So, you're finally ready to do something about your ragged factory speakers. The beauty of Kenwood's Sport Series speakers is that you can seriously improve your sound without breaking the bank.
The KFC-1665S 6-1/2" 2-way speakers feature polypropylene cones that will enrich your music with all the midbass and midrange details, while the 1" balanced-dome tweeters will make high notes soar. Kenwood also includes sharp-looking grilles in case you're doing a custom installation in your vehicle. Finally, you can enjoy your music the way it was meant to be heard, with clarity and emotion.
The speakers that originally came in your car were made from inexpensive materials, designed to create acceptable sound at the lowest possible cost to the manufacturer. If you love music, you deserve better. Name-brand aftermarket speakers deliver fuller, richer sound with considerably more detail and nuance, and they're capable of playing louder and cleaner than factory speakers. Connect new speakers to your factory radio and you'll get the best possible sound from your dealer-equipped system. Pair them up with a new car stereo for a level of enjoyment that can rival a high-fidelity home audio experience.
great product would buy again
Pros: great sound much better than factory
Pros: Quality speakers that are extremely easy to install.
Cons: Screw holes don't make a whole lot of sense in terms of the cover verse the speaker
Factory Subaru speakers had fuller sound then these Kenwoods. The only reason I didn't return them was that I'm planning to trade in my car soon. I guess they would be okay if you listened to books on CDs or talk radio.
Pros: Cost, upper range
Cons: build quality, mid-range and low end sound
Very good speaker for the cost. Installed as replacement front door speakers in a 2009 Acura TSX. Works well with the Tech package and very suitable replacement.
Pros: Low cost, solid overall sound.
Cons: None that I can think of.
Used these to replace Honda Civic factory speaks in the front doors. Although the factory speakers are very cheap, for some reason they do a better job of reproducing bass than these Kenwoods. Not disappointed though, these are nice two-way speakers for the price. I'll work with the EQ settings on the new Pioneer radio to gain a little more fullness overall.
Pros: Super easy installation. Nice fit. Good quality sound.
Cons: Not quite as much bass response as the oem speakers.
Good replacement for most factory speakers. What they lack in bass extension and resolution they make up for in errors of ommission, making them easy to live with -- albeit not as apparently efficient as their rated sensitivity might imply.
Pros: They know their place; they get more wrong by not attempting to reproduce something they cannot rather than attempting to do so and making a mess. This makes them less offensive than they could be when the going gets rough. Not strident. Decent midrange yields acceptable vocals. Easy to drive, though not super-efficient. Relatively clean sound at most sensible volume levels. Not the typical boom-and-tizz cheapos.
Cons: Lack bass extension. The bottom end tends to be absent. This is usually better than having it overemphasized or having a midbass hump disguised as true bass, but it should be noted nonetheless. Are not immune to breaking up and audibly clipping if asked to do too much. Decent resolution and detail, but no more than that. No more sensitive than factory speakers.
These are pretty nice speakers for the price. I've had them for about a month now and I love them.
Pros: good quality made
Great bang for your buck, I installed these in my 00 Silverado, easy install took me less than a hour.
Pros: Cheap, great quality, awesome sound for the price
These speakers have a great sound for the price, great deal with better than OEM sound.
Pros: Great price, very good sound.
Not good sound definition. Works ok with high enf speakers in the back and these in the front with fade to the rear
Cons: Sound quality
these speakers where very easy to install and sound great!!
great fit was an easy install.. and they sound great!
better than the factory on Honda Accord Sport. Dropped right in with the Crutchfield supplied speaker adapters.
Pros: great price, better than factory
These speakers were recommended by my advisor and he was right ! they sound crisp and were easy to install in my 2001 Chrysler 300M. The car has a 360w amp built in from the factory so I did not experience poor sound quality sometimes mentioned. These fit behind the OE door speaker grilles just fine.
Pros: Inexpensive with good clarity
Cons: They could have offered better hardware ( cheap screws ), for this installation , the speaker adapter had one ear that is too long for this car.
I bought these speakers for my Jeep and was so happy with the quality for the money, that I bought them again for my Dad's truck.
Pros: Great sound and easy install.
Big upgrade in sound with factory fit. Very reasonable cost for improvement in quality. Crutchfield made purchase and install a snap.
Swapped out a pair of OEM Lexus speakers for these, and ran new wiring straight from the HU to speaker to bypass stock amp. Magnets were FAR smaller in heft than OEM, which was a little bit of a red flag. Fitment wise, speakers went in easily with (additional purchase) adapters. Sound, however, does leave some left to be desired. Potentially could be remedied by running off of an aftermarket amp, but its not like I'm pushing these to the point of distortion anyway.
Pros: inexpensive, correct sizing, lightweight (?)
Cons: not great sound
I would have trusted the critical reviews on these speakers. They are only good if you are listening to talk radio. Otherwise, pay a bit more and get some better ones.
Pros: They make discernable sound and are reasonably priced.
Cons: They have no real rich tone. They don't handle higher volumes.
Great sound, That's Kenwood for you.
Pros: Sound and easy install
If you are looking to replace the factory speakers because they are blown or just want something that sounds better then these speakers are it. If you want something for show and/or competition than keep on looking. I replaced my speakers because one factory speakers was blown. I was please with the sound it put out. I also like the fact Crutchfield provide me with the wire harness for the speakers so it was just plug and play. There was no addition charges for this.
Pros: Good sound
Great price. Good quality. Very clear and crisp sound. Not a lot of bass. They fit well in my doors.
Pros: Great price. Quality.
Cons: Not much bass.
Finally got around to installing the speaker's... now that final's are over. After installation of the speakers I started Pandora and noticed that both the speakers in the front were blown. The Kicker 4x6's I bought sound superb tho.
Pros: Easy to install.
Cons: Both speakers were blown right after installation. Never received the mounting brackets that were supposed to be shipped with the order.
Purchased a 2002 Chevy Avalanche as a second vehicle/ tow vehicle. Speakers were blown. Installed was easy with the provided instructions and replaced the speakers in about 20 minutes. Great sound for the price, great value.
Pros: Easy to install, value
great quality, fast delivery, easy install , great sound
Pros: easy installation, great quality
I have one of those Chevy Silverado's with the junk door speaks known to stop working. After looking around for speakers in my area and not finding something I liked, I called Crutchfield. Should have done that first. The gentleman I spoke with (Cjarlie) asked my problem and what I would use the speaker for. All I wanted was a replacement comparable to what was in the truck. Charlie asked a few more questions, did a little research, and recommended the Kenwood KFC-1665S. He also told me all the needed material, wiring, speaker bracket, and instructions would be included. He said to call anytime for assistance, if needed. The included wiring and brackets I'm sure would have been an added fee at most other stores. Crutchfield stands behind the products they sell. I bought other products from them and had a problem with one and they took care of it with no problem, unlike a retailer in my area of a product my son purchased from that retailer. My order was delivered quickly and on time. The instructions were right on and made installing the speakers much easier for a novice. Thank You Charlie and Crutchfield
Pros: Good products. Good service and knowledgeable staff.
Great product, service & price - Crutchfield is a winner!
Pros: Easy install - great sound!
Speakers were a great value and sound great. These are not a set of high dollar competition speakers but for replacing factory speakers you won't need anything better. I would highly recommend to anyone.
Pros: Good value and good sound. Go ahead and get the scratched & dent ones if they are available. $10.00 cheaper and looked brand new.
More clear sound that the factory speakers. The low frequency cut is maybe around 160hz to 200 hz so is very lo mid. Don't wait to feel bass. If you crank the Bass in the eq is going to be distorted. But nice speaker for the price and esay to install.
Pros: Clear sound crisp highs
Cons: No Bass
Product came with a defective speaker. One plays fine, the other has distorted sound even at low volumes. Will be returning.
Cons: One speaker defective
more than your moneys worth
These speakers are simply terrible. I ordered a set for my '06 Chevy Trailblazer to replace the blown front door speakers...these are worse than the stock, base level, blown out speakers. They crackle terribly even at low volume...to the point that it sounds like a delayed echo. Even just lightly touching the woofer cone with my finger makes the crackling noise. Crutchfield sent a replacement pair and they have the same problem...4 speakers, non-consecutive, with the same manufacturing defect would be bad enough but there is more. I measured the impedance of each speaker...they are all different, ranging from 2.5-2.5 ohm (they should be 4 ohm or at least close). The brackets have lots of holes (so that they didn't have to include $0.25 adapter plates like good brands do), but they are all wrong...they don't match up to the Crutchfield vehicle-specific adapter plates, and they don't match up to the standard 6.5" holes that other brands do. That is three major manufacturing defects on each of 4 speakers...I know they contracted out production, but it is still their fault for not checking the produced units. At this point, if a $500 kenwood setup was on sale for $20, I'd pass.
Pros: At least I know never to waste money on anything from Kenwood...ever again. Crutchfield support was as better than I could have hoped for.
Cons: Terrible quality, no quality control at all, poor overall design, worse sound than a Victrola (a lot worse), and 12 major manufacturing defects per 4 speakers. If they had shipped an empty box it would have been better...at least then I wouldn't have had to waste so much time with them.
DECENT SOUND FOR THE PRICE
I bought a pair of these speakers for my Nissan Altima, and now that I bought a Jeep I wanted them for the Jeep, Very happy that I did.
Pros: For the price in my opinion the best bang for your buck
Cons: Cant`t find anything bad to say about these speakers.
For sound, and certainly for the price, these speakers absolutely rock! I put them in both my Outback XT, and my son's Legacy GT in place of the completely blown stock speakers. His car has a recent aftermarket head unit, they sound better with it than the stock one in my car. If you want a inexpensive upgrade, these are it!
easy to install. nice basic inexpensive speakers
Pros: sound very clear at low volume
Cons: Higher volume with increase base overwhelm speakers easily
They went in great to replace stock speakers
Pros: Every thang come with the speakers to install in the truck
I'm really disappointed in these speakers, but what was I expecting for an inexpensive pair of speakers? The front door stock speakers were deteriorated and needed replaced. The back door speakers were fine but I decided to replace those too while I was at it. I should have left the originals alone. Spend the extra money to get something decent
Cons: All around inferior sound quality
quality construction plus far better sound quality than the factory speakers and with the speaker mounting kit and wiring kit from Crutchfield, they were a breeze to install too, but like any of these small speakers, don't count on much bass, if you need bass and if you're like me, you need bass, you gotta get a sub or 2 and an amp, only then will you truly appreciate the sound quality of these
Pros: Kenwood quality, great price
Cons: none so far
One month after the warranty ended one of the speakers started to rattle. I assumed that the speaker was either loose or touching the door panel etc. Upon investigation, I discovered that something within the speaker itself was rattling. I will be replacing these with a more quality product.
Pros: Low cost
Cons: Poor quality
these speakers work great, sound much better than the stock speakers in my silverado !!!
Pros: bolted right in
Packaged very well and not damaged on arrival. These speakers provided much better clarity than the stock ones that blew out in my car. The instructions given by Crutchfield have been extremely helpful and allowed for simple installation.
Pros: Clarity is great. Full sound with stock stereo. Plug and play.
Cons: Would have to use amp to get full potential out of these speakers which is expected. Not much of a con but just a variable to consider.
Great speakers durable too.
Did fit great and sounded good but not what i was looking for , will return for credit and i ordered kicker brand to replace .
Great for the price, replaced my blown BMW speakers.
Pros: Low profile
Speakers sound good but don't have enough power. Construction is relatively cheap in comparison to other brand speakers in this price range.
Cons: Bad sound
Sounds great for the price
Does the job and more inexpensively
Pros: Sounds good, saves money, straightforward installation
Used to replace 8 year old JBL Inifinity 3k700 Azera speakers. Glad I replaced only one of the originals and did a side by side comparison. The Kenwood may sound ok by itself.... But in comparison to the 8 year old JBL it sounded like a tin can. I can not recommend the Kenwoods and am looking for a JBL replacement.
Pros: Reasonable build
Cons: Maybe be ok if nothing else to compare to. Otherwise I suggest JBLs. I want to return them for my money back.
Easy install if you check the box for a conversion kit first, which I did not!!! Sound is pretty good, bass could be a bit better but all around great speaker for the price.
Pros: Good price, easy installation
Cons: some sound quality issues at higher volume
Realize they are cheap speakers. Not happy with the sound and they won't take much volume out of my kenwood without distorting and bottoming out. I am returning these to try something different.
These speakers sound great and for a great price. They are very easy to install with the brackets and wires that crutchfield sends with them.
Pros: Easy installation. Great sound.
So easy to install I'll definitely be back for more
Pros: So easy to install sound great and til no time at all
Cons: I have no complaints
Good for what they are and shallow fitment for Honda worked great.
Pros: Construction, sound, shallow fitment
Cons: They are what they are for being size limited
Speakers sound good but they don't have to much power.
Pros: Good sound
Cons: Not to much power
These are great little replacement speakers... but if you are looking for any thumb, you will need a sub. I will bet they will pair nicely with any number of powered subs.
Pros: Ease of installation, crisp top end.
Purchased these speakers for replacement only, after a quick replacement they sounded a little better than stock speakers, I was however impressed with the shipping time. I would recommend these as replacement items.
Pros: Fast Shipment, well packaged, instillation kit included.
Cons: Not premium sound but do work well with my system.
For the price, about what one would expect.
Pros: Great high frequency response.
Cons: Low frequency response leaves a lot to be desired.
Good Sound for the money. Just needed replacement speakers for car that had the Radio stripped and was surprised at what i got for the Money
Pros: Bang for the buck
Cons: It is an inexpensive speaker so don't expect super rich sound but as good as any stock speaker
I put these in a 2000 G.M.C. Sierra... with the supplied harness & adapter plates, the job took less than 30 mins.
Pros: nice & easy to install, sound great
I replaced the blown speakers in front doors. I really like the sound and plane to buy a set for the back doors.
Pros: The sound is good.
Cons: Sound is a little bright but radio settings correct most of it.
easy replacment and sounds clear great deal
Pros: my truck has no power windows or locks very easy install
Cons: no cons
thank-you for a excellent speaker, with all the wires and brackets to make the job easier.
Pros: good price, good service thank-you
Giving a 5-star rating because it is a really, really nice speaker for the price and they are Exactly as advertised. The sound is crisp and clean. The quality of the speakers is top-notch. Swapped out my factory speakers (in my completely stock) 2005 Sliveradoo Z71...Everything else remains stock. The cheap paper cones (on my stock speakers) disintegrated around the entire length of both front speakers when I examined them after removal. These replacements helped get the sound back to a nice listening condition. One thing is for sure -- The New Speakers Don't Have A Lot Of Bass -- I'm no Audiophile, but it seems the stock head-unit struggles to drive the bass. I have the bass adjustment turned up to the next-to-highest setting and that gives just about as much bass as possible. Still, a great replacement from the dilapidated speakers that were completely distorting.
Pros: Great Price and the installation kit made replacing the speakers an absolute breeze
Cons: Not a lot of bass, but most likely because of the stock head-unit.
2002 Silverado 1500 LS, easy install with brackets and connectors supplied by crutchfield. Several vids on youtube provide excellent instructions for removing the door panel. Slightly less bass than OEM speakers. Only replaced front speakers, I was going to leave the tweeters connected but one had broken loose so I disconnected both in the front. Speakers are nice and clear and I get plenty of volume with the stock radio.
Pros: easy install, great value for oem replacement speakers at less than half the cost.
Cons: none at this time
Great set of speakers for the price. Nice clean sound.
Pros: Installation versatility, good brand, clean sound.
I thought my stock speakers were terrible, until I put these in. I replaced all 4 speakers and 1 week later I put the stocks back in.
Cons:Crutchfield response on September 14, 2015 Whenever you encounter a problem with anything you purchase from Crutchfield, especially a situation like this, please contact our customer service or tech support teams right away. They can help you solve the problem or set up a return within 60 days of purchase.
Was impressed with the fact that these bolted right in, didn't need the adapter plates.
Pros: Easy to install and sound great.
Fit and sound good
My 2010 GMC Sierra rear door speakers died, and I replaced them with these. Better than what it came with, and for the price...you can't beat them.
Pros: inexpensive, easy install with the free mounting brackets and wiring harness connectors from Crutchfield
Cons: for the price...none
I finished out the audio system in the suburban with these and their 5 1/4 inch counterparts. Also paired it with the sound ordinance bp8. These kenwoods are a great sound for the money. mainly mid range, not amazing highs, but you can definitely feel a richer sound. It only took about an hour to install all four. highly recommend these guys if you're looking for a non-obnoxious upgrade.
Pros: easy install, rich sound
Cons: was expecting more highs out of this, but oh well. that's what tweeters are for.
Replaced old speakers in '06 Scion xA. Probably will get more when the rear speakers go out.
Pros: Excellent price, quick shipping, easy installation
Nice speakers easy imstall sound way better then the old ones i had on my envoy
Pros: Good sound and the price is grate
I am really amazed at the speed in which they arrived (2 days from order date) and how accurate the website describes the product and the process of installation. If everyone ran their business with this level of integrity, it would take the apprehension out of ordering online. I'm somewhat of a backyard mechanic, so I was not intimidated to attempt this, but I feel certain that Crutchfield reps would have been on the other end of the line if I had called for assistance. The speakers work fine for the price point and are a far cry from the junk that GM (government motors) installed at the factory on the cheap.
Pros: Worked as advertised- the wire adapters and the plastic mount adapters were a huge help- and are included free.
This was a great replacement for busted stock speakers. They sound great and got here really fast.
Pros: Excellent sound Fast and free delivery Brackets and Harnesses included free
Cons: I had to buy new screws for them to fit securely
nicely built speakers. tone quality is midrange, was also expecting clear highs
Pros: great price
Cons: 2 way speaker but mostly mid tone
Can't wait to add the Pioneer Stereo - and may get rid of the front factory speakers. The one think I realized when my stereo guy replace the factory speakers - how cheap they were. Stand by Crutchfield - the harness - the bracket for free - and I had my Ipad with the MasterSheet on it - as my stereo guy kinda laughed - as in - I don't need "no stinking MasterSheet list" - but as a DIY - save yourself some money - my stereo guy is also my personal mechanic! He had the tools, and been there and done it. Crutchfield is all I talk about at work - love my new rear Kenwoods. You Guys - Thanks again - and now I hear the difference! Yesssssss! ;-)
I put 4 of these in my 2005 Camry. The front two fit perfectly and the back two worked out nicely as a modified fit with the ABS plastic that I cut with a jigsaw. These are not going to bring down the house but they are a quality speaker for a more than reasonable price. Significant upgrade from the stock speakers that they replaced.
Great replacement speaker, easy to install and sound great for a stock replacement.
Replacing original equipment replacement was as good or better than the original. The shipping was quick the price was was excellent. Instructions for installation were very well detailed.
Pros: Support all the way through.
Yes its a five star for the price range and the product, as you cannot expect more for this price. Install was really easy and sounded way better than stock speakers. Would have been great if crutchfield sent couple of extra mounting screws along with the adapter bracket they sent. But its not bad for the speakers.
Pros: Price, sound, Easy Install
My daughter is enjoying the sound
Pros: Good sound
Cons: Should have 4 screw bracket
Not the best 6.5" speakers. But it they are completely worth the price.
Not bad. Wasn't expecting worlds of difference. Adapters fitted to these speakers definitely do not fit like OEM. The door panel is pushed out where the new speakers are and one of the pops refuses to go in. I bought these through Crutchfield because of the awesome customer service and all the included extras, but the adapters need to be redesigned. Disappointed. Don't feel like uninstalling them to return them.
Pros: Highs are improved noticeably with Aftermarket receiver.
Cons: Lows are lacking, but I expected a slight decrease. Speakers and adapters are slightly thicker than OEM setup and do not allow door pops to close completely.
I bought these not for a car. But for a Shop Radio. My 30 Watt x 2 RMS amp drives them good enough for my needs.
Pros: Grills supplied. Speaker leads
Cons: Cant think of one
Installed these into a bone stock 2002 GMC Sierra pickup front doors. Worst sounding speakers I have ever had. Any volume above very low and the speakers just can't handle the bone stock Delco radio. My stock speakers sound like heaven next to these junk speakers. Do Not Buy!!
Cons: Sound is terribleCrutchfield response on August 31, 2015 We forwarded this review to our Technical Support team for follow-up. Lifetime tech support comes with every Crutchfield purchase. Also, whenever you encounter a problem with anything you purchase from Crutchfield, especially a situation like this, please contact our Customer Support team. Purchases from Crutchfield can be returned or exchanged within 60 days of the purchase.
Did not use adapter, minor modification to oem mount.
Pros: Fit is perfect.
I replace the speakers in my 05 lancer and these are way better then the stock ones
Pros: The sound quality and the price
Cons: Don't have any
I replaced the factory speakers in the front door of my 02 WRX as they had blown out. This speaker was super cheap and sounds better than the previous speakers.
Pros: Loud, good range Cheap
Cons: Slight distortion between lows and highs. The bass sort of washes out the treble at times. I mitigate this with my radio settings.
Great sounding speakers for the money. And as always geat customer service from Crutchfield!
Great sound for the price. Fit perfectly in my application, a 2000 Civic sedan, front doors.
Pros: Size, sound, and install wires for my make and model at no charge.
Cons: None yet.
I installed these in a 07 Civic, the door speakers were blown. These speakers sound great for the money.
Pros: Clean sound, price
Cons: A little top heavy, but clear sound.
Replaced my old dry rotted truck speakers. These little speakers sound great. Much better than the factory speakers ever did. Plenty of sensitivity to sound good with low powered factory units. Yet can handle the power of aftermarket systems as well.
Pros: Sensitive and sounds great. Highs are very crisp and clear
Cons: Very very little bass
Speakers are slightly better than stock. If you're adding a sub with 300 rms or more I'd go with some better ones. Overall happy for the price but will probably upgrade in the future.
Pros: Just ok.
Cons: Just ok.
Good OEM replacement. Clear highs and mids, decent bass. Overall a great value, although I wanted more so I've already replaced them with components.
Pros: Value Clarity
Cons: Low end
Online help was great. They sent me all the additional accessories to instal . I did not need mounting brackets for the rear doors, but had them anyway . Sound quality is soooooo much better than th e stock speakers I took out. Great service from staff!
Pros: Good sound
Cons: Install instructions not all correct for rear speakers
Great deal for the price. Installed an aftermarket radio that made the factory speaker crackle at higher volumes. Crackle went a way after installing the Kenwoods. Very satisfied with the price and the product
Pros: Great speakers for the price. Better than factory speakers in this case
Cons: Mounting screws were a little suspect. Use nuts and bolts to secure to the mounting bracket
Fantastic speakers. Have installed these in other vehicles and came back for more. Great speaker at any cost and these are very reasonable. These replaced all (4) infinity speakers that failed. No need to buy the infinity replacements from the factory...these are a quick and easy install once you figure out what goes where. No instructions and no harness available. I drilled and zip tied the infinity amps to the inside of the front door panels and everything works great. You have to use the factory amps for the rears to work--especially the drivers rear door. I cut and spliced wires only to find that i didn't need to cut and splice wires--good learning experience. Many hours later after re-doing what i had undone, and it's fantastic!
Pros: Sound great
Cons: no harness and no instructions.
Decent sound for $40 speakers. Not a lot of bass.
Pros: Cheap price. Sound better than stock.
Cons: Not enough low range bass.
decent speakers for the money but not much bass sound
Sounds as good or better than the stock speakers that they replaced.
Pros: Good advice on selection from Crutchfield, every thing needed to complete install was included.
Cons: Instructions could have been more detailed on exactly what tabs to remove from speaker adapter, one of the electrical connectors was difficult to connect to the speaker while pushing it on it bent one of the tabs on the speaker, but due to my outstanding ability to correct manufactures lack of quality control the problem was corrected.
Good sound for the price. Can't go wrong here!
Great speakers overall. Not too much bass but they sound great in my opinion.
Pros: Great price, sound great, easy install
These replaced the factory front door speakers in an '07 Toyota Corolla. Coupled them with a KDC-158U - Kenwood Single DIN In-Dash CD/MP3 Stereo Receiver with USB Interface and Kenwood KFC-6965S 6 x 9 Inches 3-Way rear speakers. The 6 x 9's are as expected. Moderate bass and clean mids. The head unit is excellent. The front 6.5's are much better than expected. I did do my best to seal up the door and made sure they have a good seal, but they are completely exceeding my expectations. Solid low end and very clean throughout the spectrum. Not trying to compare to JL's or anything but for $40.00 they can't be beat. I've installed a lot of equipment both personally and professionally. This was for my wife's car because I couldn't even stand to have the radio on when I was in it. The stock system leaves a lot to be desired. I also added a 8" Rockford sub in a custom built and tuned ported box. Running that on 150 watts and now I actually enjoy driving her car. Everything is crisp and clear well beyond any comfortable listening level. Had the old stuff out and the new stuff installed and tweaked in less than 3 hours including running all wiring for sub/amp in trunk.
Pros: Value, Quality construction, buying from Crutchfield and getting the adapters and wiring harnesses to make installation a breeze.
Cons: The stamped and formed sheet metal nuts that come with the Metra speaker adapters are a bit questionable. They tightened up and felt secure but being inside a door where I can't get to them to see if they stay tight I opted to use my own nylon locking stainless nuts.
Had two blown stock speakers in a '03 BMW 325i and didn't want to break the bank so these were the best bet. Huge improvement but remember my stock speakers were torn. Drop in replacements with included brackets. Great sound for the money!
Pros: Good sound for the money
Cons: Little bass
First, it's important to understand, these are entry level aftermarket speakers. Don't expect ultra-premium quality. That being said, these speakers are very good for the price. They are on par with cars that come with good (premium?) stereos from the factory. If you already like the way your factory stereo sounds, these probably aren't going to be a significant upgrade. But if you have obviously poor-quality speakers or your speakers are damaged or blown, these make great replacements. I put 4 of these in my Saturn Vue (which had a terrible factory stereo system) along with a Kenwood stereo (KDC-X599) and they sound great. I did have to turn up the bass and down the treble, but I'm very pleased with the results.
Pros: Inexpensive. Sound on par with a quality factory system No install problems.
Cons: These are entry level speakers. They are very good for the price, but don't expect audiophile sound quality.
2002 GMC SIERRA crew cab. easy to install and sound good for a cheap price. The rear speaker adapter didnt work but these speakers worked with the factory mount with some finagling
Pros: cheap & sounds better than blown factory speakers
Cons: rear speaker mount was not compatible with crew cab but you can cram the the new one into the old mount with a little work
These speakers are exactly what I was looking for. They are an inexpensive way to have upgraded my factory speakers on a budget. They sound great and are durably built. I suggest for a still better sound to enclose the speakers in a foam surrounding that encloses the speakers and improves their performance. I found this speaker enclosures at another retailer.
I bought these speakers to replace the OEM woofers in the two-way door speakers in my 2001 Silverado 1500. Crutchfield offered the mounting and wiring harness adapters for free so I ordered them. Most of the ratings were favorable so I took a chance. The next day on my way to work it was immediately apparent that I had made a mistake. Within a few minutes I was trying to adjust out the harshness and brightness of these speakers and their lack of bass. It was not possible to make these speakers sound satisfactory with the settings available on my OEM radio. Crutchfield technical support was very helpful and reminded me of their 60-day guarantee. I like the sound of the OEM woofers but I had three out of four replacements from a different online retailer develop open voice coils. I am hesitant to buy any more of the garbage Delco OEM speakers from Mexico. I may try an upgraded replacement from Crutchfield. It is just such a hassle to replace these things.
Cons: Harsh and fatiguing sound.
The speakers were very easy to install and the sound is great. It was good to have everything to come with the order to install.
I didn't think much about these speakers until I hooked them up. The sound is so crisp and pure, I couldn't believe my ears. So, I compared them side by side with a more expensive pair that I have purchased for the front to make sure that I wasn't dreaming... and I was blown away so much so that I put them in the front and the over priced ones in the back where they now belong. My advice to you non believers: Buy them now, thank me later.
Pros: Great speaker, good bass, crisp and composed sound.
Cons: None but I'd like to point out to those who keep complaining about the lack of bass that these are not sub woofers. The amount of bass that they deliver is adequate, they were not meant rattle your door but to give you crisp and well balanced sound.
Lost some volume compared to my factory speakers. Speakers sound good though.
Pros: Good sound.
Cons: Not as loud.
Great speakers for the price, upgraded from stock and they sound great.
Cons: Not much bass
Extremely easy installation with the free vehicle specific brackets that were included. The speakers sound amazing for how inexpensive they are and free two shipping, can't beat that.
very good upgrade from stock, excellent sound.
Worked like a charm. The factory 6.5's went bad and I replaced them with these. They're loud and clear sounding. For the price, it's hard to have a bad thing to say about them. The bracket that Crutchfield sent me worked like a charm with only small modifications.
Pros: Loud, Clear, CHEAP
Cons: Not a ton of bass.
I had a front speaker in my 2007 Acura MDX blow out and these speakers are a great replacement. They fit just fine in the front door speaker wells and the Crutchfield installation kit worked great.
Pros: Much better that the OEM speakers. Easy fit. Inexpensive.
Cons: None that I can think of.
Great price for the improved sound
nice speakers and easy install, sounds tons better then the stock speakers
These great replacement speakers are easy to install and look great.
These are coaxial speakers. They sound good at low & high volume levels. I don't know the impedance, but sound balance is about right between these and the OEM tweeters in my 2004 Colorado. I hope they last a lot longer than the originals.
My first aftermarket speakers
Pros: Perfect replacement for the stock door speakers. I've heard some speakers stick too far back for the window or internal door parts, but these installed perfectly.
Cons: None that I can tell. Maybe a bit weak on the bass.
Fit nice in my 93 Honda coupe. Great upgrade from stock speakers. Had to midis the front a little but furs nice behind the door panel. Rear was no problem at all.
These speakers were a nice upgrade from the original speakers of my 2006 Honda Accord. Crutchfield's speaker and wiring adapters make the install very easy. My only "complaint" is that the Crutchfield instructions do not mention the need to disconnect the electrical connections (window and door locks) to allow access to the front speakers.
Crutchfield continues to be my "go-to" seller for home and car audio.
Pros: Speakers are definite upgrade from the factory originals.
Cons: A minor downgrade for the lack of mention of the electrical (dis-)connections (windows and door locks) on the 2006 Honda Accord in accessing the front door speakers.
Great sounding speakers
Pros: Easy to install
Cons: None so far
Great speaker for the money. Installation was a breeze.
Nice speakers for the money
great speaker, easy to install in my 03 buick lesabre. great sound, and very clear.
Pretty good speakers for the price, you are getting what you are paying for.
Pros: Solid sound
Cons: Poor bass
Great economy speakers for front and rears.
Pros: Great price for brand name.
Cons: Won't fit into original speaker holes and needs brackets. Needs adapters for electrical connections.
These speakers sound decent. I gave them a 4 because of the cost in the outlet and have nice features, but don't expect huge, amazing sound. You do get what you pay for. They are a good, low cost upgrade over the stock full range speakers in my teen driver's Jeep Liberty. We replaced the stock speakers and head unit and for a total investment of $200 bucks it is a very nice upgrade. If I were doing it over, I'd probably spend an extra $50 bucks total and get the Kicker or Polk speakers as I think I would have liked the performance a little better.
These speakers really don't produce any bass. You can get some with the loudness and "super bass" settings engaged on the new receiver, but with more than 1/3 volume you start getting distortion from the speakers. They have a very small magnet structure...I think they are actually lighter than the stock speakers. They work best when being gentle with the bass settings. The mids and highs are actually quite smooth and sound much better than the stock speakers. I like the clarity of the sound compared to stock full range. For improved sound on a budget over stock, I would recommend them.
Pros: Price, price, price. Fit well, look nice, smooth mids and highs, much better than stock full range factory speakers. A good value.
Cons: Limited bass, prone to distortion if you "crank them up" with bass settings in the "plus" range.
So I got these speaker's to replace the worn out rotten speaker's in my daughters 01 Beetle. They sound rather well in the car. They s little short on low frequencies but they are not designed to reproduce them.
Pros: Great sounding Great fit Great build quality.
Cons: None to report
Vast improvement over stock.
easy to install, a great replacement upgrade for the blown out speaker in my wife's 2007 subaru forester. I replaced the front door speakers only.
Pros: Excellent instructions and final product has better sound quality that the original speakers. Install took a little over 1.5 hours.
Cons: Drilling new holes in the door was not as straightforward as I would have hoped. be sure to have a sharp drill bit!
I bought these as a replacement for the tired factory speakers in my 2004 Honda Element. They sound great and install with minimal effort. The instructions said that I would need to cut the speaker cover and back-panel but thankfully, I was able to install them without having to do anything except for the drilling of new holes. They are a great choice if you want better sound but don't want to spend too much money.
Pros: Easy installation and economical
Cons: Limited sound depth
Replacement for super expensive factory speaker. Sounds good for the price I paid.
Pros: Name and price
...even with low expectation I was disappointed. Bought these to replace disintegrated stock speakers in my 2005 2500 crew. Wasn't expecting much but was hoping for at least better sound than the blown speakers. to be honest it wasn't much better. about as much bass as the old speakers that had no surrounds left! in the defense of the speakers, im still using the stock deck (big part of the problem I hope) and the speakers were cheap! ordered a new deck and am hoping for the best.
Cons: Cheap!Crutchfield response on June 16, 2015 It's not uncommon for people to report hearing less bass with new speakers. Factory speakers are often made of cheap, flimsy materials. When you replace that with a better quality speaker, it'll need a little more power than the cheap one did to produce the same amount of bass. Adding a new deck should help, and the bass (and all of the music, for that matter) that you do hear will be cleaner and more detailed.
These made great replacement speakers for the rears in my 2002 Blazer, in the sense that they sound pretty much like the old ones. No improvement, except these work and sound fine. However, the mounting adapter simply did not fit the vehicle, nor did the the speakers -although I was able to get three of the four mounting holes close enough to make it work. This was somewhat disappointing as the mounting hardware is the reason I order from Crutchfield in the first place, but they are in and working,so I'm pretty happy.
Pros: Inexpensive, decent sound
Cons: Didn't fit properly
Very good sound
Pros: Very easy to install
Fit right in to existing speaker mounting holes. Sound great.
Pros: Good fitment. Sound great.
Cons: None that I can think of.
Full range of sound. Handles bass very well.
Pros: Highs, mids, and lows.
These speakers might be OK if you have a factory radio and failed door speakers. Not as an upgrade. Certainly not as part of a great stereo setup. 99 Jeep GK w/infinity, OEM whizzer cone speaker "full range"/one driver have a much flatter and frequency response, deeper usable bass, more high end. Seems impossible, but true. I did extensive testing with clean sign wave signals and an SPL meter, but they failed the music test first, and very obvious. So the claimed frequency response of 35 - 22k Hz is bunk in the real world. I'm sure there is some sound coming out at the low and high end, but it's tapered off-scale. I fell for Crutchfield's claim that old speakers are bad speakers. Upon removal, I discovered the infinities have no parts that should deteriorate from normal usage or environment. They are like the old 1960's speakers that never fail, unless blown out. No foam, no rubber, no plastic. I never had a negative thing to say about Crutchfield, but take the old speaker thing with a grain of salt. I am not turned off to Crutchfield. FWIW: The box says JVC/Kenwood, so expect JVC quality now. Buy something better. Blaupunct, Sony, JBL, etc., avoid foam surround if you want them to last. Returning and keeping the OEMs. Not worth tearing the doors apart again to install something better, unless OEMs eventually fail.
Pros: Fit the hole Not foam surround Bling if you surface mount, but they all are nowdays 2 way does not block the woof like a 3 way does, blocking less bass in theory, but in practice there is nothing to block. Clear sound Perfect Yugo upgrade or gift for a bad mother-in-law
Cons: weak low end weak high end in my application, not worth the installation effort if they were free old OEM speakers sound better in all aspects 6 year old 5-1/2" sony xplods sound better in all aspects ($20 local retailer special) in my '90 Range Rover with Sony Xplod receiver (Crutchfield)
order the speaker, used them on a trip to Fl. love them.
for the price they are a good deal, easy to install only took an hour
Pros: not bad for the price
Bought the "Scratch & Dent" set, saving me an additional $10. The only "damage" I could see was that the corners of the packaging were slightly dented. The styrofoam inner packaging was just fine and there was NO damage to the speakers whatsoever. I will definitely try the "Scratch & Dent" the next time I order. About the speakers: For less the price and shipped to my door, these can't be beat. I was a bit concerned that they'd be more in line with what you'd find at discount department stores (such as the place with Wal* in its name...), but they seem to outperform anything you'd find there. You have to realize that you're buying an entry level speaker, but adding these to my factory GM AM-FM-CD in a 2001 Silverado vastly improved the dull noise that used to come from the doors. Speakers sound crisp and not "tinny" at all. Not a lot of bass, but it was not to be expected from a 6 1/2" speaker. (You want good bass, buy a good woofer or sub.) These speakers do just what they were meant to do, don't break the bank, and sound good. ***As an added plus, the installation bracket, wire adapters, and install notes made installation a snap! Took longer to dig out the tools than to put them in. (If you find yourself some shorter screws, you won't need to drill anything).
Pros: Good treble and mid range Easy installation with included Crutchfield kit Good quality Low price, especially the "Scratch & Dent" (highly recommended!) "Scratch & Dent" carries FULL warranty
Cons: None yet!
they are good for the price. great factory replacement. easy to install and look great
Pros: look good, easy to install, sound good for price
Cons: cant push them to high
I knew as soon as I took them out of the box they were not going to be an improvement over the factory speakers and I was right. They were cheaply made with a small magnet. The sound was similar to what you would find on an old transistor radio. They also did not fit as per the website. The holes were slightly off and the only way I could put the screws into the bracket is to angle them in, thus damaging the factory bracket. Spend a little more and get some better speakers to make it worth your time to take the door apart.
Pros: Good service and fast shipping from Crutchfield in returning them.
Cons: Cheap, tinny sound. Only good for replacing a dead or blown speaker because I'm sure they would be cheaper than a factory replacement.
The speakers sound better than the factory original on my Subaru Forester, but nothing exceptional, but I was not expecting too much with the price I paid. Good bet for the money
Pros: Cheap, clear
Cons: Not very good at very high volumes
Great speakers sound is clear
Good sounding speakers for a good price and easy to install! In my 2007 CRV.
I finally replaced the factory speakers on my 2002 Silverado and the sound quality improvement is very noticeable. This truck is my second vehicle and I only use it occasionally so I didn't want to spend a lot of money and these Kenwood speakers are just perfect.
Pros: Crisp and clear sound, strong bass. Low price.
Does the job and works well, but do not expect an earth shattering difference especially if your factory speakers are not completely blown.
Pros: Highs and Mids are very clear and speakers can get loud without distortion or amp.
Cons: Base is ok, but to be expected.
Replaced my kids 2000 Altima OEM speakers with these and they sound great for the remarkable price I got as part of the component package from Crutchfield.
Pros: Price Direct fit into OEM locations. Paired great with the Kenwood KDC-X799 I installed.
Kenwood quality on a budget
Pros: price, good upgrade to stock
Cons: highs not a strong
Great sound quality
Pros: Easy to install
Yes,on a 08 Smart car you install from the outside. These speakers using your adapter plates where a perfect fit. There are 4 plastic pins that must be removed that hold the factory speakers. With the instructions provided the install was a snap.
Pros: Everything fit and better sound quality.
Cons: Take 5 and line up the factory speakers to the mounting plates that will tell you which holes to use and then mount the Kenwoods, remove the the 4 pins on the inside of the door panel and install. Not really a con just a heads up.
This don't produce good low end. A sub is a must to even get decent flat response sound.
Pros: Cheap, good treble.
Cons: Weak , small and coney sounding.
Crystal clear highs and mids. Can't beat it for the money. Nice replacement for my factory speakers and with the mounting adapters and wire adapters, couldn't of been easier to install!
Pros: Price, sound, easy to install
Huge improvement over the paper cones I had to drill out. Great value and sound good! Thanks Crutchfield!
Pros: Good materials, sound clean.
Cons: May not be a con, but these speakers feel light compared to Kickers I bought for the rear deck.
The speakers sound awesome. I have it on a 4 channel JL amp which makes it sounds even better. They also look really good.
Pros: Sound quality is great. N they fit how they should.
Cons: None. You get what you pay for.
