Looks great; fits well. I'm not sure how it will hold up while bouncing around the boonies.

Pros: Looks good Fits well Easy to install

Cons: Light weight design did not include back strap and receiver movement may lead to failure. I'm not sure if this will hold up to the rigors of off roading.

Not an amazing product, it fit my dash fine, but my stereo doesn't fit perfect flush. It's a minor annoyance just because I'm a perfectionist. It is also a tad bit flimsy, it could be made of a stronger plastic or a metal but it serves its purpose good enough.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It does exactly what it is supposed to. My receiver fits securely into this and looks nice

Pros: A perfect fit. The color and finish are close enough to factory that it looks very nice. It came with phillips head screws so I can switch out the factory bolts that held the radio in place if I wanted to . . . and I did. Now I can use a single screwdriver to do the dash and radio removal if I want to make any changes in the future.

Cons: none. I have no negative issues to report at this time. The screw holes all matched up. The receiver fit perfectly into it. It felt like a good secure mount when the receiver was slid into place.

2001 Jeep Wrangler
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It works for what I needed, but is flimsy so if you push the buttons with a solid push, the radio shifts in the dash. Part of it is the mounting system, not fully securing the radio into the bracket (needs a more solid method of holding it). It does work, and I'm not so unhappy that I would take it out and replace it.

Cons: Does not hold firmly

This filler component allowed us to install the standard radio into the factory space on our 95 Dodge Ram 1500. The piece looks like part of the original factory dash once installed. The plastic tabs align perfectly with the stock dash components to make installation very easy. Thanks! Jim

Pros: Black Color matches factory dash. Even if it didn't it could be painted to match any color. Plastic tabs fit stock dash sub-structure components, no screws or fasteners are required. No gaps between radio and filler, no unsightly cracks or voids

Does Not Support Dodge Ram Van Receiver

Written by: Jamie from California on April 6, 2015

The website says this is what my 96 Dodge Ram Van needed. It does not hold the single din receiver. I had to go to a stereo shop, and the guy knew exactly which Metra dash kit I needed. Very similar but has brackets that support the stereo in the large space. Wasted money and had to go find the correct one. Bit of a bummer.

Pros: Probably works fine for the correct vehicle.

Cons: Did not work for my vehicle even though the online vehicle tool said it did. Only posting a review incase someone has a 96 Dodge Ram that needs a dash kit. Call for help first.

Crutchfield response on April 14, 2015 We have confirmed this was the correct kit for the Dodge RAM Van. It's a custom kit that Metra builds specifically for Crutchfield, and we've used it in many vehicles for years. The other kit that you purchased is most likely Metra's standard kit for these vehicles. It's more generic, so it'll work in even more vehicles, and can sometimes cause confusion during the installation. But either kit will do the job. When using this kit, be sure that you bend the tabs securely on the stereo's DIN sleeve (the metal cage included with your new stereo) in order to form a rigid mount. That will ensure that the stereo is held firmly in place. Meanwhile, since this kit didn't work out for you, we have refunded the price of it to your credit card.

Dashkit...

Written by: Multi Jeeper from California on April 5, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It's handy, and works... but There are things that could be better about it. For one, it needs to be stronger. Seems to flex more than I'd like. Might need some fibers added to the plastic mix to tighten it up. Next, I would pay more for a kit that cam with multiple mounting options. What if I wanted the head unit at the top of the adapter... or the bottom... ? I am stuck with it being right in the middle. If it was higher or lower, then I could mount some switches in the available space... or mount a jack or several, for a rear aux input, or USB input. Just seems like this adapter could have been far more developed and better designed.

Pros: Quick and easy

Cons: Lack of options Not as strong as I'd like

This was the first time I ever purchased the installation kit with a stereo, and I will never go without it again. For just a few bucks, all of the hassle of rounding up the required connectors and making the stuff fit was gone. The finished product looks great too. Fits PERFECTLY. I do autobody repair for a living, tearing into a dash is a very normal thing for me. That said, I will still buy the install kit the next time I get a stereo. Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

A perfect fit for the 2000 Durango I just replaced the stereo for. The textured, yet "flat" (read: not shiny) finish is perfect for that interior as well, and doesn't stand out against the new stereo. Perfect, snug, fit that doesn't allow for wiggling around or anything of the sorts.

Pros: Perfect fit, Easy to Install

Cons: None

Loose Fit

Written by: dwl from Pennsylvania on June 20, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The template was easy to use, but the fit seems really loose. When we press the buttons on the stereo the whole thing moves around. The tabs that keep the stereo in the faceplate don't create a tight fit.

Cons: Loose fit

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This product was instrumental in a simple installation process for the new stereo. However, it did not fit the 1997 Dodge RAM 1500 SLT as perfectly as other kits I have used from Crutchfield. I was able to adapt and overcome the challenges it presented, with little effort. I am a little, just a little, disappointed with this product.

Pros: Helped ease installation

Cons: Was not a 'perfect' fit, but did the job with slight adjustments

1998 Dodge Caravan
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This will work for the stated application, but having used hits similar to these in the past, I was aware that if the installation space is large and the receiver has any weight to it, the receiver can move around a bit and seem unanchored in the rear and while the front looks good, touching and using the unit can make it seem very unsteady, so I did some searching and found a different adapter for my unit also made by Metra that has support and works awesome. This would probably work with a vehicle with less internal dash space but with my mini van... would be a nightmare.

Pros: nice finish ... looks great... fills gaps

Cons: No support for rear of receiver which is a must have if used in a larger vehicle.

This in dash kit came with the radio for my wife's Jeep Cherokee. It was easy to install and fit perfectly, after removing the dash trim that just pulls off starting at the bottom. You will need to put the car's shift lever in the low position to get the panel off if the shift is a console shift. Fallow the direction and it's a snap.

Pros: Easy to install. fits good , and looks good.

Exactly did what I needed it to do. Looks amazing. Was a little nervous I was sent the wrong part but then realized I had it upside down. Flipped it around and it fit great besides one tab. But the instructions did say to just break off the tab if it doesn't work for your setup. The screws provided didn't work for me but I just used the old ones which worked perfectly.

Pros: Looks great, Easy to install.
