Is this compatible with KMM-BT732HD?
jacobi  May 23, 2023

Greetings Jacobi, and thank you for your question. No sir. It will have to be a Kenwood Marine stereo to be compatible with that remote. If you already have the stereo and need a wired remote for it, the KCA-RC35MR is compatible. www.crutchfield.com/p_113RC35MR/item.html

will this remote unit work with the KMR-332BT?

Greetings Rocky, and thank you for your question. Yes it will, one thing though. It only comes with a 12 inch data cord. If the stereo will be further than that, you will need the Kenwood extension cable. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_113CAEX7MR/Kenwood-CA-EX7MR-7-meter-extension-cable.html https://www.crutchfield.com/p_113CAEX3MR/Kenwood-CA-EX3MR-3-meter-Extension-Cable.html

Q
Does theses work with a Kenwood DMX47S media head unit?
dennis  Sep 13, 2022
1 answer
A
Greetings Dennis, and thank you for your question. No it will not. That remote controller needs the stereo to have a dedicated data port, like Kenwood marine stereos have. There is another Remote option without the display that uses just 18 gauge wire connection to most any Kenwood stereo. Its the KCA-RC35MR.

I'm not familiar with the KMU-700U, but if the Kenwood head end unit has the option for a remote, the RC55MR is most likely compatible. My head end unit owner's manual showed the remote connection input.

will the kca-rc55mr work with the kmr-d378t ?
tim  Oct 25, 2020

A
Yes, it did work in my boat. However, if you have a new Android you will be forced to use Bluetooth as the phone will not transfer music via the cable as iPhone does. Super annoying because there is a noticeable sound quality difference between the two.

Can remote be mounted on the Swim Platform of my boat of which will get wet?
allan  May 23, 2020
4 answers
A
Yep
david  May 23, 2020
A
We have the same remote on the swim platform of our boat. Gets wet often and we have yet to have an issue.
zach  May 23, 2020
A
yes, this is supposed be rated to be able to get wet. I had this mounted on the stern of my last boat and it worked fine. I would recommend ensuring it is well above the water line of the boat as submersing it would likely ruin it, but occasional splashes of water should not be a problem.
nick  May 23, 2020
A
Based on the reviews I have read, I would not install this remote on the transom of the boat where it will be exposed to water and direct sunlight.
michael  May 23, 2020
Q
what size are the bolts that screw into the back of the remote?
john  Apr 24, 2020

A
The bolt sizes have not been published by Kenwood. We recommend contacting Kenwood's support team to gain information on proper sizing for hardware at 800-536-9663. They should be able to assist you.

Q
I am installing the KCA-RC55MR and i wanted to know if there is there a way to mount it without having rear access to install the bracket and screws/nuts?
brian  Jul 12, 2019
3 answers
A
You could fabricate a custom enclosure ( eg. a square box) and surface mount it. Of course you will still be left the task of routing the cable. That may be as simple as drilling a hole in the center behind the mounting location. Marine starboard material to fabricate an enclosure should do the trick. It pretty much is like working with wood. Good Luck!
ronald e  Jul 12, 2019
A
I suppose there's always a way....probably some modification to the mounting system and how its attached to wherever its mounted. Mine was a conventional in dash mount.
shawn  Jul 12, 2019
A
You need a hole for the cable and the rear sticks out a bit. I then used 3M interlock which worked perfectly!!!! Basically strong water proof Velcro. I used no hardware

Q
Can i use this remove with a Kenwood 893s head unit that is not a marine radio ?
sheldon  Apr 18, 2018

if your head unit accepts a remote, you will need to check the compatibility. Kenwood customer service should be able to help, and I believe Crutchfield should be able to provide you with that phone number.

Q
Can I wire a KCA RC55MR and a KCA RC35MR to the same head unit? Or do both of the marine remotes have to be the same? I currently have two RC35MR remotes and would like to replace the one on the stern of the boat with the RC55MR.
skier  Sep 28, 2016

A
I used the mfg setup in an automotive set up. I doubt your setup will work because the. Head unit only has one jack...unless you can find a splitter. I would recommend contacting Kenwood.
thomas  Oct 04, 2016
A
You can but the KCA-RC55MR has a large round plug on it so it's wired differently. You have to purchase the extension cable for this remote. The physical size of the connector (1 inch round) on the remote and extension cable made this remote difficult to install.

Q
does it come with a cable and how long if it does?
cory  Aug 31, 2015
4 answers
A
It does not come with a cable! The attached cable is only about 3 ft long. You have to buy an extension cable separately if you need to go the distance to a receiver from the dash. I have learned this from experience after receiving the unit, and then I needed to order and wait to get the extension cable. Crutchfield should tell you this in the remote description or suggest it when you check you check out.

no it does not

I believe it came with about a 3 foot cable. But I had to buy the 6 foot extension cable. To make it work with my set up.

yes, approximately 6 feet long.

Q
Does this remote unit work with the Marine KMR-d358?
ryan  Jul 09, 2014
1 answer
A
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: Not according to the information posted on our website: Optional Marine Wired Remote: The Kenwood KCA-RC35MR wired marine remote control (113RC35MR, sold separately) is designed to withstand the harsh marine environment. The Kenwood add-on wired remote features source selector, music search, and volume control buttons. Note: The head unit's wired remote input wire (blue/yellow) also lets you keep your vehicle's factory radio steering wheel remote controls when used with an optional steering wheel audio control adapter (sold separately). Please consult Crutchfield's Outfit My Car to see if your vehicle is compatible. So, the only one we list as compatible is the KCA-RC35MR: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_113RC35MR/Kenwood-KCA-RC35MR.html If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.

I am looking to install this on the transom of my boat. How big is the hole for the installation? I read a Sony one that required an almost 3.5" hole for install. Any details on the installation would be great. Thanks.

I haven't installed mine yet as I'm waiting for warmer weather to work on the pontoon. I measured the 3M gasket's inside section that comes with the wired remote and it looks like you'll need to make a 2 inch hole for the Kenwood remote.
jared  Feb 09, 2014
A
I don't remember but Im pretty sure it's smaller than that prob like 2"
jason  Feb 08, 2014

I really don't remember. One of my guys did the work I can't imagine needing a 3" hole to mount it though. Still depending on where you want to mount it 3" shouldn't be a big deal either
greg  Feb 08, 2014
A
2.075" cutout. Unit is 3.47" in diameter. Mounting depth is .515". I put mine in a standard size gage hole in the dash. Make sure the surface is flat. Otherwise you can easily crack the unit from the uneven stress load.
matthew  Feb 08, 2014
Q
Just curious as to if I can get this remote to work with Kenwood head units other than the marine units. I read the details, it has an 8 pin connector and is designed to work with select marine head units. Is the 8 pin connector something that would work with some of the "car" audio? I have a KDC-X597 remotely located in a dry area of my boat. Trying to figure out if this will work with that unit.
