The Monster speaker wire is made so well I have no problems running it or using it to connect my speakers. I have never had a need for better speaker wire until recently and am very impressed with the difference. Actually makes me wonder how the cheap wire even works when put next to the Monster speaker wire.

Pros: Easy to use. Does not knot, tangle, or break easy like the cheaper wires.

Cons: Can not think of one

i never thought that changing the wiring on my home theater system would make such a big difference. i have a premier sound system i am using a 1060 sony receiver on a setting 7.1 surround. i am using 5 bose cube speakers as the 4 surround and 1 as the center channel then i am using a pair of polk audio tsx440t as the front left and right connected to a polk audio subwoofer dew pro 660wi. i purchased everything from Crutchfield.com. amazing when i changed the wiring to moster xp i couldn't believe that my sound system actually sounds better than the movie theater.

Pros: amazing

Cons: just that the wire is thicker that others so is a little harder to conceal inside the walls but at the end is all worth it.

I had always thought that" speaker wire was speaker wire". Well, I was wrong. I did a comparison with Monster Cable vs my old speaker wire and there is a noticeable difference. There is even a more noticeable difference using smaller speakers. This makes my Polk RtiA3 speakers sound much larger with better definition. Monster Cable is well worth the money.

Pros: A great way to improve the sound of your system for a very small amount of money.

Cons: I will now have to replace all the speaker wire on my other speakers.

I think this is 12 gauge wire but I am sure because it does not indicate on the spool. It is good speaker wire for the money.

Pros: Both the plastic coating for the positive and negative are the same making it difficult to not hook up your speakers out of phase. One side of the plastic coating on the wire should be red and the other side clear. Monster should know better.

Written by: Helene from Silver Spring, MD on August 6, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Monster XP cable is easy to use and guaranteed to work. The different colors it comes in makes it easy to match your baseboard/trim with what will work best - we got the "translucent" kind and it blends nicely. If you want heavy duty, long lasting cable, this is it, and Crutchfield sells it at a very reasonable price.

Pros: reliable, easy to use, attractive

Cons:

Written by: John from Kansas on July 27, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This cable is very nice and easy to work with. There is text printed on one side of the cable that you can use to distinguish positive and negative connections. I bought an entirely new home theater system and wanted to use this cable so that I can get the most out of it, but before connecting the new system I hooked my old system up using this cable to test it as I already know how my old stereo would sound. The difference is like night and day. The most noticeable difference was in the rear surround speakers that each have a 30 foot run of cable to them. It seems the old speaker wire I was using could not carry the signal from the receiver to the speakers that far away very well because after connecting the Monster cables they were much louder and clearer, as well as the rest of the speakers too. Made me happy that I had spent the extra cash on this for my new stereo. I wonder if my old speaker wires would have made the new stereo sound bad after experiencing the difference Monster cables made to the old stereo? As a matter of fact, you could probably just save yourself some money and buy this cable for your existing stereo instead of upgrading like I did! Seriously though, if you are wondering if this cable will make a difference or not, or wondering if it's really worth it, just get it....

Pros: Makes your speakers sound better!

Cons: Wish I would have had extra to connect to our second stereo too! Looks like I'm buying another spool!

Delivers good signal quality

Written by: JBRoss from Phoenix, AZ on March 22, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The wire delivered a good signal and the sound was very good.

Pros: Not much to say except it delivered as described.

Cons: Faint markings to distinguish each wire so I marked them with a magic marker before cutting from the spool. There was no gauge designation on the spool's label to indicate the size of the wire. At a minimum, this should be present.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

All wire are not created equil. I had 16 ga. speaker wire. I installed 230 ft. of Monster XP. One side of cable has white writting the other plain. you can choose either side to be positive as long as you are consistant thru entire install eliminating color codeing. Monster incorporates other technowledges in there wire besides attention to the wire. I have noticed not only cleaner sound with no distortion but also brought my speakers to life. The Crutchfield advisor told me it is rated at 16 ga. With the differance in performance it is hard to believe. I also use Monster LFE cable and Monster HDMI cables. Regardless of what type system you are wireing up Monster not only out performs all others but also takes the strain off the equipment you are using, as well as you ears and eyes. I agree 100% with another reviewers statement if you spend alot for audio and vidio electronics why would you go cheap on cables. Monster can only make base or mid priced sound and look better.

Pros: prrofesional grade quality at a affordable price.

Cons: Have not found any yet.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have to agree with one of the other reviewers; why would you drop a bunch of money into a receiver and speakers, then go cheap on the wiring? I have a 7.1 system in one room and a 5.1 in another room, and it's all Monster cable all the time. Very pleased with the sound quality of both systems, you cannot go wrong with Monster.

Pros: Great product performance, lasts forever

Cons: It would be nice if the wire gauge were stamped on the wiring jacket

I never used more expensive speaker cables before but this cable sound good enough to me. Easy to use, easy to terminate and the jacket is durable. I use 4 of them bi-wiring to my speakers. They sound good.

Pros: Sound good.

Cons: No line or marking on the cable to indicate the positive or negative side except for small white writing on the cable. No gauge size is written anywhere.

Best you can find unless you shop car audio supplies

Written by: Jason from Colorado on August 8, 2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This speaker wire is very high quality, it's wound right, it's got a lot of strands, the jacket is very sturdy. The only way you are going to find anything better is by buying some ultra high quality car audio wire, and even then, there won't be much difference. This stuff is the real deal. Why would you spend $1,000+ and then go and skimp on your wiring, makes no sense. If you don't believe me, research the quality of wiring vs. resistance, heat, sound, etc...

Pros: This stuff is the wire to buy, period.

Cons: none.

Quality speaker cable without paying to high of a price. [ Jay P.  Jan 30, 2016 ]
I chose Monster cable because I know Monster is a good cable. I have never experimented with more expensive cable so I really can't compare to other cable but the other reason I chose Monster is because it is very affordable. [ Keith  Jan 08, 2016 ]

Bill, I have used it for a couple of years without any problems. I live in Wisconsin with diverse seasons. It has worked great for me. [ JOHN A  Jun 29, 2015 ]
Bill, I've looked all over the cable spool and my paperwork, and I don't find anything regarding indoor or outdoor use. If it was me, I'd go ahead and use it for my outdoor speakers. But, I'm not you, so you might want to get some cable that says it's specifically made for outdoor use. Your call. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. --Gary. P.S. I got curious for myself so I called Crutchfield Tech Support: they said it would probably be OK if it wasn't directly exposed to the elements, such as rain, etc., otherwise you should get marine-grade wiring. Hope this helps you. --Gary [ Gary  Jun 29, 2015 ]
It should be just fine in any location if not subjected to direct sunlight for extended periods. I do not know the UV capabilities long term, so shielding may be necessary. Otherwise, it is very good, heavy duty and flexible cable. [ STEPHEN  Jun 28, 2015 ]
What is the white plastic tube for monster cable? [ Roland  Jan 30, 2015 ]
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: That wire is not in-wall rated, however here is a link to all of our current products that are; http://www.crutchfield.com/g_22112/In-wall-Speaker-Wire.html?showAll=N&tp=1432 If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. Well I am not 100% sure but I think you can go 20-25 maybe more. I ran it about 20 and I didn't notice a difference from 5 feet away.. Not sure if will help u or not....Dan [ JOSEPH D  Dec 30, 2013 ]
The cable needs to be cut to length, the two wires separated for a few inches on each end, and then stripped. It could be carefully done with a sharp knife, but I'd recommend using a wire stripping tool. [ TERRY K  Jun 18, 2015 ]
It has to be stripped, but it isn't hard to do. [ BRIAN  Jun 18, 2015 ]
This is a 50-foot spool, so you cut the wire to the length you need, and then strip the ends. A cheap pair of wire strippers will work, or you could do it with a knife if you are careful. [ William  Jun 18, 2015 ]
There is no gage on it . Since I bought it , I haven't use it yet [ DEFIA  Dec 27, 2013 ]
