Why replace your car's original speakers?

The speakers that originally came in your car were made from inexpensive materials, designed to create acceptable sound at the lowest possible cost to the manufacturer. If you love music, you deserve better. Name-brand aftermarket speakers deliver fuller, richer sound with considerably more detail and nuance, and they're capable of playing louder and cleaner than factory speakers. Connect new speakers to your factory radio and you'll get the best possible sound from your dealer-equipped system. Pair them up with a new car stereo for a level of enjoyment that can rival a high-fidelity home audio experience.

Great factory replacements

Written By Dave, Wisconsin on Monday, May 04, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Just the right replacement for the stock speakers. Good sound with the factory standard stereo.

Pros: easy install, correct fit for 2006 Chevy Silverado

Cons: None

Clean sound for the price

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Needed to replace all 4 door speakers in my Silverado and wasn't interested in spending a bunch of money. Good, clean sound on mids and highs. I wasn't expecting much bass, but they deliver decently depending on the type of music being played. Running through stock head unit (8 watts, RMS, maybe) they can handle high volume.

For the money, excellent product.

Pros: Price, clean sound at higher volume.

Cons: Bass is weak, but it's a full-range speaker.

I purchased two sets (4) of these speakers to replace the factory speakers in my 4-door 2004 Colorado crew cab. Installation was a cinch with the wiring harness and mounting brackets provided by Crutchfield. I paired the speakers with a Kenwood DNX571HD radio that I had recently installed and the improvement in the sound was phenomenal. Outstanding value!

Pros: Easy installation, good sound, great value

Significant improvement

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Pulled speakers from 2004 Honda Accord. Holding new and old speakers in hand, I could feel how cheap the OEM paper speakers are. After install, WOW, what a huge difference in sound quality. If you have 10 year old OEM paper speakers, upgrade them. You won't regret. I also upgraded rear speakers and stereo. Sounds even better.

Pros: Car specific wiring harness included. No soldering required. Ease of install will vary of course depending on car. Crutchfield gives good instructions.

Cons: none really.

Good bang for your buck

Entry level speakers to replace the OEM in door speakers. Great sound for the price. JVC Kenwood products have never let me down before and still prove to be a great investment.

Pros: Best fit for the OEM GM 6.5" speakers. Good crisp sound, perform like speakers 3x their price.

Cons: None as of yet!!

Good cost effective OEM replacment

Written By WM, New York on Tuesday, April 21, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Good speakers for OEM replacement in a 2006 GMC Sierra. What really clinches this is Crutchfield's free inclusion of the instructions, mounting kit and wiring harness adapter that makes makes installation a snap. Don't even think about buying bare speakers form a big box store without these extras.

Pros: Good sound, great bundle with the mounting kit.

Cons: Not a significant upgrade over factory sound, consider an upgrade to a higher end speaker based on what you will save by getting the installation kit free.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought these to replaces my front speakers in my civic. I also bought the mounting bracket "scosche sahc634"......can not say anything bad about each product I bought but when installing these speakers on to the mounting brackets be aware that you will have to modify the speaker housing to allow the screw that holds the mounting bracket to the car to fit. Also the screws provided with the ospeakers are too long for the mounting bracket.

Pros: Slight modifications to speakers housing to allow mounting screw to hold.

Cons: May have to cut screws (provided by kenwood) to allow bracket to sit flush on car door.

Replaced GM factory door speakers

Written By Jim F, MN on Sunday, April 19, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The factory door speakers in my old Cjevy pickup rotted out their surrounds, so I picked these up for economy, and because they came with the mounting rings and wire harnesses to make it easy. I got what I wanted, and some decent sounding speakers, too. Full factory look was maintained.

Pros: Inexpensive, decent sounding, Crutchfield provided mounting ring and wiring harnesses for my vehicle for free, job was easy to install. Sounds decent.

Cons: A little tinny on the upper end, but responded ok to factory radio treble adjustment without losing to much body.

Nice

overall improvement from factory

Written By cchambers, Georgia on Tuesday, April 14, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The mid-range and treble are a notable improvement over the factory speakers in my 2006 Civic, but the bass is no better. Judging by the specs (frequency response & efficiency) I expected better bass even when running off the stock stereo's power, but the price still makes it worth it. Had it not been so inexpensive I would have give less stars. Still great bang for the buck.

Pros: low profile, cheap replacement for oem speakers. Mids and highs sounds modestly better than stock speakers.

Cons: No improvement in bass over stock speakers.

Ok, but not exceptional

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased these Kenwood speakers to replace the factory ones in a 2007 Chevy Impala. I replaced the drivers door speaker before with ones from a junkyard because GM has the door chime "play" through that speaker. I puchased these Kenwood speakers and they are OK. I think the factory ones, as cheap as they were, sounded better. These speakes sound like a cheap pair of headphones IMO. In reality, I am not dissapointed due to the price that I paid, I never expected them to sound like a more expensive speaker.

Pros: Price, Crutchfield free accessory items which lead to easy installation, Quick shipping

Cons: Sound cheap

Nice replacement to worn out OEM speakers

These speakers, with the adapter kit that came with them from Crutchfield, fit perfectly in my daughter's 2001 bug. The instructions were excellent and easy to follow, The job did take a little longer than anticipated, but that is probably because I am a rookie with installing car speakers ;)

Pros: Sound quality for price, installation clarity

Cons: None

Very easy to install in my Honda Element (even though the instructions weren't exactly correct). Sounds much better than the busted factory speakers--Will continue to replace other speakers in the car over time--I expect that I will be able to tell a huge difference in sound quality as more are replaced.

Pros: Simple install, great price, comes with accessories

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased these speakers to replace the original front speakers in my truck which were blown when I blown when I bought the truck. Because I don't normally drive this vehicle that much I was getting by with just rear speakers. I have a long trip coming up this week and the thought of an 8-hour drive with half a sound system just does not sit well with me. Yet, I did not want to invest a ton of money. So... Crutchfield to the rescue: 10 minutes on-line to find an acceptable brand name product, $40 out of my wallet, and half an hour to install them when the arrived just two days later. Now I am ready for my trip. As always, Crutchfield supplies great instructions, pre-wired adapters and the proper mounting brackets.

So how do the sound? Fine. Not great, but fine... which is better than an $40 of speakers ought to sound. That is why the get 4 stars from me. However, when it comes to value, that would be a 5-star rating.

Pros: Brand name and a bargain price. Usual Crutchfield ease of installation.

Cons: Considering the price, no cons. There are obviously better sounding speakers available.

Nice, inexpensive speakers

Written By Brian, Manhattan, KS on Saturday, April 04, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Nice, inexpensive speakers. These were used in the front door of my 2004 Silverado 2500HD crew-cab. The stock speakers were shot. The "fits with bracket" disclaimer wasn't really accurate for me. To be clear, I expected the provided bracket and hardware to allow installation with maybe a few holes drilled...not the case. It just wasn't going to work without trimming some sheetmetal, or getting my own hardware. I decided to use the stock brackets. I just popped the stock speakers off (they're glued on), tore the fabric covering off, and screwed the new speakers to the brackets. I used the enclosed fasteners...even though they stuck out a bit on the front side...not clearance issues, and you can't see them behind the door panel. To get them back in the door I tweeked the upper metal lip in the door out some with pliers. The speakers installed nice and tight, so no worries there.

The speakers have better sound than stock (I think...it's been several years since they were not shot), and the price is hard to argue with. I'm happy with them, and glad the brackets were free.

Pros: price

Cons: brackets for this application leave a lot to be desired

No complaints

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I ordered a Kenwood DPX791BH in-dash receiver to install in my 2010 Colorado Ext Cab. Crutchfield had a special where if you also bought two sets of Kenwood speakers, they knocked off $50. I ordered the Kenwood KFC-P709PS for my front doors and then the Kenwood KFC-1665S for the rear doors. I did not intend to replace the OEM speakers in the rear doors since you don't hear much of them from the drivers seat. But the special enabled me to replace the rear door OEM speakers at virtually no cost. Installation was straight forward and I used the Crutchfield supplied Scosche SAC-656 Speaker Mounting Brackets. I did need to drill three holes in order to mount the speakers.

Pros: Installation was straight forward. The price was right.

Cons: None
