Our take on the Kenwood CA-C1AUX

This CA-C1AUX adapter converts the changer control plug on the back of most recent (1999 and later) Kenwood changer-controlling receivers into an auxiliary input. The 10" cable has the 13-pin male DIN connector at one end and female RCA plugs at the other (allowing you to connect an MP3 player, for example). Warranty: 30 days.

Note: When this adapter is used, you can't connect a CD changer to the Kenwood receiver. You can't connect this adapter to the pass-through changer port on a Kenwood SIRIUS tuner.

At Crutchfield, you'll get detailed, accurate information that's hard to find elsewhere. We stay on top of new products and technologies to help people make informed choices.

Features

Compatibility: This adapter should only be used with changer control head units that have the adapter listed as an accessory. The adapter is not compatible with pre-1999 head units. This cannot be used with the pass-through port on Kenwood Sirius tuners. If you have a Kenwood Sirius tuner and want AUX in capability, a Kenwood KCA-S220A will be required; the KCA-S220A is a two changer switch with a stereo RCA auxiliary input.

Plugs into Head Unit CD Changer Control Connector: When the CA-C1AUX adapter is used, you cannot connect a CD changer to the head unit (the CA-C1AUX plugs into the changer control DIN connection on the head unit).

Inputs and Cable Length: The female RCA inputs are at the end of a 10" cable; they are coded red (for right) and white (for left).

Kenwood CA-C1AUX

Written By Mitch K, Carol Stream, IL. on Saturday, February 19, 2011

The quality of this was very good. It works great with a Zune. The only minor
problem was that the 90 degree bend on the Kenwood round jack went the wrong
direction sending the cable up slightly above the top of the tuner. Good part, value
purchase.

Makes older equipment modern

Written By Roland, SoCal on Friday, February 11, 2011

In 2011 I installed a brand new Kenwood KDC-516S headunit that was laying around
the garage since 2000. That was long before iPods or any of the smart phones.
This adapter with another cable allows me to plug in my Android to have a
completely current setup.

Kenwood CA-C1AUX

Written By Jon, Helena, MT on Sunday, February 07, 2010

This adapter works great, it is compatible with my old (circa 1998) KRC-3006 head unit in place of the CD changer. Makes Ipod listening a breeze. Money well spent.

Kenwood CA-C1AUX

Written By Khamkou, Milwaukee, WI on Tuesday, April 14, 2009

Great product. I used an FM transmitter for playing my mp3 player, and the sound quality wasn't too good. No highs and to much lows. When I added this to my head deck. It was music to my ears. :D Two thumbs up.

Great, but...

Written By Dave, Savannah, GA on Thursday, January 29, 2009

Functionally, this works great. Unfortunately, the connector is oriented upwards when attached to the receiver. This causes space problems behind the receiver, especially if space is tight already. There is no room for the tight bend the cable must make right away, since it has to bend 90 degrees to point out behind the receiver, then another bend to point in whatever direction your installation requires. Make sure it isn't riding against anything that moves or it'll chafe away the insulation!

Great for "Line In" Electronics

Written By Charlotte, CO on Saturday, April 26, 2008

I tried to use this to connect my circa 1995 Sony 10 disc changer directly to
a Kenwood KDC-MP338 rather than running it through the old FM
transmitter. Unfortunately, the changer must have a small amplifier in it
because the input signal was severely over-amplified, which greatly
distorted the sound.

This is an awsome way to add an auxiliary input to the rear of a Kenwood
stereo, but just make sure that what you're sending into the stereo is at a
standard "line in" amplitude (i.e. mp3 players, etc.)
