Designed for ultimate realism

Diamond Audio designed HEX speakers to reveal profound details in your music, so you get that real, in-the-moment feeling — like you're getting a private concert from your favorite band.

HEX component speakers

1" silk tweeters

This HEX Series H500S 5-1/4" component speaker system features 1" silk dome tweeters that deliver warm, refined highs, so you'll hear smooth, natural sounding vocals and instruments in your favorite tunes. Ferrofluid-cooled neodymium magnets let these tweeters play with cool efficiency and maximum control for well-defined vocals and instruments.

Choose your tweeter

aluminum and silk tweeters

Your choice of aluminum or silk tweeters

The experts at Diamond Audio understand that tweeter material makes a big difference in the way your music sounds. If you like your highs to sound smooth and organic, then you'll love how these silk dome tweeters dish out focused, mellow notes. If you prefer your music to sound crisp and bright, check out the H500A 5-1/4" component speaker system — it offers the same performance, but with the extended highs of aluminum tweeters.

Smooth sounding honeycomb woofer

cone material

Proprietary honeycomb cone

To make the woofer cone, Diamond Audio uses a unique honeycomb core, sandwiched between two thermally bonded layers of Kevlar, the same material used to make bulletproof vests. The resulting composite is exceptionally rigid, and also close to 70% lighter than conventional paper or polymer woofers. This featherlight cone can reproduce bass and midbass frequencies in your music with pinpoint accuracy. An aluminum dustcap also helps direct damaging heat outward and upward, away from the voice coil and motor structure.

Non-resonant frame

ABS frame

Shallow mount cast aluminum frame

Diamond uses a unique energy-absorbent cast aluminum frame that resists unwanted resonance, so your favorite music sounds just as the artist intended. These woofers can fit in more cars too, thanks to a frame that measures just over 2 inches deep.

Versatile crossover network

crossover adjustments

Straightforward crossover adjusments

The outboard crossover networks also give you plenty of installation flexibility, including the ability to adjust phase and attenuation. You'll also find Diamond Audio's unique "Rear Acoustic Fill" feature — a set of outputs on each network that allows you to power an extra set of rear speakers without impedance issues.

Why install component speakers?

A component speaker system gives you the best possible performance from your car audio system. A system consists of separate woofers, tweeters, and crossovers, each designed to cover one specific range of frequencies. As separate components, the woofer can move freely to deliver more powerful performance, while the tweeter can be custom-mounted in a better spot up closer to your ears, revealing a whole new world of detail. Separate crossovers are far superior to the simple filters wired into full-range speakers, so the components work together for smoother, more focused sound.

Product Research

Cast Aluminum Baskets: The cast aluminum woofer baskets are rigid and non-resonant. Additionally, the aluminum mass helps reduce the voice coil temperature, improving power handling.

Woofer Cones: The Kevlar cones are rigid and very light. Butyl rubber surrounds are used to withstand the harsh automotive environment.

Terminals: The set-screw terminals will accept bare wire up to 12-gauge. A 2mm Allen wrench is included to tighten/loosen the terminals.

Silk Domes: The 1" silk dome tweeters offer a smooth, warm high frequency output.

Mounting Options: The tweeters can be surface mounted or flush mounted using the included housings.

Tweeter Dimensions:

Frame Diameter Cutout Diameter Mounting Height Mounting Depth
Flush Mount 2.27" 1.98" 0.33" 0.82"
Angled Surface Mount 2.12" N/A 1.07" Screw Depth

Tweeter Output: The crossovers offer three tweeter output level settings, selectable via an internal jumper: -2 dB, flat, and +2 dB.

RAF: In addition to the woofer and tweeter outputs, each crossover has a third output for a Rear Acoustic Fill (RAF) speaker. The RAF speakers are powered by the same 2-channel amp as the component set and a jumper in the crossover sets the RAF output level: -10 dB, -5dB, or off (no output).

Barrier Strips: Each crossover's connections are screw terminals that will accommodate spade connectors up to 0.375" wide. A 3mm Allen wrench is included to tighten/loosen the terminals.

Dimensions: The crossover has the following dimensions:

  • Width: 5.942"
  • Height: 1.659"
  • Depth: 4.905"

Connection Note: The component system comes with no speaker wire (other than the 14" length attached to each tweeter).
