Metra 40-EU10 Antenna Adapter for 2102 Ram 1500

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Easy/perfect fit between radio and existing antenna connection.

Pros: Easy fit, good price, perfect link.

Cons: Info on special fitting (existing) disconnection would be helpful. Had to squeeze tight with pliers.

Just works

Works As Designed

Written By KoreyK, Olathe, KS on Monday, October 27, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This item works fine, as expected. I don't know why they need to make this item so long. This makes it difficult yo tuck all the wires behind the aftermarket HU --- as it is always a tight fit. If the OE antenna reached the OE stereo, it will reach an aftermarket stereo as well. Thus, this item doesn't need to be so long.

Pros: Works

Cons: Could be shorter

Written By DonaldB, Greenwood, IN on Saturday, August 30, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Don't know why the automotive industry can't standardize radio antenna connections; but this adapter seems to be necessary for many applications. Given that space to install a bigger unit is limited this is just one more component to get into an already crowded space.

Pros: Good quality

Cons: None

Doesn't fit a 07 durango!

Crutchfield response on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 After speaking with the customer, our tech support team discovered that his truck was a "transition vehicle" which used some parts from the previous model year (not uncommon when truck manufacturers update body styles). He actually needed the harness for the 2006 Durango, which we promptly sent to him. There would've been no way to know this ahead of time until actually removing the radio.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This came with my order of a Pioneer FH-X700BT for our 2008 Town And Country van. It works exactly as you'd expect and allows you to pull in AM/FM stations. I couldn't be happier with it.

Pros: Works exactly as you expect

Cons: It is idiot proof but this idiot was still able to improperly install it the first time. FM stations came in in my garage but stopped after a couple of days as the cable had not been pushed far enough into the Chrysler harness. I had to take things apart and do it right the second time.

50/50 on this adapter

Written By Chad, Jefferson, OH on Friday, January 10, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I got one for free with my stereo purchase. I had problems getting the square plastic end to connect to the truck. I felt I really had to force it just to get a signal. Called tech support and confirmed I had the right adapter and was told if I could not get it to work they would send me a new one. When I tried to disconnect it, the cable pulled out of the plastic housing. I wanted the stereo to be complete that day so I just ran to a local electronics store and bought a new one (identical to the one they sent with the stereo). The new one connected easily and was a perfect fit without using any force. Signal is crystal clear and seem to get the same reception I had on the factory system. I'm assuming the first one I got was defective????

Pros: The 2nd one I bought was very simple plug in and go. Good reception

Cons: Defective product for the first one, but hey for the price, I can't complain too much... Seems like it is cheaply made and will be a hit or miss product.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I can't really rate this item so I gave it a 3. I have a 2013 Ram 1500 and wanted to change out the factory unit because it didn't come with a CD player. I purchased through Crutchfield a Pioneer DEH-X8500BH deck (WHICH IS AWESOM!) and this was the antenna adapter they sent with it. It did not work however. I looked on Metra's website and they say to use their 40-EU55 European antenna adapter. I found a store in town that had it and it worked fine, I was able to tune in both FM and AM band stations with it. I have no ill will toward Crutchfield, Chrysler is more to blame I think since they try to make it so hard to use aftermarket products on their vehicles which makes it hard for companies like Crutchfield to research what products work and what ones don't. Crutchfield did return my money for the purchase as well.

Complete JUNK! DO NOT BUY!

Written By wMatteo, KC, KS on Wednesday, May 22, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is antenna is complete JUNK! It technically fits, and converts the antenna from my 2012 Dodge Avenger to my Pioneer AVH-X8500BHS head unit - but gets no-to-hardly-any reception - at best, you can pick up static on 99% of the stations, and maybe one location station, and at worst (normally this is what you get) you get nothing but static. If I pull out the head unit, and play w/the cable, I can sometimes get some reception, but it's just terrible. There are no lose connections - it's as tight as it could be on both ends, so that's not the issue - I can get perfect reception by just connecting plain speaker wires from the old antenna to the receptacle on receiver - so I know it all works - this adapter just FAILS THAT BAD! Look at all the other reviewers with the same problem and DO NOT BUY!

Pros: NONE! It's wasted more of my time that it was worth to buy or ship back - will not be getting any more "recommended" adapters from crutchfield again after this purchase.

Cons: EVERYTHING! You'll get better results not using any adapter than trying to use this garbage!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The keyed end of this that goes into the vehicle cable would not allow for connection so I broke off the plastic surrounding the actual connector and was able to secure it to the cable from the antenna. Some tape gives a bit of support for the connection but may not be necessary.

Pros: It worked.

Cons: The keyed plastic adapter would not mate correctly.

Written By JacquesD, Atalnta, GA on Monday, January 28, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The first one sent did not work - the connection was loose. The second one did. Must make sure the connections go all the way into the other end (radio & car). If they are loose or poorly fitted it will not work no matter how much you mess with it. The car side must close the gap entirely to be seated.

A little long

Written By MattN, Cameron, NC on Saturday, January 19, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Needed this to put a Kenwood Excelon KDC-X696 in my BMW E46. The length of it made it a little difficult to slide the radio in. It kept getting in the way, and I had to take out my AC controls to maneuver the radio in. Also, I had to tape the connection that plugged into the radio because it kept sliding out. The cable is stiff and doesn't bend very well. I would've been happier with an adapter plug. I didn't look into other options & left it up to Crutchfield.

Pros: Fit my radio.

Cons: Lengthy, stiff cable. Had to tape the connection.

Not Usable

Written By Anonymous, San Marcos TX on Saturday, December 15, 2012

I received two of these, and neither worked in my 2008 Dodge Dakota Extended Cab. The first one would no fit, so I called tech support that essentially said that I had a bad one. A second was sent to experience the same thing. I called tech support to simply tell me to go to a nearby store to find one that does work. In desperation I rigged it by stripping the wire and using electrical tape. Done.

Pros: Plugs into the aftermarket radio

Cons: Does not plug into the vehicle connect

When I originally snapped this into the plug from the car ( 2012 Dodge Avenger) I thought it went all the way in, but after driving around was getting a lot of static. I decided to pull it back out and check and sure enough i didn't have it all the way in. The thing is it wouldn't go any further with just pushing with your fingers i had to get some pliers and carefully squeeze them together until it finally snapped in...now all is good

This adapter was supposed to fit the vehicle connector of the 2012 Jeep Liberty. It is ,in fact too large to make contact. Pros: It's simple, it works

Cons: Well, it could have been shorter, I guess.

Does what it's supposed to

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Euro antennas are useless. I've had boosted adapters and non boosted...none work well. I simply put on a regular antenna and voila- excellent reception.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This adapter worked perfectly on my 2006 Mini Cooper where I was inserting an off the shelf Aux Input adapter in line with the antenna input to allow the use of an Ipod or XM radio through the factory radio. However, if doing anything similar to this, you will need both male and female adapters listed. Overall, another great product.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This antenna did not work with the Kenwood DNX7120 in a 2008 Dodge Sprinter Van. Crutchfield did not offer any other european style antennas. We found there are a total of 3 types and the one for the power antenna was the one that we bought that worked. Of course it was the 3rd one we bought.
