The Diamond Array Pattern reinforces the cone so that it won't warp during heavy bass production. A dual ventilation system pulls heated air out of the motor structure through the back and the sides of the sub, so the inner works stay cooler during those long, loud jams. Put this Kenwood in a suitable enclosure, power it with a nice amp, and get ready to party.

Enclosure Compatibility

Features

Cone: The KFC-W2513PS uses a polypropylene cone and rubber surround for added durability.

Heat Transfer System: A dual ventilation system design helps keep the motor structure cool, improving power handling and longevity.

Long Stroke Design: The pole piece has been extended to provide a more linear magnetic field for woofer operation. This lowers distortion and provides the woofer with better low frequency response.

Double Stacked Magnet: The stacked magnet assembly is used to create a powerful linear motor with increased excursion capability for superior bass output.

Spring Terminals: The spring post terminals on one side of the woofer connect to your amplifier's wiring. The posts will accept pin connectors, single banana plugs, or bare wire up to 10 gauge.

Enclosure Compatibility

Sealed Box: Kenwood recommends a sealed enclosure with an optimum internal volume of 0.65 cubic feet (from 0.4 to 1.0 cubic feet is acceptable). Sealed enclosures provide the most control over a woofer, will handle a lot of power, and provide accurate sonic reproduction, making them suitable to all types of music.

Ported Box: Kenwood recommends a ported enclosure with an internal volume of 1.0 cubic foot  (from 0.75 to 1.5 cubic feet is acceptable) using an 11" x 1-1/4" x 20" slot port. Ported (or vented) enclosures typically provide better overall efficiency than sealed so they are suitable for use with smaller amplifiers, giving you more bass output from less power. However, this efficiency comes at the expense of very low frequency output.

Customer Q&A

1 question already asked

Q
Should this sub be set to 80 or 100hz on the subwoofer setting? Thanks

A
Hi Dustin, I paired this sub with an Alpine MRV-M250 mono amp and a Kenwood BT500S head unit. I selected 100hz initially, listened to it for awhile, and then switched it over to 80hz and listened to it for awhile again. I think that the 80 setting provides better low end than the 100 and so I kept it that way. There are a lot of factors that affect your sound quality and so I would suggest you do the same thing. Also, play with the firing direction of your sub/enclosure. Although the sound at these low frequencies is supposed to be non-directional, I have found (as have others) that the sound is affected in different vehicles. Hope this helps!
