Overview

Our take on the Kenwood KFC-1695PS

6.5" 3-way speakers

The performers

Kenwood's Performance Series speakers employ a multi-driver design to give you articulate lows, clean vocals, and startling highs. Kenwood has incorporated the latest technology into these speakers, so you'll get the biggest sonic bang for your buck.

A whole new speaker

The KFC-1695PS 6-1/2" 3-way speakers feature a water-resistant paper cone with a new radial rib pattern, which increases speaker strength and delivers more responsive bass. The addition of a rubber surround ensures a new level of overall durability, so you'll be enjoying that fresh-from-the-box sound for years.

All the musical details are handled by the 1-3/16" tweeter and 1/2" supertweeter. Kenwood engineered a smoother listening experience with the Acoustic Sound Harmonizer, which uses slots on the mount which houses the tweeter and supertweeter to improve the progression into the higher frequencies. Grilles are included for custom installations.

Pretty solid speakers. I used these 3-ways for my front and they sound sweet

Pros: Fit well into previous housing and sound good

Cons: Can't handle too much bass, but I guess that's why you get a sub

Very Poor

Written by: Mike from Paducah, KY on January 25, 2016

These speakers are on a similar level to stock speakers. These are a stock replacement at best. Put them in my Jeep due to the existing speakers being blown. They were a gift but, I must say they sound pretty awful. Rewired them thinking there could be a wiring issue in the car and they still sound pretty awful. Pushing them with a high end Alpine head unit with a power pack. These speakers are just poor quality... They have a paper cone and distort at very low sound levels. For the price you can get some decent Alpine or JL speakers for a few more dollars. Would never suggest Kenwood speakers to anyone after this pathetic sounding pair.

Pros: Fit true to size

Cons: Pretty much everything. The sound quality is horrible. In fact, the stock 16 year old speakers in the back sound better.

Replacements for blown speaker in my truck. They are a decent replacement set, I wasn't looking for top performance.

Pros: Decent sound. Easy installation.

Cons:

Cheap Speaker

Written by: Michael from Tennessee on September 25, 2015

These are just a stock replacement speaker at best. I have a 2000 Jeep Cherokee that had blown speakers in the front that I replaced with these. I have a nice Alpine Head Unit powering them and they sound pretty awful. I ran brand new speaker wire to them and they just unfortunately have a very bland sound. Not worth the money at all. I was not expecting much out of these cheaper speakers but, they are pretty basic.

Pros: None.

Cons: Sound rivals that of 20 year old stock Jeep speakers.

Kenwood definitely delivered with these speakers. I put them in my 1994 Toyota Camry, along with 2 12" kicker subwoofers. I needed something that I could hear over my subwoofers but wasn't too pricy, and I found it. The sounds is great and very crisp, and pack a bit of a punch along with it.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great speakers greatly improved the sound above the stock speaker in my 2002 Camry. I added hush matting along with these speakers and together the internal sound is fantastic. I don't go base heavy so can't speak on that but I'm really satisfied by sound and quality of these speakers. I also bought the speaker installation card and had no additional expense and knew how much I was going to pay.

Pros: Quality of speakers, price after instant rebate turned out to be a bit less(can't beat that), great value.

These might be better if an amp was in front of them driving them. I have them connected to a 4 year old Kenwood in an 02 Silverado 2500HD Crew Cab that I have all the treble and mid pulled out and seem to be still to much in the way of mid's and highs. As stated els where, they might be more suited with a sub to balance out the sound all driven with amps.

Put them in the back, and they perform really well. Good bass, good treble. Clear sound, even when cranked. I did a lot of reading up on speakers before purchasing these. Many are lacking in bass. These Kenwoods have a good mid-range bass sound. If you want better bass, may as well go to composite speakers. Very pleased with this product.

Pros: Good bass, good sound quality

Cons: None, really.

I bought two pairs of these speakers on sale to replace the crummy ones (OE) on my 2008 Chevy Silverado, both in the front doors and the rear passenger doors of my crew cab. Installation was a breeze with the included brackets and connectors! They sound great - they're Kenwoods, for goodness sake! The only problem is, now I need to replace the crummy OE stereo to really drive these bad boys!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My BMW needed to sound just as beautiful as she looks. I searched for days to find the perfect speakers to really make my car great. Once I found these, I knew that I wouldn't be let down. The speakers are phenomenal! They are so crisp, extremely easy to install, and the price was the cherry on top. After a day of installing and checking, finally the final sound test was at hand. Bohemian Rhapsody was obviously the first song I would play, and let me tell you, with this speakers it sounded like they were right there. If you're looking for great affordable speakers, you just found them.

Pros: Price. Installation. Sound quality.

2003 Chevrolet Blazer
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I recently swapped vehicles with my wife and she got our 2012 Kia Optima and I got her 2003 Blazer :-( I really like the stock system in that car and the built in Bluetooth. I'm not in a position to take on another car payment so I figured I could at least upgrade the sound system in the Blazer. I ordered these speakers for front doors and a media player with Bluetooth capability. Today I installed the speakers but I have not gotten around to changing out the stock radio yet. As soon as I got them installed and powered on the radio, I was blown away. These are so much better than the stock speakers. Very crisp highs and very defined bass. I didn't realize just how bad the stock speakers were. I think they were a great value for the price. This was my first experience installing car speakers and I could not be happier with the instructions and Master Sheets provided. I am somewhat handy and have decent tools. For this application I was required to drill out the rivets from the stock speaker brackets but otherwise it seemed very straightforward. I took about 40 minutes to install the 1st speaker and about 20 for the 2nd. I can't wait to install my new Stereo later this week and see if there is a further improvement in the sound. I will definitely be replacing the rear door speakers in the near future.

Pros: Great Clarity Crisp Highs Defined Bass Easy to Install Excellent Instructions from Crutchfield

Sounds great in the back doors teamed with Kenwood Excelon KDC-X597 and another pair of Kenwood 6x9 4 ways in the front doors of a Dodge Quad Cab. You will have to remove door panels and using the pattern cut with a skill saw, drill a couple holes and use longer screws...but it is fairly easy, just take your time.

Pretty much means 3 speakers in one, you have the 6 1/2 inch speaker with two tweeters on top. Good for mid and high sound but i wouldn't put too much bass to them without a crossover Though. no an amp is not required, there are only two connection wires like normal. [ Trever  Mar 10, 2015 ]
As Ross pointed out there is no need for any additional processing before sending the signal to the speaker - there is a built-in crossover that handles the 'splitting up' of the sound spectrum. [ Scott  Mar 10, 2015 ]
No, three way speakers means that each speaker has a tweater, mid range, and a woofer. No need for an amp of any sort. Unless you want one. [ Ross  Mar 10, 2015 ]
Hi Mark, I bought the speakers for my husband, so I asked him your question. He said, " Yes, they will improve the factory sound system especially at high volumes, but don't expect Bose." I think he is referring to the fact I did not pay for a Bose system. So there you go. Good Luck. [ Miriam  Sep 09, 2014 ]
Sorry, I replaced all my speakers when I purchased the vehicle. I don't know what factory speakers sounded like cause some were blown. I listen mostly to talk which is good enough. Music sounds ok, but you can't crank. [ Kevin  Sep 08, 2014 ]
No speaker will substantially improve your sound quality without an amplifier, the amplifier is what improves the sound quality. New speakers may sound a bit better but not much of a noticeable difference. I would invest In a decent amp and set of speakers also if your looking for great sound quality than get a 4 channel amp for the 4 interior door speakers and a2 channel amp for 2 decent bass' . [ MITESH  Sep 08, 2014 ]
Actually yes. I love these speakers. [ TYLER  Apr 20, 2014 ]
