Wide angle

Kenwood's CMOS-220 rear-view camera helps keep you aware of your surroundings so you can drive more safely. Shift into reverse, and you can check out the view behind your vehicle — the picture shows up on your receiver's screen automatically. The camera captures a 128-degree horizontal view and 103-degree vertical view, so you'll really get the big picture — especially handy if you're trying to back up in a large vehicle or if you're towing something.

The 24-foot cable and harness assembly is long enough for most vehicles and includes a composite video connector, so it'll work with almost any video receiver. Mounting bracket included.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Self-installed on a 2001 Mercedes-Benz ML320. Excellent picture quality--better than the factory camera picture on my wife's GMC Yukon XL Denali. Night time image very good with car's backup lights alone. Easy installation. Hardest part was custom cutting the rear tailgate trim for a more hidden installation, so as to look more OEM (otherwise camera attachment was simple, as was the wiring). Running wire was a bit tedious also, but that's dependent on the car make/model. Plenty of extra wire run for longer vehicles. Paired with a Kenwood DDX 371 receiver, it allows a live picture when moving forward--nice for towing--and still engages automatically when put in reverse. The wiring connections at head unit were simplified as my antenna power from the head unit was unused and so was perfect for camera power, and the ML320 has a reverse signal wire in the OEM harness. Only regret is not doing it sooner. In the ML320, camera position cannot be dead center due to tailgate handle so picture is slightly offset to one side. No grid lines but these would be somewhat inaccurate on an offset install anyway.

Pros: Looks OEM. Excellent picture quality. Sturdy metal casing.

Cons: None so far.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

In June 2014 purchased a Kenwood radio a cheaper backup camera. The camera was defective and I bought this unit to replace it. The first problem I had was during installation, Crutchfield had not included the necessary information needed to install the additional wiring needed for my car and it was not included in the Kenwood instructions either. I hooked up the camera to the radio per the instructions and it would not work. A call to Crutchfield Technical solved the problem and an email instructions gave the missing information. The mounting bracket leaves room for improvement. Overall the camera produces a great picture and is very effective. I should have spent a few dollars more up front and purchased this camera first.

Pros: Very good picture and well built unit.

Cons: Better installation instructions from manufacturer and Crutchfield. A better mounting bracket would be useful.

View is Great

Compatibility: The Kenwood CMOS-220 Universal Rear-View Camera can be used as a back-up camera with Kenwood in-dash navigation and DVD receivers. However, the standard composite video output (RCA plug) extension cable makes it compatible with virtually any in-dash mobile video receiver.

Waterproof Chassis: The camera is built into a compact waterproof aluminum case, making it perfect for mounting outside the vehicle.

Super Wide Viewing Angle: The 128° horizontal and 103° vertical viewing angles provide an excellent near field view of anything behind you. The camera gives you a mirror image for rear view confirmation.

CMOS Optics: The 1/3.6" color CMOS image sensor has approximately 330,000 pixels to deliver a high quality picture.

Illumination Range: The rear-view camera provides an illumination range of approximately 0.9 to 100,000 lux. It offers less light distortion from nearby light sources.
