Overview Details Customer Reviews Category Info Our take on the Kenwood KCA-IP302 iPod® cable by Ken Nail Why would I need an iPod® adapter? An iPod adapter allows you to connect your iPod to your car stereo, then access your playlists with your stereo's controls - a great idea for several reasons. One, you can scroll through your song titles on your stereo's larger display, instead of squinting down at your iPod. Two, you can route the adapter cable to your glove compartment or center console, so your iPod stays safely out of sight. Three, the iPod adapter keeps your iPod fully charged, so it's ready to rock when you leave your car. And last of all, some adapters bypass your iPod's internal digital-to-analog converter, using your stereo's superior DAC to turn your files back into music. Kenwood's KCA-iP302 cable connects your compatible iPod or iPhone® to select 2011-up Kenwood multimedia receivers with a USB input, plus separate audio and video 3.5mm mini-jack inputs. This cable allows you to control your iPod content with the Kenwood's controls, and it charge your device as you drive. Once connected, you'll enjoy listening to your music when you're on the road, and viewing video content when parked. This cable currently works with Kenwood's DNX9980HD, KVT-696, and KVT-516 receivers. Warranty: 1 year. Hands-on research from the Crutchfield Labs (what are the Labs?) It not only worked with my iPhone 4, but also my iPad (I haven't tried and iPad 2). It not only plays music, but also video, as long as the video is accessible via iPod app. It will not play other video, for example it won't play YouTube videos. The iPhone / iPad will indicate on it's own screen that a TV is connected and playing the video, but there is no reaction from the receiver. I believe this to be a limitation of the software in my particular Kenwood receiver, and not the cable connector.. 5 out of 7 people found this helpful Was this review helpful?
