Q
The current antenna coaxial connection is incorrect for my kenwood DDX318 radio, it's too small. I'm wondering if this is a conversion cable to attach the larger, 90° antennae connection piece I have? The OEM gives pour signal, as it's quite loose...

if i remember correctly, i believe it's the same as standard OEM. You mentioned your connection is loose, i'm sure you've already tried bending little tabs on male end into your radio.

I believe this Extension cable is the same size as the stock one, It just adds length to the stock cable. The Female connection part could be a little longer but it's similar in size.

Q
how is this installed? and is this only for Motorola units or is that just who makes the cable?

IT is for all units. It extends the length of the existing antenna wire. In my case I used it to extend the antenna wire to from the dash to the center console were I mounted a new radio.

It is for any AM/FM radio that has this style plug. "Motorola" is the type of plug. There are also "RCA" jacks for speakers. These are the manufacturers that developed them many years ago. I'm using this shielded extension in my boat to get the "wire antenna" past the instruments under my dash so there is no electronic interference with the radio.

This a universal antenna cable. We used when installing a radio in a backhoe. It just plugs in.
