Kenwood's KFC-6965S 6"x9" speakers are designed to increase your car's sound quality without decreasing your bank roll. Install these budget-friendly speakers in place of your factory 6"x9" speakers, and their 3-way design will open a wide soundstage for all your tunes. Their high efficiency also lets them work effortlessly with your stock or aftermarket radio power. With 45 watts of RMS power handling, you can even add an amp for a bigger sound.
Kenwood uses a durable polypropylene woofer with a treated cloth surround, so the KFC-6965S speaker keeps pumping out the bass even through the harsh conditions in a car. Add a 2" PEI cone tweeter and a 1/2" ceramic supertweeter to the mix, and you'll get a smooth transition between your music's highs and lows. Grilles are included, so you can also use these speakers in a custom installation.
The speakers that originally came in your car were made from inexpensive materials, designed to create acceptable sound at the lowest possible cost to the manufacturer. If you love music, you deserve better. Name-brand aftermarket speakers deliver fuller, richer sound with considerably more detail and nuance, and they're capable of playing louder and cleaner than factory speakers. Connect new speakers to your factory radio and you'll get the best possible sound from your dealer-equipped system. Pair them up with a new car stereo for a level of enjoyment that can rival a high-fidelity home audio experience.
Great three way speakers on tech recommendation
easy install with guide
did not need dash speaker replacement on 2011 xterra
Pros: easy install sound - perfect positive experience quick delivery excellent communication
Very pleased with this purchase. The sound quality is awesome. I installed the speakers in boxes and placed under my rear seats, and it sounds great. Highly recommend this product.
These speakers seem to work fine with the stock radio.
Pros: Changing them out was easy and the adapting harness supplied by Crutchfield was good attention to detail.
Cons: The car's rear speaker grills would not go back on over these without some trimming on the oval with the foam on the underside
Installed as replacement speakers for the factory set in the rear. They proved to be an excellent choice. Great rich bass and sound overall.
They sound great a perfect low cost factory upgrade.
I recently purchased these speakers for my 2011 Grand Cherokee. I am not happy with the sound quality. I think that they honestly are worse than stock. They seem to hit the highs very well, but when there are a lot of sounds going on, they seem to miss some of them. I think that my stock speakers sounded better than these ones do.
Great sounding speaker for the price. Had to replace the old OEM Speakers in a 2002 Honda Accord. Crutchfield made it easy by including the Honda Adapter Terminals. Had Front & Rears replaced within a hour.
Great sound couldn't ask for anything better
Pros: Great fit
The installation in a 49Mercury was easy and the sound was nearly perfect.
Pros: Easy installation and great sound for an old car.
Cons: I had to modify the frame on the front speaker to fit in under the support angle for the radio. Small job and the speaker went in perfect.
Really pack some bass
Pros: Sound great
Fantastic value. I have a pair of these amped at 50W RMS each. Sound is great. Zero distortion and great sound quality. You need to add some power to these for best results.
Pros: When amped they sound fantastic. Easy install.
Cons: Had one DOA and was in the middle of the install. Had my car all ripped apart. Crutchfield sent me a new pair in less than 48 hours. Delivered on a Saturday. That was a lifesaver.
My first aftermarket speakers ever, so consider that shaping my review...
Pros: Installed easy and came with the required adapters. Sound fine
Cons: I think the base is a bit weak with my new Kenwood reciever
I give it a five because of value. I also echo what someone else said, don't let the price fool you. I put a pair in my FJ Cruiser, and the stereo actually sounds good. It isn't my home McIntosh good, but for the price and expectation, these are marvelous.
Pros: Sound Crutchfield kit ease of changing
Cons: None right now
bought these as part of my ongoing crusade to rid my caravan of the Infinity system. have kfc-1365s in the dash & the difference from stock is pretty impressive. can't wait to add the ksc-sw11 sub!!!
Pros: kenwood puts out an excellent, affordable product & crutchfield gets it to me with NO FUSS!
What an upgrade from stock, paper speakers. Full range of sound and good bass and highs.
Pros: Highs, mids, and lows.
Great sounding speakers with much better range than the factory ones. Crutchfield made installation easy with some great Tech support.
Pros: Great sound, great range
Cons: The speaker clips that hold the speakers to the mounts are a bit of a pain to work with.
These things are so clear and so easy for install
Pros: Good sound
Crisp and no distortion!
Pros: worth the upgrade
I purchased these with the Toyota wire harness (also from Crutchfield) to replace the stock 6x9 speakers in my 2004 Corolla. After removing the stock speakers, it probably only took me 30 minutes to get the new speakers installed. I cut out the speaker template included on the back of the new speaker box, crawled into the trunk and placed the template underneath the rear dash, and marked the 4 holes with a permanent marker. I then used a 13/64" drill bit and drilled out the 8 holes (4 for each speaker) and used the stock 10mm bolts from the stock Toyota speakers to secure the new speakers into place. Although I was unable to get all 4 bolts aligned, I made sure that the 2-3 bolts I had securing each speaker were tight enough to keep the speakers from getting lose. I drilled out the holes from underneath (by crawling into the trunk) because I knew I wouldn't be able to get the drill in position with the obstruction of the rear windshield slant. The wire harness made the speaker connections extremely easy, no soldering required. Just "plug and play." Although the sound quality isn't super great, I suspect that it may be because I'm still running the stock Corolla stereo head unit. I'm planning on replacing that head unit soon and I will update this review if the sound improves.
Pros: Easy install, especially if you buy the wire harness for you car.
Cons: Scores included with these speakers for mounting are a complete joke and impossible to use. The instructions also don't specify what size drill bit to use in order to utilize the included flimsy screws. It was just trial and error until I decided to just use the stock hex bolts from my car's stock 6x9s.
Their cheap and sound great what more could you ask for.
Pros: Cheap. Easy to install. Sound great.
Way way better than my 10 year old stock paper speakers.
Pros: Great value and sound. My back seat passengers have better sound than the front. Crutchfield included the speaker harness (no soldering required). It was a snap, literally.
Cons: None really. Depending on your car, getting your old speakers out could be more challenging.
Easy to install. Great sound.
Pros: Crutchfield makes it easy. Perfect fit and sounds better than OEM speakers
Pros: Easy installation. Great sound and deep bass.
Great sounding speakers and install was easy.
Speakers are nice and sound great.
Pros: Sound, looks, price.
Cons: Crutchfield doesn't give a bracket for my car, which I found out isn't all that expensive elsewhere, but I used zip ties for the time being and not rattles thus far.
Paired with a new Sony reiever and they sound great together. Plenty of bass, midrange is a bit weak but adjusting the EQ on the receiver compensates nicely. Great sound at a reasonable price.
Pros: Impressive sound for the price. Came with all parts needed for installation.
Haven't had enought time to tune the system to perfection but so far the speakers have solid bass and good highs, the mids are where they sound a bit muffled in the area that I imagine some step up speakers may perform better in. The metal male connections are super thin metal and I bent one tryin to push on a female connecter that was too small. Just seems like a low quality area but managed to make it work.
Pros: Good bass. More than adequate for factory upgrade
Cons: Questionable materials, poor mid response
Good speakers for the money. Took advantage of $50 discount for buying a Kenwood car radio with the front and rear speakers. They are good alternatives to the factory speakers that I had. If you want bass, look elsewhere but, if you listen to music at normal volumes, these will be just fine for you.
Pros: Good price, excellent fit.
Cons: Don't expect the best sound quality. They are good for the money.
The sound far surpassed the OEM speakers I was amazed at the clarity of the speakers and the ability to project the bass
Pros: Easy installation and quality of the speakers also the low price
Cons: None I can see
I bought the sound ordnance 6x9 ebclosures for behind my truck seat and they sound awesome!
Needed flush mount 6x9s for my lincoln zephyr, replacing the factory thx sound is hard but the kenwoods come really close for a good price
Pros: Sound great,reasonable price
Loves my sounds
Pros: Sounds great
Overall, nice speakers. Good bass. Nice sound quality.
Pros: Good bass. Nice sound quality. Easy install.
Cons: Speakers are not flush where stock speakers were removed in '98 Grand Prix.
I got these know they were cheap but with all the freebies were a good deal. I have them on a 60watt rms sony amp I set the gain with an O scope to not clip the speakers, high pass filter on and they sound muddy. I had to take all the mid level "1k" out just to hear the highs "12.5k" the bass was ok without the filter on, not deep! it's centered around 80h. its more of a mid bass. I'll say better than factory but not much. I'll be getting something better as my bank roll gets fatter but for now they'll have to do.
Pros: a good deal with the free Crutchfield stuff.
Cons: everything about them
Replaced stock speakers in Daughter's Jeep Patriot. She loves these!!! Sound quality is so much better.
Pros: Great sound Easy install
Nice speakers for the $. Perfect to upgrade factory components, just go for the kickers or mtx thunder is you plan on pushing with an amp.
Pros: Clean, clear sound at pretty much any volume.
Cons: Not quite the bass that I expected
Got these for my son's 07 Corolla for Christmas to replace factory speakers. They are way better than expected especially for the price!
Pros: Price, quality, super sound
Cons: Not a direct fit for his car so a little more effort to install
Used to replace factory speakers while retaining factory radio in 80's GM - perfect fitment and sound!!
Pros: Great sound for the price
Installed these for my daughter. Improved her sound 110%. Great product. Easy to install.
Pros: Ease of installation. Crisp highs and good bass.
Very nice mids and highs, bass would probably be a lot nicer in a box, but I don't use it for bass.
Pros: Clear Mids/Highs - ok lows
I replaced the factory rear deck speakers in my 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix GT with these. They made a big difference in the sound of the stock radio / CD player. I could pull out the mids and highs, and they have just the right bass punch. They sounded so good I bought the Kenwood 5 1/2" companion speakers for the front doors. AWESOME !
Pros: Easy peasy install with included Master Sheet. Took me all of 2 hours.
Cons: That I waited so long to do this.
Quick easy installation, sounds good
These 6 by 9 speakers were a perfect match for my OEM speakers. When I fired them up the sound was amazing. The bass was ten times better than my factory speakers, made me want to go out " CRUZIN ". No problem handling the power from my Kenwood Radio..
Pros: Adds a little WUMP to your ride, even though it's the family van.....P.S. Even got my wife to crank up the volume...
The sound quality is not bad but one speaker of the pair blew within a week...a little shocked almost want to blame it on that one out of a thousand being bad.
Cons:Crutchfield response on October 13, 2014 We forwarded this review to our Technical Support team for follow-up. Lifetime tech support comes with every Crutchfield purchase.
Easy to install and very capable speakers. These will partner well with a subwoofer but with or without one prepare to blow the roof off.
Pros: Can handle power, loud and crystal clear.
Cons: Slight distortion on the lows, having a sub woofer will help
Pretty good sound for the price
Pros: Fits perfect good quality product
Cons: Conexion kinda weak
I installed these in my Tacoma and they sound so much better than my stock speakers did
Anticipated long day of creating mounting bracket. Pleasantly surprised, it took about 1 hour disassemble, drill holes, reassemble rear deck on Corolla. Installation was a snap. Speakers put out good sound, plenty of power but were not designed to deafen the neighborhood! Not meant for thumping your chest (and I wasn't looking for that), but great for pop/alternative at a comfortable volume.
Pros: Easy installation, good price, good sound
Cons: Not meant for high volume/low bass (which was fine for my taste)
Driven by a Naka NA780 I have 4 of these installed in a 2014 Patriot in the doors. A huge leap over the dual cone factory setup. Bass is pretty decent and they thump with anything in their class. Tiny magnets mean efficiency and low power demands. No need to hook up an amp as they would perform well even with a stock radio. If you want to connect an amp get Sony Explodes. Usually marketed as a 4pk. Crutchfield sells them as a pair and therefore double what you would find them for elsewhere. Not by any means a value oriented speaker. You get what you pay for and these are a prime example.
Pros: Dirt Cheap Price Efficient Better than anticipated bass response.
Cons: I paid too much and would have got them cheaper elsewhere.
They work great!
Pros: Sound quality
Cons: They make the back panel rattle more than my junk speakers
Got these two days ago for my gas saver a 1999 Civic. I'm really impressed! I've had alpine and a few other nice brands but wasn't expecting much out of these. I bought these with a kenwood dpx300u and got the KFC 61/2s along with the KFC 6/9s for right at $200 because of a $50.00 off deal. The 6x9s alone are awesome. Don't over look these because of the low price. They work great plenty of clarity and mid bass.
Pros: Great sound! Suprising bass!
First, this is probably not a fair review because my home reference speakers are Bowers and Wilkins bookshelfs arranged into a surround arrangement with a sub, and that system makes me like music I usually hate. However, on the other hand, these speakers went into a Toyota Corolla with one of the worst stock systems I've ever heard or imagined, so the bar was low! The factory speakers were literally paper and plastic with magnets the size of a $2 stack of quarters. I yanked those out and put them in the garbage, and also installed a Kenwood head unit to replace the pathetic 20W stock cd player. Signal is good!
It's a world better now, but I now wonder if I should have spent more. These speakers were definitely designed to go with a sub, so in a sub-less 4-speaker system like mine I set the EQ flat and put the dreaded "loudness" on level one. I might experiment more, but the point is they're not perfectly balanced out of the box. More concerning, I just don't feel the sharp (but not too bright) crispness I like from my reference speakers. These speakers seem biased toward emphasizing stringy sounds like guitars, violins, and harmonicas. That said, they're strong on classical music.
Pros: -with the connector supplied by Crutchfield, wiring is easy and foolproof. -covers are not juvenile-looking like so many others.
Cons: -lacks crispness, yet on flat EQ the treble is too high. Compensate for the treble with a sub, EQ settings, loudness, or bass boost. Compensate for the crispness by spending $100 per speaker next time. -no anti-rattle foam along the mounting surface. -no anti-road-noise foam long the front (used weatherstripping after I realized how much louder the road noise was after installing these. That fixed it.).
I never knew how crappy my OEM speakers were until I installed these. All I can say is WOW at the bass and sound coming out of these! The install was a little tight as there an extra little edge around the speakers compared to my Mopar factory units, but not enough to require any trimming. Overall I would highly recommend these to anyone with factory units.
Pros: Very easy install
These speakers are great, the sound it really good, great lows mids and highs, it has the bass power when I want it and even better treble when its needed.
Pros: great sound, easy install
Cons: I haven't found any yet
Quick & easy install. Sound is great. Much better than the OEM 14 year old speakers
I put these in my 2008 Tacoma front doors and replaced the factory speakers. Matched them up with a Kenwood deck and they totally blew my mind. Jazz Blues, Rock, Piano music, you name it is like you are right there live. My Son remarked it sounded as good as most home stereo systems. Very pleased and the mounting adapters from Crutchfield made it a breeze.
Pros: Sound, Bass, Mids, High end overall balance
Cons: Should have done this a long time ago.
Pros: Price was good.fit into stock spot
Cons: Small magnet. Not as much base as I wanted.
The speakers are a good value for the price. I replaced the factory front speakers on a 2014 Chevy Silverado Double Cab truck with these. The adapters worked great!! A great product from a great company!!
Pros: Good Value, I got the mounting hardware for free.
Great set of speakers for the price.
Pros: Great for people on a budget.
Cons: Magnets are to small for myself.
has good sound quality and easy to install
Pros: Simple speaker
Cons: Had to cut out treble to spearker
Correct fit for vehicle and with quality sound
Awesome sound on a budget!
Pros: Easy install in factory locations.
Good sound for the price. Had to do some modifications to make it fit the space but other than that I am well pleased.
Pros: Good sound using stock radio.
Cons: Modification needed to fit 2006 Camry.
Not an out-of-the-box fit in 1997 Honda Accord. Extensive modification of speaker mounting holes was required to line up mounting screws with factory threaded holes in package shelf.
Pros: Good sound.
Cons: Does not fit vehicle as advertised.
Very nice sounding speakers with just stereo pushing them. Very impressed
Sounds great in my truck. good range on mid and tweet. Not worried about bass have amp and subs for that.
Pros: great sound!!!
These speakers have good range and really fill the cabin well. Direct bolt in with supplied adapters.
Pros: -Excellent sound even at high SPL's
Cons: - Could use a little more bass in the vehicle but I probably need a sub to really hit the lows.
Very clear with great base

I bought the speakers for a 2014 GMC Sierra. But I think all newer trucks have rain shield. [ lionel Oct 20, 2015 ]
no these went into a montero in the rear. no rain worries. but i did have to modify the hole to make them fit a little. they werent a direct fit 6x9 replacement. [ MAUNA LAKI Oct 20, 2015 ]
Yes, always amp up your speakers. Lack of power will blow a speaker quicker than to much power. [ DALLAS Aug 07, 2015 ]
Suprisingly, they sound much better than factory speakers even without an amp. I've had them installed for about a year with a kenwood stereo, no plans for an amp. [ HENRY Aug 04, 2015 ]
Hard to say without knowing what "factory" sounds like. I can say this though, these were 100 times better than OEM in the 04 Impala. Even better when we matched them up to a Kenwood head unit. [ ROBERT W Aug 04, 2015 ]
It depends on what kind of sound your listening for but the RMS of 14 watts is better than stock. I use an amp for my sound but I got two 12" sub to go with it. [ lionel Aug 04, 2015 ]
