Speaker excellence

Kenwood Excelon speakers incorporate technical know-how and advanced materials to give your music the full, rich sound it deserves. These full-range speakers sport a diamond-array pattern etched into their woofers that increases the strength of the carbon-polypropylene cone for improved dynamic response and lower distortion. The butyl rubber surround resists weathering, providing reliable support that keeps your music playing, no matter what.

The KFC-X133 5-1/4" full-range speakers feature 3/4" silk dome tweeters that deliver all the high-frequency details without sounding harsh. Because of their specially designed magnetic circuitry and neodymium magnets, these compact tweeters use less steel in their construction than most tweeters, so you'll hear more accurate response.

Priced per pair

These speakers sound great however they do not fit in the rear speaker pods on a Harley Ultra the mounting depth of the speaker is too deep. In order to mount these speakers you need to use the stock speaker cover with the mesh grill removed as a spacer.

These speakers are really clear coming out of an aftermarket head unit. I haven't noticed any distortion at high volumes. They produce frequencies below 60 Hz but it isn't their strong point. Having a crossover cut off everything below 70-80 Hz works well.

Pros: Waaaaaaaaaaaaay better than the factory drivers.

Cons: Now I want a sub.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These are really great mid range speakers, I have these in the rear doors of my 2010 ext cab Silverado, I have the 6 3/4 in the front doors. The mids and hi's are crisp and clear. Cleared up all the distortion I was getting from listening to guitar heavy music. They can play extremely loud with no distortion, the only thing these speakers lack are any kind of bass. I have sub's so that's not what I needed anyway. I would definitely recommend these speakers if you already have sub's.

Pros: Crisp, clear, and loud

Cons: No low range

Great speakers you can't go wrong with

Definitely better than stock speakers. They're not hard to install at all. It's nice how clear the music is through them. They are, without a doubt, awesome speakers for the great price you pay for them. You can't go wrong with Crutchfield.

Pros: Great speakers.

Cons: None that I know of.

Good sound from small speaker

Written by: Jeff from Petersburg, IL on October 20, 2014

I purchased these as a replacement to the back door speakers on my 2003 Jeep Liberty at the recommendation of a local audio store. Shipping was very fast and installation was simple. I think it took me less than an hour to install both speakers using the included speaker adapter. I think these little speakers sound really good. Even though my stock speakers were 6 3/4, I purchased these smaller ones based on the recommendation. I'm very happy with them, although I may have preferred getting the bigger speakers if I would have researched more...you know, it's a mental thing ("bigger is better"). LOL.

Pros: Great sound, quality built, easy installation.

Cons:

Pros: Sounds better than the originals

Cons: Not a direct fit. Had to cut and trim original speaker enclosures.

Excellent speakers for the money. Mids are clear, the treble is not super harsh and you can get a surprising amount of low-end thump and boom out of these given the fact that they're 5" speakers. Are there better speakers out there? Of course there are. Are these great speakers for the price you'll pay? Without a doubt.

Pros: Great all around speaker for the money

Cons: None come to mind

Much better than stock. I don't have a lot to say, because I don't have multiple speakers to compare them to.

Pros: Heavy. Clear. Dynamic.

Cons: Speaker Grill is flimsy and doesn't attach very secure. This would not prevent me from purchasing another pair, however.

Very Clear, Clean Sound

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great speakers, produce beautiful sound, it's immersive, which is what I was looking for. The highs are high, and the mids are clear. Paired with a KDC-X997 I get amazing sound from these speakers, and that's without being powered by a 4 channel amp (for now). These speakers are built very very well. I can open up the doors on my truck, put the volume up to 26 and have music playing behind the truck and you can easily hear everything in the song. Highly recommend a subwoofer with these to match the mids and highs these speakers will put out!

Pros: Sound amazing, and produce alot of sound. Built well.

Cons: Seems as though these speakers are made to be part of a complete system, in which I mean it's assumed your adding or already have a subwoofer.

Very nice

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I've bought 2 pairs of these speakers to replace the factory speakers in my Accent. I am very pleased with the sound quality. I also have a Kenwood receiver. I listen to a large range of music and I hear things in the music that I didn't hear before. The sound is nice is clear and I can crank the volume pretty loud without it overpowering the speakers. There is still a point where they do start to garble, but at that point, the volume is too loud and you should be wearing ear plugs at that level. With these speakers, I do recommend that you get a separate sub. I haven't used them without, but I'm pretty sure these speakers were not designed to put out bass.

Pros: Great sound quality, mounted perfectly, price(when I bought them)

Cons: Not made for bass, get a sub.

2000 GMC Sierra 1500
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these to replace my front speakers on a 2000 GMC Sierra 1500, which are located in the front doors. I had prior experience taking off the door pieces to get at the speakers when I replaced a window motor. There is at least one YouTube video that shows you exactly how to do it--it is VERY simple. Switching out the factory speakers for these was VERY simple. I also replaced the receiver, so the job took me a little more than an hour. I"m a rock guy. I tend to listen to my music at a high volume. The factory speakers were obviously not great, but they did the job for me for 12 years. These speakers are very good at mid and low volumes. The sound is unquestionably better. However, at high volumes, they can't handle bass of any sort. Ordinarily, that' would be fine with me, since I HATE bass-heavy music, but the sound distortion is pretty bad at high volumes, which is a problem I never had with my factory speakers. I do understand that these are only 5 1/4 speakers and, in a proper system, shouldn't handle the bulk of the heavy work. I am unlikely ever to buy an amp and a sub, but I'm sure that the sound would be much better at higher volumes if I did. I didn't replace the rear speakers because they're smaller than the fronts in a Sierra, but maybe if I also swap them out for better speakers the overall sound at high volume will improve.

Pros: Price, Ease of Install

Cons:
