Overview

Our take on the Kenwood KFC- 6995PS

6x9 5-way speakers

Five drivers and a whole lotta power handling

Kenwood's Performance Series KFC-6995PS 6"x9" speakers employ a 5-way design to give you articulate lows, clean vocals, and startling highs, thanks to a division of labor between a 2-3/4" paper cone midrange driver, a balanced-dome tweeter, and two smaller supertweeters. This arrangement allows these speakers to handle up to 125 watts RMS, which is some serious power handling for a speaker in the price range.

A whole new speaker

These 6"x9" speakers feature a water-resistant paper cone woofer with a new radial rib pattern, which increases speaker strength and delivers more responsive bass. The addition of a rubber surround ensures a new level of overall durability, so you'll be enjoying that fresh-from-the-box sound for years.

Kenwood engineered a smoother listening experience with the Acoustic Sound Harmonizer, which uses slots on the mount housing the midrange, tweeter, and supertweeters to improve the progression into the higher frequencies. Grilles are included for custom installations.

Installed them into a 90 YJ wrangler. I had to modify the mounting plates, because the space under the dash was small. Speakers sound and look great.

Love Kenwood, Hated These Speakers...

1993 Volvo 240 Series
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these speakers for the RMS rating and the frequency response. I thought they'd help fill in the void between my 4" door speakers and my 12" subs. I had them hooked up to a 2 channel/85 watt amp and the one speaker blew after a week. Unfortunately they sat new in box for so long that I couldn't return them after this happened. I have a lot of faith in Kenwood's products but was sorely disappointed by this. I'm not saying the speakers are garbage as the sound I got from them was exactly what I was looking for, but I think I was the victim of some faulty equipment.

Pros: Sounded great for the week that I had them working...

Cons: Possible defective equipment and longevity concerns

Installed them into a 90 YJ wrangler. I had to modify the mounting plates, because the space under the dash was small. Speakers sound and look great.

Pros: For such a small speaker they sound great. I like being able to see the kicker logo.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

great sounding speakers, especially for the price. I have never dealt with a company that sent instructions quite like this. They were fed in a PDF file, along with illustrations. They also set free of charge, a cable and adapter plug that snapped into the existing hardware. Made the task a little easier.

Pros: Getting all of the information and hardware to make the conversion a snap.

Cons: Had nothing to do with the speakers or Crutchfield. Reuse original grilles. I have a Chrysler Sebring and this car has its problems in the exchange. Unhooking the original speakers was a pain and getting grille back in place was equally aggravating. Be patient doing this. It is best to do the exchange by letting back seats down and replace on the inside of the car.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Deeply impressed. Running off an aftermarket DVD receiver and the quality is amazing. The mids and highs come in clear on them. I can only imagine what these monsters would sound like with an amp! Measure well though! These are bulky speakers.

Pros: Everything. Especially for $100

Cons:

Awesome sound at an affordable price!

Written by: ISTAYLIFTED from Tacoma,WA on July 14, 2014

Ive had these for 2 1/2 years and theyre still sounding great. I dont ever see 5 Way Speakers when shopping, and the highest RMS I find is 75-90. So with these pushing 125 RMS, youre sure to be bragging and boastin to strangers when they hear you pull in. The price is very affordable and reasonable especially for the durability, quality, and appearance of these, plus theyre a well known name brand!

Pros: Loud, Good Sound Quality, Affordable, Durable

Cons: Cant complain!
