Product Research

Features

Application: This is a universal amplified antenna that can be used in applications where a conventional telescoping/power antenna is not desired. It is designed with separate amplifiers for the AM and FM bands, which improves the reception and gives you the maximum performance. You will have to supply the antenna with power using the 12V cable that is attached to the antenna cable. The antenna has self-adhesive pads on the bottom so you can mount it to any window in your vehicle. The antenna should be grounded to reduce any potential noise. A red LED confirms that the antenna is on. The package includes a plastic prying tool for removing the antenna when necessary.

Signal Gain:

  • FM: 10-12 dB
  • AM: 2-5 dB

Customer Q&A

Q
I just today discovered this antenna on a hot rod I bought. Its antenna cable was not attached to the radio so was not working. The antenna was attached to the inside lip of the trunk opening. Can this antenna work when on the inside of steel like this?
keith p.  Sep 06, 2020

A
Not completely sure. Signal might be dampened if it's in the trunk. I put mine inside at the top of my front windshield and have never had a problem. Seems to work quite good.

A
No clue. I bought it for a friend and he has it on his dash
victor  Sep 06, 2020
Q
Would more vertical orientation help? I would think so because the transmitting antenna is vertical... but then if I mount it along the side of my windshield it will be at about a 45 degree angle.

I never tried that approach for my antenna but that is a reasonable consideration. I mounted my antenna just above the rear view mirror horizontally, centered , and even with headliner of my 1970 Buick GS. Works great, better than being placed on dash

Q
Can this antenna be hidden within the rear bumper cover of a car (sedan)?

Mine is mounted on the inside wall of a fiberglass truck camper and works fine.
vincent  May 22, 2019
A
Probably. It would depend upon the space available, but I think it would work.

Q
How is this held in place? 2 way tape? Suction cups?
jeffinhudson  Sep 11, 2018

A
It has two adhesive pads on the reverse side of the antenna. When it is placed (only on the inside) of the vehicle, it will be hard to remove. So, make sure it is placed correctly at the spot you would like it to be.

It comes with 2way tape. It has stayed in place so far. Antennae is awesome. I like to listen to am radio. This car could receive zero am stations with factory antennae. Now it receives as good or better reception than all my other vehicles. This antennae is well worth the twenty bucks.

I used the tape that came with it but i put it on the metal above the glass to hide it. Works fine
timothy  Sep 11, 2018

Had to retape it then it was good.

Q
What is the length of the antenna and power cable? thanks
eugene  Jun 21, 2018
3 answers
A
Dont know the exact length but it was long enoughto run from dash to rear window of my pickup
timothy  Jun 25, 2018
A
I don't remember the exact length but it's had enough cable to run without any problems
larry  Jun 25, 2018
A
Tip to tip is approximately 13.5 inches. The cable is quite long. Plenty of cable left over from mounting behind rear view mirror, run along windshield trim, down A pillar, underneath to stereo head unit. I had to zip tie up the extra cable at the stereo.
derek  Jun 25, 2018
Q
I must be dense, but if you mount this at the top of your window behind the rearview mirror how do you hide the wires?
larry  Dec 21, 2017

A
Hey Larry, I mounted the antenna on the back of the rear window and ran the wires up and underneath the window molding. I build cars for a living and have installed several stereos over the years and sometimes if you don't have a interior molding around the window, you can tuck the wire up underneath the headliner. hope this helps. Steve
steve  Dec 23, 2017
A
I do not mount it there. Though you could run the wires up the A-channel and come down from the headliner. I mount it hidden in the car but not under steel.
thomas  Dec 21, 2017
A
If you mount it at the top of the window the only way to hide the wires is to run up into the headliner or around the top of the windshield. I actually mounted mine at the bottom of the window just above the defroster vent and run the wires down through the vent hole under the dash in my 1956 International pick up.

Q
I want to install this on the inside of the rear window. Will aftermarket tint affect the reception?
scott  Feb 26, 2017
1 answer
A
I put mine in the front windshield at the top middle right behind my review mirror. So I never noticed it. My truck had the dark tinted strip along the top. It worked just fine. As long as the tint isn't the mirrors tint, I would not think it would bother the reception one bit. As far as the damaging the tint, it might if the antenna is ripped off.

Q
Can you connect this to a Y splitter as an add-on to the existing stock antenna?
dad  Nov 30, 2015
1 answer
A
No - from an engineering point of view because of the impedance mismatch. From a reality point of view it might work.
randy  Dec 01, 2015
Q
I'm trying to verify how this is supposed to be wired. The wire near the antenna jack, is that supposed to get 12v? Then the wire near the antenna itself, is that ground? I can't believe there are no instructions included.

Alex, I attached the vww wire to the blue/white "antenna" wire on the back of your receiver's wiring harness to provide power to the antenna.
