Kenwood

Our take on the Kenwood KSC-WA62RC — The wOOx

You want more bass in your system, but you can't afford to lose space to a subwoofer/amplifier combo. Kenwood's KSC-WA62RC (affectionately known as the "wOOx") is calling your name! This amplified subwoofer features a two-channel amp (30 watts RMS x 2), a dual voice coil 5-1/4" woofer, and a 6-1/2" passive radiator — all housed in a rugged, ultra-compact enclosure that will fit just about anywhere.

The wOOx creates impressive bass through passive radiator technology — air pressure from the powered 5-1/4" woofer moves the larger unpowered 6-1/2", augmenting the bass response. You won't believe so much sound could come from such a small box! A wired remote control provides fingertip control over your low frequencies.

Kenwood KSC-WA62RC — The wOOx

Written By Christian, Paterson,NJ on Sunday, February 27, 2005

When I bought this subwoofer I wasn't sure if the woox was going to deliver what the saleperson was claiming. But after I installed in my Nissan Sentra'04,it sounds beauty. It fits perfet under the front passenger seat. I hook it up with my Pioneer DEH-P8600MP which I have no need for the remote control of the woox. The radio does everything. Also I replace the four speakers for PolkAudio db 650 in the front and PolkAudio db 675 in the rear. The Stereo System sounds awesome.

Good things do come in small packages

I have to admit that I was more than a little skeptical when I ordered the "woox". I had done all my online research and read nothing but rave reviews for this little powerhouse. Despite all the good things people had to say, I was not going to believe it until I heard it for myself. I was absolutely amazed at the amount of bass this little thing produced! Now mind you, if you're looking to pound down the street knocking pictures off of walls, this is not for you. However, if you would like to round out your car audio system with better bottom end, this is perfect for the job. The included remote is excellent, as it allows you to adjust the sub on the fly. I understand that the "woox" is primarily designed for small to midsized cars, but I installed it in my 97 Explorer, and it sounds great. Installation was straightforward and took me just under three hours. All in all, I am highly impressed with this product and recommend it to anyone looking to add some bass to their system.

Excellent Choice for a small Vehicle

Written By Alex, Fresno, CA on Thursday, March 10, 2005

I just installed this behind the bench seat in my '01 Toyota Tacoma standard cab. It just barely fits with the seat all the way back. I have been living without bass for almost three years now because I thought nothing would fit back there. I paired this sub with an Alpine 9833 and Eclipse 5X7 Source Point speakers. I am very happy with the sound. It hits hard and crisp. I like the remote because some songs need more or less bass so it is easy to adjust. I would recommend getting a capacitor if you have a Tacoma because my lights dim and blink when I really crank it.

By the way, I had two 10" subs and a 400-watt amp in my other truck. This sub can't really compare to that. However, considering this is only a 5.5-inch sub, it performs amazingly well. I am very pleased with its performance and would recommend it to anyone with a small truck.

Kenwood Woox

Crutchfield Customer Review

The reviewer purchased this item from us, verified by the email address on the order.

I just finished installing the "Woox" in my 2002 GMC extended cab Sierra.

Since I find these feedback comments very usefull I decided to write.

The speaker sounds very good, I have an upgraded receiver/CD with high end tri and co-axial speakers pushing 22 clean watts.

Once the volume is turned up the Woox sounds pretty good. I imagine the next model up with an extra 100 watts would sound better but for $200 this is pretty impressive. It definetly rounded out my system.

I do wonder why Crutchfield no longer carries the model, just ordered mine last week and must have got one of the last ones in stock.

The speaker is very good for the money and the installation was easy if not time consuming when trying to hide the wires.

I do recommend it for small enclosures/vehicles if not wanting to pound the streets and make a scene.

The type of bass you get from your component subwoofer doesn't depend on the woofer alone. You'll need a strong, tightly constructed enclosure for optimum subwoofer performance.
