Metra 70-6502 Receiver Wiring Harness

This vehicle-specific wiring harness makes connections between your new car stereo and your car's electrical system.

First, attach the color-coded wires on your Crutchfield-supplied harness to the wires from your new stereo. If you're not using a soldering iron, we recommend that you purchase some wire connectors to secure the connections. Check out our handy article on three ways to connect the wiring harness here.

Now, once this harness is connected to your new stereo, you'll be able to plug right into your car's factory radio connector. This harness saves installation time since you won't have to cut factory wires individually, and this also enables you to re-install the factory radio if needed. A detailed instruction sheet comes with the harness. Warranty: 60 days.

Please read this important note: This harness may not contain provisions for every wire needed to complete your installation, and it will not accommodate special navigation, video, or factory steering wheel control connections. You will need a special adapter if you want your factory steering wheel audio controls to work with your new stereo.

Connections:

  • 12V constant power
  • 12V switched power
  • chassis ground
  • power antenna turn-on
  • illumination
  • left front speaker +/-
  • right front speaker +/-
  • left rear speaker +/-
  • right rear speaker +/-

Note: Most vehicles will require additional installation parts — please identify your vehicle if you haven’t done so, then check here for a list of parts. You can also call an Advisor for more information.

Replaced factory unit

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Easy to use

Pros: Fit perfectly

Cons: Little instruction on wiring

Worked well

Written By Klaubs, California on Thursday, November 20, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Matched the colored wires and I was done. The only issue was the Pioneer stereo did not have a good wiring diagram that I could use to ensure I was connecting all of the wiring up to match properly (so more Pioneer's fault), so I just had to hope that the colors matched appropriately and luckily they did.

Pros: Easily connected, all the colors matched properly

Cons: Would have been nice to include some connectors

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This was a free item that was needed to wire the stereo to the original dodge plug. I'm glad that I bought my stereo from Crutchfield because anywhere else I purchased it I would have still had to buy the accessories that they give you free. You can not beat the deal you get from Crutchfield and the install was to easy.

Pros: Easy hook up to the stereo and it plug right in to the original dodge plug.

well made

Written By Anonymous, Fredericksburg, VA on Wednesday, September 03, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Tough perfectly adequate to the purpose intended, I found the wiring to be a tad too thin. They are using an 18 gauge wire when they should be using 16. Any high-end installer will end up mating this thin wire to a thicker wire which is less than optimal. Of course, the wiring coming out of most head units is 18 ga so I guess that makes sense. And one should run thicker wires from an amp, not the head. Still, this got the Jo done rather easily. The instructions were clear. The coloring in the wires is bold and easy to distinguish, unlike some companies that provided these harnesses with faded or muted coloring.

Pros: Good documentation, perfect fit, bold coloring, solid plastics used

Cons: coloring a tad thin gauge, but adequate

WOW!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Wow, a lot of wires were in the back of my factory radio! Much more than my other classic cars. So, with that said, I love Crutchfield because they instantly know what kind of wiring you need so there is no frustrating trip to the parts store. My harness (from the original factory radio ) was a very complex set of wires. 27 to be specific due to an add-on satellite system. Crutchfield supplied the correct adapter harness and installation was a snap. I managed an install in about 1/2 hour.

Pros: Perfect parts, easy to install.

Cons: None

This is a must when installing a new radio. Make your install so so much easier. Buy it and you'll be glad you did.

Pros: easy to use, wires color coded, wires labeled

Cons: None

Receiver wire harness

Written By Ram, Lincoln, California on Sunday, January 05, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I rated the harness with 5 stars due to the fact it was easy to connect, color coded wires to match my stereo unit. For someone who has never worked with wiring it was made very simple to figure out. Good job to Crutchfield for making the job easier.

Pros: Big plus for the do-it yourselfer. Easy to connect just wire nut or solder and heat shrink.

Cons: no wire nuts included may be a con to some people. But not an issue for myself.

Good but could have been better

Written By Dick, Bealeton, VA on Saturday, January 04, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This adapter cable is of good quality. However the instruction sheet included did not mention connecting the blue wire to the blue wire with the tracer on the radio. I had to call tech support to get sound. They also could have recommended moving an unused wire to the #14 pin location for the steering wheel control connection with the tan wire of the adapter.

Pros: Good quality

Cons: Could use more detailed instructions

Awesome!

Written By TeB, Hawaii on Tuesday, October 29, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This harness was really easy to install. The directions were clear and concise. The only issue I had was that there are a couple wires that didn?t match exactly. Ex: Orange with white stripe wire vs. Orange wire. However, when you look at the wires descriptions...you find that they are the same. So I?m still giving it 5 stars because it worked like a charm once I read the directions and got it installed. Took less than 10 minutes to wire the harnesses together.

Pros: Easy to install Clean installation Clear instructions

Cons: None

The ONLY harness to buy

Written By Don C, Keyser, WV on Friday, October 25, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My OEM unit fried so I bought a new head unit. 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan, (w/o Infinity system). Local shops sold me several different wiring harnesses claiming to be "exact" factory replacements. FALSE. I should have gone to CRUTCHFIELD right away cause ultimately, I WASTED money, time AND fuel. I bought their Dodge/Chrysler harness and the wiring instructions were TOP NOTCH! Easily seen and read, I wired my head units harness directly to Crutchfields and the unit WORKED the FIRST time! KUDOS! I'm 60 years old and have little patience left for almost everything, lol. GO TO CRUTCHFIELD for ALL your auto AND home electronic needs. Who sez you can't teach an old dog new tricks?

Pros: ACCURACY. CLARITY. PRICE. DELIVERY SPEED. QUALITY. CUSTOMER SUPPORT. The whole MAGILLAH!

Cons: NONE

2003 Dodge Ram with Infinity Sound.

Written By Brian H., Williamsport, PA on Wednesday, October 23, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very good harness. Was shopping for a head unit and found three different harnesses that are said to fit my vehicle. I emailed Crutchfield...and they responded quickly and showed me that this harness is what I need. You just have to make sure you hook the "power antenna" wire on this harness to the "amp power on" wire on the stereo harness. That way the built in Infinity Amp will turn on. All the other wires are color coded and match the units harness. Easy to install....and works great. Also a big thank you to the people at Crutchfield for the assistance!

Pros: Easy to install...well built...Makes it so you can reinstall the factory stereo.

Cons: None.

WOrked except once all connections made to NZ503 , audio would be cut off w/all sources except the Radio. Crutchfield tech explained that remote wire was misdirected to antenna on/off vs amp on/off. This is for NZ503 in 04 Jeep Liberty Limitesd so I had to cut and re-solder in dash which was annoying but worked fine after that.

Piece of cake

Written By Willy, Leesburg Fl on Saturday, August 31, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

If you take out a factory radio and replace it with an after market head unit your going to have to connect some wires. Your new head unit will have a plug with wires. This piece will allow you to connect to that plug sitting at the table and when you actually do the install in the car it will be quick and neat. The car wires will not be cut and the factory radio can go right back in if you ever wanted to.

Pros: convenient, easy and professional

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This harness was well constructed, perfectly priced, and easy to work with. I installed this in my 2005 Jeep TJ, connecting it with a Kenwood KDC-BT952HD (just for reference). Also just FYI...and I am not trying to sway anyone's opinion about connections...I soldered the connections with a 60/40 solder with a pencil iron. The solder technique was the Western Union splice (google if needed).

Pros: Build, qual, price, fit, length of wire to work with

Pros: No problems, just right. I used solder and heat shrink tubing.

Cons: None
