, so till I figured it out it was turning up my 600 watts halfway everytime I turned it on. (Press and hold the volume for three seconds sets it to current level)...dvd brake lead is looking for ground...gps software update Incorrectly reports that you shutdown the unit wrong just ignore it once and it works.
Easy to install. The came with directions and installation kit for free. It took me about an hour to install.
Pros: You get a great all around stero for on price.
Installed this unit in a 2005 Chevy Silverado Z71 Awesome unit Love the sound and functions.
Pros: easy to use, great sound, navigation is real good. A++
Cons: none so far
This is a very good system for the price. I originally thought I could install it myself, but it was not like installing a stereo in a car back in the '80s. I wanted to keep my Ford Sync and steering wheel controls. I had a professional install it for a reasonable price. I am still experimenting with all the settings to get what I want, but am very happy with it. The free navigation update that came with it was easy to install. Bluetooth pairing with my Android was simple. I also enjoy the Pandora connectivity. I did not connect my backup camera to the system as that was already connected to my rear view mirror. As far as the faceplate, Milan Maple is the darker color and was a perfect match to my Ford Lariat.
Pros: This is a great system.
Cons: If possible, an anti-glare touch screen.
Great radio has more functions that ones costing twice as much. I wanted to replace disk mounted Sirius radio and GPS. Radio arrived very quickly. Instructions for installation in my vehicle (Scion XB 2009) were e-mail and fairly easy to follow. Was up and running in under 30 minutes (not counting connecting the 2 supplied connectors together) Very pleased with the Radio and Crutchfield.
Pros: Everything works So many features Updating the GPS software and Maps was very easy Radio and Siriusxm sound great. Tech support when needed Crutchfield had the instructions for connecting the SWC control on hand
Cons: Not a big issue, Steering Wheel Control (SWC) unit missing instructions on how to connect to Jensen radio
Great price. Easy to install. Everything works as it should so far so good.
Pros: Easy to use, easy to customize. Has good sound for the price you pay.
Cons: GPS is a little slow at startup but works good
works Great, it sounds very good.
Great Radio / GPS. Installed on Jan 1, 2015. Intuitive controls and relatively easy to install. Has a lot of great "Gee Whiz" features. Once my relatives see it, they may decide to buy one too. I would highly recommend this product.
Pros: I just wanted a radio to replace the original in my wife's Saturn Vue, but this is "wayyy cool". It has features that are on the cutting edge of technical evolution!
Cons: I only wish that I bought this sooner!
This unit replaced a stock radio in a 2012 Toyota Camry. My father wanted in car GPS and was tired of fiddling with the portable Garmin he had. The installation was easy enough, however I was not able to get the steering wheel controls to work. I do plan on trying again, but for now it's not a big deal. The interface is nice and responsive, clear, and easy to follow. There are plenty of connections and I plan on installing a back up camera at a later date. One of my favorite features is the Pandora app that takes over control from the phone. Lastly, the speakers sound excellent and the EQ features are perfect for what my father needs.
Pros: Interface, Sound, Connectivity, Controls
Cons: I was confused by the steering wheel controls, but to someone else it might be second nature.
Bought it for the wife when factory radio broke. She loves it.
My Daughter absolutely loves this unit. It fit nicely into her Honda Civic. Easy install. I plan to put the Jensen 7020 into another vehicle. This also keeps her eyes up on the road. Thanks for the help
Pros: Fit nicely into the 2010 Honda Civic with the dash conversion kit. Great price to upgrade a car. Keep eyes off the phone and on the road! Huge plus.
Cons: Dash kit does not match color well.
Great product for the money. A few shortcomings, but overall full featured. Support from Crutchfield was outstanding.
The radio is nice and does it's job well. I've yet to learn to turn off the FM radio when i am using the navigation. The radio will stop when the navigator speaks but I would prefer to turn off the radio completely. It's most likely my fault that I can't find the "off" buttons (yet). I have trouble with the radio trip which I will review in a separate review.
Pros: Nice radio etc.
Cons: 1. The mounting (Toyota Sienna Van) protrudes out from the radio and I couldn't get the little door open to remove and reload the first free map without clipping the hinges. 2. The display tilt's back due to the dash leaning back. This gives me glare in the daytime. 3. The navigator is also not very bright. That may be the fault of the camera.
Installed this in an 09 Dodge Ram. Anyone wanting to use this unit in this vehicle needs to know that modifying the sub dash is needed. Crutchfield tells you this. However, for me it was very time consuming and frustrating. I ended up CARFULLY using a hacksaw to cut the metal plate on each side and then rolling the metal edge (top bar and bottom bar) away to get clearance. That was easy and solved the fit problem (should have thought of this first). Radio is great! I have had no problems with it. It was as advertised and sounds great. I do not have steering wheels controls so I can not comment on that. It's not as fancy as the factory unit in my Explorer but the Jensen is loaded with options for the money. I'm very satisfied and would recommend this unit to those who do not wish to pay $600 plus for a high end unit.
Pros: Nice display, very customizable, works well with my iPhone 5, great DVD picture, gps is accurate, equalizer is nice, sound is good.
Cons: I read the other reviews before purchasing so I knew the little things others had issues with. The single issue I have with this unit is when listening to satellite radio your memory presets are 2 clicks away then you only see a few at a time and have to scroll. It would be nice if you could see some presets from the main Sirius/XM screen. I have not found a way to customize this.
I might rate this unit higher later, but have only had it in for about a week now, and am still learning how to use it. As always the tech support at Crutchfield made researching, purchasing, and installing this unit a rewarding experience. Lots of Q&A leading up to the selection, then some key advice during install. I don't have the factory JBL unit, or steering wheel controls, so had to go with the harness requiring assembly, and it was real straightforward - color to color and labeling. I used the factory mounts along with the Metra installation mounts (the face plate needs them), and got a much more solid result. The additional screws provided were relatively useless, other than to hold the plastic Metra mounts in place until the factory metal mounts went on. The Sirius XM install and activation worked as advertised. Still in process of updating navigation with the Naviextras people, while waiting on a SD to SD micro adapter. Fit and finish match just right. Everything worked first time it was powered up. I just have the antennas sitting in the corners of the dash at windshield (nav on left, xm on right). It's going to take some time to fully learn and appreciate the unit, but right away the control over sound with the equalizer options, and bluetooth are noticeable improvements over factory. I did not have navigation before, so will not complain about any of the features associated with that, but have already found ways to adjust settings others complained of.
Pros: Great price for the package. Noticeable sound improvement, control, and on screen graphics for iPod. Great fit and solid installation. Very pleased that with careful attention to installation instructions and tech support it worked in all aspects, and did not require any troubleshooting.
Cons: Nothing significant.
The radio is slow at start up and mine has been freezing up a lot.
Cons: Can't set a family pictures as wallpaper. Radio does not pick up stations good.
Nicely built unit, but the instruction can be difficult to follow, thank goodness Crutchfield included their version of the install instructions
Pros: Price, quality
Cons: Instruction lacking.
Installed 7020 in my 2005 Chevy Silverado. Installation was easy and neat. No cutting or modifying my dash. I had read a couple of install warnings and it appeared I would have to cut the rear support to install this unit, not true. I put the rubber mount on the rear of the unit and it slid right into the original radio spot in the dash. I installed the included dash kit and put the factory dash trim back on and was amazed how nice it fit. It looks like it came that way from the factory, no gaps and did not need the included filler piece. I bought the RP5 gm11 harness which kept my steering wheel controls. There was a lot of wires and the RP5 box to get behind the radio but it all fit no problem. I added the Sirius receiver to the head unit, another box that had to go behind the radio. The factory satellite antenna does not plug into the Sirius receiver and there is not adapter. I did not remove my factory antenna to replace it with the antenna that came with the Sirius receiver. I used the antenna that came with the Sirius receiver. I mounted it behind the radio and zip tied it to the AC duct and it works just fine. The GPS antenna plugs into the back of the head unit and I also mounted this antenna on the AC duct and it works just fine.
Pros: very impressed as to how it mounted and looks in the dash, looks as close to factory as it can be. Sound quality is very good. Touch screen is easy to use. For the price you can't do any better.
Cons: No big cons just a few things I wish it did. GPS doesn't say the names of the streets, just tells you which way to turn. When Using the GPS and on the radio screen, you have to manually switch back to the GPS screen to see what's happening when a turn is announced. It would be nice if the GPS screen would pop up automatically when a turn is about to happen. There is no clock on the GPS screen. Bluetooth works fine and easy to pair. Incoming calls are a bit loud even when vol is turned down.
Great head unit for the price. Installed in 2004 Pontiac GTO start to finish only 3 hrs to install and looks factory....Very Happy so far!
Pros: Has Everything I need including Navigation
Great quality, great functions. Maps been 100% accurate. Having problem with adding steering wheel controls, but that's on me for trying without using the directions. Sound quality and Bluetooth are excellent.
Cons: Not listing cameras on gps, but that's why others cost more
This is a terrific head unit. I installed it into a 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche using a CRUX SOOGM-15 wiring interface recommended by Crutchfield and everything works well including all the steering wheel controls of volume, seek, source and program. Touchscreen is clear, sharp and bright and is very responsive to your touch. I wired the pink wire to ground so that DVD would play without applying the emergency brake. Instructions are good and clear for wiring to the CRUX. Sound is loud and robust. DVD CD playback is good, radio and bluetooth work well. Navigation is gorgeous, user friendly and accurate and backup camera displays well. The only drawback is that it takes about 10 seconds for the unit to boot up after you start the car. I used an American International dash kit and it looks like a factory installed unit. However my biggest compliment goes to Crutchfield. I called them a few times for technical support and they were always responsive. No hold time. English speaking. Knowledgeable. Very helpful in wiring the Jensen and CRUX. Additionally, they were very helpfuI in resolving a problem I had with the first unit I received. Everything worked except for the navigation. A call to Crutchfield technical concluded that the Jensen nav was defective. They express mailed me another unit and it arrived in two days on Saturday morning. I transferred the dash mounting kit to the new unit and plugged in the CRUX and voila, EVERYTHING WORKED! WHOOPEE.
Pros: Everything, Great Value!
Cons: The only drawback is that it takes about 10 seconds for the unit to boot up after you start the car.
Purchased as a replacement for my factory radio in my 2007 GMC. I am very pleased with this product, had a little trouble with getting the steering wheel controls to function with the radio. Thanks to customer support they figured out the issue and corrected the problem right away. Sent out the updated control module immediately. once wired in everything was perfect. Radio has good sound and easy to operate.
Pros: Easy to operate, works great with the Iphone 5 using Pandora.
Cons: GPS antenna fitting is a little to long have to modify the dash interior for a proper fit.
this is an incredible unit for the cost, I replaced an older Kenwood unit with this in my Ford F150 and the sound is incredible, Bluetooth is easy, and the navigation is an awesome bonus!
Cons: Nothing I see!
Got the replacement NAV SD Card from Jensen, plugged it in.....Works perfect! Love this head unit. It does it all for a price I can afford.
Pros: Has all the features I would want.
Navigation did not work right out of the box. Updated the Micro SD nav card, did system update, and still no go. Called Jensen (Adiovox) and they are sending me a new Nav card, and also said that if that doesn't work they would send me a new unit. So, we'll see how this works out. Despite the non-working Nav, I must say this is a feature rich Head Unit and I'm enjoying it very much. It has really improved the sound of my Expedition! Crutchfield made the potentially complex install as painless as possible with their wiring adapter and master sheet.
Pros: Lots of features for a very reasonable price! Excellent sound!
Cons: Questionable quality, that Jensen will overcome with good support.
Awesome unit for the money Would highly recommend
Pros: Lots of bells and whistles
Cons: Gps a little slow
Unit came packed well and easy to install, took about 3 hours from start to finish. Had to call tech service when I got it hooked up and had 1 wire that needed to be hooked up so the amp would work, otherwise everything worked great
Pros: easy hook up, sounds great for the money
Cons: GPS is rather dated, could be better
I installed this in my wife's 2002 Lexus ES300 and it is a great unit. Looks like a factory install with the Metra dash kit, perfect paint match to OEM. I mounted the GPS antenna behind the Metra dash kit plate and it works just fine. Total install took 30 minutes.
Pros: Great look and fit in car. Many options with all the different settings.
Cons: I have not found any cons as of yet.
This! I couldn't be happier!!! Super easy installation, great sound quality, and the features work great! Pandora and the Bluetooth features are amazing! Maps could be a little more accurate, tells me to turn in 100 ft when I should have turned already. There might be a setting I haven't looked through yet though. The voice guidance is not annoying, but the maps themselves are pretty up to date and by the looks of it can be updated easily.
Pros: Feature rich, works great, price is amazing!
Cons: Maps slightly off, steering wheel controls require an extra adapter I was unaware of.
Works like it should and is better than my factory radio.
It was a very fast and easy installation. Sounds excellent. Came with everything i was looking for and for a great price
Pros: Bluetooth, Navigation
Cons: Nothing so far
This unit is just that, AMAZING! Very user friendly, big touch screen, I love it. Great upgrade for your factory radio plus a few extras to stay in touch with today's technology (Bluetooth, Satellite Radio).
You just can't buy more for the dollar than this entry level navigation receiver!
Pros: Very good value for the dollar
Cons: Does not display song title, genre, elapsed time, etc. during Bluetooth play.
I cant say enough about this DD unit it really has everything and it works extreemly well, i have been installing sysems in cars for years and for the money this unit is hard to beat!!!!!!
Unit is precisely what I needed. My truck is my office so Bluetooth for my phone is critical, being able to use SatNav to find the next customer is terrific. Installation was quick and easy and the system is very nice. Thanks to Crutchfield rep who chatted with me and recommended the system.
Pros: Ease of install. Features and functionality
Cant say enough good things about this head unit. It is everything I want and nothing I don't. I installed this about a month ago with the help from tech support, on the phone for like 4 hours. It was way more involved on the install than I bargained for but thanks to tech support helping me out we got it in and it looks great and is by far the best system I've ever installed in a car/boat/truck in my life.(I installed a lot of audio products in my day and this is the best) The gps took a bit to get customized to what I wanted it to do but its all there and is totally on point and the audio settings just thump like nothing else (better than my eclipse that I used to have and I was a big supporter of them). For the money you cant beat this setup, just be prepared to spend some time installing it (and the time was totally worth it!) Best system for the money by far. Crutchfield...thank you once again for having the best products and the best customer service ever!!!
Cons: when I shut the car off it changes the radio station but no biggie....that's what the memory is for.
The unit itself seems satisfactory. The GPS software is a problem...can't get it to link for map download and the Naviextras support is almost nonexistent. Still not resolved
The features are easy to get around in. And for the price you can't go wrong. This item was very easy to install. With Crutchfield's installation support ie doc's online and free phone support you can't ask for a better deal.
Pros: Installation a breeze. features, and the price
Cons: I can't think of any yet. If I do I'll post later.
Easy to install. Nice unit, very pleased with it considering it was much less expensive than comparable units. The GPS is not the best around - its sent us on some really odd routes compared to the routes GPS apps on the phone selected -- but all in all I'd say its a winner.
Pros: Easy to install Value priced USB port in the front of the unit
Cons: GPS software not the best around, but not terrible. A little slow booting up when you start the car.
Perfect for my limited budget and still gave me the features I needed. Great features. So far so good with functionality.
Pros: Price for features. Simple layout. Interfaced well with stock bose system, OnStar & steering wheel control.
Cons: Anti-glare(satin sheen) screen would have been cool. Install docs lacks details for the vehicle.
I absolutely like this product. The best thing is the customer support Crutchfield offers.
Great product, with a price that's less than half for the next comparible model.
Pros: Great navigation Pandora interface hands free blue tooth
Cons: can't customize your own background image
Everything worked but the unit was slow responding and the GPS has a way to go, works but routes you strangely, will not change routes, and the GPS kept telling me I had further to go when I was there, signal off more than 1000 ft. For the price they did a good job but I upgraded to a Kenwood DNN991HD and wow what a difference. You get what you pay for.
Pros: Everything worked right out of the box, no problems hooking up, mounted to vehicle with a nice factory look.
Cons: Unit is slow, GPS routing does some strange things, my house to the grocery store is a straight shot down 1 road 2 miles, it had me driving through back roads, with lots of stop signs, and about a mile further to the store. Then missed the store by a long way. Had .2 mi to go by the GPS when I arrived. Same for all locations I went to. Had me take the wrong freeway exit in the wrong lane to one location and drove 4 miles of congestion to a business that was right off the freeway exit, 2 exits up
I installed this in my 2001 F250. Everything I needed came with the radio. It required a bit of modification to the dash but that is because the dash has a smaller opening. The picture is crisp and clear, easy to see in the sunlight as well as the night. I like the instant on backup camera, on my truck that is a huge plus. The 6volts out on the low level out really makes my amp hit hard and the adjustable colors for the controls allowed me to make it match my dash almost exactly. The Sub out control is a nice touch too. Mapping works well and I found a few places on-line to get red light cameras added to the iGo mapping. I like to stream music and almost all of my music apps work with the Bluetooth controls. I didn't realize it had app control until I started messing around with it. There are still a ton of things I am finding in this radio. It also looks like they are listening to these reviews. There is an update on the Jensen Mobile website that adds even more features for free. I found these listed - 1: Adds programmable Turn-On volume. 2: Corrected Bluetooth / Back-Up camera issue. 3:Added Back-Up camera Normal / Mirror Image. 4.Keyless Disc Eject.
Pros: 6 Volt Out, App control, changeable back light colors, price, charges my phone from the USB jack and can run my HD too. I found that you can adjust the BT volume and Sat volume in the settings, this helps because Sat always seems a little quieter then radio or disc.
Cons: Not really any I have found, never understood the remote control on a car stereo but that's not really a negative.
I wish the Jensen software development team had gone the final mile with this one. The interface has several bugs that are bad enough to overshadow the stereo's many good points.
The touchscreen display is awkward to use. Browsing through the music collection, swiping does not work. You have to touch small arrow keys in the box corners. Selecting items in the library requires two distinct taps. Tapping midway through the scroll bar usually works to make a large scroll, but occasionally it doesn't. Screen-changing buttons are sometimes top-left and sometimes bottom-right, and when they're top-left, bottom-right brings up a keyboard that you must tap bottom-left to get rid of.
The most aggravating bug is that when an album finishes playing, the audio player switches screens to "Alphabetical by Song Title". Even worse, if the player is switched on and nothing was being played, it automatically plays the first song alphabetically, loudly. I'm getting very tired of "A.D.D.".
Other bugs include failing to update the album art sometimes. Occasionally the track slider stops updating (the song continues playing, but the time show 0 seconds). There is no way to queue albums, and if you preselect an album in "List" while playing and go back to the now playing page, when the album ends, it kicks you out of that menu and back into alphabetical song order.
Most of these bugs are fairly minor, but together indicate a lack of polish and are enough to make the user experience unpleasant.
Pros: Plays music. Maps work. Way better than the stock stereo it replaced.
Cons: Many bugs in user interface reduce usability. There don't seem to be any firmware updates for the device, either, so there's no way for them to get fixed. Poor quality glue on mic mount (it falls off when it gets warm). Touch screen interface requires too much attention, making selecting music while driving dangerous. No way to queue music to alleviate that. At certain elevations in maps (2-3000'), the terrain color is the same as the road color (yellow), making roads impossible to see.
Love this unit. What more can i say. It is a bit slow to boot up, but it is absolutely outstanding. Other brands/units cost hundreds more and may have a few more features., but i can't imaging them being any better. Sounds great & works perfectly. Installation took about 2 hours in my jeep liberty. Don't hesitate to buy this unit. The Crutchfield support team is the best!
Pros: Easy installation, looks great in my 2012 jeep liberty, sounds great, even with my factory speakers, feature rich. Lot of bang for the buck.
Cons: Slow to boot up, when backup camera is activated it interrupts bluetooth connection.
I've had the stereo install for about 1 month now. It seems to work well, but could be easier use. It seems to have a lot of little issues that bug me. It doesn't dim the display at night and make it brighter during the day. You have to manually do this. It does a lot, but trying to navigate through it to change a setting can be troublesome. Installation directions are limited. Very happy that I bought it through Crutchfield because their support is great.
Cons: Difficult of use no auto dim for night use
I love my radio and the Crutchfield support team is absolutely the best. They were very helpful and patient and I would definitely buy from them again. Amazing!!!!
Installed in our motor home. Very pleased with stereo/cd/Sirius,and Bluetooth. Navigation system is ok!
Pros: Good cost value compared to other models
Cons: Had some frustration because the wiring harnesses on new motor homes are modified. I had to fabricate/modify the wiring harness. Crutchfield technicians were very helpful.
I purchased this unit from Crutchfield after owning two foreign made types, I was hoping for a better audio experience. And thats what I got, terrific sound compared to my previous units. Overall, I like the customizable color schemes and backgrounds (user-added backgrounds would be a plus). The Metra 95-7418 Dash Kit furnished by Crutchfield fits great and makes it look factory installed. The Scosche CNN03 Wiring Interface I purchased from them for my car's built in Bose amplifier works fine too. Not a bad system, it has backup camera capability and rear seat video outputs, as well as auxiliary inputs. On the down side, the GPS system doesn't speak street names. I hope I'm not locked into the current brand of mapping software, if I can upgrade to TTS type map software it would be a better experience. There is no live traffic rerouting, even though the radio has the RDS technology that supports it. There is no media SD card input (the mini-SD slot is only for the map program) but there is an 3.5mm A/V jack for iPhones and such, as well as a USB port. It's not the most full-featured unit, but a good unit for the price. I like it better than my other foreign made systems. Installed in a 2003 Altima.
Pros: Vibrant screen, decent inputs and outputs, lighting can match dash light colors, good bluetooth call experience, great audio, good radio software, backup cam input.
Cons: No live traffic (even though the radio has RDS), no spoken street names, no SD card slot for media. I'd like to install my own wallpapers.
