The carbon-glass fiber cone employs a honeycomb pattern to deliver quick response in demanding conditions without flexing. The beefed-up rubber surround maintains control over the cone, minimizing distortion caused by resonance. A die-cast aluminum basket offers a rock-solid housing with plenty of venting to keep the heat down. The silver-plated push terminals offer convenient connections and provide excellent signal transfer.

Features
Enclosure Compatibility

Features

Flat Subwoofer: The Kenwood eXcelon flat subwoofer design is approximately 40% slimmer in height than a standard subwoofer. This makes them ideal for installation in the tightest of spaces such as behind or under the seat of a pickup truck.

Carbon-Glass Fiber Cone: The eXcelon flat woofer uses a carbon-glass fiber honeycomb cone which allows the woofer to be efficient and durable at the same time.

Rubber Surround: The Kenwood woofer features a smooth linear rubber surround for added durability and increased excursion resulting in exceptional deep bass response.

Super Linear Spider: The flat woofer utilizes a super linear spider for maximum control over the woofer's linear motion to improve overall sound quality.

Heat Transfer System: The Kenwood woofer features an advanced Heat Transfer System designed specifically for its slim-design to provide proper ventilation to keep the woofer cool.

Aluminum-Cast Basket: The woofer is housed in a cast-aluminum basket for increased rigidity and long-lasting reliability.

Spring Terminals: The flat woofer utilizes a pair of silver-plated spring terminals on one side of the woofer for connection to your amplifier's speaker wiring. The spring terminals will accept up to 10 AWG speaker wire.

Concealing Ring: The eXcelon woofer comes supplied with a removable, rubber concealing ring used to hide the woofer's mounting screws for a neat and professional looking installation. The concealing ring increases the top mounting height to 0.875".

Enclosure Compatibility

Sealed Box Volume: The sealed box size recommended by Kenwood is 0.5 cu/ft.

Vented Box Volume: The vented box size recommended by Kenwood is 0.5 cu/ft. One 1-3/16" x 11" x 17-1/8" (long) slot port should be used with a 0.5 cu/ft enclosure.

Hey I recently acquired this subwoofer and was wondering what the best amp would be to pair with it? I have a 2001 toyota camry xle with an aftermarket head unit, the sony xavax3250. anyreccomendations would be greatly appreciated, im not trying to break the bank though.

The Kicker 46CXA400.1T in the link below delivers 150-watts into a 4-ohm speaker and won't break the bank, Justin. Make sure to also add a wiring kit like the EFX 8-gauge in the second link below and some 12-gauge speaker wire so you have everything needed to get connected! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_20646CX41T/Kicker-46CXA400-1T.html https://www.crutchfield.com/p_142PA8BX/EFX-PA8BX-Wiring-Kit.html

Q
I bought this sub woofer for my 2007 Lexus es350 and my question is it has 2 connections and the old sub has 4 and the colors are blue and white and the other is red and black whick one do I use ?

A
While this Kenwood Excelon KFC-XW800F subwoofer is an excellent choice fit-wise in your 2007 Lexus es350 William, it does not match up to your original subwoofer's dual voice coil configuration making the connection difficult (as you can see!). This subwoofer is a great choice if you are adding an aftermarket amp, but it sounds like you'd like to use the original factory amp to start. We can swap your Kenwood KFC-XW800F out with a subwoofer that fits AND matches the coil number and impedance of your factory sub better, just call us at our Customer Support line at 1-800-955-9091 and we can make that happen for you! Times like this is a big reason we give you a 60-day satisfaction guarantee for any swaps or returns. Something like this Alpine Type-S 2-ohm, dual voice coil subwoofer in the link below would be a great swap and it saves you $10. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_500SW8D2/Alpine-S-W8D2.html

Q
Can this speaker be wire to 2ohms and if so what is the RMS and woud the Kenwood Excelon X502-1 be a good amp to power this subwoofer? Thanks in advance, Dave
david  Oct 01, 2020

A
A 4 ohm speaker can be played on an amp that will work with a 2 ohm speaker, but you can't wire a Single Voice Coil 4 ohm speaker to make it 2 ohm. Running a 4 ohm speaker where a 2 ohm was will cut your watts in half. It will work, but won't play as loud. If you get a Dual Voice Coil woofer that is rated at 4 ohm per coil, you can wire it in parallel thus making it act like a 2 ohm speaker and you'll keep your amp wattage the same as it was originally. Check amp capabilities before wiring a Dual Voice Coil 2 ohm per coil in parallel...It could let the smoke out of the amp if the amp isn't designed to run at 1 ohm.

I believe you can wire it at 2 ohms. The alpine amplifier i had it connected to RMS was 300 watts but the speaker max is 150 so would be carefull to saty as close as possible to that range. I hope this helps and if. The experts at crutch filed may have a bit more insight and accurate information about the amp you are considering.i see its a 500 rms at 2 ohms woukd double check with crutch filed experts on that. I believe you won't be disappointed with the pair.

Q
Can I use this subwoofer to replace the existing factory subwoofer in my 2011 dodge nitro?
wayne  Sep 08, 2019
1 answer
A
You cannot, the magnet is too large, and will not fit in the factory location. A better options would be this: https://www.crutchfield.com/p_130TSS2002/item.html . There are some wiring harnesses you need for proper installation. I would give an advisor a call, as those harnesses should be included, but we will have to do adjust that manually for you! https://www.crutchfield.com/support/ContactUs.aspx

Q
Will the stock power amp be ok to run this sub or will that need to be replaced also?
chris  Jan 19, 2019

The Kenwood has a recommended power range of 50-150 watts RMS so, yes, you will need an aftermarket amplifier to power it properly. I have this shallow-mount 8 as a replacement for my ford OEM unit. i assume you probably have the same OEM mount. so yes, it can replace yet. As for the sound, it's fantastic for shallow mount 8. extremely clean. you will not get SUPER HARD hits, but can get pretty hard, very clean, hits.
