So, you're finally ready to do something about your ragged factory speakers. The beauty of Kenwood's Sport Series speakers is that you can seriously improve your sound without breaking the bank.

Sweet sound

The KFC-1365S 5-1/4 " 2-way speakers feature polypropylene woofer cones that will enrich your music with all the midbass and midrange details, while the 1" balanced-dome tweeters will make high notes soar. Kenwood also includes sharp-looking grilles in case you're doing a custom installation in your vehicle. Finally, you can enjoy your music the way it was meant to be heard, with clarity and emotion.

Highlights:

  • 5-1/4" 2-way speakers (pair)
  • polypropylene woofer with 1" balanced dome tweeter
  • grilles included
  • power range: 2-30 watts RMS (250 watts peak power)
  • impedance: 4 ohms
  • frequency response: 40-22,000 Hz
  • sensitivity: 91 dB
  • top-mount depth: 1-11/16"
  • warranty: 1 year
  • Our 60-day money-back guarantee

Why replace your car's original speakers?

The speakers that originally came in your car were made from inexpensive materials, designed to create acceptable sound at the lowest possible cost to the manufacturer. If you love music, you deserve better. Name-brand aftermarket speakers deliver fuller, richer sound with considerably more detail and nuance, and they're capable of playing louder and cleaner than factory speakers. Connect new speakers to your factory radio and you'll get the best possible sound from your dealer-equipped system. Pair them up with a new car stereo for a level of enjoyment that can rival a high-fidelity home audio experience.

Really good sound for speakers this size. Fit in my Tacoma doors with the supplied bracket(Thanks Crutchfield!) and sound MUCH better than the stock speakers. Bass gets a little "poppy" at high volume but again the speakers are only 5.25s.

These were a pleasant surprise, I had blown one of my factory front speakers and was looking for a reasonably priced comparable replacement. I am very pleased with the sound of them, they seem more accurate across the range. I hear things that were not apparent before because of their clarity. I am very happy I chose them.

Pros: nice sound, perfect fit.

Cons: none for me.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

All i can say is wow. I paired these guys with the same series Kenwood 6 1/2 speakers and the sound ordnance bp8 in the suburban and i couldn't be happier. These little guys give a world of high tones yet still let you feel the rich sound of some mid range and bass frequencies. Great buy for the money.

Pros: Fit directly in the door without the use or need of a bracket.

Cons: The mounting plate where the terminals are seems a little flimsy. As long as you are careful and use your other set of fingers to brace it, you're fine. Shouldn't even matter as long as you can use some common sense.

I put these speakers i with ease in my 2000 ford ranger. I took a test drive and as soon as i got home i removed them and put the factory speakers back in. the mid range sound quality is nice but as soon as you add a little bass the quality goes bad. there is hardly any bass output and when you can hear it ( maxed volume) it sound terrible. if you are looking for a nice sounding speaker with any bass what so ever, these speakers are not for you.

Pros: easy to install Mid range is Ok- not the best

Cons: poor bass output bad bass quality

Pros: FORM, FIT, FUNCTION IS IDEAL.

Bass Distortion like crazy

Written by: FrankG from Houston, TX on July 19, 2015

2006 Honda Element
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I would ONLY recommend these speakers if you have a way to filter out any bass frequencies and use separate speakers to fill out that low range. The speakers have decent mid-level response, but man oh man.. bass sounds horrible. Believe it or not, but my factory, paper speakers sounded better than these when songs with bass came on. Really crappy. I swapped them back out with my factory speakers and returned them to Crutchfield. Definitely avoid if you are in a simple audio installation with speakers in 4 doors that handle all the audio and the speakers handle all the ranges - these speakers don't handle low frequencies at all! Wish I had known before I bought them. Again, only consider these if you will be going through a crossover and only passing mids and highs through them.

Pros: Mids and Highs sound pretty crisp

Cons: Bass sounds horrible through these speakers.

2009 Chevrolet HHR
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Aside from the holes not lining up (and we were warned, so not a big surprise), the only thing that was problematic was the foam cushions not being available for the speakers. We were able to work around this, but these definitely would have been handy. Other than that, the speakers work well and were easy for my friend to put in place. Some double sided, padded scotch tape adhesive did help to end what little distortion there was from not having the liners, and all sounds fantastic.

Pros: Nice sound, easy to install.

Cons: Holes don't line up, so drill is necessary. Baffles unavailable.

Better than blown speakers but not great

Written by: ppr from Michigan on May 21, 2015

Bought to replace blown rears on my Odyssey van. They are definitely better than blown speakers but they cannot handle the bass output of the Honda stock receiver. I had to turn bass down to +1/+2 to keep them from overdriving. Another review mentioned harsh highs and mids, which is also an issue w/this speaker. If I had a different head unit or ability to EQ the front/rear speakers differently, they might be a good contender for their price range. My van only has bass/treble so I ended up fading the front speakers up more to keep the rears from getting as much volume. Fine with me since I'm usually the only passenger and my kid uses the headset for the rear DVD so the speakers are usually Off on a long trip or family drive. I bought them because "cheap speakers was better than blown or No speakers..." so that was certainly my expectation. Defintely don't get these if bass/low end is a Must for you out of this pair. I'm a semi-pro audio engineer and while sound quality is usually a high item on my list, it really came down to replacing the factory speakers with something decent for the lowest price possible. A disappointment in Kenwood but so far they are getting the job done.

Pros: Easy install Compatible with existing factory grilles Basic speaker at a low price

Cons: Low end and bass tends to distort, even at medium volumes or medium bass EQ Tweeters are overpowering in the 4k-8k frequency range, but could be corrected with decent EQ

Installed in about half an hour...most of which was spent pulling the door panels off. Sounded great and was an immediate improvement. Could turn the stereo up and hear the songs better instead of worse. This is compared to cheap factory speakers of course.

Pros: Clear sound. Small clearance so it fits behind the door panels with no mods.

Cons: None yet.

These speakers were cheap but had good reviews so I bought them to replace my factory speakers. They installed nicely, then sound is very clear but any sort of beat to the music sounds awful. Almost like a hard knocking sound. There is basically no bass at all and I don't listen to heavy bass music. I have to say that Crutchfield was very helpful and let me return them no questions asked. I did purchase a new car stereo that is amazing, I will purchase from them again

Pros: Sounds clear

Cons: Any bass at all sounds awful

these do get very loud but the tweeter is very harsh at moderate volumes if the treble is up at all. These speakers are very clean below half volume but anything higher and they sound like swap meet speakers even with the bass turned down, mids are lacking which surprised me, a snare drum is not snappy at all, this speaker is pretty much just like a giant tweeter. I am running them off of a jvc head unit but I will be getting some polks soon to replace these. Do yourself a favor and shell out the extra 20-30 dollars and get something better. the only good thing really is they have really nice grills and seem to be made well overall.

Pros: well made, nice grills , shallow mount, super light and easy to install

For the price, these speakers are an amazing value. I installed them as rear speakers in my 1996 BMW Z3. They have a fairly shallow mounting depth, a plus for me. Overall, the sound is full and does not favor either treble or bass. There is some bass, but this is not a substitute for a subwoofer. I would recommend them without hesitation, regardless of the value!

Pros: Consistent full range sound. Good cardboard template on the box. Awesome value!

Cons: No speaker wires - only 3" terminal connectors. If you are looking for heavy bass, this is not your speaker.

I not a fan of taking stuff apart on the car and trying to fit-in new stuff and experiencing pain in have parts not fit and stuff, but this darn thing works, and the install-kit stuff provided by Crutchfield really made it much simpler... no cutting no splicing; everything like snaps right into place like factory... feels good to get those spaces between the door panels all nicely cleaned, and the window motors/tracks lubed up too.

Pros: Hi-Fi sound... very decent repro of high-mids and esp lows compared to the factory speaks; my prev set breaks up a higher volume levels due to years of abuse

Cons: Doesn't glow with blue LED lights...

great for price

Written by: cd from 814 on October 31, 2014

Just installed these tonight to replace my stock rear speakers in an 01 jeep cherokee. Far better sound quality overall than the stock ones and at a great price. No these are not subwoofers so don't expect to them to sound like a jl w7. But they do have a little more "bump" on the low end than the stock speakers after all they are only 5.25".

I have had Rockford fostgate, kicker, alpine, blaupunkt and bose speakers in different vehicles the past and these matched with 6.5" kenwoods up front sounds just as good as any of them to me.

Pros: Price, sound, look.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I replaced my factory speakers with these Kenwood speakers and I have to say, I am impressed. These speakers were worth every cent. The sound quality is extremely clear in my car and I am very happy with these speakers.

Pros: Sound quality is very clear. Very good mids and highs. Decent lows, varies on the song.

Cons: If you have any songs that were downloaded from YouTube, chances are that they may be low quality and the bad quality really shows on these speakers. I would recommend playing only the best quality songs or you will not like the way your song sounds.

I bought these to replace the factory speakers in a 99 LeBaron. Don't expect great things from them, after all they were the cheapest 5 1/4 speakers on Crutchfield.com. The front speakers I replaced with these didn't work at all. I drive this car to work and back so I wanted something that would at least make some sound. I am happy with them.

Good Sounding Speaker for the Money

2004 Jeep Wrangler
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Let me preface this by stating that I have been using Kenwood products for a number of years - in previous and current vehicles. These were purchased as part of a set for my wife's 2004 Jeep Wrangler Sport with soft-top and roll-bar speakers. For the front in-dash speakers I used Kenwood KFC-4675C - the two have a real good balance together. Why did I pick these? Compared to other speakers at this price-point, they had the best range: 40-22kHz. These actually replaced a set of blown-out JVC speakers that had a frequency response of 20-24kHz, but they came with the car and were of unknown age.

Installation was very easy. Kenwood things easier by supplying new brackets and screws. The face-plates/shields for the speakers line up PERFECTLY on the mounting flanges of the speakers, so you're not sitting there trying to line everything up for an hour. However the face-plates are a bit over-sized. If you are not flush-mounting these to a door you may experience issues with the face-plates not fitting into recessed openings.

The sound is great for a mid-range speaker. I am not running a sub-woofer or amp in the system and for my wife (who drives this the most) the sound is clear and audible even when freeway driving (soft-top Jeep, remember?) Not too much of a punch/kick to these on full bass but well-rounded for low-mid range speakers. AND I can trust the quality.

Pros: - Good kit hardware. - Face-plates line up with the speaker mounts - Great customer service - Good quality for the price - Durable

Cons: - Over-sized face-plates

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Needed speakers for an old 1994 Volvo. Crutchfield very good at finding speakers that fit well, easy to install, and at a good price point given the age of the car and abuse my kids would contribute. BIg Box store had installed other name brand speakers in the front, and I saw it was not to challenging, and installed easily. And the speakers at near the same price point sound much better than the fronts. Might actually replace the fronts also if the car doesn;'t disintegrate first (300K miles and going strong)

Pros: Easy to install, good fit, good value.

Cons: Might be the last thing left standing in the car. If anyone is looking for a couple of doors with speakers for a 94 Volvo wagon.....

Good sound, easy installation in existing 1997 Honda Accord OEM speaker shroud/bracket.

Pros: Great fit in OEM speaker shroud/bracket.

Cons: Supplied screws were too long for OEM speaker shroud/bracket. OEM speaker 3 screws vs. 4 screws for Kenwood, so I used #8 X 1/2" sheet metal screws. Crutchfield-supplied speaker wiring harness too long, zip-tied the excess so it wouldn't interfere with fully rolled down window.

I bought these to replace 2 front door speakers in a 2005 GMC Sierra. The speakers were blown out when I got the truck. When I chose these Kenwood KFC-1365S speakers from Crutchfield as replacements, I noticed that they had a repacked pair for sale, possibly a return for a lower price. After thinking it over, I decided that a deal is a deal and it was worth a try. I was not disappointed. The speakers sound new, look new and work like new. Installation was very simple. On this particular truck, there was one extra bolt that wasn't on the installation sheet that needed to be removed to get the door panel off, but it was easy to spot behind the inside door handle. I had both speakers in and the door panels back on in about an hour. There were speaker clips in the package, but for this door installation, where the speakers would be front loaded, I only needed to screw the speakers to the front of the bracket, use the wiring harness to connect the speaker and wire and snap the bracket into place.

Replacement for e39 deck speakers not recommended

Written by: e39 Owner from North Carolina on February 22, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these to replace the stock deck speakers in a 2000 BMW 540i (e39). After the installation, I found them to be very flat with almost no low end whatsoever, so I put my 14-year old stock speakers back in since they sounded much better. Crutchfield accepted my request to return them and sent me a pre-paid UPS return shipping slip. While I did not like the speakers, Crutchfield customer support remains excellent as always. Note that the Master Sheet for an e39 for these speakers says you just need to pop off the speaker grills to replace them. This is not the case. You need to remove the back seat and deck to replace the speakers.

Pros: Drop-in replacement, excellent customer service

Cons: Poor sound quality, flat with not much low-end at all.
