Kenwood engineers use a cooling fan and diecast aluminum heatsink to dissipate heat, so your amp stays cooler and sounds better. Unique circuitry analyzes the signal coming back from your speakers, then eliminates unwanted overtones and harmonics for a cleaner sound.
The KAC-X1R subwoofer amplifier powers your subwoofer system with up to 1200 watts RMS, plenty of power for your music's low end. The switchable infrasonic filter removes extreme low bass that can hamper your sub's performance, while the variable low-pass filter maximizes the impact of your sub in your vehicle.

My system has plenty of power. Who needs an amp?
You might think you don't need an amp because you have a 400-watt system in your car, or because your new stereo puts out 50 watts a channel. But those are peak wattage ratings, which may boil down to 15 or 20 watts per channel, using the more realistic RMS rating. An amp sends your speakers the power they need to deliver your music with clarity and impact, whether you're using factory speakers or high-performance components. And low-frequency reproduction requires lots of power, so an amp is an absolute must if you're adding a sub to your system.

This amp is an outstanding amp. I first bought the KAC-X10D, but it didn't put out the power needed to handle my 12' subs, so I decided to step it with this one. Talk about bass, power, and quality! I can't even begin to say how much I love this amp. If you are looking for an amp that will hold 1200 RMS x 1 at 2ohms easy, I promise, with this amp you won't regret it.

I recently purchased this amp, Im bumping a rockford fosgate p3 500rms (250 per coil)but im delivering to the sub 600w at 4ohm, with another p3 on the way. It hits pretty good, but it's not enough, you have to have two subs to ensure satisfaction and have some serious bass. I have already tested it with two kicker L5's which require 600rms per sub, 1200 peak, the kenwood was delivering 1200wats,600w to each kicker and im telling you, if you're going to get a sub, get the kicker's L5's and this amp, the combo bump so hard..it became embarrassing at the stop light, seriously. I had to turn it down.. too many people starring for me.. and consider this i put them in a small car, in a burban youd surely be thumping like crazy.

i have this amp hooked up to a 10" Kicker CVX wired to 1 ohm. I know the speaker is overpowered but i figured the amp was probably overrated because its a kenwood. Anyways it hits pretty hard with this amp as long as you get the remote to turn up the bass. I've always bought either kicker or rockford amps but i got a good deal on this one. I was worried about it clipping or overheating but it hasn't done either yet. So far it seems like a good amp. Draws a lot of current at 1 ohm too so make sure you have a cap.

I purchased one of these amps and hooked it up to 2 Kenwood KFC-W3514DVC subs. Talk about LOUD! Most people that have heard this setup have said that my two subs pound harder than a guy with 3 solobaric L7 10s. I hooked up at 2 ohms, running 1200watts to the subs, max. We estimated nominal output to be around 600w nominal with the way everything is wired and the volumes I'm using. with a future purchase of an additional amp and two more subs, I should be ready to get into a competition within a couple of months.
Certainly recommend this amp. Clean sound, great power, cool design. Just get it!!!

CEA-2006 Compliant: CEA-2006 is a new system of testing & measurement methods for mobile audio amplifiers. This voluntary standard advocates a uniform method for determining an amplifier's RMS power output and signal-to-noise ratio. The criteria for measuring power uses a DC input voltage of 14.4 volts and the RMS power output is measured into a 4-ohm load, with 1% or less Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) plus noise, and at a frequency range of 20 Hz to 20,000Hz, when applicable. Signal-to-Noise ratio is measured in weighted absolute decibels (dBA) at a reference of 1 watt into 4 ohms. CEA-2006 allows consumers to compare car amplifiers and receivers on an equal basis. The Kenwood KAC-X1R under CEA-2006 regulations is rated at 600 Watts RMS x 1 channel with a 80dBA signal to noise ratio.
Mono-Power Amp Design: The Kenwood KAC-X1R is designed with specific features to power your subwoofers with a frequency range between 5 to 400 Hz. This amplifier is not designed to power a full-range speaker.
1-Ohm Stable: The Kenwood class D mono-amplifier is capable of handling load impedances down to 1-ohm. The amplifier is rated at 1,200 Watts RMS x 1 channel in 2 ohms at 100Hz with 0.5% THD. The amp is rated at over 1,000 Watts RMS x 1 channel in a 1ohm load.
Class D Amplifier Design: The KAC-X1R is a Class D mono-block amplifier, which uses digital switching to amplify audio signals. This design results in high efficiency and less heat.
MOS-FET Switching Power Supply: The amplifier utilizes a MOS-FET switching power supply providing thermal stability and efficient switching speeds guaranteeing performance and dependability
Dressing Cover: The Kenwood KAC-X1R features and attractive brushed aluminum hairline top plate and a removable top aluminum cover that conceals all of its controls and set-screws for the power, ground, and turn-on lead terminals. This provides a very clean look as well as protects the amplifier's controls from being accidentally changed. The cover is held in place by two hex head screws. An allen-wrench is supplied to remove the cover.
Digital Display: The KAC-X1R features a high-performance 14-segment, 5-digit blue florescent display that displays in the center window of the top aluminum cover plate. The digital display uses a rotary dial to select the display mode. You can choose from the following display modes.
- Voltage: indicates the source voltage
- Current: indicates the current consumption
- Temperature: indicates the internal temperature (you can select between Fahrenheit or Centigrade)
- Demo: you can choose On or Off (when set to On the Voltage, Current and Temperature items are displayed repeatedly)
Dual E Sigma Drive: Kenwood's Dual E Sigma Drive provides a bridged output with an excellent damping factor that allow the amplifier to pump out an extraordinary amount of high-fidelity power.
Dual Power Supply: The KAC-X1R utilizes a dual power supply with two transformers and a cast aluminum heat sink to ensure steady operation even when the positive and negative loads are unstable.
Parallel Connection: The amplifier is equipped with two pairs of full-contact speaker terminals for an easy parallel subwoofer connection.
Variable Low-Pass Filter: The KAC-X1R has a built-in -24dB/octave low-pass filter that is continuously variable from 40Hz to 200Hz. You can turn the Low-pass filter On or Off.
Infrasonic Filter: This amp features an -24dB/octave Infrasonic Filter. Ultra-low frequencies that cannot be reproduced by a subwoofer do not become sound but become unnecessary oscillations, which affect sound by causing distortion. These frequencies also waste amplifier power and can cause damage to speakers. Setting the Infrasonic filter from 15Hz to 60Hz cuts the frequencies below the respective frequency to improve the reproduction performance of the speakers by eliminating harmful distortion.
Phase Inverter: The amp has a switch that allows you to invert the phase of the speaker output. You can select 0° or 180°.
Band Reject Filter: The Band Reject Filter can solve the problems of resonance or unclear sound with minimum influence on the sound quality because it eliminates only the frequencies causing resonance or standing waves. You can select the variable Band Reject Filter to be set anywhere from 40 to 200Hz with a -12dB or -6dB slope.
Line Level Inputs: The one set of gold plated RCA type line-level inputs have a gain (Input Sensitivity) control. The Input Sensitivity control will accept an input signal of 200mV to 5.0 Volts.
Line Level Output: The amplifier has a set of gold-plated line level outputs for feeding a stereo signal to another amplifier. There is a Line Out Filter switch on the amplifier that allows you to set the Line Output RCAs of the amp to have no effects from the amplifiers settings or you can set the Line Output to carry the same low-pass filter, inputs sensitivity and bass boost settings to your second amplifier.
Remote Terminal: The KAC-X1R has a remote terminal jack that is compatible with the Kenwood Bass Boost Wired Remote Controller (KCA-WR10, sold separately). The optional wired remote allows you to have independent bass boost control of the amplifier in your system. Using the optional KCA-WR10 you can set the variable Bass Boost Circuit to 0 to 18 dB and the variable Bass Boost Frequency to 40 to 100 Hz.
Power Indicator: When the power is turned on to the amplifier, the Power indicator will light up. This indicator will turn off with the amplifier and will turn off if the amplifier goes into protect mode.
Protection circuitry: The amplifier features protection circuits that will turn the amp off in case of the following events to protect the amplifier and your speakers:
- Speaker output contacts ground
- Speaker wire short-circuits
- Unit malfunctions and DC is sent to speaker output
- Internal temperature is too high
- Voltage is outside of the operating range
Top of the Amplifier: The following amplifier's controls are found on top of the amp under the removable dressing cover.

Front of the Amplifier: All of the amplifier's connections are found on the front of the amp. The amplifier's dressing cover must be removed to access the set-screws for the amplifier's power, ground, turn-on, and speaker terminals.
