Kenwood makes tough, rugged amplifiers that bring you superior sound quality along with reliable performance. Add a Kenwood Sports Series amp to your system, and you'll hear all the tonal color, impact, and detail you've been missing, from the punch of the rhythm section to the shiver induced by your favorite singer's voice.

The compact KAC-1502S 2-channel amplifier delivers 60 watts RMS per channel to your full-range speaker system. This amp will bring new life to your factory speakers, but you'll really notice the difference when you pair this amp with new aftermarket speakers or components.

You can also use this versatile amp to power a subwoofer with 150 watts RMS in mono mode, with a built-in low-pass filter that allows you to send bass below 80 Hz to your sub and enclosure. You'll also find preamp and speaker-level inputs, so you can put this amp to work in just about any kind of system.

Product Highlights:

  • 2-channel car amplifier
  • 60 watts RMS x 2 at 4 ohms (75 watts x 2 at 2 ohms)
  • 150 watts RMS x 1 bridged output at 4 ohms (4-ohm stable in bridged mode)
  • fixed low-pass filter (80 Hz at 18 dB per octave)
  • Class AB design and MOSFET power supply
  • CEA-2006 compliant
  • preamp and speaker-level inputs
  • requires 10-gauge power and ground leads — wiring and hardware not included with amplifier
  • fuse rating: 25A x 1
  • 9-1/8"W x 2-3/16"H x 7-1/8"D
  • warranty: 1 year
  • Our 60-day money-back guarantee

My system has plenty of power. Who needs an amp?

You might think you don't need an amp because you have a 400-watt system in your car, or because your new stereo puts out 50 watts a channel. But those are peak wattage ratings, which may boil down to 15 or 20 watts per channel, using the more realistic RMS rating. An amp sends your speakers the power they need to deliver your music with clarity and impact, whether you're using factory speakers or high-performance components. And low-frequency reproduction requires lots of power, so an amp is an absolute must if you're adding a sub to your system.

Good product. For a great price it works great and you can't beat it. Only thing I'll say is that it doesn't have much functionality but that's the result of it being cheaper.

Pros: Great price. High quality audio. Good build quality. Great value

Cons: None

good amp for $$$

Using this amp to power pair of 6 3/4"s in front doors.... Great sounding amp for the price

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this amp to power my new 6-3/4" speakers. I installed it directly under the drivers seat of my 05 Honda accord. The compact design allowed me to fit it easily out of site and securely under my seat. The amp is pretty impressive and is more than powerful enough for the speakers. I'm impressed with the quality of the unit for a decent price.

Pros: Good price Easy installation Compact

Cons: Wish it had a fan to cool the unit, but very unlikely with a small 2 channel amp

Hi! The sound improved immensely using this amplifier. Pay particular attention to properly wire the remote turn-on connections. This connection needs to be made on the ignition side of the fuse panel so the amplifier turns on and off when the vehicle is running so as not to run the battery down in the accessory mode.

Bought 2 of these amps, one for one sub, the other for the other. Running 2x12' Dual Sub-woofers and the bass that is produced is great for the price I paid for both amps. I would certainly not recommend running 2x12's off one amp alone, you will need to bridge the amp for maximum potential. I have not been in the back of my trunk while driving checking the temperature, but the amps stay warm, they do not get hot; I am only running them at 75% capacity which may explain why I have not fried them yet. For the price, you really can not complain, and if you do, you should have spent more money on a much higher wattage amp.

Pros: Great price, small body, clear bass signals.

Cons: Must be bridged for optimum performance(not really a con).

What a great starter amp.. i couldnt have been happier with this product it was cheap and it got people to turn their heads at stop lights i had it hooked to two of my kenwood kfc110's and it rocked my trunk, not going to lie though i was sad when it reached its limit in power because it isnt super high... but it was only good for 6 months becase it over heated and died on me. but i intend to purchese 2 more of these amps and run 1 per sub and see what kind of sound i can make! over all great for a beginner and just all around good amp.

Pros: size and power for price easy hook up and nice looking

Cons: over heats fast

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Kenwood KAC-1502S makes my stereo sound great! Clear clean highs and mids, even the base sounds good. I have Alpine 6X9 in front doors and installing the amp made a big difference sound wise. Crutchfield sent easy installation instructions to do the work myself. I purchased the EFX wiring kit which had all the parts I neeeded. Took all day but well worth the work. I would suggest to plan your installation before you do it yourself. know where all the wires are going and keep the power away from speaker wires, it will cause engine noise if you run them together. Do a little research before you do the work. Kenwood great product reasonable price. Thanks for the advice Crutchfield!

CEA-2006 Compliant: CEA-2006 is a system of testing & measurement methods for mobile audio amplifiers. This voluntary standard advocates a uniform method for determining an amplifier's RMS power output and signal-to-noise ratio. The criteria for measuring power uses a DC input voltage of 14.4 volts and the RMS power output is measured into a 4-ohm load, with 1% or less Total Harmonic Distortion plus noise (THD+N), and over a frequency range (for full range amplifiers) of 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz. Signal-to-Noise ratio is measured in weighted absolute decibels (dBA) at a reference of 1 watt into 4 ohms. CEA-2006 standards allow consumers to compare car amplifiers and receivers under the same conditions (apples to apples). The Kenwood KAC-1502S under CEA-2006 regulations is rated at 60 Watts RMS x 2 channels with an 80 dBA signal to noise ratio. The signal to noise ratio at the rated power output (not CEA-2006 conditions) is 95 dB.

2-Ohm Stable: The amplifier can support a 2-ohm load in stereo; the 2-ohm power output is 75 watts RMS x 2 channels.

Bridgeable: This two-channel amplifier can be bridged to a 4-ohm mono load; the bridged output is 150 watts x 1 channel RMS.

Cast Aluminum Heat Sink: The KAC-1502S utilizes a cast aluminum heat sink design to ensure the amplifier stays cool.

Protection circuitry: The amplifier features protection circuits that will turn the amp off in case of the following events:

  • speaker output contacts ground
  • speaker wire short-circuits
  • unit malfunctions and DC is sent to speaker output

Power Indicator: When the amplifier is turned on the Power indicator (on top of the amp) lights up red. This indicator turns off with the amplifier, and will turn off if the amplifier goes into protect mode.

Gain: To accommodate the varying range of signal levels from today's factory and aftermarket radios, the KAC-1502S features an adjustable gain control; 0.2-5.0 volts (RCA).

Low Pass Crossover: The amplifier has a fixed 80Hz, -18dB/oct low-pass filter which can be turned On or Off.

Power Connections: The power, ground, and remote turn-on connections are 0.35" wide screw terminals. A Phillips-head or flat blade screw driver (not supplied) is required to tighten/loosen the terminals. Spade connectors are recommended. Minimum 10 gauge wire is required for power and ground.

Speaker Outputs: The two pair of speaker outputs are 0.35" wide screw terminals. A Phillips-head or flat blade screw driver (not supplied) is required to tighten/loosen the terminals. Spade connectors are also recommended for the speaker wires.

Note: The speaker output terminals can be used in stereo or bridged mode.

Line Level Input: The line input is a pair of stereo RCA jacks.

Speaker Level Input: A three-pin harness is included for the speaker level input. The input harness is common ground; it will not accept floating ground outputs.

Fuse: The amplifier uses a 25-amp ATO blade-type fuse.
