Features

Tweeters: Each speaker has a 1" PEI balanced dome tweeter. A semi-dome tweeter has a dome placed inside a cone. Balanced dome tweeters are semi-dome tweeters with equal reproduction area given the cone and dome portions of the tweeter. PEI (Poly-Ether-Imide) is a polymer film that produces a wide soundstage for superior imaging.

Mounting: The speaker basket has multiple mounting holes and is designed to fit a standard 3-hole 6-1/2" application, Ford's 4-hole 6-1/2" application, and a standard 4-hole 6-3/4" application. (When mounting in a 6-3/4" application, use a speaker baffle to seal the inner ring of screw holes.)

Website states these will fit my 2004 Avalanche if I re-drill the mounting screw holes therefore it is not a direct fit. Also states for front doors. Will these not fit the rear doors of this same avalanche if I re-drill the mounting screw holes?

These are not component speakers. Component separate the tweeter from the mids and have a separate "brain" to do so.

Component ???????? awesome speakers for the price, sounded great they were in a 1996 del sol si but I did upgrade the whole system to kicker

Can I put this pair in a box?
antonio  Mar 08, 2016

A
Antoniio, I would think they would work great. I bought them as replacement for my Van's factory speakers. One of them had gone bad so I replaced the pair. They sound nice to me but I'm just an old codger that usually listens to talk radio most of the time. Hope this helps you! Larry

Q
Do these speakers need a amp?
david  Aug 10, 2015
6 answers
A
They shouldn't need an amp. I just hooked them up to the factory stereo and it sounded good an after market stereo would also work...
jeramiah  Aug 10, 2015
A
Did not use an amp when I installed into my 2011 Kia Optima.
jamison  Aug 10, 2015
A
They work good either way
dale  Aug 10, 2015
A
Technically these speakers will not "need" an amp but running off the factory receiver, or even aftermarket receiver they are way under powered or just really quiet speakers, I haven't ran an amp to them yet so I can't honestly say there performance under an amp but with out an amp and running on just the average receiver power they are not worthy, just grab the next step up(ken wood performance series I think) for the price
brogan  Aug 10, 2015
A
These are car speakers. Usually you would just swap out the speakers that are housed in the doors and connect it to the main that is already in the vehicle.
shawn  Aug 10, 2015
A
I installed these in my Silverado and no amp was required.

What are the advantages of coaxial speakers versus component speakers?
steven  Apr 07, 2015
2 answers
A
I am not sure
sherry  Nov 16, 2017
A
If your car has one speaker per door panel, coaxial speakers are probably the way to go. Component systems require a more advanced install, but for vehicles with separate tweeters, they are a good option. Component systems will likely give you a higher quality sound too.

I want to get these as a gift to upgrade a 2011 Hyundai Elantra. Will they create a noticeable difference/improvement in sound from the factory speakers?
bridgette  Dec 01, 2014
1 answer
A
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: These speakers will give a louder and cleaner sound than the stock speakers in their Hyundai Elantra. I expect them to also get a fuller sound with cleaner bass. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.

Q
If I bought two pair of these for my Jeep Wrangler 2010. And 2 10 inch subs. What sort of amplifier would I need?
roger jones  Nov 20, 2014
6 answers
A
I would say a good receiver deck for small speakers. Then an amp rated near the peek watts of the sub's would work good depending on the sound or music you listen to.
jeramiah  Nov 21, 2014
A
If you plan on amplifying all speakers purchased (2 pair for the doors and a pair of subs) you will need at least a 5 channel amp, or a 4 channel for the doors and either a two channel or mono amp for the subs. Personally, I installed these in my buddy's Silverado and he is pleased just using the jvc head unit he bought. If you're going to amp the speakers and subs separate, I'd suggest the kicker dxa-250 as the rms rating is the same for the speakers and the amp. I can't suggest a sub amp for you, because I don't know what kind you have. Also, before you go trying to throw different amps at your setup, check the back of your head unit to see if you have the correct number of outputs to do so. If you don't, you can always do line levels, but that's a whole 'nother can of worms.
ray  Nov 21, 2014
A
I don't run mine on amp just Kenwood receiver
dale  Nov 21, 2014
A
You won't "need" an amplifier for the kfc-1665s, your head unit will push them I would just focus on getting an amp for your subs that will push the rms of them and then later if you want more power out of the 1665s then I would worry about getting a small amp for them
brogan  Nov 21, 2014
A
These did not sound particularly good being driven by a stock system. I would say that applying too much power, such as from an amplifier, would destroy them in short order.
damian  Nov 21, 2014
A
Thanks for your question. For information on selecting the best amp for your subs I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences between the amp models and help you make the best choice for your system.

Q
These speakers are a perfect fit and they sound great in the front doors of my 2002 GMC Sierra 1500 pickup. However, while installing them I noticed a factory 1" tweeter in each front door. Should I leave the factory tweeters alone?: Or, should I replace them? Can replacement tweeters be ordered without ordering the whole speaker set?
james  Aug 19, 2014
1 answer
A
You can likely leave the front tweeters alone. However, I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They should be able to tell you for sure, and help you pick out replacement tweeters if needed.

Q
I want to try and replace my stock speakers with these. I have 2000 durango with the infinity system. Would I need any kind of adaptors to get them to work with the factory amplifier/wiring or can I just hard wire them directly without any other integration?
scott  Jul 07, 2014
3 answers
A
I replaced the front speakers of my wife's 2006 Subaru Baja with these, and Crutchfield included the needed wiring harness and very comprehensive instructions for my specific application with the speakers. My guess is they will do the same for you as they seem to have a huge library of individual installation procedures available. You might also consider their tool kit for removing panels etc., I found it extremely useful. Good speakers for the price too!
george  Jul 08, 2014
A
Crutchfield provides you with any kind of adapter that you might need. If for some reason they don't work you can always find them at a hardware store and solder them on yourself.
josh  Jul 08, 2014
A
You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you.

Q
Are these two speakers for one door or two for both front doors?
jesse  Apr 28, 2014

A
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: The Kenwood speakers are sold per pair, and for most vehicles that would cover both doors If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.

Q
I was planning on buying this pair of speakers to replace my stock speakers in my 2010 Nissan Frontier. I'm installing a single 12" sub soon and I was wondering if these speakers would be over powered? Please advise!
james  Apr 09, 2014
1 answer
A
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: It really depends on the amount of power that is going to that sub. If it is less than 500 watts, you may be ok. If you use more power than that, it can get pretty loud, so you may want to reinforce the mids. Take a look at this 4 channel amp. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500MRVM500/Alpine-MRV-M500.html?tp=35834 This will bump up the volume of you mid-range speakers and make the system more balanced. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.
