So, you're finally ready to do something about your ragged factory speakers. The beauty of Kenwood's Sport Series speakers is that you can seriously improve your sound without breaking the bank.

Sweet sound

The KFC-1665S 6-1/2" 2-way speakers feature polypropylene cones that will enrich your music with all the midbass and midrange details, while the 1" balanced-dome tweeters will make high notes soar. Kenwood also includes sharp-looking grilles in case you're doing a custom installation in your vehicle. Finally, you can enjoy your music the way it was meant to be heard, with clarity and emotion.

  • 6-1/2" 2-way speakers (pair)
  • polypropylene woofer with treated cloth suround
  • 1" balanced dome tweeter
  • grilles included
  • power range: 2-30 watts RMS (300 watts peak power)

  • frequency response: 35-22,000 Hz
  • sensitivity: 92 dB
  • top-mount depth: 1-11/16"

Why replace your car's original speakers?

The speakers that originally came in your car were made from inexpensive materials, designed to create acceptable sound at the lowest possible cost to the manufacturer. If you love music, you deserve better. Name-brand aftermarket speakers deliver fuller, richer sound with considerably more detail and nuance, and they're capable of playing louder and cleaner than factory speakers. Connect new speakers to your factory radio and you'll get the best possible sound from your dealer-equipped system. Pair them up with a new car stereo for a level of enjoyment that can rival a high-fidelity home audio experience.

Tweeters: Each speaker has a 1" PEI balanced dome tweeter. A semi-dome tweeter has a dome placed inside a cone. Balanced dome tweeters are semi-dome tweeters with equal reproduction area given the cone and dome portions of the tweeter. PEI (Poly-Ether-Imide) is a polymer film that produces a wide soundstage for superior imaging.

Mounting: The speaker basket has multiple mounting holes and is designed to fit a standard 3-hole 6-1/2" application, Ford's 4-hole 6-1/2" application, and a standard 4-hole 6-3/4" application. (When mounting in a 6-3/4" application, use a speaker baffle to seal the inner ring of screw holes.)

The speakers installed in the Mid doors of my 2000 Toyota Sienna but they dont have as much bass as I expected. Perhaps when I install my new Kenwood radio , they will sound better.

overall improvement from factory

Written By cchambers, Georgia on Tuesday, April 14, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The mid-range and treble are a notable improvement over the factory speakers in my 2006 Civic, but the bass is no better. Judging by the specs (frequency response & efficiency) I expected better bass even when running off the stock stereo's power, but the price still makes it worth it. Had it not been so inexpensive I would have give less stars. Still great bang for the buck.

Pros: low profile, cheap replacement for oem speakers. Mids and highs sounds modestly better than stock speakers.

Cons: No improvement in bass over stock speakers.

Ok, but not exceptional

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased these Kenwood speakers to replace the factory ones in a 2007 Chevy Impala. I replaced the drivers door speaker before with ones from a junkyard because GM has the door chime "play" through that speaker. I puchased these Kenwood speakers and they are OK. I think the factory ones, as cheap as they were, sounded better. These speakes sound like a cheap pair of headphones IMO. In reality, I am not dissapointed due to the price that I paid, I never expected them to sound like a more expensive speaker.

Pros: Price, Crutchfield free accessory items which lead to easy installation, Quick shipping

Cons: Sound cheap

Nice replacement to worn out OEM speakers

These speakers, with the adapter kit that came with them from Crutchfield, fit perfectly in my daughter's 2001 bug. The instructions were excellent and easy to follow, The job did take a little longer than anticipated, but that is probably because I am a rookie with installing car speakers ;)

Pros: Sound quality for price, installation clarity

Cons: None

Great item at a grest price. Purchased these speakers to replace factory speakers in a 90 f150. I couldn't be happier with the sound. Plenty of bass and very clear overall with a pretty basic off brand tuner.

Pros: Clarity, price and ease of installation

Cons: None

Very easy to install in my Honda Element (even though the instructions weren't exactly correct). Sounds much better than the busted factory speakers--Will continue to replace other speakers in the car over time--I expect that I will be able to tell a huge difference in sound quality as more are replaced.

Pros: Simple install, great price, comes with accessories

Had to buy these for now. Went all out on the radio so I had to hold out on the speakers. So far so good. No distortion but no base either. They should work fine once I hook up a sub.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased these speakers to replace the original front speakers in my truck which were blown when I blown when I bought the truck. Because I don't normally drive this vehicle that much I was getting by with just rear speakers. I have a long trip coming up this week and the thought of an 8-hour drive with half a sound system just does not sit well with me. Yet, I did not want to invest a ton of money. So... Crutchfield to the rescue: 10 minutes on-line to find an acceptable brand name product, $40 out of my wallet, and half an hour to install them when the arrived just two days later. Now I am ready for my trip. As always, Crutchfield supplies great instructions, pre-wired adapters and the proper mounting brackets.

So how do the sound? Fine. Not great, but fine... which is better than an $40 of speakers ought to sound. That is why the get 4 stars from me. However, when it comes to value, that would be a 5-star rating.

Pros: Brand name and a bargain price. Usual Crutchfield ease of installation.

Cons: Considering the price, no cons. There are obviously better sounding speakers available.

Nice, inexpensive speakers

Written By Brian, Manhattan, KS on Saturday, April 04, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Nice, inexpensive speakers. These were used in the front door of my 2004 Silverado 2500HD crew-cab. The stock speakers were shot. The "fits with bracket" disclaimer wasn't really accurate for me. To be clear, I expected the provided bracket and hardware to allow installation with maybe a few holes drilled...not the case. It just wasn't going to work without trimming some sheetmetal, or getting my own hardware. I decided to use the stock brackets. I just popped the stock speakers off (they're glued on), tore the fabric covering off, and screwed the new speakers to the brackets. I used the enclosed fasteners...even though they stuck out a bit on the front side...not clearance issues, and you can't see them behind the door panel. To get them back in the door I tweeked the upper metal lip in the door out some with pliers. The speakers installed nice and tight, so no worries there.

The speakers have better sound than stock (I's been several years since they were not shot), and the price is hard to argue with. I'm happy with them, and glad the brackets were free.

Pros: price

Cons: brackets for this application leave a lot to be desired

No complaints

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I ordered a Kenwood DPX791BH in-dash receiver to install in my 2010 Colorado Ext Cab. Crutchfield had a special where if you also bought two sets of Kenwood speakers, they knocked off $50. I ordered the Kenwood KFC-P709PS for my front doors and then the Kenwood KFC-1665S for the rear doors. I did not intend to replace the OEM speakers in the rear doors since you don't hear much of them from the drivers seat. But the special enabled me to replace the rear door OEM speakers at virtually no cost. Installation was straight forward and I used the Crutchfield supplied Scosche SAC-656 Speaker Mounting Brackets. I did need to drill three holes in order to mount the speakers.

Pros: Installation was straight forward. The price was right.

Cons: None

Good replacement speaker

Written By JRo, Washington on Sunday, March 29, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very good replacement speakers.

Pros: These were one of the few replacement speakers available to fit my 2008 Honda CR-V LX because of the narrow space available inside the doors. They sound better than the factory speakers, especially in the mid- to high-range. They are a excellent value for the price for someone who wants an economical car speaker upgrade in a vehicle like the the Honda CRV-LX, which is the base model of the CR-V line, which comes with basic small magnet, single cone factory speakers.

Cons: The bass-range is a little weak when compared the the mid- and high-range. Boosting the bass with the equalizer helps but I suppose if you want great bass without buying a very expensive subwoofer then you would probably have to buy a component speaker system, which still might cost several times as much as these speakers.

I have an 04 Jeep Grand Cherokee, I bought these to replace the 4 factory Infinity door speakers in my Jeep because the factory speakers were not working. After I installed them the sound was great. I have a Kenwood unit. The speakers are running throught the factory amp. I do not have a sub woofer, I choose not to, and the sound is perfect for me.

Pros: Great sound, nice highs, mids and lows.

Cons: None

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The speakers are definitely better then I expected but I should have known this they are Kenwoods. Great high's and mid's the bass is there but if you really want bass bass a sub and amp Is what you need. Overall pretty impressed and as for the Crutchfield team I am very impressed. One of my speakers was making a crackling sound, so I called and before I could say to much a new set was on its way. A+++++ on customer service with these guys they have a customer for life. Sure I could have got these a little cheaper somewhere else but after the wire harnesses and speaker plates I got for free with my order I actually saved money. And again with the customer service, a piece of mind is priceless. Thanks again Crutchfield.

Cons: Doesn't fit in my car with adapter as mentioned in the installation details that comes up.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Put these in the front and back of my wife's 4dr lb yaris. They're just like every other bottom of the line kenwood speaker I've installed, which is a lot over the years. Paired with a kenwood deck they get loud, less bass than stock, better mids and highs, kinda bright.

Pros: High sensitivity, they get louder than any other cheap speaker I've heard without needing an external amp.

Cons: Bass sucks, but doesn't really matter if you're adding a sub. I knew this would be the case and I paired it with a polk 8" sub.

2013 GMC Sierra Extended Cab

Written By Justin R., Barre, Ma on Tuesday, March 10, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I replaced my factory door speaker with these Kenwoods. I took my time, installed some dynamat around the speaker area of each door. The front doors came with the replacement brackets, which were decent and did the job. The rears, in order to make these or any other aftermarket speaker fit, you have to be crafty. But that's why we have online tutorials. After the installation, I was surprised at the difference in sound. They sounded great. No, they're not super high end 6.5's but for the money, a pretty good deal. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of sound coming from them. You're not going to get tons of bass, but you'll get a good, full sound. Definitely recommend them.

Pros: Price, value, mounting holes, overall quality

Cons: Nope
