Installing an aftermarket receiver in some late model Chrysler vehicles requires a switched accessory power supply. This Metra XSVI-6502-NAV interface supplies the necessary accessory power lead, plus the other wires you'll need to hook up a new car stereo. The interface also contains the parking brake wire, VSS wire, and other wires that you'll need to hook up a navigation receiver. Warranty: 1 year.
Please enter your vehicle information or call an Advisor at 1-888-955-6000 to find out if this model is compatible with your vehicle.

As a lot of folks have said, the directions were a little confusing at first, but once I studied them a bit (plus a phone call with Crutchfield Tech Support) I was able to understand what they were referring too. For those technically minded and expecting lengthy instructions, that's not the deal with the instructions for this. It's basic and simple...this color wire is for...front left speaker, rear right speaker, etc...). You then need to look at your new stereo harness and see what wire it's referring too and then connect it to that one. Very basic in directions, just don't try to dig deeper like I did at first. The beauty of this, is that I was able to make all of my connections for my new head unit (Pioneer AVH-4100NEX) in the house before actual installation. Once it came time for installation, that took less than 5 minutes once I had my dash apart.
Pros: Ease of installation for my Double DIN head unit.
Cons: This really isn't a Con, but directions are point blank and simple. This color wire is for (connects to) "etc". It's actually that easy. So don't be like me and make a mountain out of a mole hill!! :)
Works perfectly. Just make sure you plug the right connector into the black box. It doesn't work out the connector and plug in the other connector and it will work.
Pros: customer support was fantastic.
Cons: Wish there was a way to keep the clock on the radio on for more than a couple of seconds.
This is great arrived on time easy to install.
Pros: Easy Install
I used this harness to install a Pioneer single din head unit in my 2007 Ram 2500. After installation, the head unit did not work. Took this harness to a local installer and found out the box may need to have the firmware updated. After downloading the required programs the firmware unpated from 2.1 to 2.5. Reinstalled into the truck and the head unit worked properly. Would have been nice if Crutchfield noted that there is a possibility that the box may need an update to work properly.
Being one of the people who doesn't have Navigation or Steering wheel controls, I probably would have been better off directly splicing the factory harness from Alpine.
it just worked, easy to install
Pros: Good length of wire
Cons: Not very descriptive of what wires are what needs better diagram also kinda confusing says for nav but my truck didn't have nav so didn't know if I needed the little black box or notCrutchfield response on August 24, 2015 Whenever you encounter a problem with anything you purchase from Crutchfield, especially a situation like this, please contact our tech support team right away. They can help you solve the problem and get the stereo installed and working. We forwarded this review to our Technical Support team for follow-up. Easy to splice together with my Kenwood deck. Has many extra wires just not being used. Needs a better module design.
Pros: Heavy gauge wire. Easy to splice together.
Cons: Has wires for factory navigation and non navigation stereos. So the non used wires are taking up space and adds weight.
Works, but it has a lot of extra wires that make it messy
Easy to hook up
Pros: Easy to hook up, works as it should
Makes swapping out the factory for aftermarket audio system as easy as possible. Simply connect the corresponding color coded wires from the Metra interface to the factory harness and you're in business. Only 4 stars because directions could be more clear and should explain that there will be wires and connectors that are not used depending upon specific application. For example, if your vehicle doesn't have Navigation, power antenna, or radio controls you won't need those connections to be made. The black "box" (labeled Axxess in picture) is required. I didn't realize this and had no power to receiver until a call to tech support advised me correctly.
Pros: Provides seamless connection for aftermarket receiver
Cons: Clarity of instructions
This is essential for installing a aftermarket radio in the new dodges. Plus Crutchfield gave me a discount since I purchased the stereo from them
Great instructions came with it and matched up perfectly in my 2006 dodge ram 1500 quad cab. Only downside is I don't have nav so I have a ton of extra wire I dont need.
Pros: Simple instructions.
Cons: Needs to be separate packaging for nav and for without nav
2005 Dodge Magnum SE - This made the install very very easy. Gave reverse and parking breaking wires right there behind the radio without having to trace down wires and tap into them.
Pros: Very easy install. Very Very convenient.
Cons: Instructions are amazingly bad. After spending about 30 minutes looking at them and reading online i was able to figure it out.
Works fine, no issues with install.
Pros: Makes wiring easy to plug and play in chryslers.
Adapted easily to existing car connection... but wiring color exceptions and instructions a little cryptic. Got it in, but took longer than expected, and used meter to confirm currents were working...
Pros: Worked on 2008 Dodge Ram
Cons: Poor wiring instructions included, and did not provide any insight on exception wiring based on truck model, year.
IT DID THE JOB BUT DIRECTIONS COULD HAVE BEEN MORE CLEAR.
Worked perfectly!!!!!! Crutchfield is awesome!!
Works great easy to wire up
Pros: Easy hook up
Pros: Easy to use.
Cons: Didn't need the wires for Nav
makes the whole installation a breeze and its free with qualifing head units.
Pros: makes installation a breeze
I had a little difficulties with the wiring section, primarily due to my lack of experience. But, after a few attempts I finally got it and in retrospect I made it a bit harder on myself than I needed to. All things aside, this adapter simply works and saved me from having to splice into my OEM harness, possibly ruining it in the process. I recommend this product to whom ever is interested in avoiding the process of splicing your car's harness and saving yourself time and money.
Pros: - Simple - Great price
great harness fit very well in my 07 ram 1500
Pros: easy of hook up
These kits make for a clean quick install. Makes it so you don't have to cut up the factory harness.
Had tried a cheaper wiring harness purchased elsewhere, it didn't work. This one worked great the first time. Was a really easy install. Installed this in a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 no navigation. Replaced the factory radio with an aftermarket kenwood receiver. This worked Great. I'll use Crutchfield first next time. Especially appreciated the instructions that were specific to MY vehicle which made it even easier.
worked, was expecting plug to plug not wiring. instructions were clear and concise
Easy to install. Had all necessary wires plus the price was half of what it would be buying it anywhere else.
Pros: Great price, easy installation.
Wire colors match stereo harness wich makes install very easy!
Simple to use and the instructions are fairly clear.
Pros: Blue to blue, yellow to yellow, etc....
Cons: Way too many extra leads for the NAV which I personally didn't need.
Great product for those of you with radios that stay on when you take out the key. If you have volume controls on the steering wheel this is not the right product. Make your life easier during the radio install by sitting down at a bench with some shrink tubing and some solder. Do it right the first time.
Made installation super easy for the do-it-yourself person. Plug and go.
Pros: Ease of install
Perfect plug-in fit for my 06 Ram!
Pros: Exact fit to factory connector!
Cons: still have to buy it, but at least at 50% off!
Made installation very handy. Connect the colors and plug it in. That's all it takes.
Pros: Ease of use
Great product!!! Half off with purchase of stereo is amazing, it can be hard spending that extra $ on what you need to install your stereo when you are on a budget and want to be able to afford the best one for your vehicle.
Pros: Color coding made for an easy home install!!!
Cons: More than I needed, but good to know when I get my newer Dodge it will support whatever options it may come with.
easy to install and works perfect
Pros: easy to use and makes installation of aftermarket stereo a breeze
Cons: alot of wire to hide
Made installation easy and didn't have to damage the original wiring in the car.
very hassle free. wires were color coded correctly. they even pre cut the wires so I can remove the outer plastic of the wired so I could start connecting with the car reciever.
Pros: it works. pretty easy to install. wire tips are pre cut.
Cons: no cons. :)
Very easy installation. Works as advertised. Can't beat the price.
Super easy to install
Got this for my mitsubishi raider 2006 with my new stereo and glad I bought this with it. Made my car stereo installation easier and faster! Did my car stereo less than an hour because of this interface adapter
Pros: easy to install, wire color are all the same
If you don't get this with your stereo, then you are wasting your time and about to do a hack job on your installation. This made the install all of about 10 minutes and worked perfectly!
Pros: Easy install
The adapter worked perfectly and connected into the existing wiring with no problems.
This product was very helpful. It was exactly what I needed and interfaced well with my adapter. Crutchfield is the best by far.
Worked just as it says. Easy install! Good product.
Worked great after a call to Crutchfield's excellent customer service. The adapter is universal for Dodge it works for the 4 speaker system of the SLT and the 7 speaker system of the Laramie with or without NAV. But the instructions do not accurately describe this leaving several unused wires on the 4 speaker system. a quick call to Crutchfield solved all problems but would have had a five star review if the instructions were more clear the adapter worked perfectly.
Pros: works great makes wiring easier
Cons: instructions not detailed enough for a universal adapter
Overall, this is a good head unit for the money. Considerably better sound than the factory system in my 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. My choice was made on price, Bluetooth capability, hands-free cell capability, and Pandora app integration. Using an iPhone 4s, things work as described, for the most part. Installation was easy once I got the right harness. I originally ordered the unit with the wrong harness because I didn't realize my vehicle had the Boston Acoustics sound system in it. Crutchfield handled the exchange quickly and accurately. Upon installing the unit with the correct harness, I discovered, with the help of Crutchfield Tech Support, that the CAN interface with the new harness was defective. Exchange was again handled very efficiently, and ultimately the unit was installed quite easily and worked great. My biggest complaint is that for some reason, even with a great cell signal and no other apps interfering, Pandora will just intermittently pause for no apparent reason, and occasionally the head unit will not display the track information from the app. There is apparently a sequence to hooking up and turning everything on that must be followed to get everything to play together nicely. But for the price, the sound is great with my factory speakers, and the hands-free feature for cell calls is outstanding and has worked perfectly for me for the month I've been using it. It works perfectly with Siri on my iPhone, and the call quality is good both ways.
Pros: Great price, great sound, all the features I was looking for and everything works as described, very easy installation, very customizable display (colors, backgrounds, etc.), rear USB port that is powered and will charge my devices, microphone cable and USB cable supplied are plenty long and decent quality, picks up my cell phone via Bluetooth instantly when the unit powers on.
Cons: Clock display is VERY small, almost unreadable from the driver's position, no sleeve for removable face,
after 2 previous products from scosche that did not work this one did plain and simple thanks CRUTCHFIELD
Pros: EASY TO INSTALL
The product works as designed. The problem I have is when purchasing my radio it wasn't clear what this was for or that it was needed. On a hunch I bought it thinking it might be cheap insurance. I ended up needing it so I'm glad I bought it. There also are no instructions included with the product so you need to guess at what its for or how to use it. Need better instructions and more information to get 5 stars.
Very helpful and easy to use!
Cons: Over priced a bit I think
This adapter does what it is supposed to do, so it is good.
Not sure what can be said about a wiring harness, but it works as described.
Pros: Ease of use.
Cons: Tad expensive.
It works as advertised.
bought this along with my kenwood radio..nice product and easy to install
Using this interface mads the installation quick and painless. Just coordinate and connect the wires, plug in and go. Much easier than splicing into the heater power line. Works as it should.
Pros: Easy install. Works as it should.
Cons: None really. A bit pricey, but worth it.
Installs and works just as advertised.
Works, but a way overpriced.
Pros: Works, comes with everything you need.
Had several extra wires and connector that I didn't know what to do with. Called Crutchfield and they gave me correct info to install.
I will never replace a car stereo without crutchfield
Pros: Everything is perfect !!
I used this adapter to install a Clarion head unit into my 07 Grand Cherokee. It worked like a charm! The hardest part of connecting this to everything was making sure you didn't turn it into a rat's nest of wires. I recommend using zip ties to keep it all in check. I think the only reason this isn't working for others is the fact you have to hook it up to your vehicle's wiring harness and turn the vehicle on to initialize the module BEFORE attaching the head unit to the other end - totally not Crutchfield or Metra's fault - it's in the directions.
Pros: Easy to hook up - just match the colors!
Did not work when I try to install this on my Kenwood radio.
Cons: Instructions not helpful
The instructions were a little confusing at first glance. It does retain the buzzers and bells. The function of turning the radio on and off like the factory set-up does leaves a lot to be desired. It takes a long time to turn on. When you shut the vehicle off it some times turns off right away and others won't shut off until the doors are shut after exiting the vehicle. It is supposed to stay on until a door is opened.
Pros: Compact and easy to find a place to put it. Retains the factory warning sounds.
Cons: Confusing instructions. Doesn't work as advertised.
made installation a lot easier, all connections are made prior to installing the head unit
Pros: retain factory warning chimes
I installed the adapter with no problems. I just matched color for color on the wire and everything worked fine.
Pros: Installation directions were great.
Cons: Not sure what the extra jack or the stereo plug were for, I just left them unused. I had trouble removing antenna plug from OEM radio, wish I knew what part of plug came out of radio.
Save's lots of time in the vehicle. All connections were made prior to installation. Once in the vehicle it plugged right in. Maintains some of the factory original "features" such as delayed shutdown until door is opened. Eases installation by having all wiring pre-labled and attached before ever entering the vehicle. Worked great with the ASWC module to retain my steering wheel controls. Everything was auto detected great.
Pros: Speeds installation. Retains some factory radio features. Pre-Wired for the steering wheel control module.
Cons: Does not retain ALL features of factory installation. For instance I no longer have radio information displayed on my heads up display.
I almost decided against using this adapter. Glad I changed my mind. With a little bit of Solder and heat shrink I had a very nice adapter. Not only did it make my life easier installing my new Clarion VX401 but it had the added benefit of adapting the reverse circuit in to engage the backup camera!! What a bonus! No searching for that light!
Pros: Has reverse indicator built in for backup camera, all wires were plug and play after some bench soldering.
Cons: Horrible instruction
Works well, I had to splice a bunch of wires but the color code matches up. Could have better instructions.
Pros: Easy to install. Plugs and wires match up. Works as it should.
Cons: The instructions could be more complete.
This works perfectly. All connections worked perfectly as well. I would recommend this to anyone.
Pros: color coded
This product was exactly what I needed. This harness was used in a 2005 Grand Cherokee Laredo that had a factory stock radio, without navigation and without Boston acoustics sound, and without an inline amp pre-installed in the jeep. The grey harness plugged directly into my factory harness and the remaining wires connected to the wiring harness that was supplied by the jvc radio. Within 10 minutes the wires were connected and the radio was in place. Awesome Product.
Pros: Easy connecting and color connection at it's finest. There was a few wires I did not use due to no power antenna, and no steering wheel controls but not an issue
While this part is not absolutely necessary, it is very nice to for a quick and easy install to replace the factory unit. Mind you, I just had the basic factory CD radion with no NAV any other fancy stuff. The part provides a 12v source that doesn't exist on the factory wiring harness. Otherwise, you would need to run a line from the 12v power port or the fuse panel. Another thing that is provided is the music is on after you take the key out until you open the door. It is not bad at $35, I would not have purchased it at the full price.
Pros: Keeps the power to the radio after the key is removed until the door opens. Provides input for the optional module that connects to steering wheel controls. After wiring up, made for a quick install into the car
Cons: Not absolutely necessary and a bit pricey. Had to use double stick tape to secure the box containing the circuitry.
This is a very complicated review for me, so please bear with me.
First, I don't know that I needed this necessarily as I couldn't find anything definitive that said positively yes or no I didn't need the part, other than Allen at Crutchfield and the site saying I did. I'm not an electronics guru by any means, so I can't speak to whether or not it was necessary. What I can say though is that in my 2006 Jeep Commander, it bridged my factory wiring and aftermarket receiver flawlessly.
I installed a Kenwood Receiver in my Commander, replacing the factory head unit. I did not have the Boston Acoustics factory system or navigation, but after simply following the directions to make the connections between this harness/adapter and the Kenwood harness, it was simple plug and play and everything including the switched accessory and operation until the door opens on exiting the vehicle works like a charm.
Again, I do not know that this is truly a necessity if you don't have navigation or the steering wheel controls, but I do know that it works flawlessly in my Jeep Commander. I just hate that the vehicle design is such that any kind of special adapter is required.
Pros: simple to connect and install, easily fit in the space behind the radio in the dash of my vehicle.
Extra wires, extra harness, most incomplete/unhelpful/useless instructions imaginable. I've patched and spliced my share of cables and wires. I am capable of understanding how to do this...but not without some decent instructions. So frustrating to have completely installed my new stereo with this and it isn't working properly. Obviously I've made a mistake. So, I get to remove the stereo, call tech support, and do it all over again.
Pros: Appears to be solid.
Cons: Lack of instructions. All the other problems would have been taken care of with thorough documentation.
Lets start with the obvious. The actual plug for my 2005 Durango's harness was not even a match. This harness came with 5 more wires then my Durango even had. And go figure, even the excess wires were NOT even used, or they were in the wrong location in the plug. Also, if your going to include plugs and connections to be used with the steering wheel controls, how about including ALL OF THE NEEDED COMPONENTS!!! I got so frustrated with the harness problems, I ended up hacking the aftermarket harness down to what I thought I was gonna need. I have installed car audio for over 15 yrs, and have never seen a more worthless harness. Not forgetting my primary problem still exists, the Durango's harness has two mystery wires that nobody seems to know what they are. My new radio powers up just fine, but I have ZERO volume to the speakers.
Cons: HIGHLY OVERPRICED for a component that is not even all there! This product barely has $30 worth of components in it. Harness was not even a complete match-up to my 2005 Durango's harness.Crutchfield response on February 6, 2012 We forwarded this review to our Technical Support team for follow-up. Lifetime tech support comes with every Crutchfield purchase.
Great product that will make your life easier. I bought a JVC head unit and did not get this at first thinking I didn't really need this, well you do! I was under the impression that I may need to run a wire to the glove box for aux. power. The truth is if you don't spend the extra money on this you will need to cut all the wires in your dash. I did speak with an advisor but he didn't stress to me the need for this harness. If you are putting a new H/U in any Chrysler get the harness!!! I only gave this review 4 starts because with a 50% discount it's still costly on top of the new H/U!!!
Overview: The Axxess XSVI-6502-NAV replacement OEM radio interface allows you to install an aftermarket radio in select Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Mitsubishi vehicles. In these vehicles, there are no 12-volt accessory wires in the factory harness, which requires the installer to run an accessory wire to the fuse box or underneath the steering column when installing an aftermarket radio. The XSVI-6502-NAV is designed to provide a 12-volt, 10-amp switched accessory output (red wire), along with a dimmer wire (orange/white wire).
Note: Please consult the Crutchfield Car Selector to see if your vehicle and aftermarket headunit is compatible.
Navigation Ready: The XSVI-6502-NAV provides essential wires required for aftermarket radios that have navigation. VSS (Vehicle Speed Sense), Reverse, and Parking Brake wires are provided. This helps to cut down the installation time, since the installer does not have to look for these wires in the vehicle.
Retained Accessory Power (R.A.P.): The Retained Accessory Power (R.A.P.) function supplies power to the radio after the ignition is shut off until one of the front doors are opened. This function is retained by the XSVI-6502-NAV interface.
OEM Steering Wheel Control Compatible (optional): The XSVI-6502-NAV interface features a right-angle 3.5mm connector that lets you keep your vehicle's OEM steering wheel controls via the optional Axxess Steering Wheel Control Interface (120ASWC1, sold separately).
Note: The Axxess ASWC steering wheel control interface supports the following aftermarket headunit manufactures - Pioneer, Sony, Alpine, Kenwood, Eclipse, JVC, Clarion, Dual, Jensen, Visteon, and Valor. The aftermarket headunit must have a SWC (Steering Wheel Control) 3.5mm input.
Vehicle Compatibility: The XSVI-6502-NAV replacement OEM radio interface module is compatible with the following Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Mitsubishi vehicles.
Note: The XSVI-6502-NAV interface is designed to be used in Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Mitsubishi vehicles without a factory amplified sound system or when replacing the entire factory amplifier system. The XSVI-6502-NAV does not retain your vehicle's factory amplifiers.
Color Codes: Wiring up the XSVI-6502-NAV is like wiring up any other wire harness that would attach to an aftermarket radio's harness. The Metra/EIA wire code can be found on the back of the interface's package that will aid you in the wiring of your aftermarket radio The XSVI-6502-NAV interface contains the following wire leads.
