Overview

Volkswagen uses a non-standard jack on its antenna cable that won't plug into your new replacement radio. This simple in-line adapter has a standard male Motorola antenna plug on one end, and a female Volkswagen/Audi jack on the other. Just connect your Volkswagen antenna cable to the adapter, then plug it into your new radio, and you're good to go. Warranty: 60 days.

Just connect your Volkswagen antenna cable to the adapter, then plug it into your new radio, and you're good to go. Warranty: 60 days.

If you're adding an FM modulator to your factory stereo, a second adapter is also required. One adapter will connect to your factory stereo, while the second connects to your factory antenna cable. Your FM modulator installs inline between the two adapters.

Made an install go smoothly. Very helpful little part

Not for Oldsmobile Aurora 2001- 2003

Written by: Brian from leander, TX on March 15, 2016

You need a flexible cable adapter. Adapter does not work in Oldsmobile Aurora 2001-2003 because the antenna cable from the car is in a fixed mount.

Pros: Cheap, if it works and does convert the European connection to the American one.

Cons: Does not function in 2001 - 2003 Oldsmobile Aurora.

Why is Crutchfield asking for a review on this? It is dumb simple to install and works as advertized. Only problem you could have is not correctly identifying the system you are replacing and the system you are installing. The adapter has to match both.

It fits correctly with my vehicle and aftermarket stereo, however, I get very poor reception. From some research, I've found that the reason is that my Audi has a powered antenna, which this adapter does not accommodate. Without the power boost, I can only get one station, and spottily at that.

Pros: Fits correctly

Cons: Is not powered, and thus gets inadequate reception.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Works fine for the E36. The car had a factory trunk mounted cd changer and the connection for that is a large black wire that looks like COAX. For a few minutes I thought that the wire was the antenna lead and that I was in trouble becuase the connection was a 10 pin connector and the adapter wouldnt work. After a few minutes i realized that the antenna wire is the smaller black wire with a 90 degree connector on the end. The adapter fit perfectly and the signal is fine.
