Super-slim profile, big-time power

Designed for optimum efficiency

Kenwood packed this amp with space-saving features. Class D technology reduces the size of the power supply, while the internal heatsink is tilted to reduce height without compromising the amp's cooling system. Recessed power and speaker wire terminals help to further reduce the amp's footprint, protect the connections, and give your installation a neat, professional look.

Controls for the best bass

This no-nonsense amplifier features a low-pass filter that sends the correct frequencies to your sub so it'll  play efficiently and sound its best. The amp also includes an adjustable bass boost that adds some low-end punch when you want it.

Very Pleased

Brad from Commerce, GA on 7/3/2016

Installed this amp to power a Kicker 40TCWRT122 sub and does it ever do it nicely. With the gains only set to 60% drives this 12" sub very well. I had an Infinity BassLink before upgrading with this amp and the Kicker 40TCWRT122. This new setup is not even in the same league. I listen to different kinds of music and it sounds great with them all. Very happy with the new bass!

Pros: Power Clarity Size Features

Cons: None

Easy plug in installation while replacing existing amp . Quick to adjust and dial in. Convenient compact size for ease of location. I miss the cooling fan from the prior amp but so far no problems with heat build up. Great bang for the buck!

Pros: compact size, ease of location and hook up

Cons: no cooling fan

AWESOME AMP

Great little amp. Was very skeptical when I seen the actual size in person but after installing it in line with a audio control 6xs and hooked up to a pair of Boston acoustic g2 12's I was blown away with the sound quality and power. Also very stable at high volume and does not get overly hot

Pros: Very small foot print Super simple installation and set up Very stable and efficient Can't beat the refurbished price

Cons: None so far

Awesome amp!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a fantastic ampilifier! At first it confused me having 1 set of rca in, and 2 sets of speaker outs, but it works amazing. I have this amp powering two 4 ohm subs (shallow mount rockfords) and it does it like a champ! I am however disappointed by the screws for the speaker outs, one screw head (the part that the alan wrench goes in) had stripped as I was trying to loosen it to put 1 sub per set of speaker outs. Since 2 wires were already in I was able to just cut one off, but if I ever use this for another set up I have to make sure to leave myself plenty of wire so I can connect that terminal to another speaker/sub. Over very pleased with it, expecially for the price from the referbished model! The things brand new basically! Not even a scratch!

Pros: Small/compact Easy dial adjustments Very clean look with terminal screw covers Delivers power equally to subs

Cons: Screws seem cheap

Great amplifier for a 10 or 12 inch sub-woofer. I bought this amplifier because of the small size so I could fit it under my pickup truck seat. Don't be fooled by the size, it really move a sub woofer to get full rich bass in your ride.

Pros: Compact Size and powerful sound. Easy to Install.

Cons: None

Great, small form-factor amp. Powers my 2-ohm, Kicker CompS subwoofer perfectly. I did have to trim my 1-ought wire to fit, but that was expected.

Best amp I've owned yet. I have my xr600-1 hooked up to an american bass xo 1544. And wow. That's all I can say. Other than it makes my trailblazer rattle and flex all over.

Pros: Too many to list.

Cons: None

The little amp that could!

Kawizx9r from Monterey Bay, CA on 3/2/2013

I never submit reviews however that's changed now with my new Kenwood Excelon XR600-1. Just purchased it along with a 10" JL Audio W3 subwoofer and together they sound great! I was a bit skeptical at first considering I've only owned one Kenwood amp in the past but this little thing puts out power! It took some time dialing everything in but once that was done, I was able to do a proper comparison against my retired JL Audio 500/1 slash amp. The two on the same subwoofer sounded nearly identical with the same 'oomph' and authority you'd expect from the slash amp.

Pros: Size Power

Cons: Price? I only purchased one. No sub-sonic filter

Features

CEA-2006 Compliant: CEA-2006 is a system of testing and measurement methods for mobile audio amplifiers. This voluntary standard advocates a uniform method for measuring an amplifier's RMS power output and signal-to-noise ratio. The criteria for measuring power uses a DC input voltage of 14.4 volts and the RMS power output is measured into a 4-ohm load, with 1% or less Total Harmonic Distortion plus noise (THD+N), and over a frequency range of 20 Hz to 20 kHz, when applicable (20-200 Hz for this subwoofer amp). Signal-to-Noise ratio is measured in weighted absolute decibels (dBA) at a reference of 1 watt into 4 ohms. CEA-2006 allows consumers to compare car amplifiers and receivers on an equal basis. Using CEA-2006 criteria, the Kenwood XR600-1 is rated at 400 Watts RMS x 1 channel with a 78 dBA signal to noise ratio.

Specifications: The manual also lists these non CEA-2006 compliant specifications:

  • Power: 600 watts x 1-channel (into 2Ω at 100 Hz, with no more than 1% THD, 14.4 volts)
  • Signal to Noise Ratio: 100 dB (at rated power)

Mono-Power Amp Design: The Kenwood XR600-1 is designed with specific features to power your subwoofers with a frequency range between 20 and 200 Hz. This amplifier is not designed to power a full-range speaker.

Class D Amplifier Design: The amplifier design is Class D, which uses digital switching power supplies. The result is much higher efficiency (less heat generated) than Class AB.

Low-Pass Filter: The XR600-1 has a built-in 24 dB/octave low-pass filter, continuously variable from 50 to 200 Hz. The crossover is always engaged (it cannot be bypassed).

Bass Boost: The bass boost circuit is centered at 40 Hz; boost is variable from 0 to +18 dB.

Aluminum Heat Sink: The aluminum heat sink increases the amplifier's heat dissipation efficiency, increasing the life of the amplifier.

Controls:

  • Input Sensitivity: 200mV-5V
  • Low-Pass Frequency: 50-200 Hz; continuously variable
  • Bass Boost: 0-18 dB; continuously variable

Inputs and Outputs:

  • Signal Input: one pair of RCA preamp inputs
  • Preamp Output: one pair of pass-through RCA preamp outputs; used to easily connect a second amplifier to the same signal feeding the XR600-1's input
  • Power: set screw terminal; accommodates bare wire up to 4-gauge
  • Ground: set screw terminal; accommodates bare wire up to 4-gauge
  • Remote Turn-on: set screw terminal; accommodates bare wire up to 10-gauge
  • Speaker Output: two pair of set screw terminals; accommodate bare wire up to 10-gauge; the two outputs are internally wired in parallel, making it easy to connect two subwoofers
  • Fuses: three 30 amp mini blade fuses
