Kenwood's Performance Series speakers deliver the full range of your music with their multi-driver designs. The woofer cone features a Diamond Array pattern that increases the strength of its surface, improving bass response as well as reducing internal vibrations and other distortions. Kenwood's Image Enhancer 4 directs the sound emanating from the midrange drivers and tweeters, blending their signals to give a clean, well-defined focus to your musical soundstage. You'll hear smoother vocals, wider "sweet spot" dispersion, and less distortion.

The KFC-C6893PS 6"x8" 3-way speakers employ polypropylene woofer cones to reproduce your lower frequencies with accuracy and strength. The rubber surround resists weathering and provides reliable support that keeps your music playing, no matter what. A 1-3/16" balanced-dome tweeter and a smaller flat ceramic tweeter take care of the upper frequencies to complete the all-round coverage that lets your music stretch out and come alive. Grilles are not included — factory grilles are appropriate for most installations.

The speakers that originally came in your car were made from inexpensive materials, designed to create acceptable sound at the lowest possible cost to the manufacturer. If you love music, you deserve better. Name-brand aftermarket speakers deliver fuller, richer sound with considerably more detail and nuance, and they're capable of playing louder and cleaner than factory speakers. Connect new speakers to your factory radio and you'll get the best possible sound from your dealer-equipped system. Pair them up with a new car stereo for a level of enjoyment that can rival a high-fidelity home audio experience.

Great speakers

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great speakers for the price.

Pros: Sound great good mid range bass

Not that good

Written By Adjuster, Atlanta on Friday, March 02, 2012

I bought 2 pair of these and I have only had them over 1 year. My right door speaker tweeter is now rattling like it is blown. I am now in the market for new. I suggest you move on from this. You might get a good pair you might not. I got a 50/50 as the pair in the rear work like they should.

Pros: Great price.

Cons: Not very reliable.

Solid Sounding!

Man oh man what a great speaker. Before i bought it i switched between alpine speakers and kenwood. And people dont think twice! They are an awesome speaker.. These speakers should be worth 100 bucks because theyre great!! 5 Stars!!

Pros: Beautiful crisp quality with awesome bass!

Cons: Low treble when radio is turned down..

great sounding speakers. i just put them on my 2011 ford edge. they fit perfect. no modifications needed. the included speaker harness saves a lot of time and since im on a lease i can take them off and not cut any wires. made the install easy. i work at a ford dealer so i got instructions from tech on how to remove door panel. speaker sound great. better highs and better and clearer bass. im only going to give them 4 stars for now because im going to get the top of the line 6x8 pioneer and see if those are better somehow. else its 5 star.

Pros: they fit perfect in factory holes. look really good.

Cons: wouldn't mind if the signal to noise ration was higher like the pioneers. not a big deal thougn.

Should have done it years ago

Written By Frans, FL on Wednesday, November 23, 2011

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The speakers in my car were over 10 years old and the surround on one was starting to go so high time for replacements, and for the extra $15 off per pair I couldn't pass these up.

Installation was pretty painless and they sound crisp and clear. Should have done this years ago.

The only gripe is that their efficiency is a bit lower than that of the Pioneer TS-A5715 they replaced, and so are not quite as loud, but nothing an extra notch on the volume control can't fix.

Pros: Sound great

Cons: A little bit softer than old speakers

Great speakers! Love the sound quality. Have four of these in my 2002 Crown Victoria, and ordering another set for my 1999 Mustang GT that I just bought. Mine are powered by a Kenwood Excelon KDC-X994 (which is a great head unit) and I love the sound quality. Easy installation with Crutchfield's master sheets, you cannot go wrong with these speakers!

Pros: Great sound!

Cons: They weren't free.

kenwood speakers

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers are great. I replaced the old factory door speakers in a 2002 mazda protege. (apparently mazda used pioneer speakers for my car) They are quite a bit louder overall and sound soooooo much better. I have an older KDC MP535U head unit, an 8104D amp, two of the 2511 10" subs from a couple years ago, the 4 way 6x9's, and these. Everything sounds great even without an amp on the speakers.

The only major thing I have to say is don't get aftermarket speakers and expect more bass sound than your factory speakers. The way speakers like this are build is for an overall sound quality. If you want bass get a subwoofer, just like anybody else will tell you.

One more note. all of the Kenwood speakers sound twice as good on a decent 50 watt 4 channel amp. good luck and hope they are nice for you too.

Pros: They sound clean and get quite loud.

Cons: less bass than the stock speakers, but i knew and expected that before purchase.

The difference in sound between the Kenwood KFC-C6893PS speakers and stock in my 2007 f 150 is tremendous. It makes the back OEM speakers sound like they are under water. Maybe not that bad but I will definitely be replacing them to. Over all good speaker for the price and Crutchfield made the install easy with provided install guide and free wiring adapter!

Great Sound

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Makes a huge difference. Worth the time and investment. I replaced my front speakers in my 2010 Mustang and can really hear the difference the upgrade made. I may be a computer guy, but I don't like working with electronics and wiring. This was a pretty easy install with some on-line instructions I found from another source to remove the door panels. Rear speakers are a different matter. I'll need to remove the entire rear interior of my car to get at the speakers back there! What's wrong with making the rear speakers accessible from the trunk Ford?! Even with the added difficulty, I'm really considering replacing the rear speakers as well.

Great speakers for the money

I paired these with a Kenwood 60w amp and they sound very nice. The bass distorted a litte at first until I got everything tweeked. I listent to a lot of 80's rock and these speakers fit my personal sound tastes.

Sounding better after a little break in.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed a set of these speakers with the Jensen VM9324 head unit in my 2004 ford f-150. The speakers is loud and handles power well. But, between the head unit and speakers. The sound is not as full and warm as like. The highs seem fake and tinty. At first the bass seems weak, but over time with break in. The low end is getting better. The tone setting on my head unit is very limited and I believe with a better head unit. The speaker may sound better.

I put 4 of these in my wife's Ford Explorer they fit perfectly. Free installation wire harnesses and instructions helped had all 4 speakers installed in under an hour. Sound is so much better than the 10 year old factory speakers. Thought price was a little high but worth it to have Crutchfield's excellent customer service and warranty backing.

I installed 2 sets of these with in my F150 and the sound great. My only regret
is not doing it sooner. The sound is great and very strong. I have a 4 channel
Sony amp running the 2 pair and then a Fosgate running my 12" sub. I
cannot believe the sound. Great for the money. You should own a pair.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

At first I was disappointed because, although they were clearer than the stock
speakers, they just didn't rock like I thought they would. I then upgraded my stereo
(Sony CDXGT650UI) which has an equalizer and loudness option, and now I am
very happy. With this stereo, they have good bass, so I am wondering now if I really
want to spend the extra on a subwoofer. I am also debating about getting an amp
to boost them because they are quite loud and clear and I'm not sure if I would
enjoy them more if they were even louder. The performance vs. price makes these
speakers a good value in my opinion.

Great Sound (up to 40 continuous watts)

Written By Ahthur, Jackson, MI on Monday, April 25, 2011

Powered with a 700watt Kenwood amp and adjusting the Hz cutoffs correctly (at 80Hz and above), I was able to yield a very good sound up to 40 watts. At about 2/3 volume with the amp I noted distortion on the low and very high end.

However, if you don't have the ability to adjust the cuttoff above 80Hz to these speakers, you will instantly note distortion on the low end, especially if you have to use a Bass Boost feature.
All in all, this is a great speaker that fits direct into any Ford/Mazda. If you're bent on having quality sound at the bass levels you will need to supplement these with a sub as they do fall very short in this area (as I've heard many other 5x8/6x9 that handle twice as much as these.)

Just what I was looking for

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Nice speakers - they sound great. I packaged them with a Kenwood HU and
got the additional $50 off - overall great deal, including all the installation kits
and adaptors, with free shipping. Sound from these, just powered by the
Kenwood HU, is very impressive. Bass is suprising given the limited power
and compact size, and they get plenty loud. Had to drill a couple of extra holes
to mount them in the front doors of our 2001 Crown Vic, but that's no big deal. I
will be adding a 4x50w amp shortly, (and a sub), but it already sounds 100%
better than the stock system for 2 1/2 bills shipped. I've had nice splits up front
before (6 1/2" Orion HCCA), and TBH I really don't hear a huge advantage over
a decent set of coaxials like these, plus installation is so much easier. Good
job Kenwood and Crutchfield.

About 1 month after installing a Kenwood Excelon 9960 and a back-up camera, I could not take listening to the factory Ford speakers any longer and purchased 2 sets of Kenwood KFC-C6893PS's 3-way speakers for my Ford Explorer. I would also highly recommend purchasing the speaker "boots". It took me about one hour to take out the factory speakers and install all 4 new speakers and about another 20 minutes to reset all of the audio settings in the Kenwood Excelon head unit. I was pleasantly surprised at the difference between factory speaker and the Kenwood speaker performance. I knew that the Kenwood speakers would sound much better, but was pleasantly surprised at how much better. Now all I need is an amplifier and subwoofer!

bought several things at once same review for each item. I am a very hard
person to please and I am very please. I am not sure if I am happier with my
items or Clutchfield as a company. The Kenwood stereo and speakers are great! I
will be giving the Onkyo receiver and amp for Christmas, but I could have bought
them anywhere. I choose to spend my money with Clutchfield. They have put a
lot of time, effort and expense into making videos to help us understand how to
get the most for our money and what we need. I didn't think companies like this
were still in business. I needed wiring help on my car stereo (the end plug had
been cut off) they had the wiring diagram I could not find online. Everything I
needed to install my car stereo and speaker (special connectors and kits) was
exactly right and it was free!
No pressure to buy or to buy the high end. I called for advice and was given
excellence advice. Here is an ex; I thought I would need an amp for my car b/c
I blow the speakers in my new Kia. The tech advised me not to buy an amp right
away. She said my new stereo and speakers were better and felt I would not need
one. If I got setup and still felt I needed one add it then? She was right I
did not need an amp, saved me money. Most people do not believe I can be
satisfied, well I am! I have told everyone I know, if I need anything else I
will be buying it from clutchfield.

sound 75% better than the stock Ford premium sound speakers.

I cannot comment on the bass as I have an Infinity Basslink that I purchased from

Well I have to say I was a skeptic at first. Although I know Kenwood has been around a
long time, this was my first Kenwood purchase. I have to say I am VERY pleasently
suprised!! These things sound awesome! Even on the factory deck (will be changing
soon) they are at least 300% louder than the factory speakers, and I can get them up to
100% volume and they are still crisp and clear. They really provide a lot of treble/highs
and I had to turn the treble down considerably. Overall I would definitely buy these again,

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I put these in the rear doors of a '03 Ranger p/u - not the greatest set up for any speaker
and they perform admirably. I'd give them a 5 star rating but I don't think any speaker
could do that in that spot. The treble response is great but the bass a little muddled -
almost certainly due to the way the door enclosure is set up. There are LARGE holes in
the inner door frame that do nothing to help the sound. So I'll stick with a 4 star rating in
my application. Definitely not a knock on the speakers themselves though. One other
unusual note - they come packaged in such a way that only running them over would
damage them. Someone took great care to make sure you get them in A-1 condition.
Can't beat that with a stick!

I bought replacements for both the front and rear doors, but have only installed the fronts so far. Got to try out using the fade control and hear the actual difference live and not just from memory. The sound on the Kenwoods is fantastic, and they aren't a lot of money, either. Crutchfield tech support helped me figure out how to take the door panels off. They even emailed me instructions on the spot. I was also impressed by Crutchfield even emailing me to let me know my order had been DELIVERED. Most places just tell ya when it's shipped and that's the end of it. Between the great service, support, and price, there is no excuse to keep tolerating OEM speakers. Order some and get 'em in there. You won't regret it.

These speakers look great and sound great. They are easy to install and have great quality. The only con i can think of is that if you are looking for bone shaking bass these might not be the speakers for you but they still have good bass.

2005 F-150 speaker upgrade

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Just replaced my 5 year old stock speakers in my F-150. These speakers sound so
much clearer compared to the stock units. I realize that I can get better sound from these
speakers with an aftermarket unit but don't won't to give up my in dash 6 disk changer
and steering wheel controls just yet.

My next addition will most likely be a sub to help add a little bottom end. The location of
the speakers don't allow for much bass response but they still sound at least 10 times
better than stock.

Replaced the factory speakers in 2008 F350 with these and it sounds so much better.
Given that i have only the front done so far, the response is so much better. I can turn the
music up and have all windows down and actually hear with clarity every word. The
locations of the speaker do not allow for great bass response, but these speakers are
300% better than the factory.

Great Upgrade

I am very happy with these speakers and with Crutchfield's fast shipping. I replaced the stock speakers in my 2003 Ford Focus ZX3. Having to remove the entire panel just to switch out the speakers was a pain, but the included wire harness made the actual speaker swap super easy. Even through the stock head unit, they sound amazing!!! I just did the rear speakers this time but if they ever get some more in stock, I'll buy two more for the front.

2010 Ford Mustang Install

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I recently installed this in my 2010 Mustang, and they sound great. I am using the
Shaker 500 system, which has enough power to provide clean and clear sound with
good bass response. Although the rear deck install was very time consuming, the
Mastersheets from the 2005-2009 mustang are close enough to finish the project. The
sound in the car has a very significant improvement and I now want to drive anywhere
just to listen to the awesome sound from these speakers! Definitely suggest this
speaker to work with the Shaker units and also keep a the budget under control for
better sound.

When I have upgraded audio systems in the past I overlooked Kenwood as a option for speakers. With Pioneer, Infinity, and Rockford Fosgate speakers in my other vehicles this one tops them all without a second listen. You get pure quality sound the way music was intended to be listened to with this great set of speakers. Crutchfield included the speakers harnesses free which made installs extremely quick and easy, 45 minutes with 4 speakers and a new head unit. The other plus with these is they fit in all of my Ford vehicles being 6x8s. The sound coming out of these has amazed me every time i get into my truck since the install.

I have owned and listened to quite a few sets of speakers from many other manufacturers and these are in a league of their own.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I replaced the factory speakers in my 2008 Ford Mustang. The original equipment was tired and worn out. I replaced the head unit immediately after buying the car brand new. I had a Kenwood sub and amp installed and thought it would suffice for the time being, I was wrong. I purchased 2 sets of these and installed them myself. I have to say, the front speakers were a piece of cake, the back however, was a nightmare. Without Crutchfield, I wouldn't have been able to put these in. You guys saved me my sanity! With it all said and done. I have my complete Kenwood sound system and I look for any reason to drive somewhere so I can grab my ipod and i'm out the door! Honestly, it's like listening to brand new songs every time. The highs are crisp and clear, the lows are true and outstanding without distortion. I'm so happy with my purchase, I would even go through the nightmare of installation of rear speakers in a mustang again!

I replaced the rear speakers in my 1993 Merc Sable. These are a perfect fit and with the included wiring harnesses installation was a snap. They go great with the new Kenwood Stereo I also bought. The sound is clean and crisp. I am just getting used to the new stereo and already the sound from these speakers is outstanding. Thanks, Crutchfield.

Bought two of these for the rear deck in a 2004 Ford Taurus SES Sedan. Huge
improvement over the stock speakers while still using the stock stereo They fit
perfectly in place of the stock speakers and sound great. These are great
speakers if you are looking for an upgrade over stock with clear highs and mids
and moderate bass that won't rattle the car. I will now be purchasing two more
for the front as the front stock speakers have been overpowered by the sound of

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Threw these in my old man car to replace the factory speakers and there is an obvious difference. Of course the help at Crutchfield is awesome. The install went pretty smoothly with the only issue being the foam baffles that were recommended won't allow the power windows to completely clear. Perhaps I did not apply them correctly, but they are really deep and unfortunately rub against the window as it goes down and up. It does not prevent the window from operating, but it does offer resistance.
I'm happy with this product considering the limited options that were available for this old man car. I think there were three 3-way 6x8's that would fit properly.

Image Enhancer: The KFC-6893PS is equipped with Kenwood's Image Enhancer 4 surrounding the tweeters. Its smooth rounded surface eliminates most of the reflected sound waves that would interfere with the direct sound waves coming from the tweeters. The end result is a better dispersion pattern, less distortion, and clear high-frequency reproduction.

Cone Woofers: The woofer cones are textured Polypropylene with rubber surrounds. Polypropylene woofers are resistant to moisture and temperature extremes found in automotive applications.

Midrange: Each speaker has a 1-3/16" PEI balanced dome midrange. A semi-dome has a dome placed inside a cone. Balanced dome drivers are semi-dome with equal reproduction area given the cone and dome sections.

Flat Tweeters: The speaker also utilizes a 3/8" ceramic, flat tweeter for added high frequency reproduction.
