Metra 70-1858 receiver wiring harness

This vehicle-specific wiring harness makes connections between your new car stereo and your car's electrical system.

First, attach the color-coded wires on your Crutchfield-supplied harness to the wires from your new stereo. If you're not using a soldering iron, we recommend that you purchase some wire connectors to secure the connections. Check out our handy article on three ways to connect the wiring harness here.

Now, once this harness is connected to your new stereo, you'll be able to plug right into your car's factory radio connector. This harness saves installation time since you won't have to cut factory wires individually, and this also enables you to re-install the factory radio if needed. A detailed instruction sheet comes with the harness. Warranty: 60 days.

Please read this important note: This harness may not contain provisions for every wire needed to complete your installation, and it will not accommodate special navigation, video, or factory steering wheel control connections. You will need a special adapter if you want your factory steering wheel audio controls to work with your new stereo.

Connections:

  • 12V constant power
  • 12V switched power
  • chassis ground
  • power antenna turn-on
  • dimmer
  • left front speaker +/-
  • right front speaker +/-
  • left rear speaker +/-
  • right rear speaker +/-

Note: Most vehicles will require additional installation parts — please identify your vehicle if you haven’t done so, then check here for a list of parts. You can also call an Advisor for more information.

Features

Crutchfield Wiring Harness: Crutchfield wiring harnesses prevent you from having to cut your vehicle's factory radio plug when replacing your factory radio with an aftermarket head unit. Simply solder or crimp the Crutchfield wiring harness to your aftermarket head unit's harness (solder & crimps not included), plug the aftermarket head unit's plug into the rear chassis of the aftermarket head unit, and plug the Crutchfield wiring harness into your vehicle's factory radio plug.

Note: Installation tools, hardware, & accessories are not included & sold separately. Please see the Accessories tab for recommendations & availability.

Wiring Notes: If the Crutchfield wiring harness is not equipped with a ground wire, you will need to ground the aftermarket head unit's ground wire to the metal chassis of your vehicle. Some vehicle's may require you to bypass the vehicle's factory amplifier (in another location from factory radio) or hardwire certain connections. If your vehicle is equipped with factory steering wheel controls, an additional adapter is required & sold separately.

Wiring Harness

Written By Tony, Pennsylvania on Thursday, March 26, 2015

The harness fit good if you can watch the video on how to splice the wires I would recommend it.

Pros: fits like its supposed to. and easy to install

Cons: some wires were not needed and the instructions were vague.

EASY

Written By R Bertino., Tampa, FL on Wednesday, March 25, 2015

The easiest kit I've ever installed. The wire color matched the factory side so it was just 20 minutes of sodering and heat shrinking the connections. Btw you have to soder to the pioneer because there wires are so small.

Pros: Simple.

Cons: None.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Metra wiring harnesses have been a godsend to the aftermarket stereo market for many years. Gone are the days of hacking the factory harness with trial and error. Basically some crimping, then plug and play.

Pros: Ease of installation. Factory harness in tact.

Cons: Nothing.

EZ!

Written By MikeG, Bakersfield, CA on Thursday, February 12, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Easy to install unless you're color blind. Everything matches up quickly and fits the OEM harness exactly. Everything functions just as the OEM radio did, including the radio continuing to play after turning off the ignition until you open the door.

Pros: Easy to match up after market radio and harness wiring. Fits OEM connector exactly.

Cons: Hooking up wiring from new radio to harness would be difficult for someone who's color blind. I'm not, so it wasn't an issue.

metra installation kit for my brothers 99'Chevy Suburban, single din dvd receiver. It was a couple of modifications due to the radio because of depth, the radio faceplate wouldn't fit properly on the receiver, but the trim rings that was additional with the installation kit made it easy, now the faceplates fits properly like it should fit. Thanks Crutchfield.

I took this adapter and the one for my new head unit and soldered the matching wires together before dismantling the dash. The wires lined up perfectly with the head unit adapter. With the adapter I was able to take my dash apart, remove the old head unit, install the new head unit and put the dash back together in under 10 minutes.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

works good once you figure out what way it plugs in. this plug can easily be flipped and inserted either way, which i found out the hard way. not going to go into details about splicing into the factory wiring incorrectly witch i thought was right. make sure you check the latch connection first. also check the small note at the bottom of the instructions for an extra wire that must be connected for factory amp.

Pros: diagram and colors are correct

Cons: easily reversible
