Kenwood Excelon speakers incorporate technical know-how and advanced materials to give your music the full, rich sound it deserves. These full-range speakers sport a diamond-array pattern etched into their woofers that increases the strength of the carbon-polypropylene cone for improved dynamic response and lower distortion. The butyl rubber surround resists weathering, providing reliable support that keeps your music playing, no matter what.

Kenwood Excelon KFC-X693 6"x9" speakers feature 1" silk dome midrange drivers that combine with 3/4" balanced soft dome tweeters to paint a strong sonic image without ever sounding harsh. Because of their specially designed magnetic circuitry and neodymium magnets, the compact midrange drivers use less steel in their construction, for more accurate response than conventional drivers.

Product Highlights:

Why replace your car's original speakers?

The speakers that originally came in your car were made from inexpensive materials, designed to create acceptable sound at the lowest possible cost to the manufacturer. If you love music, you deserve better. Name-brand aftermarket speakers deliver fuller, richer sound with considerably more detail and nuance, and they're capable of playing louder and cleaner than factory speakers. Connect new speakers to your factory radio and you'll get the best possible sound from your dealer-equipped system. Pair them up with a new car stereo for a level of enjoyment that can rival a high-fidelity home audio experience.

Great Speaker

Written by: James from Tennessee on June 30, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers are amazing. The range and sheer power will blow you away. I have mine installed in the rear doors of a 2014 Ram Quad Cab and they are being pushed by an Alpine PDR-V75. FYI...There's plenty of install room, no modifications needed for the rear doors.

Pros: Great range, highs are crisp, still very punchy, extremely clear with high power and lots of volume. Do not go with a smaller speaker or cheaper speaker. You won't regret it.

Cons: I am very very picky and I have none.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This speaker has great sound for my music taste, very clean and crisp with a proper amount of thump. Would recommend it for any replacement of a 6x9. Enjoy them.

Cons: The depth is something to overcome, however with proper spacing or flash mounting it was easy.

These speakers are nice and sound great!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

On the Crutchfield these speakers seemed like they'd be good. After my father-in-law installed them in his truck I was amazed with how well they sound at such a good price. Needless to say, he loves them and couldn't be more happier with them. Crutchfield, you rock!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Excellent sound. Really don't need a sub unless you like super heavy bass. Complete package

Pros: Full range. Excellent sounding. Handles well at high and low outputs

Cons: Heavy. Had to reinforce. That's why I gave it 4 instead of 5

Wow what low end punch

2005 Chevrolet Malibu
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these speakers for my wife and her 'soccer Mom cruiser'. Speakers are matched with the Kenwood KFC-X173 6-3/4" speakers in the front doors, Kenwood DDX-470 head and Clarion XC1410 amp. I installed the speakers before adding the head and amp and gave them a try, what a difference over the factory speakers. Well worth the cost.

Pros: Excellent value and sound.

Cons: None.

Nice sound

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

nice full sound, good range, worth the $.

Pros: nice sound

Cons: the speaker wires and metal tabs to connect the speaker wires are a little flimsy. I would have expected something more study from Kenwood.

Great sound & value

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Put a pair of these in Datsun 280Z rear because there's not a lot of options for locations. Have one of the vintage look head units for power. Sound quality is pretty darn good. Much better than anticipated.

Pros: Good deep sound, lot of speaker for the money.

Cons: None so far

Nice Compromise

1996 Volvo 960
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installing these replacements in a 1996 Volvo 960 (rear deck) and fading the sound system a few notches to the rear made even the older OEM speakers in front sound better. Far less trouble to install (but yes, the back seat does have to come out of this vehicle) than a full component set (involving doors and dash as well), and the rear deck only option provides really good sound across the entire range. The fit (using OEM factory grills) was perfect; maybe not such a big deal but I was impressed that Crutchfield knew that with the vehicle choice system on an older car, and said so. If I were considering an investment in speakers, I'd at least consider trying these alone at first.

Pros: Very clean sound across the range; suitability of fit for my application

Couldn't ask for better quality

Written by: Joe from Troy, MI on August 26, 2011

I put these in my '76 Jeep CJ7. Two 6x9s and two 5 1/4's. I can finally hear my music with the top down on the freeway. The only gripe I have is the speaker wire that comes off of these speakers is so thin but I changed it out with some better quality stuff. To get the full potential of these speakers you have to have an amp. I power these with a 350 watt RMS 2 channel amp.

Woofers: The woofer cones are constructed of a Carbon-Polypropylene Hybrid with a Diamond Array Pattern for added rigidity. They use butyl rubber surrounds for a smoother response and improved durability.

Tweeters: Each speaker uses a 3/4" PEI balanced-dome tweeter. PEI (Poly-Ether Imide) is a polymer film that has sound characteristics ideal for use as a tweeter. The balanced-dome tweeter produces a wide soundstage for superior imaging.

Midranges: Each speaker uses a 1" Silk soft dome midrange for smooth, precise vocals.

Warranty Note: Although these speakers come with a 1-year warranty card, they are covered by the Kenwood eXcelon 2-year warranty.
