Stay in control of your Kenwood marine receiver even if it's mounted below decks. The KCA-RC55MR wired remote gives you access to major functions of your Kenwood marine receiver — features like power on and off, volume, source, and track up/down. A 2-line LCD screen lets you keep tabs on what you're listening to. This wired remote eliminates any need to be in the receiver's line of sight, and its operation isn't affected by bright sunlight.
I have been using this remote all season this summer. It works great hooked up to Kenwood receiver! I pretty much only listen to Sirius XM on the boat. It displays the station number and name. The buttons are large and easy to use when driving the boat.
Pros: Easy to install. Visual display to show stations. Large buttons that work very well and are responsive. Need to buy the extension cable separately if have more than 3 ft to the receiver.
Cons: Wish it worked with the Preset stations on the receiver. I would give the remote a 5 if you could tune with the preset stations instead of only manual tune. When you turn the unit on you have to advance the stations one by one until you find the station you want to listen too. So if you like the Classic Vinyl (#26) you have to push the advance button 26 times to get to that station.
The product itself is easy to use however shortly after one year the exterior housing began to chip and crack. When I spoke to Kenwood customer service I was told they don't cover the exterior housing and since it's over the one year warranty nothing is covered at this point. Waist if my money!!
Pros: Features and easy to use
Cons: Housing cracked in multiple places at about one year. Kenwood does not warranty it. How convenient for them!
Great little wired remote that I installed with my radio, I love it! It alows you to control everything that the radio can do through it, even adjusting the bass and treble + sub level! Would defiantly recommend this!
Pros: Easy use
Cons: Screen is a little hard to see but I mounted it kinda low and I think that's why.

A marine receiver has to do more than just look good and sound great. It also has to stand up to salt, spray, sunlight, and rough weather. Kenwood designed their 2013 marine receivers and remotes...
need remote to be able to mount stereo under seat and still have original vintage stereo installed in the dash [ Phola Thi Jan 26, 2016 ]

Good afternoon, I have the remote mounted on my motorcycle at home. The diameter is approximately 4 1/4 " and the thickness is abour 1 1/4" If you need more exact infomation please let me know. Kindest regards1 John [ John Sep 10, 2015 ]
It does not come with a cable! The attached cable is only about 3 ft long. You have to buy an extension cable separately if you need to go the distance to a receiver from the dash. I have learned this from experience after receiving the unit, and then I needed to order and wait to get the extension cable. Crutchfield should tell you this in the remote description or suggest it when you check you check out. [ Daniel Sep 02, 2015 ]
no it does not [ Yvonne Aug 31, 2015 ]
I believe it came with about a 3 foot cable. But I had to buy the 6 foot extension cable. To make it work with my set up. [ jeffrey Aug 31, 2015 ]
yes, approximately 6 feet long. [ JEFFREY Aug 31, 2015 ]

I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: Not according to the information posted on our website: Optional Marine Wired Remote: The Kenwood KCA-RC35MR wired marine remote control (113RC35MR, sold separately) is designed to withstand the harsh marine environment. The Kenwood add-on wired remote features source selector, music search, and volume control buttons. Note: The head unit's wired remote input wire (blue/yellow) also lets you keep your vehicle's factory radio steering wheel remote controls when used with an optional steering wheel audio control adapter (sold separately). Please consult Crutchfield's Outfit My Car to see if your vehicle is compatible. So, the only one we list as compatible is the KCA-RC35MR: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_113RC35MR/Kenwood-KCA-RC35MR.html If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: That KCA-RC55MR marine remote is not listed as compatible with the KMR-D558BT marine receiver. The only remote listed for it is the KCA-RC35MR, pictured below: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_113RC35MR/Kenwood-KCA-RC35MR.html?tp=61747 From our website on the KCA-RC55MR: Compatibility: The KCA-RC55MR marine wired remote control is compatible with the Kenwood KMR-550U, KMR-555U, KMR-700U, and KMR-440U marine head units which feature a proprietary 8-pin remote input. I haven't installed mine yet as I'm waiting for warmer weather to work on the pontoon. I measured the 3M gasket's inside section that comes with the wired remote and it looks like you'll need to make a 2 inch hole for the Kenwood remote. [ Jared Feb 09, 2014 ]
I don't remember but Im pretty sure it's smaller than that prob like 2" [ JASON R Feb 08, 2014 ]
I really don't remember. One of my guys did the work I can't imagine needing a 3" hole to mount it though. Still depending on where you want to mount it 3" shouldn't be a big deal either [ GREG Feb 08, 2014 ]
2.075" cutout. Unit is 3.47" in diameter. Mounting depth is .515". I put mine in a standard size gage hole in the dash. Make sure the surface is flat. Otherwise you can easily crack the unit from the uneven stress load. [ MATTHEW Feb 08, 2014 ]
You will want to contact an Advisor by phone or online chat to discuss compatibility with your current system. They will be able to pull up your receiver and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you. [ Jeff Jan 13, 2014 ] Staff
I do not know personally, but read a review that said it was not. I had already purchased and installed the radio. So I was stuck. [ JOHN Dec 20, 2013 ]
Yes and has a nice foam gasket behind it. [ JASON R Dec 19, 2013 ]
It is at lease water resistant. My installation was in a car but it sure looks to be waterproof. [ ROGER Dec 19, 2013 ]
I purchased this unit and plan on installing in the spring. I opened the box and examined the unit, it appears to be waterproof and well made. My install location is on the helm of an express boat and not subject to the elements. Hope this helps you. [ JACK Dec 19, 2013 ]
Yes it is and I love this remote so far! [ DALE E Dec 19, 2013 ]
