Kenwood's Performance Series speakers deliver the full range of your music with their multi-driver designs. The woofer cone features a Diamond Array pattern that increases the strength of its surface, improving bass response as well as reducing internal vibrations and other distortions. Kenwood's Image Enhancer 4 directs the sound emanating from the midrange drivers and tweeters, blending their signals to give a clean, well-defined focus to your musical soundstage. You'll hear smoother vocals, wider "sweet spot" dispersion, and less distortion.

The KFC-1693PS 6-1/2" 3-way speakers employ polypropylene woofer cones to reproduce your lower frequencies with accuracy and strength. The treated urethane foam surround resists weathering and provides reliable support that keeps your music playing, no matter what. A water-resistant paper cone midrange and a flat ceramic tweeter take care of the upper frequencies to complete the all-round coverage that lets your music stretch out and come alive.

Just replacing facory speakers right now. Plan to put some amp power to them in the future. They sound pretty great with the factory system right now.

The literature that comes with the speakers that Crutchfield provides, is helpful as it provides accurate installation hints. The speaker brackets are easy to mount to the speakers and are installed on the door panels easily. The speakers provided an immediate sound difference from the stock speakers. The 3-way speakers provide a sound quality that I am more than satisfied with for the money spent.

These speakers fit just like Lyle said they would and exactly as the installation instructions showed. I very happy that I chose Crutchfield for my purchase as they made the decision very simple. I'm 67 years old and it took me about an hour to install all 4 speakers in my truck. They are not bass thumpers, but I'm not trying to impress anyone but myself. They sound great for the variety of music I listen to.

Pros: Easy to install. Great price. Great value.

Awesome speakers for the money

Written by: DPugh from Murfreesboro, TN on January 29, 2012

these are an awesome set of speakers i had them pushing at roughly 35 watts rms 50 watts max and i used them as the highs for my radio so they were tuned to 120-25,000 hz but even when i decided to see how much bass they had they sound very good i would suggest not letting them go lower than 80 hz for the maximum life of the speaker and throw a single 10 or 12 in the trunk for the best all around sound again they are great and i couldn't have been more happier in my opinion i think they sound better than polk audio

Pros: great for mids and highs

Cons: not so great on the lower end of the bass spectrum

Good, but not too much bass.

I got these speakers along with a Kenwood KDC BT945U headunit as a graduation present. Overall, the speakers sound much better than the factory system in my 2005 Toyota Tundra Double cab (not with the JBL Premium Audio package). These speakers don't put out much bass, but the stock system in the Tundra basically had no bass even when turned up all the way, so I really can't complain.

Pros: Great improvement over factory system

Cons: Not much bass

Good speakers for the money

Written by: Adamm from South TX on November 23, 2011

I bought these on sale. Got them to replace the blow Infinity speakers in my 01 Durango SLT Plus. These are a 3 way..not sure if I should have got a 2 way as I have the premium sound in my truck.

Speakers sounded decent with the OEM stereo - But after I bought my MP445U Kenwood stereo they are crisp and clear. The bass is perfect for me, though I have the bass nearly all the way up.

I recently got an infinity amp bypass cable so the speakers would be powered by my Kenwood head unit (My stock infinity amp is 2ohm, speakers are 4ohm). Well when the bypass went in, it sounded very weak and no bass what-so-ever. So I hooked the amp back up.

End of the day, sound great with an external amp behind them! Highly recomended.

Pros: Good Quality, Looks good, Sounds good

Very good speakers sound is crisp and clean. With the other reviews I do wish they had a little more bass to them but overall they hit my expectations.

Pros: Good sounding speakers

I recently purchased a full set of these speakers. I personally believe they make
very good sound for a mid range cost speaker! A friend is running the new infinity
kappas, and I think they sound just as good for half the price.

Over all these speakers are great with a sub they complement the bass
beautifully the only reason i gave it a 4 out of 5 is because with an amp they
would sound even better and i plan on getting one asap. Over all good speaker.
Much better than a 1 or 2. I would recommend them to any one with a sub.

Super Clean

Super clean, with very clean bass notes. i have owned more expensive speaker and am
very surprised that these are cleaner and more accurate than speaker costing 5 times
more. I would recommend this for any type of music style.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers definitely made no improvements in comparison to the stock speakers; both have no bass. I use dynamat, with these new speakers, but no difference. Next, I will build a box for each speaker and stuff them with some Polyfill, then hope for the best.

Where's the Bass?

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I recently purchased these speakers to replace some factory speakers in my car. However when i installed them they worked pretty much like tweeters. There was absolutely no lower end. I don't expect a set of speakers to give me the power of a sub but i do expect to hear a little bit outside of the tweeter. I would not recommend these speakers to anyone.

Image Enhancer: The KFC-1693PS is equipped with Kenwood's Image Enhancer 4 surrounding the tweeters. Its smooth rounded surface eliminates most of the reflected sound waves that would interfere with the direct sound waves coming from the tweeters. The end result is a better dispersion pattern, less distortion, and clear high-frequency reproduction.

Cone Woofers: The woofer cones are textured Polypropylene with foam surrounds. Polypropylene woofers are resistant to moisture and temperature extremes found in automotive applications.

Tweeters: Each speaker has a 1-9/16" cone tweeter and a 1/2" ceramic, flat super-tweeter for added high frequency reproduction.

Applications: The Kenwood KFC-1693PS can be used in standard 3-hole 6-1/2 installations, 4-hole 6-1/2 installations (common in Fords), and 6-3/4 installations.
