Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Just purchased this second pair of Original Monster Cables as replacements for the original set I purchased from Crutchfield almost 20 years ago (new cables for upgraded components). Had to purchase Monster banana connectors to replace the pin connectors on one end of both cables (my new amp would not accept pin connectors). However, no problem -- Monster banana connectors work great!

Pros: Heavy-Duty; copper/pink wire/sheath is very nice/presentable; trusted name/product.

Cons: None.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These Monster wires are my favorite; and aren't easy to find. I have four pricey systems in my house, and Monster is my preference for speaker wire, and interconnects.

Pros: Better sound.

Cons: I'd llike to see longer lengths, or a spool. Didn't like the tips. I cut them off and used banana connectors.

Dick T. from Torrance, California on 10/1/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These are quality cables and are working just fine with my A/B receiver setup. As always, dealing with Crutchfield is a big plus. I had a little trouble attaching them to the speakers, but that was due mostly to the location of the terminals on the speakers.

Pros: Heavy duty, flexible, well insulated

Cons:

Expensive and Faulty

Georgia Fox from Watkinsville, GA on 8/23/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Poorly constructed, easily ruined.

Pros: Good, large wire,

Cons: The pin ends are very poorly set. They are poorly crimped and not soldered. The pins pull out easily when inserting in speaker clamps. Hence, to use the cable the ends need to be cut, striped, and twisted and/or soldered in to a plug or other connected or. Beware of this expensive but very faulty and shoddily made product.

Original Monster Cables 15 ft. - Excellent Quality but too short!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great Sound! A beautiful pair of brand new golden pink Original Monster Cable speaker wires with the Large Monster Connector Crimp-On set that securely fastens this heavy 12 gauge speaker wire to the speakers and receiver. But they are too short!. I can't get the optimal speaker placement with the 15 foot cables. I've had to rig up some 20 foot lengths from an older, oxidized, ratty-looking, bulk Monster speaker wire spool, using twist-on Monster connectors. The older wires don't sound as good, and the connectors aren't as secure, but I need the better speaker placement. I really need the 20 foot Original Monster Cables. Please restore them to your catalog.

Original Monster Speaker Cable OMC1515 with Gold Pin Ends

Miss Brenda from Belleville, Michigan on 6/20/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Hello Audio Lovers! Just received the 15' pair of Original Monster Speaker Cable with the gold pin ends. Have been an audio hobbyist for many years and currently own 12 audio set-ups spread though-out my home in various solid state and vacuum tube configurations. Some have quite expensive cabling, (silver/copper hybrid), etc., I am going to be removing the gold pins, (as they are useless to me), and carefully cut the wire into two 7.5' lengths for use with my VP-300B 9 wpc S.E.T. monoblocks and the other for my EL84 3.5 wpc S.E.T. integrated. Reason I bought this very inexpensive cable was the fact that I use looking to recapture a particular "sound" that I enjoyed whilst doing my internship many years ago in New Orleans in which I owned at the time a very lovely H.H. Scott vacuum tube integrated with Empire Troubadour Turntable Shure V-15 type III cartridge and Original Large Advent speakers. For the price? And for 2 7.5' pairs? It's a bargin!

Pros: Bargin!!

Cons:

Great cables!

Butch P. from Atlanta, Ga. on 6/5/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I've read some negative reviews of these Monster cables but I have nothing bad to say about them. The connectors are locked tight to the ends of the cables and the cables themselves are very well made. They do just what I expect them to do: convey the signal from my amp to my speakers. That they sound fantastic is the icing on the cake!

Pros: Well made, sturdy, sound great.

Cons: None found, though I wish Crutchfield carried the 10 foot length, 15 feet leaves too much excess cable for my setup.

love the wire hate the pins

Ralph from MA on 5/16/2013

Been using this wire for years, love the sound they produce , only thing is the pin connectors are awful! quick to slide out with the slightest wiggle , not that my speaker wire wiggles around but i just dont like the fact that if i was to touch them a bit they would most likely slip out or at the very least move around a bit & thats enough to make me nuts so i clipped the pins off & installed banana plugs just for ease of mind plus they look much more attractive than those cheap looking pins

Pros: Nice & thick

Cons: Awful Pin Connectors

Pin Connectors get loose easily on installation. Clamps and wire ideally should be also soldered on to keep them in place.

Pros: Excellent wires.

Cons: Poorly made clamps on pin connectors. Should also be soldered over to keep in place.

Once a great product...always a great product.

Justo R from Los Angeles, California on 1/8/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The Original Monster Cable is a product that has truly stood the test of time...and for good reason. It can most definitely help improve the overall sound quality of even a modest stereo system and bears witness to the fact that cables and interconnects can and do influence a system's overall sound quality. In my own home stereo system, I've noticed deeper and much cleaner bass reproduction, clearer and more well-defined midrange and an overall-improved soundstage since buying and installing the original Monster Cable. When considering that some high-end cables can cost up to several hundred dollars each, Original Monster Cable is most certainly a great bargain.

Pros: Easy to install, can help improve the sound quality of even a modest stereo system, is a good value for your money.

Cons: Nothing in particular.

Great price for really good speaker wire!

Tony from Palmdale, Ca on 8/10/2011

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

well! I screwed first set of wires. Crutchfield send me a new set of wires even before I sent in the old ones. Great customer service! I recommend these speaker wires because they are great and the price was right. Hey, I saw wire going for $800.00 or more. Some reviews complained about these wires. well, I like them a lot. When you order the 15 or 20 foot wire remember one thing. Just remove the plastic red/black protective covering. Don't bend anything!! You only need to insert the wires in the top holes of the iDecco or iNova connection. Carefully adjust the tightening knobs to tighten the wires in place. This should only take a few turns. You will love the sound from your speakers!

Howard from New York City on 7/9/2009

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The Monster Cable I purchased it terrific. The connections fit perfectly and the sound is crisp and clear. It is a vast improvement over my previous cables. The other reviewers' problems about the cables being the same color have clearly been addressed, as mine are red and black. Thanks, again, Crutchfield, for steering me in the right direction. I have bought all of my tech equipment from you for several years now, and I couldn't be happier. You are great!

Cheap

Paul from Pittsburgh on 3/4/2009

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I needed to bend one of the connectors (very) slightly to make the connection to the speaker, and it immediately broke. I am a metallurgical engineer and I would never use a cheap, cast pin that is guaranteed to break whenever it is bent for a product such as this that is sold at the price it is. Don't buy this.

Richard from Canton, MI on 10/13/2008

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

One of the pins came out of the cable end and I could not re-insert the pin; another person in Alaska had the same problem recently. The poor quality hardly makes this a good value considering that there was no discernable improvement in sound quality over my previous cable.

Linda from Anchorage, AK on 9/8/2008

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I found that the gold pins pull out of the end of the cables with very little stress, and I couldn't put them back in so they would stay. The other problem I had was with both of the wires being exactly the same color, and the covering being the same color, it was time-consuming to trace the black tip from one end of the 15-foot cable to the other end, so as to make sure I connected it correctly. This was after both gold pins and the colored tips had popped off of one end. In speaker wires I've owned before, there was never this problem. I had to get a black permanent marker and trace the black all the way to the other end. It was an unnecessary necessity, and I wish I had not purchased these cables.

Awesome!

Brian from Clayton, NC on 1/25/2008

I have had these gems for over 8 years now. When first hooked up, I was pleasantly surprised to hear subtle nuances in my music that I had not noticed before. Over time, no degradation in signal whatsoever. I would highly recommend these to anyone. Monster rules!

Cons:

Great speaker wire!

John from Falls Church, VA on 3/5/2006

I've been using this speaker wire for about 5 years. This wire is heads and shoulders above any "cheaper" wire. My whole home theater is wired with Monster wire and I couldnt be happier-whats the point of having great components if the connections between them choke and constrain the signal? Get these for your speakers and I recommend Monster cables for all other components as well. Your system will will sound better because of it.
