Everyone gets something they like

Perfect for a family vehicle, Kenwood's great-looking DPX300U CD receiver gives you variable illumination colors, plenty of entertainment options, and user-friendly controls. And you can plug your iPod®, iPhone®, or other devices into the handy USB port and auxilliary input located on the front panel. System info shows up in extremely large font size on the display, so you'll know what's up with a glance.

How do you like your music?

Whether you plug in your iPod® or iPhone® to the front USB, load a CD, or listen to Internet radio stations, you can choose from a variety of easily accessible musical options. iPhone users, you can access and control your iHeartRadio and Pandora stations with the Kenwood's controls. You can also add a SiriusXM tuner to access the impressive selection of sports, talk, news, and commercial-free music offered on satellite radio. And the included wireless means your passengers can control the entertainment while you worry about the driving.

Variable color options

The DPX300U will give your dash a face lift, with sleek styling, a glossy exterior, and a prominent control knob that give it way more style than your average factory stereo. When you set the variable display and button colors to match your car's interior, you'll give it extra oomph. Amd here's good news for you Toyota owners out there — this receiver comes with Toyota trim pieces that make it look right at home in your ride.

Sound quality to rock your ride

This Kenwood's built-in MOSFET amp will impress you with its clean power, so turn it up if you want. You can use the 3-band equalizer for precise adjustment of the highs, mids, and lows, while eight EQ presets allow quick shifts to a tone curve that matches your music. The Speaker Settings function tailors the output of the receiver to match the size and type of speakers you've got installed in your vehicle.

Want to keep your car's steering wheel audio controls?

In most vehicles, you can use an adapter (not included) to connect your vehicle's steering wheel controls to this Kenwood stereo. Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and the Kenwood, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls. Check the "Accessories" tab for compatible adapters.

iPod note: If you're going to use your iPod with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for specific iPod model compatibility with this receiver or its optional iPod adapter.

Got this for my work van and all the guys love it. More sound options than just an am/fm radio, with access and control of Pandora, iPhone, and Android.

Beautiful unit, well built, and easy to install. However, the speed of the read (particularly for MP3/WMA CDs) and reliability of the read is questionable. The documentation for all the whistles and bells is lacking.

    Pros: Well built, attractive.

    Cons: Read reliability and speed.

Got this for my work van and all the guys love it. More sound options than just an am/fm radio, with access and control of Pandora, iPhone, and Android.

Pros: Variable display color to match your dash lights, cd, usb, auxilary inputs, and Pandora, iHeartRadio, and Sirius/XM control.

Cons: When using Pandora, you have to wait for the unit to connect to the iPhone, and press "allow" on your iPhone screen to complete the connection. Once that's done, you now have control from the unit.

    Good basic stereo

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought this to have Sirius satellite radio without having to have plug and play unit. Wiring was easy, fit dash adapter fine. Simple design, but controls can be tricky. Haven't figured out how to control color display on unit. It rotates through all colors, red, blue, green, and orange. Wish I could figure out how to keep it set up on blue or green to match dash lighting.

Pros: Easy wiring, decent sound. Would be better with quality speakers. Currently running Pioneer 6x8s on doors and stock speakers on rear deck. Will eventually upgrade to a powered sub and maybe some component speakers.

Cons: Controls can be tricky to figure out. I'm sure I'll get used to them with repeated use,.

This is a great low priced radio that fit the car exactly as indicated. Has a little trouble with the wiring, but after installed worked great.

Pros: Arrived fast, great instructions and was easy to install. GREAT PRICE FOR RADIO AND 4 SPEAKERS

Cons: Wiring a little hard due to color change in original wiring. Took time to decipher correct wire connection

This unit is a good value sounds great is built solid but it is hard to navigate through all the features. Setting up the mids highs and lows was a bit of a task and it took some time getting used to how the controls work. Also the unit has different colors that change and I am still not sure if I can set it to one color or not. Other than that this this unit works great.

Pros: works good ,lots of features

Cons: Hard to set up tones/ features

Great unit if your looking for a good factory replacement as i was. Good base model don't expect a lot of features. I like the option to be able to play Iheart radio or pandora but if you want to use hands free i would suggest the 500u model

Pros: looks good and sounds good with a set of kenwood speakers.

Replaced son's 2007 Toyota Corolla head unit. Factory (6) speakers still. Super easy to install. Use a wired ipod and iPhone for music. Read both very well.

Pros: Ease of use, installed quickly, looks great in dash, large volume knob, plenty of power so it's louder than stock.

Cons: Display is not bright enough.

I've had this deck a few weeks and love it. I drive a Scion with the standard Pioneer system. This unit really pounds the speakers. Honestly, it sounds like I installed new speakers along with the deck! Sound quality is awesome. I love the ipod and USB ports on the driver side, right in the front. Makes them so easy to use. Also, this unit gives you tons of color options to personalize the way your deck looks. Not a functional necessity, but it is a very cool feature. All the necessary wiring harnesses came free of charge, and made installation very quick and easy.

Pros: -Sound quality/display color options -Ease of installation -Fit and finish once installed -Supplied wiring harness and trim finish kits -Good value compared to similar head units

Cons: -The unit literature tells very little about how to set the deck up once installed. It takes a lot of trial and error to figure out how to set the sound profile up.

Fit was good on my 2014 Nissan Versa SV, the kit sent with it did not fit well....I ended up using the brackets from the factory HU.....later I found that the Best Kits BKNDK786 is the best fit for my Versa....the harness was simple to install. Sound was good with factory speakers but now that I installed Polk speakers it really brings the Kenwood HU to life ....so far very happy......

Pros: Easy installation of the HU. The wiring harness was easy to install and connect. And the fact that you can change the screen color to match your vehicles illumination is a plus for me.

Cons: Installation kit sent did not fit my 2014 Nissan Versa SV with fatory single CD HU. See my above review.

Seems to be a good sounding unit. Installation was made confusing by the packer; 1- Included were two different rectangular trim pieces and neither was needed (or fit). 2- The two plactic side mount pieces had to be cut off (4x inner-most tabs) in order for the unit to fit into the dash area. 3- Lots of extra screws?. 4- There was an antenna extension cable that was not needed...good thing since it was for a Chrysler fitment, not Ford.

    Pros: Sounds very good

Cons: Unecessarily complicated settings operations, and the factory only offers view/print option? No download?

Installed as part of a full factory replacement on a 2014 Nissan Sentra. Bought this unit to replace a new receiver I installed a few months back because it didn't look quite right in the Double-Din opening. This receiver looks good, sounds great, and it has all the settings and media playing capabilities I would ever need. Navigating the menu takes little time to learn and being able to change the colors to match those of your car is a nice touch.

    Pros:

Cons: So far the only complaint I have is how dim the display appears on a bright sunny day

Price will often tell you alot about a device. If you are looking at the cheaper range you can't expect to be wowed, which is the case here. This is a good sounding head unit that does all the basics. It does have a few pluses like the usb jack in the front and iphone/ipod control. This unit does not support Bluetooth but the model above this one for a few dollars more does. I was replaceing an aftermarket JVC unit that I had hated ever since I bought the vehicle. This unit looked much better mounted in the dash. It looks like it actually belongs there. The ability to change colors of the display independently from the key colors was a plus that I didn't think i would have liked as much as I do. You can set them to match your dash lights or contrast them. I actually have the display match while my key colors constantly slowly cycle through the spectrum. It's really quite cool. I have no amp connected and it still does a decent job pushing 4 speakers. For the money it is a nice little head unit.

Pros: All the colors you can change the display and the keys too. Looked very good for a cheaper unit sitting in my dash.

Cons: Display can be hard to see in direct sunlight, but the unit it replaced had the same problem.

I bought this as a replacement for my factory head unit..mine stopped ejecting cds and i wanted to add xm radio. I wasn't looking for all the bells and whistles .. just a solid upgrade of my gm unit. this is perfect upgrade for me at a value price. Was easy to install and matches my dash fairly well. This one has easy to use menu buttons and a remote..lol..although i have no idea why. This unit has all the outs for amps and also inputs on the face for usb and aux jack. I'll probably buy another one for my s10 project

Pros: value..kenwood double din for the price sounds so much better than my gm radio ease of use..switching between radio and xm color for display easy to match different dash colors

Cons: mine was missing the owner..user manual doesn't have bluetooth if you want that

Manufacturers either include it on a disc or send you to their website to download it. You can also find it on our website. On the stereo's web page, click on the "Details" tab. At the top of that tab, click on "What's in the box?" or just scroll down below the chart. The first item appearing in the "What's in the box?" box is a link to the owner's manual. You can view it in your browser or download it to your computer.

This unit is a perfect OEM upgrade nice display not too bright at night a little dim in direct sunlight looks really clean in factory location sound quality is very good, does not have the muddy sounding low end of the pioneer that this is replacing. The menu is a little tricky at first but once you figure it out it is pretty straight forward. Great receiver so far and matches dash lights perfectly in my SUV paired with 2 sets of kicker 6.5 sounds very nice.

I installed this unit in my F250 about a year ago. I bought because the CD player was a feature I really wanted. The Cd player died about a month after the warranty ran out. I am not happy it died so soon with such little use. I did review this unit after I installed it. I still stand by most of what I said. All I am saying now is the unit has proved over a short period of time to lack in quality. I won't buy another one. Another sad part is that I had to modify the dash to put the unit in. I will never do that again either. Now I am stuck. I would leave the dash alone so I could easily install a different unit if needed. Live and learn I guess. If you don't need a CD player you will probably love this unit.

    Pros:

Cons: CD player is junk. Had to modify dash for installation.

This is a definite upgrade over the factory stereo, it sounds noticeably better. It was easy to install and the wiring kit makes that part easy. My daughter likes the way the display changes color. The instructions don't explain a lot of the settings but if you sit there and play around with it you can make a good sound combination.

Pros: sounds good, easy to install

Cons: settings/features not explained very well in the instructions

As I titled, this unit is very flexible to install in most all environments from standalone factory to a full amped system. New or limited budged users can build from the fully functional head unit without the worry of replacing it or purchasing expensive adapters and such. The operation is strait forward affording the user more direct function buttons without the need to look at the screen using a navigation control as other brands, especially important while driving. The Android App has performed flawless so far. One note, If it wasn't for the USB drive option I know I would need to up my data package. All in all this is a nice unit that offers users mostly what they will ever want or grow to.

Pros: 1.Flexible installation. 2.Beautiful finish and control layout. 3.USB works with Android APP. 4.Tuner is very sensitive. 5.Settings will allow almost any thing a user prefers. 6.USB Drive capable is very fast to access.

Cons: #1. Biggest complaint is the USB file browsing does not list the folder/s name/s. Very difficult to navigate large collections, especially using the common folder format: Artist/Album/ or worse, Artist/Album (with more than one album). 2.Tuner head unit not capable to manual set stations or traveling weak stations, it's a car! Users will need to use the remote. 4.As others have mentioned, the included Start Manual is limited, suggest to download the full manual first to familiarize your needs.

Brooke @ Crutchfield recommended the Kenwood DPX300U to us to enable installation of a "hidden" SiriusXM receiver that we wanted to install. Everything necessary to facilitate installation was included in the shipment. And the installation was simple as could be after reviewing the included instructions. Brooke also added some really neat 'crimpless' wiring connectors that gave this installation professional quality without the need for soldering. Removal of factory stereo and installation of Kenwood and SiriusXM receiver was just over two hours and it looks better than the factory stereo.

Pros: Great sound using existing factory speakers. Easy installation with the install gear that was provided. Great looking multi-colored display. Seamless installation of SiriusXM receiver. Lighter than factory radio being replaced.

    Cons: None so far.

I dinged the value here only because the DPX 500 BT, which is bluteooth enabled, is only $40 more. I don't feel like switching the system. but I wish I had known that when I ordered the DPX 300 U.

Pros: Easy to use - my previous system had an interface where one knob tilted and turned to control all features - that was not usable when I was driving. The DPX 300 U is considerably simpler.

So far so good. After having the factory unit fail twice I decided it was time for an aftermarket unit. Having dealt with Crutchfield before they were my first choice. The Kenwood DPX 300U is a great unit. The quality of sound over the factory unit with just the head change is outstanding. I wish I hadn't wasted my money having the original factory unit repaired at the first failure.

Pros: Ease of installation, overall quality, everything required for a neat install included and awesome sound quality. My car sound system never sounded better.

Cons: The direction to set the clock were wrong. However a one minute call to Crutchfield's tech line resolved that problem. Thanks to Carl on the tech team!

I just had this installed and for the most part I'm satisfied with the unit. It's attractve, sound is fine but I had to download the owner's manual, and print some pages to be able to set some of the functions. Not being very tech saavy I found it a bit difficult initially . Now I've gotten more used to it. What I REALLY don't like is the difficulty to see the display in daylight. I tried various colors to no avail. It's really almost impossible to see in any kind of light.Even with the dimmer off. Sure does detract from the overall rating. BE SURE to order the optional tuner if you want satellite radio. It's optional( I missed that and didn't order it)

    Pros: Most everything,nice looks,price,sound.

Cons: Display nearly impossible to see in daylight. A bit difficult to use AT FIRST.

I finally got around to replacing the factory unit in my '01 Subaru Legacy. This is my first Double-Din unit, but it's the fourth Kenwood that I've owned, and I am VERY happy with it. Very clean sound, great controls and user interface, and tons of options for customizing the sound, and every other aspect of the unit.

Pros: Excellent value. Beautiful design. Simple and elegant, doesn't stick out like a sore thumb; actually looks like it belongs in the car! Front USB Port. MORE AMPLIFICATION than most other aftermarket head units(88 watts RMS). If you don't want to spend the $ on a dedicated amplifier for your speakers, Kenwood is the only way to go; and if you ever do decide to add an amp for a subwoofer, or speakers, or both, all the preamp outputs you'd ever need are there.

    Cons: None.

The Unit has great sound, sourcing can be CD, AM/FM, MP3, USB drive. If you are into "Cool", it offers multiple colors to select from for the display, none of which do well in direct sunlight which means in my Convertible I can see the display at night or with the top up. I tend to use a Flash drive as my input with my choice of music so the display is just a little aggravation versus a substantial problem.

Pros: Great Sound, Outputs for: Subwoofer, Rear entertainment systems, Amp. All kinds of Source inputs. It has a very modern appearance. I'd say for someone with a major Amp/Subwoofer system this would be a good choice

Cons: The front is really cluttered. The On/Off/ Source button is miniscule and located right above the USB port. With the exception of the Volume Knob every control is small to tiny. The display is large, no trouble seeing Artist, Title, etc as they go scrolling across (unless the top is down and the sun is shining) I am probably going to apply a layer of 2" clear tape to the Display area as to is very high gloss and will show the smallest of abrasions from the most careful cleaning.

I installed this stereo into my 2009 Toyota Corolla. The face places included in the box did not cover the entire opening but the face places provided by Crutchfeild did the job. The installation of the stereo unit was very simple; three factory screws on each bracket directly into the unit, no converter installation kit needed. Then factory brackets directly into factory position. Many people of have commented that they stereo does not give the appearance of an after market stereo...Looks like the one that the car rolled off the assembly line with. Using the stock, 6 speakers within the car, I am able to just about rattle the windows, at half volume.

Cons: While the some of the features are easy to use, getting to the settings it's as easy. Really not a huge issue once you get familiar

Found this to be a very high quality receiver for the price. It has all the features of the high end models at a much lower out of pocket cost. This one is also user friendly, very easy to set up for display and sound shape.

Pros: As long as your not trying to blow out an ear drum! this has just the right amount of output power. The color choice and being able to modify colors on keys as well as the display is a very nice feature. The single touch ATT that in an instant lowers the volume to next to nothing and then allows you to return right back is one great feature. The ease of use is also a very nice feature, the remote is just the right size so you dont have to fumble for the buttons.

Cons: Down loading and PDF printing of the actual operators manual was a con but if you have a lazer printer and a three ring binder your all set. The receiver has a Gloss Black finish and matches poorly to most vehicle dash boards that have more of a Matt Finish. It also has a glossy and very smooth face, this is very reflective and likes to colect dust on it. I find myseld carrying a small micro fiber towel now to give the front of the unit a fast wipe every couple of days.

For the price of this unit you can't beat it! With the help of 2 quick phone calls to customer service the installation was a piece of cake. Clyde and Joe walked me through two minor issues do to my inexperience and had the unit installed in about 20 min. The unit fits perfectly! Only issue at this point is setting the display color.

Pros: Great Price, easy install, perfect fit and great customer service!

    Cons: none

Need to upgrade my factory Silverado head unit and wanted a double din to match the factory look. Called Mike at Crutchfield with a couple quick questions about fit and made my decision. Fit is excellent and installation wasn't hard at all. Hardest part was trying to fit the Alpine add-on amp and all the wiring behind the dash!

Pros: Very good sound and fairly easy to use once you give the user guide a quick look. Was able to match the factory instrument colors with all the choice on the new deck. Iphone works perfectly and Pandora is easy to control from the deck as well.

Cons: A bit hard to see with sunglasses on in very bright light but not terrible.

I wanted something that was at least fairly easy to use and sounded good. This seems to fit the bill. Now, if it is reliable, it will be close to perfect. Time will tell.

Pros: Easier to operate than most. Great sound.

    Cons: None so far.

I purchased this stereo as a replacement for the JVC KW-XR610 head unit that was previously installed in my 1995 Buick Roadmaster. I liked the JVC. It looked good in the car, delivered excellent sound quality and was easy to use. Unfortunately, the buttons intermittently stopped working before it finally died after only three years of use. I was very disappointed on two levels. First, when I purchase an expensive stereo from a supposedly good brand, I expect it to last. Second, the JVC's failure forced me to disassemble and reassemble the dashboard on an almost-twenty year old car that you cannot get interior parts for anymore. Not wanting to relive the JVC debacle, I decided to go with Kenwood on the advice of a coworker who is knowledgeable about electronics. It was also the most stock-looking double din stereo available for the application. Almost all the other stereos I looked at were grotesque looking. The Good: Installation was reasonably quick and painless, taking less than a couple of hours. The Crutchfield website indicated that this stereo would not fit my in car. However, it fits seamlessly into the dashboard stereo bezel with no need for spacers and actually looks (more or less) like it's supposed to be there. The customizable display is nice because you can set it to match the rest of the dashboard lights exactly. Nothing looks more out of place than a bright blue/red/orange radio surrounded mellow green lights everywhere else. The sound quality is at least as good as the stock GM and the JVC units were (although not noticeably better). It is highly customizable, so you have to tinker with the audio controls a lot to make it sound right. The Pandora compatibility is a nice touch.

Cons: The Bad: Both the placement of the controls and the layout of the user interface lack dramatically. The buttons are all too small (with the exception of the six presets) and are not easy to operate while driving. Larger, more pronounced buttons would allow the driver to concentrate more on the road and less on operating the stereo. The seek buttons and volume dial should be positioned on the left side of the unit to accommodate the driver. The USB port should be placed on the right side so the i

I drive a 1997 Honda CR-V and have been using the original OEM receiver for the 14 years I've owned the vehicle. I wanted the ability to listen to my extensive mp3 collection while driving and this was the perfect upgrade! Very reasonably priced and this does just about everything you would want for a CD receiver. This was easy to install on my own- took me about 4 hours from start to finish with one call to Crutchfield tech support, but if you've ever done this sort of thing before it would probably take just a couple of hours. The variable color display is great- with 24 options, I found an exact match to my vehicle's dash color display. The sound is outstanding even with stock speakers, so I can't wait to hear what it sounds like when I upgrade the speakers. The preset EQ options all make noticeable improvements to different styles of music. I bought a Kingston Digital 32 GB micro USB drive, which is just the right size to store the maximum 255 folders/255 files per folder that this receiver can read. I leave it connected all the time and now I have around 500 hours of music constantly at my fingertips. It's kind of slow to advance through that many folders (no iPod-style spinning through the list, you just have to press buttons to go forward or back), but that's a nice problem to have. This receiver has a clock, which I definitely need and most other double-DIN receivers did not have. All in all, an excellent purchase and I am very pleased with this receiver!

Pros: Easy to install, USB input, adjustable color display, excellent sound quality.

Cons: The display is hard to read in bright daylight (looks great at night, though).
