Like all Kenwood stereos, the Kenwood Excelon KDC-X689 CD player gives you good looks and great sound. But you also get some peace of mind, thanks to its D-Mask+ faceplate. When you turn off your car, this motorized face rotates to hide its fluorescent display behind a blank, black panel it looks like you've removed the faceplate entirely (which you can still do, for even more security).
Nobody listens to just CDs and the radio anymore, and this stereo will accommodate nearly every taste. It'll play the discs you've loaded with MP3 and WMA files, and even the iTunes AAC files you've ripped from your CDs (AAC files bought from the iTunes® store can't be played).
Kenwood's innovative AC Drive allows you to navigate through your digital music files and folders quickly and safely. A built-in voice guide announces the names of your music files as you scroll through them. It simplifies the process of finding your favorite songs, and lets you keep your eyes on the road. The included software adapts your files to the AC Drive system.
The dynamic built-in amplifier will make sure your music sounds full and strong. Tweak six different preset sound curves and adjust the sophisticated parametric equalizer until the music sounds just right for your car. You won't have to worry about losing your audio settings if your battery gets disconnected Installer memory saves them, and lets you recall them in an instant.
The KDC-X689 welcomes plenty of add-ons for even more entertainment. Bring along your iPod and control it with the stereo using Kenwood's iPod interface control (sold separately). Satellite radio is all the rage, and this stereo will work with either a SIRIUS or an XM radio to bring you the best over-the-air entertainment around.
You can also connect an HD Radio tuner and, where available, enjoy this growing technology. It makes FM sound nearly like CDs, and AM sound almost like FM, and it offers extra text information you don't get with standard radio. Three sets of 5-volt preamp outputs send a clean signal to any external amplifiers you connect, giving your system the extra push you'll enjoy.
