Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This bracked supports the weight of the radio in the rear of the unit using the existing rail located underneath the radio. The plastic rider for the existing radio was attached so you would simply slide the radio in. With this kit however the plastic rider would not remain connected the the radio because the metal clip must be turned 90 degrees in order for it to pass through the dash opending. The existing rail tappered off towards the rear so the black plastic rider would fall off if positioned to far rearward. My simple solution was to tape an appropriated sized piece of packing foam (approximately 2") to the back of the rider so it could be set in place without falling off. Then it was a simple matter to push the new radio through the dash opening into the metal clip from the kit. Alternatively, the rider could be attached to the rail or you could use some wire to limit its rearward travel.

This helped a lot on install on my '99 Mustang. While you did have to make
sure it was turned right and keep the wires out of the way it was
necessary in my radio install.

really a wasteoftime

Tried to use this adapter, however the design was very poor. Decided not to use it after
playing with it for over an hour.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I used this bracket to install a new Kenwood system on my 2000 Mustang and this bracket worked great for me. With a little patience and some care my radio slid right in without any problems.

I didn't see any valid use for it so I didn't use it. Glad I didn't after reading other reviews.

Great Idea (Needs to be modified to work!)

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This was a great idea and I would have given it a 5 if it hadn't wiped out my 1st radio. I have a 1998 Ford Mustang and it does need this extra support however, the bracket is too universal to safely work with my radio/car. I attempted to install my 1st new pioneer DEH-P600UB however when I gave the final push into the dash the bracket rode up into the rear circuit board and short the radio out. I was heading down the same path when I went in for dinner after some additional thinking I realized that the bracket was the source of my difficulties. I then removed it and cut 1/4" off the bottom of it filed it smooth, bent it down and what do you know the radio slid in like a glove. 1.5 hours of pushing ended on a happy note. Yes, its a good idea but, Crutchfield needs to enclose a warning on bright orange paper stating "This is a universal bracket please use care when inserting radio since the bracket my need to be adjusted to work properly" If I had know ahead of time this simple fact my life would have been much better. Again my bad I Assumed that it was a sure thing and I was the problem next time I'll know better. :)

I installed it as instructed, but it fell off of the track because it doesn't fit very well. I figured it best to not use it at all since it would rattle and fall off again.

Nice idea that didn't work

I tried using this part on my 1994 Ford Ranger Splash and it didn't work. I took it out and installed my unit without it and everything works great.
