This vehicle-specific wiring harness makes connections between your new car stereo and your car's electrical system.
First, attach the color-coded wires on your Crutchfield-supplied harness to the wires from your new stereo. If you're not using a soldering iron, we recommend that you purchase some wire connectors to secure the connections. Check out our handy article on three ways to connect the wiring harness here.
Now, once this harness is connected to your new stereo, you'll be able to plug right into your car's factory radio connector. This harness saves installation time since you won't have to cut factory wires individually, and this also enables you to re-install the factory radio if needed. A detailed instruction sheet comes with the harness. Warranty: 60 days.
Please read this important note: This harness may not contain provisions for every wire needed to complete your installation, and it will not accommodate special navigation, video, or factory steering wheel control connections. You will need a special adapter if you want your factory steering wheel audio controls to work with your new stereo.
Note: You'll need to make a ground connection between your new receiver and your car's metal chassis.
Note: Most vehicles will require additional installation parts please identify your vehicle if you haven’t done so. You can also call an Advisor for more information.
Fit like a glove, color codes all matched too. Easy solder and heat shrink job and plug it in!
Crutchfield always works
Cons: wire don't taste good
No problems hooking up stereo with this product
Exactly what was needed.
Perfect fit for 1989 XJ Jeep
Pros: Nice Quality
Wiring compatibility is always the hardest part of car stereo installation. This wiring harness was an exact fit for my Jeep Cherokee. I didn't have to butcher my existing wiring and the process was completed pain free in minimum time.
Pros: Exact fit. Ease of installation. Included free with stereo purchase from Crutchfield.
Quick to put in. It was nice that the ends where pre-cut. no need to have wire strippers.
This works exactly the same as the several other dozen wire harnesses I've bought in the past.
Not much to say. It is exactly what it was advertised as. good quality connector.
Read carefully it will get ur job done nicelly! ;-)
Pros: If u need help crutchfield tech.will help u! Awesome people. ;-)
should have slicers included
Cons: too time consuming
This harness made installing my new stereo nice and clean.
Pros: Great instructions, makes the install clean and simple.
Just what I needed. Came with the Kenwood radio
Pros: Easy to install
Great product. Exact specs per auto and installer friendly. Crutchfield quality product, service and shipping.
Pros: Perfect color code. 5 minute install. Fast shipping and 5 star customer service.
I very pleased having this available, however the previous owner of this Jeep did a nice hack job installing the old stereo. Did not need it but should be able to pass on to one of my Jeep buddy's.
Pros: Service tech was perfect very helpfull
I was glad that you had this adapter in stock. But I was a little disappointed with it. First, one of the leads to the left front speaker was missing. I was able to use a surplus lead to replace it (there were some I didn't need). Second, the connector pins needed a little straightening. Needle nose pliers did the trick. Otherwise it fit perfectly and the color coding matched the receiver's wire harness, so assembly was easy. And you guys provided great directions in the Master Sheet. Very helpful!
Pros: Easy to hook up. Fit the factory connector perfectly.
Cons: One speaker wire missing. Connector pins needed straightening.
Worked great with my factory wiring harness.
Pros: Saves time and helps to make a really clean installation.
Make sure you get this harness. Your install will be quick and easy, even on older systems.
Pros: Easy install.
great idea, made hookup a piece of cake,
Pros: Ease of use, good wiring diagram
Perfect fit for my Jeep. Easy to follow directions as well. It made the installation time take just minutes instead of hours.
Pros: Easy to use, perfect fit, just what I needed
Makes installation a snap. All the colored wires matched the colors of my receiver and made it easy. I connected the wires in the house and then faced the 15 degree winter for the actual install, which was a snap because the connector fit right into the factory plug. The only thing missing was wire crimpers or nuts for connecting the wires.
Pros: Makes installation easy. Instructions are clear.
Cons: Bring your own wire nuts or crimp connectors.
Doesn't get easier than this. Turns a potential nightmare into a walk in the park.
Pros: Simple to set up, solder the purple to the purple, red to red, blue to blue, etc. Plugged right into my new radio, and I was in business.
I used this to install a JVC KD-R820BT into a 1994 Jeep Wrangler. It worked perfectly. I had to play with the "dimmer" and "illumination" leads to see which one I wanted to connect to the radio's illumination lead. I ended up hooking it to the Jeep's "illumination" lead.
I always get a wiring harness from Crutchfield. My son made the mistake one time of cutting away the OEM vehicle harness and wiring his radio directly to the vehicle wires. Later, when he went to sell the car, the purchasers wanted the original radio reinstalled. Oops...no harness and cannot buy the OEM without purchasing the entire radio at $450 bucks (Chevy Impala). Lesson learned. ALWAYS get Crutchfield's adapters!!
Not much to say really. It's a harness. I do recommend soldering the joints rather then using crimp-on connectors. The harness is really long so I ended up cutting 4" off to fit it all behind the dash. Having a proper harness sure beats having to deal with hacked up dash wiring though.
It would be nice if the vendor would sell the adapter pre-wired to a DIN1 connector.
This would eliminate the need to connect the radio supplied DIN1 connector to the
adapter wiring harness. But the color coding to the DIN1 standard makes the
connections a snap.
Also, the dim connections (at least in a Jeep Cherokee) connect to either 12V or
instrument panel dimming, so if the new radio has a dimming connection that
goes to the car light switch control (orange/white stripe wire) the installer needs to
deal with that separately (with no suggestions as to appropriate splice location or
splice connector and wire. The light control to the dim control relay is a good choice
for that connection and splice in a Jeep Cherokee.)
Too complete the wiring of the harness I needed a package of two ended plastic wire connectors and a wire crimping tool to connect the wires. I had the crimper but not the plastic connectors. Still better than using black tape or a soldering iron to connect the wires. A necessity for the installation. Just remember, you still have to use the receiver manual to compare and make sure the wire colors are the same. Also, there may be wires you may not use. All unused wires must be protected by black electrical tape or plastic. Leave no wires exposed where they can touch metal and cause a short.
Fit perfectly. Even the color codes matched up.
Crutchfield Wiring Harness: Crutchfield wiring harnesses prevent you from having to cut your vehicle's factory radio plug when replacing your factory radio with an aftermarket head unit. Simply solder or crimp the Crutchfield wiring harness to your aftermarket head unit's harness (solder & crimps not included), plug the aftermarket head unit's plug into the rear chassis of the aftermarket head unit, and plug the Crutchfield wiring harness into your vehicle's factory radio plug.
Note: Installation tools, hardware, & accessories are not included & sold separately. Please see the Accessories tab for recommendations & availability.
Wiring Notes: If the Crutchfield wiring harness is not equipped with a ground wire, you will need to ground the aftermarket head unit's ground wire to the metal chassis of your vehicle. Some vehicle's may require you to bypass the vehicle's factory amplifier (in another location from factory radio) or hardwire certain connections. If your vehicle is equipped with factory steering wheel controls, an additional adapter is required & sold separately.
