Kenwood Performance Series car amplifiers offer long-term reliability and superior sound quality in a compact, no-nonsense package. The KAC-7205 2-channel amp pumps out 170 watts RMS per channel to your components, or up to 500 watts RMS to a subwoofer in single-channel mode. A rugged cast-aluminum heatsink combines with two cooling fans to keep this amp running at optimal temperatures, even when you're pushing your system hard.

A built-in low-pass filter adjusts the output so you'll get the best sound possible from your subwoofer system. You can dial in up to 18 dB of bass boost to fatten up the sound.

An aluminum cover plate covers and protects the amp's controls and connections, giving your installation a professional look. Speaker-level inputs and signal sensing turn-on allow these amps to hook up to factory radios without preamp outputs.

Features

MOSFET Switching Power Supply: The Kenwood KAC-7205 Two-Channel amplifier is equipped with a MOSFET switching power supply. Compared to conventional power supplies, the MOSFET amplification circuit is smaller and more efficient, and it delivers increased power with less distortion and absolutely zero on/off switching noise.

CEA 2006 Compliant: The KAC-7205's power ratings are measured according to the strict standards dictated by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). These standards allow you to accurately compare the rated power output of all CEA 2006-compliant amplifiers, even if they come from different brands. Manufacturers who adhere to the standards can display the CEA 2006 logo on their products and packaging.

Amplifier Rating: The Kenwood KAC-7205 two-channel amplifier is bridgeable (4-ohm), as well as 2-ohm stable in stereo.

Two-Channel (CEA 2006 Compliant): 170 watts x 2 channel RMS @ 4 ohms (20 Hz-20 kHz, 1% THD)
Two-Channel (2-ohm): 250 watts x 2 channel RMS (1 kHz, 0.08% THD)
Bridged (4-ohm): 500 watts x 1 channel RMS (1 kHz, 0.08% THD)
Peak Power: 500 watts x 2 channel (1,000 watts total max power)

Cast Aluminum Heat Sink: The Kenwood KAC7205 utilizes a cast aluminum heat sink design to ensure that the amplifier stays at its optimal temperature.

Fan Cooled: The KAC-7205 is equipped with two, rear panel-mounted cooling fans. One fan acts as an intake while the other serves as an exhaust to create a current of cooling air flowing through the inside of the amplifier.

Protection circuitry: The amplifier features protection circuits that will turn the amp off in case of the following events:

Speaker output contacts ground
Speaker wire short-circuits
Unit malfunctions and DC is sent to speaker output

Aluminum Cover Plate: The amplifier's controls and connections are hidden under a removable extruded aluminum cover plate. The cover plate provides a professional looking installing while helping to protect the amplifier's connections and control settings.

Blue/Red Illumination: The Kenwood two-channel amplifier features a blue and red LED illumination when the amplifier is turned on.

Signal-sensing Turn-On Circuitry: When the speaker-level input is used, it is not necessary to connect the power control wire (turn-on lead). The amplifier senses the signal from the speaker-level input and turns the amplifier power on automatically. Shortly after no signal is detected, the amplifier will automatically shut itself off.

Controls

Gain: To accommodate the varying range of signal levels coming from today's factory and aftermarket radios, the Kenwood KAC-7205 features an adjustable gain control (0.2-5.0V). This means that no matter what kind of radio is connected to this amplifier, the appropriate gain control adjustment can be made to ensure loud, clear, distortion-free music.

Low Pass Crossover (LPF): The Kenwood KAC-7205 is equipped with a variable low-pass crossover (24 dB/oct). The amplifier has a two-way filter switch, allowing you to choose low-pass (LPF) or full-range (Filter Off) operation. There is a rotary control for the Low Pass cutoff frequency, allowing you to set the LPF between 50 to 200 Hz.

Bass Boost: You can apply a bass boost of up to +18dB at 40Hz.

Connections

Power Connections: The power and ground connections are 0.5625" wide screw terminals that will accommodate up to 4-gauge wire. The remote turn-on terminal is 0.3125" wide and will accept up to 8-gauge wire. A Phillips-head or flat blade screw driver (not supplied) is required to tighten/loosen the terminals. Spade connectors are recommended for the power, ground, and remote wires.

Speaker Outputs: The Kenwood KAC-7205 is equipped with two pair of speaker terminals. All four speaker terminals are 0.3125" wide screw terminals and will accommodate up to 8-gauge wire. A Phillips-head or flat blade screw driver (not supplied) is required to tighten/loosen the terminals. Spade connectors are recommended for the speaker wires.

Note: The speaker output terminals can be used in stereo or bridged mode.

Line Level Input: The two-channel amplifier is equipped with a pair of gold-plated RCA line level inputs.

Speaker Level Input: The KAC-7205 comes with a two channel speaker level input harness. Once you splice the speaker wires from the receiver to the harness, you have plug-in convenience to the amplifier. This feature makes it easier to add an amplifier to a factory radio or to a receiver with no preamp outputs. The maximum power output from the source receiver can be no more than 40 watts.

Fuses: The KAC-7205 is equipped with two 30 amp ATC blade fuses.

i bought two of these amps for a great price and wired them up to two L5's at 2 ohms.
the thing is i drive a dodge mega cab but it is far louder then anything i have came
across in my day to day. Two of these guys and the right subs, no body can compare.
not to mention the low distortion and with a capacitor two can go all day. seriously i just
ran them hard on a road trip for 15 hours blasting the whole way and never got over
heated like my previous JL amps and Alpine amps. so needless to say im happy. just
shop around i paid well lest then $200 for two of them new.

This Amp is one of the best I have Own, It has two built in cooling fans which really helps
with cooling, and the power, if hooked up right is Amazing !!! A very good buy.

Nice Amp, glad I bought it!!!

I actually bought this amp from Crutchfield as a factory refurbish for an amazing price. I
am pushing two 10" bazookas in a box and the system sounds great without me
properly adjusting anything. I originally had it pushing one 12" Infinity (bridged) but there
was not much bass sound heard or felt. I put in the two 10" and now I can feel and hear
it. I think it was the trunk/car acoustics not the amp.

Not only does it sounds good and can do the job but I think it looks good as well. For
those who are like me and can figure out how to wire subs to 2ohm and stuff, just hook
up two 4ohms subs in stereo, 2channel, mode and your done. It has plenty of power to
run two subs unbridged.

Very good amp for the price. I got this amp bridged at 4 ohm powering my 12 in Kicker
L5. Even tho its being underpowered by about 100 watts or even more, its making my
L5 pound without frying or any other problems. My windows shake, and the seal of my
rear window cracked so rain leaks thru lol. Overall its a great amp and I would
recommend this amp to anyone, but a 12 in L5 is about as far as u can go in terms of
powering your subs, an L7 would just be stupid underpowered.

i had this amp on 2 12 inch kicker cvx's and it pounded hard very great amp for the price
built in cooling fans help it a ton recently got rid of the cvxs and downgraded to cvrs and it
still pounds hard great amp

Great Amp for the price!

I have this amp bridged at 500 watts RMS to my 12" JL Audio W3 and WOW! I'm amazed at how much power this thing can push out! This is my first amp and subwoofer so I don't have much to really compare it to, but I can't imagine being able to get a better amp for the price. My rearview mirrors shake and my insides jiggle haha! The amp does get warm if pushing it hard, but never gets hot. I've had the amp for 3 months now and have never once worried about it overheating.

If your considering getting this amp, then don't hesitate! You won't be disappointed, I promise! Definitely check to make sure that all the specs with your amp and sub match obviously, and if they do, then just do it! ;)

Pros:

Amazing power for the price.

Cons:

I honestly haven't found a single thing wrong with it. Everything seems to be perfect (for what it is of course)

i bought this amp 3 months ago to power a polk dxi through the high input harness and man this thing hits nice with no distortion whatsoever. i even after two plus hours it doesnt get hot or anything very impressive

Pros:

fans, cool lighting, price variable low pass filter, high inputs

Cons:

the refurb did have some cosmetic scratches.

Kenwood 7205 Amp

Kenwood is pushing 2 Kicker 12s in a spacy sealed box. You can hear the car coming a mile away. I need more power to my 4 6 3/4" Kicker speakers because I have to much bass now. My K20 Kicker tweeters are great but I am upgrading to Focals at 95db. Very happy all the way around.

Pros:

Enough power for two kicker subs

Cons:

had to keep modifying ground. Hard to find a good ground spot on the accord in the trunk.
