Why replace your car's original speakers?

The speakers that originally came in your car were made from inexpensive materials, designed to create acceptable sound at the lowest possible cost to the manufacturer. If you love music, you deserve better. Name-brand aftermarket speakers deliver fuller, richer sound with considerably more detail and nuance, and they're capable of playing louder and cleaner than factory speakers. Connect new speakers to your factory radio and you'll get the best possible sound from your dealer-equipped system. Pair them up with a new car stereo for a level of enjoyment that can rival a high-fidelity home audio experience.

I got these speakers at a great price! I really like the 3-way design; gives better mids and highs than my factory speakers. Make sure you use speaker setup to maximize the sound.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Speakers themselves were easy to install, took a bit to figure out my vehicles factory wiring due to the Infinity upgrade on my '99 Dodge Ram, but, once that was done, quick install, speakers sound WAY better than what I replaced.

Pros: Sounds great

Cons: None yet ...

Not much to say in particular. Wish they were a tad more bassy, but they work well and installed easily.

Pros: Easy install, sound is well within expectations

Cons: Wish they were a tad more bassy (is that a word?)

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

One of the better speakers out there. Can't ask for anything better right now. I'm satisfied.

Pros: Having it mated to the factory stereo is working pretty well. It's loud but not as loud as I'd like, but that's because of the lack of power. Great highs though, crisp and loud.

Cons: No cons thus far. I have it mated to the factory stereo (aka no power), so I dunno what the cons would be as yet!

I used these speakers to replace the factory speakers in my 01 Nissan Frontier. The difference is wonderful. The new speakers are much better than stock speakers. The Installation was very easy thanks to the wiring kit and the door panel removal instructions provided with the speakers.

2007 Toyota Matrix
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed these speakers in the front panels of my Toyota Matrix. I have a Sony Xplod MEX-BT2900 receiver with an RMS of 17 watts and a peak of 52 watts, so these speakers should operate well within the limits of power output. Unfortunately the right speaker started to distort and go out within a few days, and 2 months later it is completely dead. The left speaker is beginning to follow suit after just 3 months installed. I will never buy a Kenwood product again.

They work....just not at a loud level

Written by: Majorhi from Wilsonville,OR on March 7, 2013

Installed easily in the rear doors of my car with the adapter brackets and wiring plug. Has decent sound at low levels. Sounds better than the broken non working factory speakers they replaced.

Pros: Quick install and fit as they should. Decent sound at conversation volume.

Cons: Can't handle the Monsoon systems power in my 2000 Jetta at levels louder than just above road noise.

Mounted four of these in the doors( 2 front and 2 rear) of a Tundra Crewmax. They sound great and handle the higher RMS with the amplifier for a very clear and crisp sound quality. Use the rear mounting brackets and invert them with longer bolts for easy installation.

I bought a set of four KFC-1694PS car speakers to replace the factory ones of my daughters 2005 Chevy Cobalt. This Kenwood is a great quality speaker with an excellent overall sound, virtually no distortion also at higher volume levels, powerful bass - my daughter loves the new sound! Easy installation thanks to the excellent Crutchfield how to install manual and included GM wire adapters and adapter frames!

Pros: "3-Way to go" Excellent speaker at an attractive price level

Cons: None

These replaced the original speakers in the truck I am giving my 16 yr old. The sound is excellent. No distortion with many different types of music and with the radio turned up all of the way. With bass boost turned on, the sound was still better than expected. Good deep sound.

Pros: 3-way with good sound reproduction from high frequencies to the low frequencies. Speakers fit perfectly in the factory speaker mounts.

Cons: none

Product Research

Cone Woofers: The woofer cones are textured Polypropylene with urethane surrounds. Polypropylene woofers are resistant to the moisture and temperature extremes found in automotive applications.

Tweeters: Each speaker has a 1-9/16" cone tweeter and a 1/2" ceramic, flat super-tweeter for added high frequency reproduction.

Mounting: The KFC-1694PS will fit in in standard three-hole and four-hole 6-1/2 applications. They can also be easily mounted in 6-3/4 applications, but because the extra screw holes create an air leak in the larger opening, speaker baffles must be used.
