Component speaker systems owe their natural sound and excellent imaging to the separation of the tweeter and woofer. You can have the outstanding performance of components at an affordable price with Kenwood's KFC-P605ie 6-1/2" component speaker system.

You'll enjoy the silky highs contributed by the 3/4" UFLC soft dome tweeter, mounted on Kenwood's unique Image Enhancer. The Image Enhancer baffle helps eliminate reflected sound waves that distort the high frequency output. There are plenty of mounting options — you can flush-, surface-, or angle-mount the tweeters for optimal stereo imaging.

The tough whisker-pearl mica injection-molded poly woofer works with its rubber surround to provide tight, responsive bass. The crossover network (5,000 Hz) sends the proper frequencies to the tweeter, and guards against excessive input power with a built-in protection circuit.

Great Speakers for the Price

Written By Chris, Montclair, NJ on Saturday, February 04, 2006

These speakers are very balanced and neutral. They do have pretty good bass punch. The Crutchfield guide is wrong. These speakers will fit in an S2000 with no problems at all. The tweeters produce a full sound without being shrill. Overall I found these speakers to be a good value producing sound that compares favorably with speakers that cost more than double the price.

Kenwood Excellence Cruthfield Knowledge

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I added these speakers in my 1999 Chevy Silverado Ext. Cab (as front door replacements)along with the Kenwood KFC-4675C 4X6's (rear door replacements) and the Kenwood KAC-6401 30X4rms amp to push these remarkable speakers. The sound is excellent. Crisp highs, Slightly Modest mids. I also added a powered MTX Thunderform sub for the extra bang of bass. Excellent system for my budget. (superb sound inside, stealth outside)

I gave these speakers only four stars only because I had to cut a second hole in my door panel to accomadate the tweeters as the original hole was to large, however this is all disquised under the original factory door screens anyway. The brakets for the woofers made them literally just a snap to change (excellent bracket from Crutchfield as always)Thanks

Very impressed, and well recomended.

Very Nice.

'01 Golf 2.0 Euro Spec

Written By Killania, Bavaria, Germany on Sunday, June 05, 2005

Installed two (2) Sets of these speakers plus the Kenwood Excelon KDC-X689 (the military PX offered these). The speakers are clean both cranked as well as low. The Bass reverberates and the highs are sharp. The mids are ok, but is to be expected. The crossover network has 3 settings(+5, 0, -5 ohms, but the custom install was inside the doors, so decide what you want beforehand (set mine +5), as they will be a challenge to get to later. Had to cut away some in the front for the tweeters and put the rear tweeters in the far back with custom front-facing mounts (the VW rear-door mounts are too shrill as they are right behind the driver's seat). No amp was needed to push these, as the MOSFET 50W x 4 met all my needs. I am ordering the KW 10" powered sub and will put it under the passenger seat (3 3/4" ht). All in all - extremely happy with these speakers! Total install of radio and speakers took about 2 hrs for professional install due to modding for front and rear tweeters. Also, had to cut out the hands-free cellphone, though the radio offers it. May re-do the install when I get back State-side.

Infinity lover buys Kenwood

Written By Michael, Grand Rapids, MI on Thursday, February 24, 2005

Bought these because Infinity components would not fit. Impressive, detailed highs with clear, smooth vocals. Angle mount at top of the door created excellent imaging.

-Very detailed highs (a little better than Infinity)
-Good mids (not as "warm sounding" as Infinity)
-Excellent imaging (more precise than Infinity)
-Budget price ($128 refurbished vs. $200 for Infinity)
-Low bass equal to Infinity (which is not very much)
-Crank it up and everything stays clean
-Even smooth tone throught frequency range

I am very happy with these and would buy them again.

Woofers

Woofers: The woofer cones are silver Pearl Mica Injection-Molded Polypropylene. Uniform pearl mica crystals form an overlapping structure that adds strength and heat resistance to polypropylene; the result is reduced distortion and improved reliability. Each woofer uses a rubber surround.

Mounting: The woofers can be mounted in a 6-1/2" opening, or, using the four mounting tabs, the woofers can be mounted in a 6-3/4" opening.

Tweeters

UFLC Soft Dome Tweeters: The 3/4" soft dome tweeters are made from Urethane Film Laminate Cloth for smooth highs and low distortion.

Image Enhancer: Each tweeter is equipped with Kenwood's patented Image Enhancer. Its smooth rounded surface eliminates most of the reflected sound waves that would interfere with the direct sound waves coming from the tweeter. The end result is a better dispersion pattern, less distortion, and clear high-frequency reproduction.

Tweeter Mounting Options: The tweeters may be flush, surface, or angle mounted.

Flush Mount Surface Mount Angle Mount
Mounting Depth 1.171" 0.603" (screw depth) 0.549" (screw depth)
Mounting Height 0.361" 0.812" 1.744"
Cutout Diameter 1.755" N/A N/A
Frame Diameter 2.077" 1.564" 1.931"

Crossovers

2-Way Crossover Network: Each crossover features a 5 kHz high-pass filter for the tweeters and a 5 kHz low-pass filter for the woofers.

Input/Output Connections: The crossover input wires are terminated with bare wire and the output wires are terminated with quick-slides.

Mounting: There are two mounting tabs on each crossover.

Dimensions: L=4.827", W=1.787", H=1.063"
