6x8 3-way speakers

The performers

Kenwood's Performance Series speakers employ a multi-driver design to give you articulate lows, clean vocals, and startling highs. Kenwood has incorporated the latest technology into these speakers, so you'll get the biggest sonic bang for your buck.

A whole new speaker

The KFC-C6895PS 6"x8" 3-way speakers feature a water-resistant paper woofer cone with a new radial rib pattern, which increases speaker strength and delivers more responsive bass. The addition of a rubber surround ensures a new level of overall durability, so you'll be enjoying that fresh-from-the-box sound for years.

All the musical details are handled by the 1-3/16" tweeter and 1/2" supertweeter. Kenwood engineered a smoother listening experience with the Acoustic Sound Harmonizer, which uses slots on the mount housing the tweeter and supertweeter to improve the progression into the higher frequencies. Grilles are not included — factory grilles are suitable for most installations.

  • 6"x8" 3-way speakers (pair)
  • water-resistant paper cone with 1-3/16" paper tweeter and 1/2" ceramic supertweeter
  • Acoustic Sound Harmonizer improves response in the 3000 to 4000 Hz range
  • power range: 2-81 watts RMS (360 watts peak power)
  • impedance: 4 ohms
  • frequency response: 63-20,000 Hz
  • sensitivity: 88 dB
  • top-mount depth: 2-3/8"
  • warranty: 1 year
  • Our 60-day money-back guarantee

Why replace your car's original speakers?

The speakers that originally came in your car were made from inexpensive materials, designed to create acceptable sound at the lowest possible cost to the manufacturer. If you love music, you deserve better. Name-brand aftermarket speakers deliver fuller, richer sound with considerably more detail and nuance, and they're capable of playing louder and cleaner than factory speakers. Connect new speakers to your factory radio and you'll get the best possible sound from your dealer-equipped system. Pair them up with a new car stereo for a level of enjoyment that can rival a high-fidelity home audio experience.

2009 Kia Rio
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed in a 2009 Kia Rio with factory 4-speaker system. I'm not an audio professional or even an enthusiast really, but one of my factory front speakers was blown out so I decided to replace all 4 with decent aftermarket speakers.

Honestly, I'm less than impressed by these speakers. They are actually quieter and produce less bass "feel" than the factory speakers did. Sound clarity increased a ton over the factory speakers, but now instead of having a balanced volume between the front door and the rear deck, most of the sound heard by the operator (me) comes only from the front two. There are virtually no bass hits coming from the rear deck/trunk area anymore, where the factory speakers could be heard and slightly felt even when standing next to the car outside.

I admit it's a possibility that I need to replace the factory head unit with an aftermarket one in order to power these speakers properly. I am unsure of the power output rating of the factory head unit, and I certainly wasn't expecting the new speakers to be louder, but I wasn't expecting them to be quieter either.

At the same time, I replaced the factory fronts with Kenwood's cheaper "sport series" KFC-1665S 6.5" speakers. They sound awesome so I'm not sure why the more expensive "performance" KFC-C6895PS 6x8" speakers would be so underwhelming.

I still rated this product at 4 stars because I can't know for sure if the speakers are at fault or if my factory Kia head unit is just too weak to power them.

Pros: Exact fit, good sound clarity.

Cons: Can hardly hear these speakers. Volume turned up to 30+ used to be ear-splitting and unbearable with factory speakers, and is now not all that loud with these Kenwoods. Even when the Fade setting on the head unit is set to 100% rear, with no power to the fronts at all, the music is just not all that loud. Also, the wiring terminals are Extremely flimsy and bend easily during connection.

Been nothing but impressed with these Kenwood KFC-C6895PS speakers. Sound is crisp and tight. Highs are clear and the speakers seem to handle high volumes well. They are a great bang for the buck, and highly recommended.

Pros: Perfect Fit for 2006 Ford Explorer. Clean. Clear. Crisp.

Cons: Bass isn't super powerful (but is clean and punchy!) Add a sub to your system and this is no big deal.

Good Upgrade and Direct Fit For Fords

2001 Ford Explorer Sport
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Quality customer service and super fast shipping I have come to expect from Crutchfield. These speakers are a good upgrade from the old paper stock ones. The Mids and Highs are good and clear. Bass is pretty good considering the size. The only negative thing I'd have to say about them are that they start to sound a little distorted at higher levels. I have Mud Terrains on the truck and when driving around with the windows down it tends to be loud. I was looking for a speaker that would help cover up that noise. Seems to do ok, but may have to hook them up to an amp to help with clarity.

Pros: Fast Shipping, Direct fit without modification, Price, Quality, Ease of Installation

Cons: Distortion and lack of clarity at higher listening levels

The speakers have a great quality and Im sure will last. Great investment on my car audio. Crutchfield really is better than having to pay hundreds at an audio install. Crutchfields self installation guide is extremely good ajd detailed. Im definitely going to buy.

Cons: Not a significant upgrade over oem, but better nonetheless. Aftermarket head unit is necessary to truly appreciate the product.

These are 80W RMS speakers. If you're trying to push them with a factory stereo or even an upgraded head unit you are wasting your time. You need an amp that can push at least 60W RMS per channel. I'm using a Polk PA660 with these up front and some JBL 6x9s in back, and an Infinity 611A pushing two 10s, and it sounds like the band is in the car with me.

Pros: Clear & powerful.

Cons: You need an amp.

For one thing, your website needs to be updated with the right information regarding the fit of this speaker model on Ford Fusions 2008, 2009. It states this Kenwood speaker model does not fit, when in fact it does! My installer mounted these speakers with no problem on the rear side doors of my Ford Fusion 2008. Most Ford vehicles come with 6X8 factory speakers on rear and front side doors. I play burned CDs and my iPod.

Pros: Great speaker for mid-range and high frequencies. Good bass sound as well. Best to use this speaker with aftermarket amplifiers to take advantage of their quality. I have my factory six disc changer connected to a Kenwood 50 watt X 4 amplifier. I had to invest in an audio control unit to make it work. I have also connected a Bass-link Infinity Sub with built-in amplifier. The sound is fantastic!! I have also a great speaker system in the front with separate 6X8 woofers and twitters.

Cons: None

Crutchfield response on November 19, 2014 Upon seeing this review, we took another look at these Kenwood speakers. The measurements are indeed close enough to fit a lot of vehicles that "officially" take 5x7 speakers. We changed our database so that from now on, these speakers will be included when it's checking the fit for 5x7 or 6x8 options in a vehicle. Previously, we only listed them as fitting a true 6x8 application.

I replaced all 4 of my factory speakers with these in my 05 mustang. There was immediate improvement and after I also replaced the subs (got the kicker shelby 8 in subs made for the shaker system in mustangs) the difference is amazing. These speakers have very clear highs as it says, in fact I almost felt they were too high before I replaced the subs and was able to balance the highs with the lows but you can adjust the settings with an aftermarket stereo and fix that right up. Anyway i'm happy with my purchase, crutchfield provided fast shipping with no problems.

Never take a Crutchfield reps advice! I was told these specific speakers would be everything I need for what I told my goal was... I can't turn the volume up without the speakers getting badly distorted ! Don't buy these!!!

Pros: Easy install

Cons: Everything! Distorting speakers right here .

Crutchfield response on August 19, 2014 We're sorry to hear that you're not happy with the speakers. But that happens sometimes and that's why we have a friendly 60-day money back guarantee. Of course, it might just be that you need to add an amplifier to get the volume and clarity of sound you're looking for. If that's the case no speakers powered only by the stereo will ever satisfy you. Some of us are just unlucky that way! Adding a 50- or 75-watt RMS amp will really wake up the speakers. Something to consider.

Pros: Crisp highs, great range, massive improvement over factory.

Cons: This might be just with a wire working loose in my car, but I used the free plug adapters to install in my freestyle, and occasional one of them cuts out and comes back on. Customer Q&A

1 question already asked

I installed these speakers in my Ford Explorer and was quite impressed with the sound that they put out, there is no vibration or distortion from the paper cone just great high and low tones You won't be disappointed [ NORMAN  Dec 11, 2015 ]
your concern is perfectly logical but in the case of anything Kenwood I wouldn't worry there's a reason they're one of the best. [ Charles  Dec 11, 2015 ]
Polypropylene is indeed a better material, but I don't think you will be disappointed. I bought these for my pickup yo compliment a 10" subwoofer and I had no issues. They sounded great, and for the money you couldn't beat it. Of course I would have preferred a poly cone, but I wasn't willing to spend that kind of money. If you're looking for a decent sounding price point alternative to a poly speaker, buy these. If you want championship winning quality, you are better off continuing your search into the pricier options. [ Bradley  Dec 11, 2015 ]
