Overview

Our take on the Jensen VX7020

Jensen's VX7020 navigation receiver delivers real value, sporting an impressive 6.2" LCD screen that gives you easy command over your audio and video sources. You can also incorporate your phone with hands-free calling and streaming audio capabilities. Add the cost of the stress you'll save by not having to worry about getting lost, and this Jensen becomes a worthy investment.

Find your way without losing your wallet

Jensen's VX7020 navigation receiver delivers real value, sporting an impressive 6.2" LCD screen that gives you easy command over your audio and video sources. You can also incorporate your phone with hands-free calling and streaming audio capabilities. Add the cost of the stress you'll save by not having to worry about getting lost, and this Jensen becomes a worthy investment.

Take it to the streets

The VX7020 boasts maps of the entire U.S., Puerto Rico, and U.S. Virgin Islands, plus millions of points of interest for when it's time to take a break. Lane guidance will keep you on the right path for your next maneuver, and you'll be able to see realistic depictions of many complex intersections that make them easier to navigate.

The VX7020's powered by iGO primo navigation software, which has become an industry standard over the past few years because it's fast, accurate, and easy to use. This stereo's compatible with Naviextras, which allows you to download maps for other countries, including points of interest, through their website.

Bluetooth® calling and music streaming

This Jensen offers Bluetooth connectivity, so you'll be able to make and take calls using your compatible phone through the stereo. Built-in A2DP technology allows you to stream music from your smartphone through this receiver, and gives you control over the music on your Android™ phone or iPhone®.

If you've got Pandora Internet radio on your iPhone®, you can control it through the VX7020's interface when connected.

Sonic solutions

This receiver will play all your CDs and DVDs, including discs loaded with music files, while front and rear A/V inputs offer connections for more audio/video sources. Go ahead and load up your iPod® or thumb drive with tunes for your travels — the receiver's front USB port provides convenient access.

When you're parked, you can enjoy movies from DVDs or other video sources on the receiver's display, and you can add Jensen's optional jLinkUSB cable to view iPod video content. Jensen includes a wireless remote control, allowing your passengers to pick the playlist.

Expand your system

Why struggle with stations fading away as you travel? You can hook up a satellite radio tuner (not included) to this receiver and access the wide variety of entertainment, sports, news, and commercial-free music satellite radio provides — your favorite stations are always there and, even better, you can view the channel art on the big screen. You can also connect a rear-view camera, so you can see more of what's behind your vehicle when getting in and out of tight spots. If you're looking to add subs and amps, you can take advantage of front, rear, and subwoofer preamp outputs.

Want to keep your steering wheel controls?

The Jensen VX7020 offers built-in steering wheel remote compatibility for vehicles with non-CAN bus steering wheel control interfaces, but you will have to hard-wire the steering-wheel control wires of the stereo's harness to your vehicle's wiring. You can configure the steering wheel remote commands from the VX7020's touchscreen. For most cars with CAN bus steering wheel control interfaces, you'll need an adapter to retain steering wheel controls. Check “Details” for more information, and the "Accessories" tab for compatible adapters. If you're not sure if you need an adapter, call, chat, or email an Advisor for help determining what you'll need for your vehicle.

Bluetooth note: Use of this receiver's Bluetooth features will depend upon your phone's Bluetooth capabilities. Learn more in our article explaining Bluetooth profiles.

iPod/smartphone note: If you're going to use your iPod or smartphone with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for compatibility information.

Quality product, met specifications, installation kit and instructions easy to understand.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My Rosen radio and nav system became unuseable, certainly on the Nav side. I'd had it replaced a few times, but it finally gave up the ghost. I looked in another store, but there was no way of selecting the correct system. A poster to the blog there had a similar problem and suggested going to Crutchfield, which I did. I spoke with someone named Ryan. Helped me select a radio/nav/Bluetooth, etc. at a reasonable price. With other stuff needed for installation, the price was only $450. Once finally installed, it's worked very well. Radio is fine, nav is fine, Bluetooth is fine (and uploaded my contacts, which the Rosen couldn't). There are a few functions I haven't used yet, including the DVD player. I can't figure out why I would have that!

Pros: Great response from Crutchfield for each question, big or small. Sound and nav are just fine. Price is reasonable.

Cons: The installer incorrectly set up the AM/FM antenna and I had to bring it back after a few days with instructions from Crutchfield. It works fine now. The only negative I have is that it has a DVD player, which I can't use.

You can't beat it for the price. I bought a different one before with GPS, and it was double the price. Only negative I have so far is the glare off the screen and the surprise voice that tells me when I'm speeding.

    Pros: Price

Cons: Glare in the screen and the little tattle tail voice that tells you to slow down

    Jensen with Ford Sync

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The Jensen is fine, although the wait for it to boot up like a computer, about 30 seconds is slightly off putting. Don't think mirroring is possible with this, but not that big of a deal. They say Ford Sync can be kept with proper extra accessories, but there's not Reay that much to keep once you put in the radio...as you can't sync from one media to the other with voice. It's strictly pushbutton on the unit, or through the pushbuttons, which you will have to reprogram. It's not a terrible system, but if you want to truly keep sync, get the OEM Navigation from Ford. The radio reception is markedly worse in the Jensen as well.

Pros: The Navigation is pretty good. Not like the Google maps phone nav. More like Garmin with posted speed limit, and more of a graphic map, not satellite pictures.

Cons: The sound may or may not be better than oem audio. I may get new speakers down the road, which doesn't blame Jensen, but Ford. You get what you pay for, and unfortunately a decent nav system cost maybe a couple hundred more.

AS PER CRUTCHFIELD." NO RADIO SWAP RECOMENDED" I TAKE THAT AS A CHALLANGE. I BOUGHT A REASONABLY PRICED RADIO AND A PAC SWI RC INTERFACE.THE HARDEST PART WAS THE ACC POSITION THAT WOULD GO TO THE RED WIRE ON THE HEAD UNIT. HAD TO PICK THAT OFF THE HEADLAMP SWITCH. THE UNIT WORKS WELL THE GPS IS AS GOOD AS MY OLD NUVI AND THE BLUE TOOTH WORKS GREAT! WITCH IT DID NOT ON THE NUVI. SO ALL IN ALL I AM VERY HAPPY WITH THE UNIT

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

For the price, it's a really feature rich unit. I also purchased and installed the back-up camera at the same time. No issues at all. The wiring harness was color coated and matched perfectly. The trim kit for my Toyota Tacoma was a perfect color match and fit. Although it came with several manuals, I found the operation to be fairly intuitive to use. The Crutchfield advisor (via chat) put together the shopping cart of all the items I would need for installation, including wire connectors. Happy with purchase.

Pros: Lot's of functions - easy to install and operate

Cons: Not a big deal for me, but the start-up is slow. Takes about 20 seconds.

2nd Jensen and I would buy again.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

To begin with, the vehicle this radio was installed in is very Spartan in terms of amenities and only has 4 speakers with no subwoofer. Having said that this radio really brings the vehicle up to modern with the touch screen, navigation, satellite radio and so on. It has capability to have rear seat entertainment and other features I won't take advantage of, so I can't speak to those features. But the ones I'm using, including backup camera work well and I am very impressed for the price. My one and only complaint is that the screen is susceptible to washing out in sunlight more than my other factory touch screen radios. I haven't figured out which color scheme or brightness setting will overcome it so there are times that I have to shade it with my hand just to see what is on the screen. Other than that, I am very happy with this unit.

Pros: Navigation, satellite radio, backup camera, DVD player, ability to have rear seat entertainment system and works as well as anything out there with intergrating to modern phones.

Cons: Display is difficult to see in bright sunlight.

    Great features for the price!!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed it and the initial set up was daily easy. Everything is working well. Battery in the remote was dead but that's not a deal breaker. The "vehicle-specific" instructions and mounting kit were the worst I have received being this my third purchase/install with Crutchfield. Crutchfield has to go back to writing their own step by step instructions. Anyway, I downloaded and installed the updates via my laptop after inserting the memory card from the unit into my reader. A little confusing at first but it did the job. You will be happy with this unit but hopefully the install will go smoother in your vehicle. The Metra kit for the Hyundai Elantra sucks.

Pros: It all works good. No problems. Sounds good & looks good.

Cons: Remote battery was dead. Only complaint regarding the unit.

Not too hard of an install. The wiring harness made it a lot easier. The trim kit and mount made it look seamless. It does take second to load, but not a big deal. It is a nice radio for the price. I installed this radio before changing the speakers, so switching on the loud setting just about blew the stock speakers haha. When I upgraded the stock speakers, the EQ made everything sounds crisp and tight.

Pros: Easy to use, nice bright screen.

Cons: Turning on the Loud setting is a bit much for stock speakers.

The VX7020 when viewed on its own merits is a very impressive package. The screen is very acceptable in size. My last head unit was a Pioneer with a motorized 7" display, so there is definitely a noticeable difference in screen real estate, but the Jensen screen has much more vibrant color and sharper contrast. It is a vast improvement. In addition, the feature list far outstrips my old Pioneer, and it cost less to boot. The only area where the Pioneer trumps the Jensen is in speed. The VX7020 is considerably slower to boot up, but this isn't really that much of an issue for me. Installation went very smoothly, except that my dash cavity needed to be modified, but I was aware of that before I bought the unit. Overall, the value of this unit really can't be beat.

Pros: Cost Feature list Sharp, vibrant screen

    Cons: Boot up speed

    2003 Honda Element
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

For the most part this unit works well. The installation was a breeze because the folks at Crutchfield provide all the right parts and great instructions for installation. Everything is fantastic about this unit EXCEPT the fact the Jensen was too cheap to use an SD card with more memory. The retail cost of an 8GB SD card is around $5, wholesale I am sure you can get them for about $2. This would be sufficient in size to hold the database for the GPS. However, in an extremely poor choice, Jensen and their navigation partner Naviextras have chosen to only have a 4GB SD card. This is not sufficient in size to hold the GPS data for the US & Canada. An extremely poor decision for units being sold in North America. In discussing the matter with Naviextras, they said to just delete the files I don't need and install the ones that I do. So essentially, don't drive too far, because you may not have maps available without deleting and installing the maps you need. Naviextras also states that you cannot just copy the data to a larger card. While I have not yet tried to clone the card to a larger one, which I probably can because of my IT skills, the average consumer cannot. It seems like a very poor decision to take a unit costing hundreds of dollars and make it less functional because you wanted to save $2.

Pros: Easy Installation Free Backup Camera Bluetooth Connectivity

Cons: 4GB SD Card for navigation is not large enough to hold sufficient data for maps.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this unit as a relatively low-cost replacement for the stock GPS unit. It's ironic - the Jensen GPS app is the same one that was used in the stock unit so I didn't have to learn much to use that functionality. I am pretty happy with the unit with a couple of exceptions. Double-clicking on folders when using the iPod option is a real pain - especially considering that you may be driving at the time. Also, if your talking on the phone through Bluetooth, there's no way to leave the Bluetooth screen and get back to the map which is also annoying. All in all though I am happy with the purchase. It sounds way better than stock and I like the color customization to make it match the interior lighting.

Pros: Great sound, customizable color palette, lots of connection options, easy installation.

Cons: Annoying double-click selection required for iPod music files, inability to get back (to any other screen) from the Bluetooth screen when on a call.

The radio is slow to come on. Then after you've waited for the radio to come on you have to go through a whole series of button pushes to get the navigation map. And you have to do this every time because you can't set the navigation map as the default display. So instead of getting the navigation map as part of the turning the car on ritual, like every other car, you find yourself driving off without. And because the location is low on the dash, which makes it difficult to see, it makes it even more difficult to push all those buttons while you're driving. Eventually I just gave up, stopped using it, and then replaced it. The radio sounded good tho.

    Pros: Radio sounds good, price.

Cons: Navigation system to difficult to use.

I've been shopping for a longtime, waiting for the right receiver. It does everything I wanted (DVD, Bluetooth, GPS, etc.). It does start-up slow and the remote doesn't work which are the only negatives I can mention. Read the manual or read other reviews here and elsewhere to troubleshoot. The Crutchfield team was great to work with. I chatted with one of their associates who set me up with everything i needed to install the receiver. I've not installed a radio in about 30 years, and this was easier than I thought, but you have to read the instructions.

Pros: All the features I wanted: DVD, Bluetooth, GPS. The GPS software works so much better than the GPS that came with my wife's 2014 Subaru.

Cons: remote doesn't work and receiver is slow to start-up.

It was fairly easy to swap out my factory unit with this unit. In my opinion, switching between functions requires an excessive number of selections. The time required to "boot up" is also long. Functions are not intuitive. It took a while to figure out how to turn off the navigation which kept interrupting my music. Once, things are figured out, it seems to work fine.

VX7020 to replace Ford Focus factory unit

    2013 Ford Focus
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Factory radio stopped working and we decided to upgrade with a touch-screen/Navigation/SiriusXM compatible. This was priced in the neighborhood we were looking for. Simple install, despite the number of connections to solder on the wiring harness... Yuck. - For those guys having trouble with the reversing camera -- there is a wire that specifically connects to the transmission/reverse switch and that activates the reversing camera display. But I can't remember which wire it is. - For those who don't like that the systems boots up at volume 17, you can change that. Turn the volume to your desired setting. While the volume indicator bar still shows on the screen, press the volume/power button and hold it in for 2 seconds. That's how you reprogram the startup volume. (Personally, I don't know why it can't just turn on where it was when you turned it off...)

Pros: - Decent feature set for its price point. - Sounds pretty good, even with factory speakers.

Cons: - Very slow to start up. - System clock does not take its time from Sirius/XM or GPS satellites. (I have an old JVC unit in my pickup with an add-on Sirius tuner and once that's installed, the head gets its time from the satellite. Seems like a no-brainer to do it that way.) - Aftermarket dash panel for the Ford Focus and related wiring harnesses to be compatible with the Ford car cost almost as much as the VX7020 itself. - GPS antenna lead was too short.

    JENSEN VX7020 STEREO/GPS

    2007 Ford Mustang
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The install went very well with little issues. I've not yet tried all of the functions. I did not have the same fading issues stereo as others have indicated. The stereo fades near our local tunnels, but so did the old unit that this one replaces, so I'm relatively certain it's a signal issue not a hardware one. The settings were easy to use. I wish there were more options for background and foreground color. I did have a slight issue with the GPS when attempting to update it. It made the micro SD card unreadable by the unit or any computer Operating System. I contacted their Technical Support, by the time I received a response, I overcame the issue by formatting a different card, and restoring the backup. The update software also tells you that you didn't shut down the unit properly. Tech Support assures me that this is not an issue and the warning may be ignored. The USB was tested in addition to the documented media formats (mp3, wma, etc) it plays FLAC audio. I have not tested video as I don't intend on using it.

Pros: Good unit for a good price. Easy install (as all 2DIM units should be).

Cons: The GPS software issue mentioned in my review. The length of time that it took Naviextras to reply to the trouble ticket which was five days. The unit takes a while to start up compared to my old unit.

I am not using all the built in capabilities like rear view camera, video and audio outputs and steering wheel controls. I am using it as a head unit in place of the factory system and heavily using the Bluetooth phone and the built in navigation. Overall, I would have to say I am impressed. Bang for the buck is huge with this unit. I have spent close to this price for a stand alone navigation unit and it didn't work as well as this one does. Add all the other capabilities into the mix and you have a winner. If you are debating whether or not to get one, don't hesitate. You could pay a lot more, for a lot less.

Pros: Ease of use. Simple set up. Intuitive controls. More features and versatility than most will ever need.

Cons: None that come to mind.

    Fatal Error

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I love the head unit... when it functions. FATAL ERROR seems to be a real problem with this and other alike Jensen models. Google search before purchasing! I spent hours in circles with CS to conclude with the 60 day window for return/exchange starts on the purchase date. Fair enough, if it wasn't a week or two late getting delivered in the first place, and I didn't pay top dollar for a custom install that took a month of metal fab in a 1959 f100. After the 'that's your problem' response, I was forwarded to technical support to 'help' with the problem, who sent me the same links found on all the sites and forums already discussing this Known issue. Without question, this should be a recall or free fix. Alternatively, the position taken by Jensen and Crutchfield is: 60 days from your purchase date, you're pretty much at a loss. Sorry... Thank you. Come Again.

Pros: ergonomically correct. Easy to navigate. Despite the reviews, the GPS works fine in North Florida and along the coast... when it's not displaying FATAL ERROR. Everything else works as advertised. And if it actually worked when you need it, navigating, the price would be great.

Cons: FATAL ERROR and lack of support or accountability. How companies as big as Crutchfield and Jensen get away with a useless warranty like this is beyond me. I asked: is this a known problem, and was told no. If they tell you no when you call, reference Florida Bill's review. Bull! Its a known problem and has been for years. I wish the salesperson Expert who helped me select this unit knew what an expert should know.

Crutchfield response on February 29, 2016 Our Tech Support and Customer Support groups have worked with this customer extensively to help correct the error on his receiver, as well as set up a generous exchange period on two separate occasions. If problems persist, we'll complete the exchange within the time we've specified or supply our customer with the appropriate warranty information to contact the manufacturer.

Great looking stereo. Touch screen is very intuitive. You can move the icons around like on an I-phone. Sound is good. Back up camera does not come on automatically when you put in reverse. You have to manually choose the camera and then choose something else after. Takes a few seconds to load when turned on. The radio reception is terrible. Granted I live in a valley but old stock stereo picked up the stations just fine. This one doesn't get SF stations that I used to get and it barely brings in the local station. I went through all of the programming in the book so it is not just a setting. Luckily the stereo comes with a good promotion to buy SIRUIS XM. Coincidence?

Pros: Easy to navigate control system. Wiring is straight forward. Vivid display.

The Jensen VX7020 screen, while adequate, should not have been recommended as it's just to small for the space. Further, the dash kit should have come with the requested silver trim ring to match the 2005 Porsche Carrera S.

Pros: Radio with all the functions work perfectly.

Cons: The harness had to be cut and rewired to accommodate the new radio and I was told that was not required when I bought it.

Very nice unit. Great upgrade to the factory Bose system in a 2006 Silverado. Installation was fairly painless. The back up camera does not come on automatically when the vehicle is put into reverse. You must select the camera function on the home screen first. I have had some issues with reception. I live 25 miles from a few very popular radio stations in my area. Instead of having static, the sound will fade in and out. I have double checked antenna connections. I have also checked settings in the radio as the manual suggested and they have all been verified. I have not really utilized the Navigation function of this system yet. Only used it locally just to see how it did. Seemed to work. I would have given this 5 stars but the function of a radio is to receive signals. With how close our radio stations are to us and how it seems to be lacking in the reception function, I think that it is a little overpriced for its inability to perform its primary function.

Pros: Lots of additional upgrades to the factory radio it replaced

Cons: Fair to poor radio reception

I can now check voicemail, make and receive calls, and stream music hands-free from my Android phone via BT. Navigation is not voice activated on this unit, but the iGO Pro maps an satellite signal are good enough. I already did buy it again, and plan to install in my wife's 2008 RAV4.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The Jensen VX 7020 is a pretty awesome unit. I haven't had the opportunity to use all of the features yet, but the ones I have used have been outstanding. The unit was fairly easy to install using wiring harnesses and wire caps provided by Crutchfield. The few questions on wiring that I did have were answered well by tech support. The only drawbacks I've encountered were: 1) The OEM unit had two ports for dual sensitivity antennas. The Jensen only had one. A few minor reception problems in our area, but not a show stopper. 2) Mating some of the wiring to a Toyota Highlander's wiring harness is a bit difficult. I'm still having issues with just finding the reverse and parking brake wiring, even though tech support told me what to look for. 3) I'm having difficulty adjusting the radio volume when the vehicle is initially turned on. Really loud, and I haven't found the adjustment for it yet. Overall, a pleasant experience.

Pros: Easy to use controls. Great GPS display. Easy setup.

Cons: The Metra wiring harness doesn't entirely match up with the OEM wiring. Easy if you CLOSELY read the directions.

Even if it is correctable, the fact that I can't figure it out on my own is a problem. Also, presets are too difficult to get to. It's a preset, they should be on the home screen, now three screens away.

This was the least expensive of all the GPS head units I could find....and I couldn't be happier. I really wanted Garmin GPS unit, but they were way out of my budget, like $600 for low end. Saw some nice reviews about Igo gps and took a chance. Really happy with all aspects. GPS works perfect, music sounds great through my GM Bose system and price was good too! Installation was a breeze, even with backup camera installation. I installed with straight power from running lights so I could periodically check on trailers while towing, instead of only through backup lights. All in all, very satisfied.....and I did a ton of research before I bought. One other thing.... I found most of the complaints other people had were easily changed and adjusted in setting. Just read the directions, pretty simple!

Pros: Worked as advertised and was very customizable for my truck. Love the Bluetooth and easily connects to my IPhone 5s. gPS is perfect to!

Cons: Really can't find a thing to complain about....maybe if it was free?!?!

Nice Nav radio with all the popular features for a low price. Everything works like it should. The only complaint I have is the GPS navigation voice does not pronounce street names... I went thru and upgraded the software and loaded the free map updates. That in itself was a time consuming process. It took me a little while to figure out how to do it. The owners manual does not clearly explain how to do that... However after the lengthy process of updating the software and loading the latest maps. It still does not pronounce the street names. It gets kinda boring after awhile hearing a voice just say, "Turn left, Turn Right or Leave highway..." Sometimes its not clear what exit its prompting you to get off on... Other than that overall I like the radio. I really like the built in Pandora app. Pretty cool.

Pros: Low price Built In Pandora App Customizable Display colors

Cons: The GPS software does not pronounce the street names by default... Looks like its an extra $$$ feature...

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed this as a birthday present for my 1996 Acura Integra GSR. The wiring harness and trim panel/mounts included by Crutchfield (along with a handful of YouTube videos) made the install smooth and trouble free. The only head unit features I didn't exercise were streering wheel control (not on original vehicle) and rear view camera (not an urgent need). [I took advantage of a "free" Sirius tuner (3 months free All Access ). ] GPS navigation, handsfree (Bluetooth pairing) with my Windows Phone, Sirius radio, AM/FM radio, CD/DVD, USB with iPad worked fine from the first power up. Touch screen operation is smooth and intuitive (no need to pull out the manuals). Backup of GPS microSD card and free map (one-time) upgrade was trouble free. The GPS maps are accurate and easy to read - turn by turn voice instructions but no street names. The POIs are reasonably complete and up to date. The sound through my original speakers is fine and the graphical EQ is convenient. Young car enthusiasts still ask me about buying my Acura and the only area that I felt occasional envy was modern electronics. This unit took care of that.

Pros: Great value for touch screen GPS/Bluetooth multimedia receiver. Smooth and seamless installation into 20 year old vehicle

Cons: Would like street name announcement with turn by turn instructions. [As per other reviews I've asked Jensen if software updates are available to address this]

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this for my wife's 2006 Ford Explorer and it is way better than I expected. I am a bit of a self-confessed car audio snob and I hate cheap looking or sounding gear in any car I own (even if my wife drives it). The low price made me nervous despite the good reviews here, but I figured it was worth a try and they were totally right! I love everything about this unit so far and would recommend it to anyone. It is much easier to set up than the similar touchscreen Pioneer unit I have in my car. The sound quality is way better than the Kenwood head unit it replaced- for both for the tuner and CD. I'm a huge fan of the volume control knob compared to buttons. Now I want one for my car...

Pros: It is an amazing value and not just because of the low cost. It is by far the best bang for my buck that I have ever received from a car stereo no matter what the price range. It sounds great and doesn't require a 8 hour block of instruction to figure out how to operate it.

Cons: Used Dave for the navigation voice and he is a tattle tail. Go one mile per hour over the speed limit and he is nagging you. Shut up Dave. I'm sure this can be turned off, but my wife likes to laugh at me yelling at Dave, so she refuses to let me. Might be considered a pro if installing it in your teenager's car. The only other thing is that I wish it started up faster. I know this is normal for navigation units, but it is still annoying. Especially if you want to use a backup camera.

This unit is by far the cheapest I could find that included NAV. It works as it should. Never installed this type of thing myself and I did it with the help of Crutchfield in about three hours. By far the best value unit if you're on a budget. Or just cheap.

Pros: -Very cheap for everything it does. -Easy install. Time consuming if you've never done it, but still very easy to do. -NAV works great. -A lot better sound. Has EQ and it made the stereo in my car 20 times better, and louder. I have a loud exhaust on my car and my stereo barely blocked it out when turned all the way up. This unit I have at about 50% volume and its louder/clearer than my old (stock) one.

Cons: -Takes a few seconds to boot up. Not a huge deal for me but if you have a backup camera and the first thing you do is back out of your driveway/parking spot, you're gonna have to wait a little. -Not sure if its a setting or anything, but changing between FM stations also takes about 3 seconds. Not instant sound when you change stations, usually a few seconds of silence like it has to load or something.

We've had the unit installed for two weeks now. This unit has met my almost all of expectations of what I wanted.

Pros: - It was easy to have installed with no modifications. - The wiring harness that came from Crutchfield DOES work! I was told by other competitors that it would cause a check engine light and audible alerts not to work. - All of the features work as described. - Having all of the extra features is a serious upgrade from the stock radio that was in the vehicle.

Cons: - Even after the free map update, the GPS isn't as accurate as we'd like. I still have to use Google Maps or Waze for directions. In a pinch this will be sufficient to get "un"lost. This is one of the main reasons we got this device. - The auto volume function when you drive doesn't work. - I cannot see or find any setting for auto dimming/brightening for night/day on the main display. (If someone knows please tell me) It's really bright at night and too dim during the day.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

First of all, the price is fantastic. It is very difficult to find a quality navigation receiver under $400. Installation was a little tricky (it always seems that there is something missing in the manufacturers directions), but a call to Crutchfield customer service fixed that quickly and easily. Sound is fantastic. Start up is a little on the slow side as is loading of CDs and DVDs (not a deal breaker though). Navigation is wonderful and the responsiveness of the touch-screen is pretty good. Pandora and bluetooth integration is seamless. Only two issues I have is one, when the volume is at zero, there seems to be some humming (perhaps I did not connect something correctly, plus can't notice the humming during play). Second, the volume seems to reset to about 14 every time I turn off the unit, then turn it back on later. But, those two aforementioned issues might be due to my ignorance and not indicative of typical expected performance. Overall, I am very pleased with the purchase and extremely pleased with my experience with Crutchfield customer service.

Pros: Seamless integration between the phone and head unit regarding Pandora and Bluetooth. Navigation, CD, and radio are excellent. Touch screen performance is very good.

    Cons:

Great unit for my 2000 Honda Civic. The wiring was simple and straight forward using the supplied instructions. There wasn't much mention about what to do with the E-brake wire, but there's plenty online about it. I had no problems installing and it all worked with no problems whatsoever. The shipping was super fast and Crutchfield is incredible when it comes to helping you out. The sound quality is great in my opinion, and the navigation is perfect so far.

For the price and the features that the Jensen vx7020 has you can't beat it!!! Bluetooth is easy to set up, navigation is also a breeze to use. This unit replaced the factory BOSE unit for my G35. I had my doubts that it would sound good with the factory speakers but it sounds a lot better with the Jensen. Only main complaint that I have is that during bright daylight hours, the unit is hard to see since the face is not anti-glare. Also the unit seems to lag a slight bit for the touch screen feature but it's not enough to make you want to punch it. Other than that, for the price and features that it has, it was a definite good purchase. Will probably get one for my wife's car.

Pros: Bluetooth Navigation Touch screen Color customization

Cons: touch screen not anti-glare can't see screen in bright sunlight slight lag with touch commands

Love the receiver. Even better is the support from Crutchfield. Exactly the right extra parts. Answered all my questions quickly from reviewing other receivers through the installation of this receiver. The entire process took about 1.5 hours and most of that time was wiring the new harness to the receiver. Putting it in the car was a piece of cake.

Pros: Very intuitive. Connects to my phone quickly and easily.

Cons: Took a while to find a location for the microphone that worked. That's not a fault of this receiver though.

Great value. Wanted touch screen with a volume knob because i installed in a convertible and sometimes screen is hard to read in sun and glare.Only problem (and it is "glaring") is that the dim function at night when the lights are on is not very dim and the screen is still very bright. If you are the least bit handy with software, when i upgraded the software, it is easy to change the background wall papers from stock to whatever graphic you want. just load your graphic in to the software and save it as thew wallpaper *.jpg name. very simple The NAV Map is also very easy to mod, based on Igo software, you can modify the sys,txt file with all sorts of commands to get rid of start up and warning screens, etc. just google IGO navigation for info on this... All in, a good value

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed this receiver in my wife's 2007 F150 as an upgrade to the failing factory CD changer. Installation was fairly straightforward, and the interface is intuitive. It doesn't boast huge power, or tons of features, but I purchased it based on the features listed, reviews on Crutchfield, and compatibility with our Apple products. So far, it has functioned very well across all the paces we've put it through. We took a trip to San Antonio from Austin, and mapped every planned stop. The navigation seemed to pick good routes to each destination, and while negatively reviewed here, we didn't find the lack of vocal street name reading a problem - it's listed very clearly on the screen. All in all, we're pleased with our purchase. I plan to add a back-up camera soon, and will post up an update once it's installed.

Pros: Nice interface, decent sound, accurate navigation, good quality for the price.

Cons: Some quirkiness to features that may be solved with more in-depth reading of the instruction manual.

Pros: Full featured. Works well with my IPhone. Backup camera works well with unit. Looks good in the truck.

Cons: Perhaps a little better instruction as to connecting the two wiring harnesses together would be helpful. However a few calls to Crutchfield experts solved those problems. The fact that the unit takes a bit of time to get booted up and going when you turn the key takes some getting used to.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a solid entertainment system for your vehicle. I recently bought and installed two for both my 2012 Nissan Versa and my 2007 VW GTI. It works well with both. Wiring was simple. The unit looks nice in both vehicles. GPS works well as well as aux, usb and dvd player. I haven't tried anything with swapping out the memory card for a larger one yet. Between my wife and I, we have two gripes for the unit. The startup volume is set moderately for my vehicle, but she claims is too high for her vehicle. I am not sure if that can be adjusted, but the volume it is left at is not remembered when restarting. My gripe is more with Crutchfield than the unit. I got the steering wheel adapter and it does not match up with the Jensen unit. It was for other brand like Sony and Kenwood. There were little switches to play with and multiple adapters but after a bit of tinkering I was able to get most of my steering wheel buttons to work. For my GTI I was able to hide both the GPS antenna and microphone in vents. My wife didn't want they so they are secured to the dash of her car. The sticky part for the mic isn't very good and if I redid the install I would strip it and put a small piece of command strip in its place. This isn't an expensive unit and it shows. You get what you pay for but if you want a GPS, Bluetooth, dvd unit, backup camera for a bargain this is it! And all these people saying the wiring is tricky or leaves out anything must have not read the instructions very carefully.

Pros: Price, connectivity, Ease of installation (2 cars), Abundance of personalization.

    Cons: Startup volume.

Now I have real aux inputs. Junk oem Ford radio 6 cd player in my Mustang had aux button but no input. Changing display is somewhat annoying. Screen gets washed out a bit in daylight. I have something of a learning curve ahead on the gps. Most basic radio programing and settings are intuitive. Had all necessary install hardware but recommend you have factory schematics for wiring harness. I am a tech by trade but it took me some time to work out the connections to be sure they were correct. Overall I am very pleased with unit and it looks "factory" in my dash.

Pros: Intuitive basic operation. Manual is comprehensive. All Items for install were provided by knowledgeable Crutchfield rep. Has all connections and inputs you would want. Perfect compatibility with the shaker 500 onboard amps in my car.

Cons: Screen is a bit difficult to see in bright sunlight. Install wiring is a little tricky. I want to connect backup camera but instructions don't show where to connect reverse wire to car wiring.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My choices were limited due to the age of my vehicle, which is a 2004 Saturn Vue. This unit offered all the features I was looking for in addition to being reasonably priced. The Kenwood that I was considering turned out to be a radio without GPS. The installation of the camera was a bit of a challenge for my installer and cost more than expected. However, the backup camera is huge for me, especially when backing up in congested California parking lots. Everything functions as I had hoped, from playing CDs/DVDs to Bluetooth pairing with my Samsung S4 and USB functions. I have figured out that I can play MP3 music and MPEG formatted videos through the USB connection. The DVD player seems to be more versatile as far as file formats. The touch screen works very well and is easy to see even at midday with bright sun. This was a concern since my factory installed GPS in a new Prius is almost invisible due to reflection on the LCD. The radio reception is perhaps the weakest feature. With so many preset options, I cannot find more than half a dozen clear stations. My only pet peeve is with pre-sale follow-up calls to the specialist. I had decided on this unit but when I called back with a question, ended up with a different sales specialist who took credit. There should be a better system. As far as technical questions after the sale, I am totally impressed with ease and availability of knowledgeable staff. My only reason for giving a 4 star is due to the points I have mentioned.

Pros: Reasonably priced GPS system that offers all the features of more expensive ones. Ideal for older vehicles that you are planning to upgrade in a few years.

    Cons: Weak radio reception.

Someone already beat me to the punch. This head unit doesn't have all the bells and whistles that it's $1500 counterparts may have, but at this price, it's a steal. Setup was a breeze (not installation though my issues were due to lack of good harness options and fairly involved dash disassembly) and all the features I wanted worked right out of the box. In a half dozen addresses, it was right to the door. Perfect for LOCAL use. The ONLY fault I discovered in the Jensen VX7020 is that it does not announce the street names.

Pros: All of the above are a huge plus! Would give a 5+++; in street names were announced.

Cons: Maps do not announce street names. Driving local is no problem, but when I visit my daughter in Denver or my daughter in Tampa or sister in Union Lake in Michigan, this would be a major problem. "Turn right" or "Turn left" in 250 yards doesn't cut it when there is an intersection with several streets coming together. And in heavy traffic, I wouldn't want to be looking at the GPS to see which street I want. Other than that .. ok.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Install went fairly easy, except for the fact that Crutchfield did not enclose the installation kit. I had to call, and spoke with tech support and they shipped me out a kit immediately. The remote that was shipped had a dead battery with it. Randomly, the unit will shut itself off and then the saved radio stations are gone which is a pain to set up. The radio itself does not find local stations like it should, you actually have to manually search for what any factory radio would find automatically. And yes the antenna is plugged in. I think the sound quality would be good if I replace my cheap factory speakers. Pandora sounds better than the radio due to digital signal I guess. Lately, when I start the car the lights on the deck come on and the progress bar gets stuck and does not allow the unit to turn on, so I have to turn it off and then back on and then it will usually snap out of it. Very disappointed with that. The navigation seems to work well, haven't used it too much to know for sure. I know the price was cheap on this unit for what it does, but I am not real happy with it overall. Get what you pay for I guess. Now I guess I will attempt to upgrade my speakers in hopes that it will be more enjoyable.

Pros: shipping was quick, tech support offered to fix issue immediately and were very knowledgeable and nice.

Cons: The radio tuning function is not very sensitive in auto find mode, and the mainual search is very difficult to do while driving. The unit sometimes does not power up without holding the button down several times. The touch screen gui interface is not user friendly. I would not recommend this product!

This radio was installed in my 2006 F150. Overall the radio is what I expected. It has great sound and volume, fits well in the dash panel and is pretty intuitive to operate. The radio takes a few seconds to boot up on start up which can be an issue if you are in a hurry particularly if you have a back up camera attached. Not a huge problem for me, but it may be to some people. The navigation works well and instructions are adequate and timely. Crutchfield supplied all the necessary, wiring, connectors and instructions necessary to make the installation go as smoothly as possible. The only real issue that I had with the installation was the interface between the PAC unit and the radio. The biggest installation issues I had were between the software update and the PAC unit. I got the update in the unit with no problem, but when I installed and programmed the PAC unit and go the steering wheel controls to operate, the volume would not turn on when the vehicle was keyed on. I would have to tweek the volume, either up or down to get sound. With Crutchfield's assistance and with several iterations of trials I decided to just return the PAC unit and no use the steering wheel controls.

Pros: Intuitive usage. good navigation. Good sound and volume.

Cons: Steering wheel interface. Hard to see the screen in bright sunlight.

Paid more than I would have at another online retailer for Crutchfields "Tech Support". Crutchfield's $9.95 MasterSheet was a joke..6 or 8 sheets of pics with skimpy instructions. Crutchfield MasterSheet showed a guy prying away with a screw driver from the top. Youtube showed the correct way to take out old head from the bottom...but it was too late, I cracked fascia, and damaged soft vinyl around it, even with the correct pry tools...Support said yes it is quite hard to remove and plastic gets old and brittle...but it was too late. Think twice before buying into Crutchfield's DYS BS.... and inaccurate instructions.

Pros: No waiting for Tech support.

Cons: Inaccurate, superficial "MasterSheet" ....No warning about old brittle plastic, difficulty of disassembling, parts that were not made to be disassembled.

I like the display of the screen. It is bright enough except in direct sunlight. However my $700 Pioneer head unit also washes out in direct sunlight. It has excellent volume range to drive my aftermarket speakers without the extra amp. I certainly annoy the drivers in the next lane when the volume is turned up. It is a really good product and I would buy it again.

Pros: Easy to install. Decent volume range, with or without the amp. Free map update upon purchase.

Cons: The map uses the SD slot and this unit doesn't have a separate slot for music. The USB in the front of the unit blocks the volume knob if you have a large memory stick. I prefer the USB wire supplied with my Pioneer which can be mounted anywhere in the front. However, that required cutting and modifying.

    Great value. Very satisfied.

Bought a Jensen VX7020 for our truck. Liked it so much I bought a second one for our car. I think that says it all.

Cons: Better FM sensitivity would be nice. I live in a more rural area and the station reception is a little weak.

    Tip: Regarding Steering wheel controls

Written by: DavidH from Cookeville, TN on May 3, 2015

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a great unit for it's value for my standard 2012 Dodge Durango. The only problem I had was trying to get the steering wheel controls (SWC). For my vehicle, the PAC RP4-CH11 did not work with regards to the steering wheel controls. However, I was able to get my steering wheel controls working with the PAC SWI-CP5. It might be cheaper to get the PAC C2R-CHY4 + PAC SWI-CP5. I even tried the Axxess ASWC-1, which did not work. Being stubborn, I spent hours with tech support with Jensen, PAC, Axxess and Crutchfield. I can't praise the tech support of Crutchfield enough. They bent over backwards trying to help me in every possible way. The PAC tech support was great also. Jensen was (to me) kinda neutral, but at least they tried to listen to me and get me to a point where I needed a voltage meter to test my wiring. At that point I was desperate and decided to try the PAC SWI-CP5 which worked! Obviously, there are so many variables involved in troubleshooting steering wheel controls. This Jensen unit requires you to go through the 'Learn' configuration on the unit itself to map the steering wheel controls. The main head unit brands like Clarion, Sony, Pioneer, etc. don't have to deal with a 'Learn' process like this Jensen unit has, but they cost more than this unit. Back-up camera & SirusXM work great. I like the Pandora app on the unit, but if you want to stream other apps (iHeartRadio), you have to use the bluetooth A2DP streaming. Screen is not as bright in direct sun.

Pros: Great value. Sound is great quality. Has most of the main features I think anyone wants. Love the Pandora app. The SirusXM app also shows the channel logo on the screen. Navigation app works great, and comes with a free update. I agree probably with most of the other reviews 'pros' mentioned in here.

Cons: To get my steering wheel controls working, it was time-consuming. Read my review for details on how it was tricky to get the SWC to work on my 2012 Dodge Durango. The screen display is probably not bright enough as I wish, in direct sunlight. Perhaps due to a screen protector that minimizes smudging? Doesn't have an iHeartRadio app, but you can still stream any audio using bluetooth's A2DP. To licence other apps like iHeartRadio would probably increase the price of the unit, so it's a tradeoff.

    2013 Honda Fit Sport
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I've been using the 7020 unit now for a month now and am mostly satisfied with it. Installed it in a 2013 Honda Fit; there was plenty of room behind the unit for the rather numerous wires and harnesses that needed to be connected. In addition to the normal hookups, I also installed an XM receiver, steering wheel controller and, a backup camera. It looks great in my FIT and I find it easy to use and move through the menus. A few things that I might be able to pass along (software version 1.53). The unit boots up at a preset volume however, can be changed to another setting. Adjust the volume to the level that you want and immediately hold down the volume button for about 2~3 seconds. That will be the new boot up volume. I noticed that it did not have as good reception on the FM channels as the old radio so I ran a ground from car chassis to the back of the unit (on the heat sink), it improved somewhat. The Nav "Accept" screen that pops up every time you select the navigation can be suppressed. The NaviExtras toolbox gives you an ominous warning that you may corrupt the Nav SD card if you try to update it. A quick call to Crutchfield and talking to a tech revealed that it was a bogus warning and just to proceed anyway. Worked great and got the free update; thanks Crutchfield! The numerous other things you just need to find in the settings and adjust them.

Pros: Probably the most functionality for the price, looks good in my FIT and, has a decent number of features. If you're looking for a nav unit like this and this is you price range then you may be hard pressed to find much else with all of these bells and whistles and I would recommend it. The extras you get from Crutchfield make it a professional looking and easy install.

Cons: The sound quality is average at best. The navigation has some really, really good features but, my experiences so far with the navigation routing have been absolutely horrible, it takes you all over creation. The updated database is woefully out of date with old speed limits and road routes. It has the potential to be great but falls short in its most important function, navigating. I can only hope these things get addressed in a future update because it detracts from an otherwise good unit.

I purchased this unit along with the PAC and XM receiver unit to hook it up to a 2006 Silverado with the Bose system. With a couple of calls to Crutchfield, which were more of the double check/confirmation variety, the install went without a hitch. The unit itself has all the features advertised and the instruction manual is easy to understand. No complaints with the features. I hid the nav antenna under the dash pad on a solid piece of metal framing so that I didn't have to install it on top of the dash or on the roof. The nav signal is perfect even in that location. I installed the hands free microphone at the top of the A-pillar running the wire down the pillar and through the dash. Also, if you have a factor SiriusXM antenna on the roof, you can hook into it instead of using the receiver that comes with the SIrius unit, making that a clean install as well. And of course a big thanks for Crutchfield.

Pros: Easy Install. Features work as advertised.

Cons: None that I can think of.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This unit has a very nice display and the touch screen and volume knob have a high quality feel. Navigation works great so far and the antenna sufficiently obtains a signal while mounted to the top of the unit. I absolutely Love that the Pandora app in the head unit pulls the album art from my Android Nexus 5 without plugging anything in. I'm a bit disappointed that the steering wheel controls have yet to work with my car despite trying multiple things (still need to contact Crutchfield to get this corrected). Also, I've noticed when streaming music via bluetooth the sound cuts in and out maybe once every couple of minutes. Just a quick skip almost like a skipping CD. I assume it's a problem with the head unit and not my phone given that my phone streams music via bluetooth flawlessly on my Kenwood deck in another car and also via a wireless boombox in my house. Finally it's really dumb the volume always comes on at the same (very loud) level. The player should remember the user volume setting when the vehicle is shut off and start there next time the vehicle is started.

Pros: * High quality display * Intuitive menu * High quality touch screen action and volume knob * Excellent nav software * Price * Pandora album art is pulled from Android phone while streaming via bluetooth

Cons: * Bluetooth streaming music skips once every couple of minutes * Volume comes on at same high level whenever car is shut off even if it is turned all the way down * Steering wheel controls don't work yet

This unit has been in my Toyota matrix 2010 for 2 months now. I drive atleast 40+ plus miles a day mon-fri so I've gotten pretty aquantied with this Jensen unit fairly quickly, and even those it tho it has its drawbacks you certainly cannot beat the features and aesthetics that this unit brings for the price. As others have mentioned, if you were to ask someone how much they think the unit costs; the answer is always $500 or more. I say that to say it will definitely update your dash and give you that new tech feeling with out breaking the bank. The bluetooth is pretty clear and connect very fast, which surprises me sometimes still. I love the equalizer it just has made a world of difference while riding on my daily commute, the biggest surprise I would say has been how much I use Pandora now... AND I love it The GPS... well it does leave features to be desired I won't rehash what others have stated (Street names, latency). But for me it does what I need, and I actually am content with what it does; for the price I paid. Won't drag this on much longer... Buy if you want a touch screen double din in your vehicle with GPS and Bluetooth that looks great. Be aware that the gps does not use Street names.

Pros: *bluetooth is crystal clear *sound improved my stock speakers *Pandora works flawlessly with my android

Cons: *GPS lacking features that should have been easily included *remote control supplied kinda hard to use while driving *only 4 wallpapers

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I had the 7020x imstalled in a 2005 Camry along with a Tao backup camera. The pair work very well together. I feel like the car is now in the 21st century. The Navi works very well. At first, the trip function gave turn warnings too late but we were able to readjust the prewarning function. Bluetooth is a great feature and works well with both my wife's and my iPhones. Hands free talk function is automatic and functions well. Sound is decent and the logic is user friendly. Love the 3D graphic view. The install shopped warned us that not all our steering column controls might work with this unit. But the guy got volume and track advance buttons to function. The only one which did not function is the mode button...not a big deal. One annoying thing is that each start of the car requires that you read and accept the warning before using the navi..probably some federal law.

Pros: User friendly, good sound, great graphics.

I love this new system. It was replacing a broken factory system in my 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The only problem is the rear camera already in my vehicle is not compatible with this radio so I lost the rear camera. The touch screen is great and I like being able to connect my phone via Bluetooth. I had Best Buy install the unit. They forgot to remove the screws from the unit so I thought the CD/DVD player was broke but a quick call to Audiovox helped me fix the issue. Lots of power on the receiver. I have factory installed Boston Accoustics speakers and they can't handle the wattage this unit can give.

Pros: Touchscreen, Bluetooth, navigation system, DVD for use when parked.

Cons: Lost rear camera functionality, pandora app only connects to Android phones but I can stream on my iPhone via the USB port.

AM Does NOT Work - Metra Kit Harness Does NOT Work

Written by: Big Bear from Ohio on March 25, 2015

    2002 Toyota Highlander
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Most functions on this radio work very well: FM, CD, Nav, SXM Interface. The USB interface is bad - it's like windows folders - yuk. The AM radio does not work. The Metra Kit Connector is terrible - the male connection pins are too thin and too narrow to properly interface with the female radio harness connector. Every bump in the road will intermittantly disconnect wiring to lighting dimmer wire, speaker wires, power supply, ground, etc. Let's just call it the Metra kit an absolute train wreck. If you've already bought this and have these problems buy the Schose connector. Also if you get a constant buzz or crackle take the thicker black wire with white stripe on the Schose connector (external amp ground lead), crimp on an eyelet connector and take it to chassis ground or a screw on the metal back side of the radio. And gee... why did I pay the extra money to buy this from Crutchfield? Because they used to have great connection kits and they used to take care of problems. And before you think oh this guy doesn't know what he's talking about I installed hundred of car stereos back in the 70's when I was a kid. Since then your Uncle Sam taught me how to wire aircraft and I earned and Associates Degree in Avionics Technology and a Bachelors Degree in Industrial Technology. But you don't need that much education to realize that a Metra Kit Connector is a piece of junk. Crutchfield are you listening to your customers? I don't think so.

Pros: Good FM, Good CD, Good Nav, Good Blu Tooth for phone. But the bad really outweighs the good > Crutchfield please ditch Metra kits.

Cons: AM Radio DOES NOT WORK. The Metra Kit Connector is absolute junk. Very disappointed with Crutchfield, it used to be a great company. When I called to discuss problems the tech had no response to my comments about the Metra Kit Connector's pins being too narrow and too thin to make good connections. He did recommend the Schoshe connector which I had to buy elsewhere. Tech did not offer me a refund for the piece of junk Metra Kit Connector.

Crutchfield response on March 30, 2015 Thanks for taking the time to submit your review. Our Tech Support team has a suggestion that might help with the AM radio reception. They'll be reaching out to you. As for the Metra harness, we have used this particular harness for years without any problems. We have refunded the cost of the Metra piece since you chose to get the Scosche harness. Don't hesitate to contact us if you have any further issues with the stereo.

Upgraded my 2007 Ford Expedition and has proven to be a major improvement from the stock unit. The installation was much easier than anticipated with a complete install done in 45 minutes! The navigation update took longer than the actual install.

Pros: Looks like a factory unit---back lights are programmable to match instrument illumination. Free navigation upgrade from the internet (make sure to have a micro SD available and ready for your computer). I live in a new development which the update included. Very economical compared to other available units. Quick customer service from Crutchfield. Much more power, and customizable with the very easy to use integrated EQ!

Cons: The ONLY reason I won't rate this unit a "5" is because of the lag powering up the unit. I'm slowly getting use to being halfway down the street before the unit comes on, often startling me with a loud/sudden volume of music. This might also hinder the back-up camera feature a bit useless. The instruction did not include the code required for pairing my iPhone, however Crutchfield supplied one in less than two minutes of being on the phone.

Great product for a good price! Purchased the unit as a gift to my wife for her 2001 Chevrolet Suburban. As noted by Crutchfield the unit is not designed to fit, but with a little custom work on a mounting bracket and some minor remolding to the trim, it fits great. Also added a backup camera and a rear monitor for the kids to watch movies on road trips. Installation did take a little bit of research locating wiring diagrams and such to correctly wire the parking brake and reverse light switches into place. However, in a vehicle that was designed for this type of unit I don't think it would have been as much of an issue. Overall, great product at a great price that worked exactly as is advertised. Also, you have 90 days within activating the unit to update the stock maps to the most current ones at no cost.

Pros: A lot of features, great price, flexibility to make additions later.

    2014 Ford F-250 Super Duty
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very satisfied with the unit for the money spent. It replaced a stock Ford AM/FM/single CD factory unit in a 2014 F250 XLT. The sound is much crisper and louder than the factory unit. I also ordered a Maestro control module and wiring harness so that I could use the factory steering wheel controls. I also opted for the Sirius/XM module, as I already had an Onyx satellite radio that I was removing and could transfer the subscription from. The install was pretty straighforward, except it took a little time to splice the 11 or 12 wires from the Jensen harness to the Maestro harness for steering wheel controls and to plug into the factory sound system harness. I didn't want to cut into any factory wiring, and didn't have to. Although it's not mentioned in the Ford instructions, I had to cut the rearmost ears off of the plastic mounting brackets that attach to the side of the unit. Otherwise there's no possible way it's going into the recess deep enough to mount. I'm very well satisfied with the quality of the unit for the money spent. Yes, you can find it cheaper elsewhere. But chances are good that you won't be able to pick up the phone to get almost immediate tech help if you run into any trouble spots during the install or operation after the install like you will at Crutchfield. That was worth a few more dollars to me. I'm no pro, but the install looks near factory with the kit provided by Crutchfield.

Pros: Crutchfield chat set me up with everything I needed when I explained the application and what my goals were. Tech support easily steered me in the right direction with my one minor wiring issue during the install. Like the size/design/colors of the touch screen. Easy to navigate menus.

Cons: It took a Jensen rep to explain how to fix a clock issue. Crutchfield rep suggested a firmware update but sent me a link to outdated firmware that was older than what was factory installed on the unit. Some issues I tried to address from the operator's manual, but some sections were not specific enough. Not really a con, but can be purchased many places cheaper. Crutchfield's rapid tech support when I needed it negates any price premium. Map updates were a pain. They need Mac suppo

Crutchfield response on February 10, 2015 Thanks for the kind words in your review, and also for the info about the firmware update. That's the most recent update that Jensen has published on their site. Apparently, the receiver is running the most up-to-date firmware available. We'll update our information about the firmware link being outdated.

Only installed a few days. Install was not bad, but some technical information was incorrect. Installed in a chev colorado 2007, tech says modifications to bracket ! True, but modification is nothing to do with truck, it was the universal plastic bracket, with five different sets of tabs on it, for multiple vehicles. Modification was a matter of removing some of the plastic tabs off the mounting bracket kit ! Asked if I can use existing xm antenna and not use xm antenna from oem radio, tech said yes/ false. Antenna of radio is a GPS antenna, not an xm antenna. Overall this is a cheap level GPS unit. Worse part is how weak the screen display is with sunglare from sides. Had to build a sunshade for mine. Without sunglare the screen is nice. Clock display is only on music display screens, and not on GPS screen. To change things, you almost always hit back to MENU screen to go to another level screen. Sound volume to me, is more then I will ever use with four speaker in my truck. It is rated half of the radio wattage it replaced, and no complaints at all for this point. My use is mostly xm, usb, and gps mods. Changing sound mods, does change for each function. But a volume screen for each mod is available to make some sound level adjustments, so when changing mods, the volume will be close to same level output. Gave it three stars over four stars, because of the sunglare washout ! Not to spend twice the price to upgrade, it is a good radio with some conditions

Pros: Very good sound, GPS does work fairly well so far. This is with gps antenna sitting on dash too. Screen view at nite is nice.

Cons: Sunglare does wash out the screen, like a $75 tom tom unit. Most time the menu screen has to be used to change things or mod. Clock does not display in GPS mod.

The only 'surprise' was I couldn't play a movie because the vehicle's OEM wiring harness does not have a lead for the Parking Brake. Once again, the Crutchfield tech was able to look up which wire from the brake sensor (above the e-brake pedal) was the right one to tap into and I was able to splice into it and run it to the brake sensor wire on the Unit's wiring harness. The touch screen performance is acceptable. Radio reception is good as well, Only complaint is the RDS text is really small so it's not easily readable while driving. It does not stand out, so if you don't know the unit has that feature you probably will not see it.

Pros: inexpensive (not cheap). Easy to install.

Cons: Small RDS text. Slow to turn on. Navigation is slow. Maps are difficult to update.

    1999 Toyota Tacoma
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I'm giving this head unit 5 stars because it has performed exceptionally well over the past 8 months I have owned it. At first I was scared because it was half the price of a lot of DVD receivers and this Jensen still has GPS! The unit is in my 1999 Toyota Tacoma and had definitely added tons of capacity to the sound of the truck. The GPS works great with tons of l nice features, Bluetooth and hands free also work like a dream. I have not experienced any problems with pandora or really any part of the system at all. Crutchfield did and amazing job with making sure you have all the necessary parts and wires and instructions. Wiring was a breeze and there was no permanent modifications or adapters needed to insta it. It almost looks factory in the dash other than the difference in the matte and gloss finishes. The touch screen isn't as crisp as you'd say on like an iPhone or most smart phones but gets the job done well. Grounding the parking brake wire to watch videos was also easy as I found a ground on the driver side kick panel. All my buddies love riding with me no me that I have a stereo that produced sound MUCH better than stock and I also have my playstation in it.

Pros: Great price, good features, great sound/tuning, nice fit/finish, and rhat you're able to receive if from crutch field because they gave me much more confidence in my first head unit purchase and install.

Cons: For $350... None, buy it

    2004 GMC Canyon
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Excellent value and performance. I opted for the sirus/xm option. Replacing the stock head unit in my GMC Canyon it went together easier than was expected (Crutchfield warned I would have to modify a bracket but it slipped right in) I'm a Samsung fan so I'm a little disappointed with the limited android integration all though the hands free works perfectly and is better than I expected. Pandora is the only android function so if my wife's phone costs me too much data, I guess I'll have to get her an iphone, cause this receiver rocks. Ran it for a month on its own power and was way better than stock, then added a 5 channel amp and sub, now I just have to worry about someone killing the battery. 5* for sure...you can't beat this unit for the money.

Pros: GPS is rock solid in the sticks and in the city. System control is excellent, radio reception excellent, dvd/c playback is excelent, hands free excellent.

Cons: Pandora is laggy, no android file system. Not Cons except I had to call to figure it out: The volume control can be programed to come on at any desired level, the book doesn't explain this, so till I figured it out it was turning up my 600 watts halfway everytime I turned it on. (Press and hold the volume for three seconds sets it to current level)...dvd brake lead is looking for ground...gps software update Incorrectly reports that you shutdown the unit wrong just ignore it once and it works.

    Great

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a very good system for the price. I originally thought I could install it myself, but it was not like installing a stereo in a car back in the '80s. I wanted to keep my Ford Sync and steering wheel controls. I had a professional install it for a reasonable price. I am still experimenting with all the settings to get what I want, but am very happy with it. The free navigation update that came with it was easy to install. Bluetooth pairing with my Android was simple. I also enjoy the Pandora connectivity. I did not connect my backup camera to the system as that was already connected to my rear view mirror. As far as the faceplate, Milan Maple is the darker color and was a perfect match to my Ford Lariat.

Pros: This is a great system.

Cons: If possible, an anti-glare touch screen.

Great radio has more functions that ones costing twice as much. I wanted to replace disk mounted Sirius radio and GPS. Radio arrived very quickly. Instructions for installation in my vehicle (Scion XB 2009) were e-mail and fairly easy to follow. Was up and running in under 30 minutes (not counting connecting the 2 supplied connectors together) Very pleased with the Radio and Crutchfield.

Pros: Everything works So many features Updating the GPS software and Maps was very easy Radio and Siriusxm sound great. Tech support when needed Crutchfield had the instructions for connecting the SWC control on hand

Cons: Not a big issue, Steering Wheel Control (SWC) unit missing instructions on how to connect to Jensen radio

    great product for the price

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great Radio / GPS. Installed on Jan 1, 2015. Intuitive controls and relatively easy to install. Has a lot of great "Gee Whiz" features. Once my relatives see it, they may decide to buy one too. I would highly recommend this product.

Pros: I just wanted a radio to replace the original in my wife's Saturn Vue, but this is "wayyy cool". It has features that are on the cutting edge of technical evolution!

Cons: I only wish that I bought this sooner!

Great Unit for my Dad's Camry

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This unit replaced a stock radio in a 2012 Toyota Camry. My father wanted in car GPS and was tired of fiddling with the portable Garmin he had. The installation was easy enough, however I was not able to get the steering wheel controls to work. I do plan on trying again, but for now it's not a big deal. The interface is nice and responsive, clear, and easy to follow. There are plenty of connections and I plan on installing a back up camera at a later date. One of my favorite features is the Pandora app that takes over control from the phone. Lastly, the speakers sound excellent and the EQ features are perfect for what my father needs.

    Pros: Interface, Sound, Connectivity, Controls

Cons: I was confused by the steering wheel controls, but to someone else it might be second nature.
