This vehicle-specific wiring harness makes connections between your new car stereo and your car's electrical system.
First, attach the color-coded wires on your Crutchfield-supplied harness to the wires from your new stereo. If you're not using a soldering iron, we recommend that you purchase some wire connectors to secure the connections. Check out our handy article on three ways to connect the wiring harness here.
Now, once this harness is connected to your new stereo, you'll be able to plug right into your car's factory radio connector. This harness makes installing your new stereo easier, and allows you to put the factory radio back when you sell your vehicle or return it at the end of the lease. A detailed instruction sheet comes with the harness. Warranty: 60 days.
Please read this important note: This harness may not contain provisions for every wire needed to complete your installation, and it will not accommodate special navigation, video, or factory steering wheel control connections. You will need a special adapter if you want your factory steering wheel audio controls to work with your new stereo.
Note: Most vehicles will require additional installation parts please identify your vehicle if you haven’t done so. You can also call an Advisor for more information.
Worked excellent! Color coded.
Pros: Color coded follow instructions and you will have no problems. Great Tech support from Crutchfield if you need it!
Great product. Did what it was made for.
Pros: Easy to install. Fit my vehicle perfectly. Easy to follow directions.
This wiring harness works well connecting a Pioneer 4100nex to my 2010 Murano. Very happy with how easy it was.
Pros: Works as described
Great product and easy to use!
This wiring harness was easy to use and made the installation a snap (even a caveman can do it)!
Pros: *Made installation a snap!
This adapter worked well, especially if you're replacing a head unit without steering wheel controls. All pins are not passed through this connector, so in my application I still had to tap into the car's wiring harness to connect 3 wires for the steering wheel controller adapter. And because this is designed for both Subaru and Nissan (possibly others as well) the wire harness adapter only slides over the car's wire harness. There wasn't a clip hole for the car's harness to lock into. So over time if there was enough vibration there is a possibility the harness could come loose, but is unlikely.
Pros: Fit the car
Cons: All pins were not passed through so steering wheel control adapter had to be wired into the car's harness. Universal design doesn't have a spot for the car's harness to clip into and lock in place.
Rember the blue wire is am
Worked great made wiring neat and clean
Pros: worked great
Excelente producto y todo funciona como debido!! Instalado en un subaru impreza sti 2012
Excellent product and everything functions as it should!! It was installed in a subaru impreza sti 2012
Cons:Crutchfield response on January 5, 2016 Translation provided by Crutchfield's International Sales & Support team.
Super-simple and all colors and stripes matched the harness from a Kenwood head unit. BE CAREFUL...on the 2012 I don't have a power antenna retractor, but a fixed stubby roof antenna. THIS ANTENNA USES A POWER SIGNAL AMP. I looked at the blue/white wires and assumed it was for a motorized antenna and taped it off un-used from both the new head unit and this adapter. The result was zero AM reception. After some internet troubleshooting the light bulb came on. After connecting blue/white from the head unit to blue /white on the adapter (imagine that), it was solved. The instructions could be better at addressing this easy point of confusion with a note about the antenna booster needing power even when you don't have a motorized antenna. Otherwise it's great.
Cons: Instructions could address blue/white and boosters even when no motorized antenna is present in Subaru.
Works. Good price. Clear directions. Not much else to say really. Nice that all the wires are stripped for convenience already.
Pros: Does everything it should
Does what its supposed to. Wires right up to newly installed unit (Jensen VX7020), and plugs into factory harness.
Hooked up easily, and works well.
It's as simple and functional as any typical wiring harness. It seems to mate to my subaru's audio system just fine. Unfortunately this one doesn't have the three additional pins/wires for the steering wheel controls. There are two signal wires and one ground wire that need to be connected to something like an Axxxes Interface ASWC-1 if you want those controls. This site as a good explanation of the pin out http://ae64.com/20-pin-pinout.htm
Metra does it again, producing another direct fit harness to connect your aftermarket HU to the stock harness.
Pros: Colors are consistent with aftermarket harness Partially prestripped leads
Good product. Easy to use for install.
This Does Not Fit A Nissan Frontier 2012. FYI
Cons: Doesn't Fit Nissan Frontier 2012.Crutchfield response on September 29, 2015 We forwarded this review to our Technical Support team for follow-up. Lifetime tech support comes with every Crutchfield purchase.
Matched up with everything on the receiver harness of my Pioneer deck. A couple of things. The black ground wire that says "only Subaru" is exactly that - don't use it otherwise. The black ground wire on the Pioneer harness was considerably longer and easily reached both of the two screws easily accessible behind the stereo for grounding. The manual does mention this, but is not included in the package, but it is on the Crutchfield site. Just go to your "Orders" page and there is a link. If you require an antenna adapter with the blue wire, connect both the blue/white wires from your head unit and the vehicle harness Along With The Blue From The Antenna Adapter to the same butt connector or whatever you're using. This is not really specified. I did it that way and then called support the next day to confirm that was correct, and they did.
Pros: Works, color coding is all correct, labeled for exceptions even.
It just worked.
Pros: It just worked.
Cons: Didn't come with the pin-outs for the steering wheel control module so I had to splice into the stock harness.
This worked great on my 2015 Nissan Frontier
Was able to attach my aftermarket Alpine to my 370Z with no issues. This harness also plays well with other aftermarket harnesses like the Pac-Audio steering wheel interface. Definitely makes the install easy so you can solder the connections at your work bench and then just clip the connector right into your car wiring.
Pros: Easy install. Works for most setups with great instructions.
What it claims to be. Color coded for easy matching to the radio harness. Worked without any issue.
Pros: works as advertised
Harness works with Pioneer Radio
Pros: Harness works with Pioneer Radio
Cons: Instructions are okay and connections easily made although the connection with the antenna adaptor's blue-stripe wire was not explained.
Guy suggested this website and it should be a good fit to my truck.
It does have all of the basics. If only it came with the backup camera wiring and the ability to use oem usb and aux locations, it will be great. But in all fairness not every vehicle has these functions and the company would lose money to put it on every basic harness. But we can all dream right.
Pros: Covers the basics
Cons: Only covers the basics
Easy to install. Straight forward, just match the wire colors, twist, solder, and shrink tube.
Pros: Easy to install.
This wiring harness does the trick. However, you'll notice it says for 2007 and up Nissan vehicles. Because it's such an old cable, there is limited functionality when it comes to certain features (such as steering wheel controls). I'd like to see a newer cable for the 2013 and up Nissan vehicles
Crutchfield sends you all the parts you'll need to do your own at-home install. This was my first time putting in an after market stereo on my own and it was pretty painless. I soldered my wires which I'd recommend. Just find a good online video and give yourself some time to make sure you do it right and you won't have any problems. You'll need your own soldering iron, flux, and solder which you can find at any craft or big-box store. Also get the heat shrink tubing to go around your solder joints. I used a blow dryer since I don't have a heat gun, it works. I'm a novice car person with no particular interest in car modification and just wanted Bluetooth and an AUX imput in my car. If I can do it, you can.
Pros: Fit just right in my Subaru, works great.
Cons: You'll need your own soldering iron, flux, and solder. Plus some heat shrink tubing. Match up all the wires and give yourself some time to make sure all the wires are connected.
This harness is no way compatible with the Infiniti M models. I put my vehicle in the configuration again and it still told me that it is all it needed. Only when I chose a later model did it tell me that it wasn't compatible and the tech support agent I talked to wasn't helpful. Just wanted you to be aware that this will be a full custom install. I'm lucky enough to know how to find electrical wires in cars to make it work.
Cons: This needs to be removed from the chart
It was easy to install for an inexperienced individual with a little bit of support from a Crutchfield technician, but required purchasing wires connectors.
Pros: Easy to install. Well marked.
Cons: I needed to purchase wire connectors (easy accessible and not expensive item)
Providing wiring harness adapters make it easy to obtain professional results for your next car stereo swap out. Simple instructions, and if you get confused, there is even a 1-800 number to call for help.
Pros: Free, easy instructions, perfect fit every time.
Couldn't have made install any easier if it had to. Love these harnesses for all cars.
Pros: Makes install and removal much easier than directly connecting new radio to car wiring
Cons: Takes some knowledge of electrical work to be able to properly connect to aftermarket radio which could be a problem for some
Pretty straight forward. Match new receiver wires to adapter for my '11 Nissan Pathfinder S.
Pros: wires matched wires (mostly) on new receiver
Cons: none I can think of.
Easy to read instructions. Used with instructions that came with the Crutchfield Master sheets...took less than 15 minutes to set up.
Pros: Ease of use
The Crutchfield directions were much much better than the manufacturer's.
Very easy to install, I normally use wiring connectors to secure the harness to the radio wiring!
Pros: Direct fit to vehicle wiring harness so you know it's done right!
Pros: Worked perfectly
This adapter fit perfectly. Soldering the connections and using heat shrinks made the job look professional.
Pros: Good fit, quality construction.
I would rate this unit as average. If you are just using it to install a new stereo to your vehicle, I would give it a 5. Directions are clear cut and there is really no way to screw it up. If you need to keep your steering wheel controls, then I would rate this a 1. There are no wires coming out of the plug that you can tap into for the ASWC-1 steering wheel control adapter. This means tapping into the vehicles harness :(. Surely, since this adapter is supposed to be vehicle specific, all the wiring should be available.
Pros: Straightforward install for car stereos only
Cons: No wires in the harness to attach necessary external equipment such as steering wheel control adapters.
Pros: Nothing bad about it
Never had a problem with Crutchfield's harnesses. They always work perfectly.
It works, but label in package should be removed. See "Cons."
Pros: It fits
Cons: I ordered this for a Nissan vehicle. When I opened the package - the cable had a Suzuki label on one of the cables. I assumed it was for a Suzuki vehicle only and thinking it was not going to be used, I cut the cable short. When I looked at the wiring diagram it was for the ground. Luckily I did not cut it too short. So I rated it a 3.
Worked perfect. Made electrical a breeze.
Pros: Ease of use
This wiring harness worked beautifully along with the excellent installation instructions and other components of the Crutchfield install kit. So worth the money! I am a writer by trade so am very picky when it comes to instructions. Crutchfield does a stellar job of combining useful pictures and illustrations with clear descriptions of the steps to take. Well done.
I used this harness to connect my new Pioneer deck to my 2011 Subaru Legacy. The color codes were on the back of the bag and were a perfect match for the wires from my new deck. No problems whatsoever. A must when purchasing a new stereo.
Pros: Color codes on back of bag
Made the install super easy. I bought the crimp connectors at a local store, and sat down to watch TV while I crimped the harness to the new radio harness. Made my job easy at the comfort of my home. Did not have to try to figure out what was what. I have installed radios my whole life and this made it.
Pros: Helps with the install. Makes the install super fast.
It's so easy to install, my 7 yo can do it
Sent with Panasonic FH-X720BT for my 2008 Nissan Frontier. Had it installed in under 30min. I surprised myself!!
Pros: Easiest install.
Easy to install
Pros: great quality
Made installation a breeze
Pros: Matched perfectly
Of course you can splice, solder, twist, and check your own wires, but why? Do yourself a favour and buy a stereo for $120 from Crutchfield and get this harness for free. Take your new stereo harness off, match the wires with the attached diagram, and then once you're ready to install it'll be so much easier. Save the time, get one of these.
Pros: Everything that is good about a harness
I works well with my Nissan Frontier but no ground in the harness for the nissan
Pros: Matches up great
Cons: No Ground connection for nissan
Never install a radio without one!
Take a few minutes to make sure you understand which line is which. Make sure you have a NON-colorblind friend nearby!
My preference: Solder and heat shrink tubing, rather than crimps or twist-nuts.
This wiring harness was nearly perfect for my 2015 Subaru WRX and Pioneer AVH-4000NEX. The one thing missing is that it doesn't have any of the wires required for the steering wheel controls. If you study the Axxess ASCW-1 wiring diagrams, it is possible to get them to work though. In my case, I bought a second wiring harness to harvest the wires that I needed.
Crutchfield supplied this connector for interconnecting my Nissan Versa's OEM radio connector to the Pioneer SPH-DA120 AppRadio 4's pigtail connector. It provides the correct color coordinated wiring for easy hookup to the Pioneer's pigtail. Made installation easy and professional.
Pros: Easy and properly marked/colored wires. Makes for easy installation.
Cons: Not any.
Straight forward adapter for install of head unit
Pros: well made
Cons: has unneeded wire labeled "Subaru only" which is a little confusing
Perfect fit connected directly to my factory wire harness. 09 altima sedan
Cons: No cutting needed.
Perfect fit. 2014 Nissan Sentra
Works exactly as advertised
Pros: Well labeled, copper wire, easy to work with
Good, basic item. As long as you pay attention this should be a breeze to wire up.
Pros: Comes pre-stripped.
Pros: Makes installation easy.
Well built with all the connections most people want.
Pros: All the wires to hook up my unit were included and the documentation explained them well.
Cons: The wires needed to hook up the SWC interface were not included and I had to cut into the wiring harness to get to them, I guess this stops people from calling what do I do with these wires.
Worked great with 2011 Altima Coupe. Loved that I didn't have to strip the wires.
Pros: Wires are pre-striped
I always install my own head units, and Metra harness's are the reason why. This makes everything easy!
Pros: Simple to use and understand
The Harness is extremely easy to install with the instructions provided and works perfectly. There were extra wires for use with accessories I'm not using so you just have to ignore them. No problem.
Pros: Easy to use.
Pros: a perfect fit
To everyone complaining about this harness NOT having the three SWC wires, and giving it bad reviews based on the fact: STOP BEING LAZY!!! I installed this on my 2014 Subaru WRX. NO ISSUES AT ALL! Do I have my steering wheel controls anymore? No. But it does not kill me to reach over with my right hand and change the volume or track or to answer a call., or use the remote that comes with it. Metra does NOT specify that it has the SWC control wires contained within the harness; why would you just assume it does? If it's that big of a deal to ya, grab some pins and add them yourself. Stop being lazy people. This is a good harness and a good product. Stop your crying. Everything on the harness works excellent.
Right part for my stereo and was easy as Pie to install
Pros: Right part and easy install
I've been using Metra wiring harnesses for many years, and I wouldn't even attempt to install a car stereo without them. I spend a little extra time soldering the Metra harness to the stereo's plug harness, and I have always ended up with nice, clean installations.
Pros: Color-coded wires are fairly universal and consistent. Instructions are very clear and easy to follow. Really simplifies car stereo installation.
Cons: This particular harness (Metra 70-7552) works with Infinity, Nissan, Subaru, and Suzuki. I am guessing that each of the manufactures has a different style of antenna plug, which might explain why an additional antenna harness is necessary. However, it would be nice to have the antenna harness integrated with the main harness.
Fits perfectly works great and fast shipping
Pros: Fast shipping
Ahhh - its a harness. What more could go wrong
Pros: 1. Works
Cons: 1. Would be nice to already have the wires already installed for the Axxess steering wheel controls so you do not have to hack into your harness. I added this wiring myself.
Harness worked properly
Used this adapter many times in the past. Only reason for 4 stars is the lack of the EXTRA wires needed in newer vehicles for options like SWC,
Pros: Easy to use and connect
Cons: not fully populated connector. Need to add additional pins/wires depending on vehicle, use and replacement unit.
Makes upgrading your car stereo a breeze
Pros: Easy to install
There products are great easy to understand and install would definitely buy again
Works great minus no antenna adapter or ground connection.
Cons: No ground connection, need additional antenna connector, and some wires needed to be re configured to turn on my CD PlayerCrutchfield response on June 13, 2014 Customer's only order with us, #40658535, placed May 25th. Customer placed order over the internet. He did not specify what he was connecting to (HU), so he wasn't told automatically on his order what he would need. Further, on our website it says, "Note: Most vehicles will require additional installation parts - please identify your vehicle if you haven't done so, then check here for a list of parts. You can also call an Advisor for more information." The information was out there. Somehow he missed it or misunderstood. What do we do about this review? Can't think of what I'd do except maybe have sales call him and ask him if he still needs the ground connection and antenna connector and explain why he didn't get them.
Works perfect for '13 wrx
Pros: Easy, no cutting of factory harness
I received this harness free with my Kenwood Head Unit. I previously purchased a Metra ASWC-1 Universal Steering Wheel Control Interface. Unless I cut into my Subaru WRX 2009's oem cable to connect the Interface, this harness did not aid in the installation. This harness is missing the 3 wires for Audio Steering Wheel Controls.
Pros: Works great if you are not going to use the oem steering wheel audio buttons.
Cons: Works great if you are not going to use the oem steering wheel audio buttons.
Quick and easy to connect everything. Good instructions and a solid fit.
Pros: Quick, easy and free!
Worked great. It works as well as your wire identification skills.
this wire plug mad it a snap to wire and install all 15 min soldered to the radio loom and bam done
Pros: super easy well labeled
Color match wires worked perfectly. Hard to mess up
Pros: Color coded
Everything was color coded exactly on the radio harness...match up - twist - solder - wire nut. The onlt thing I would suggest is to add the following statement...NOTE: The OEM radio has two additional plug in harness that you will not be using...(especially if you do not have steering wheel controls)
Pros: Fits and color coded
Cons: NOTE: The OEM radio has two additional plug in harness that you will not be using...should be mentioned in the instructions
A real time saver!!!!!!!
Easy to install wires were color coordinated.
Cons: No negatives
Works as intended. This harness worked flawlessly and connected directly to my Nissan Frontier easily.
Not much to say here. Worked great and did exactly what it was supposed to. Just match the colored wires and you are all set to go. I was also very happy with the large amount of wire length that it came with.
Worked like a charm.
Everything we have gotten from crutchfield has been just perfect! We ordered a wrong part to install my new radio but one email and they sent us what we needed fast! I've been telling everyone to use them!
Perfect fit, work just like it was suppose to.
Pros: Came with clear directions
I used this to install a radio in my 2014 Wrx STI. This works flawlessly for replacing the factory radio.
Pros: Works Great.
Harness matched my 2011 Impreza perfectly making installation of new unit simple and fast
Pros: Fit perfectdly
Easy setup and install.
Pros: Quick and easy installation
Cons: Some confusion on what to do with the black ground wire. One call to Crutchfield confirmed it should be attached to metal somewhere on the car and not the black wire on the receiver.
Came with my process, arrived in great time, but did not fit my vehicle as they said it would, other then that no complaints!
Cons:Crutchfield response on December 30, 2013 We forwarded this review to our Technical Support team for follow-up. Lifetime tech support comes with every Crutchfield purchase.
Easy setup with the installation kit showing you which wires connect to the other ones.
Pros: Already spliced and ready to be soldered for a good clean connections, Instructions helped out a lot if first radio to install.
This harness was missing pins needed to install steering wheel controls without cutting wires. Very cheap. In addition, the service from Crutchfield when I called to ask what to do was poor as well, telling me my only option was to cut and splice.
A local store sells these harnesses (I needed this in a hurry) so I went there, cut open another harness, and took the pins I needed and put it in my harness.
Considering I paid a premium for my receiver on Crutchfield, and I received poor accessories and service...I do not recommend purchasing from Crutchfield for the customer service, like I did.
It works well, however, it was extremely tight fit for my unit... got the Kenwood DDX790 for my wife's 2012 Nissan Xterra. If this is your set up, you will have to remove the dash and work with it to get the unit to fit. One thing on the documentation, it is a little unclear what to do with the double-din mounting brackets... basically, you snap them into the sides of the opening for your unit. The fit of your head unit, holds the brackets in place, and then you attach to the unit with screws.
Pros: perfect fit for my 2012 Nissan Xterra
Cons: Documentation is a little unclear, tight fit with DDX790
This harness is great for most of the wired connections that you need for an aftermarket head unit. Unfortunately, Metra continues to sell this harness with wires missing that are needing for connecting steering wheel control buttons. Why go to the trouble of making an incomplete wiring harness? In order to connect the the steering wheel controls, you STILL have to cut factory harness wires and hard wire them to the steering wheel interface module.
Pros: -Easy color coding that matches up to OEM harness wiring. -Allows you to connect an aftermarket head unit without cutting any factory wires (with caveats pertaining to steering wheel controls)
Cons: -Missing wires/pins for steering wheel controls
Pros: Easy too read instructions
Cons: Sucks if your red green colorblind
The installation of this wiring harness looked a little bit daunting at the onset. The instructions provided were explicit and every aspect of the GPS/Receiver functioned upon final connection.
Pros: All parts on hand; connections were without complications; instructions were clear and uncomplicated. Most anyone should be able to complete this task.
The wires were high quality, and it worked perfectly with my 2012 Nissan Titan.
This wiring harness made installing my new Kenwood DPX300U easy. It was color coded and pre-stripped for connecting to my existing wiring.
Pros: Pre-labeled and pre-stripped and color coded. The installation diagrams were excellent.
I attached this plug to the head unit plug while I was sitting in my living room. Very easy and straight forward installation. Worked flawlessly. Highly recommended.
Pros: Easy to use, worked flawlessly
This harness is a good replacement if you don't use steering wheel controls and intend on using the Axxess ASWC-1 adapter. It doesn't have some of the pins (wires), that the ASWC-1 requires, which means you have to splice-into the wiring harness in your car.
I was fortunate to find a gentleman in GA who sells adapters with the missing pins, so I ended-up not using this one.
Pros: Good if not using steering wheel controls.
Cons: Missing pins needed for steering wheel control adapter.
Makes swapping out your radio a breeze. Forget about cutting, splicing and trying to match wires.
Pros: Simple & Easy
Probably would have been great if it was the correct product. Crutchfield Customer support was great. I got the correct part number and went to local vendor for a replacement, sent a copy of my receipt and received credit for all but about a dollar of the replacement part almost immediately. It was worth not having to wait several days with vehicle torn apart.
Fit like a glove. And delivery was free and super fast
Pros: Fits perfect
Easy to follow instructions.
This was free, so I can't really complain, but if you are looking for steering wheel controls you will need to get another harness or add wires to this one. This works great if you don't want SWC.
Pros: It works.
Cons: Missing wires for steering wheel controls.
Worked just fine on 2014 Forester. Use solder and use heat shrink tubing as I don't trust those twist on connectors.
Pros: It works
Simple to install, color code matched the receiver colors. A little solder, heat shrink tubing and done!
Pros: Could it be any easier?
Correct plug to the vehicle harness to a 2009 Suzuki Equator. Colors were a match. Easy to set up.
Pros: Correct match and color coding dead on.
It's always nice when every color matches exactly to the stereo wires. These products are simple by nature but this one was well labeled and the prestripped wires made for an easy install.
Pros: dependable and ready to install
Made my Install super easy. Color to color, double check against stereo diagram....done.
Worked perfect, all of the wires matched and made the install easy.
Works well. Easy install.
Pros: Super easy install.
I've never attempted to install a radio in my car before. This is a nice product for a beginner like me, the wires are pre cut (cut, and pulled a bit) which made the actual wiring of the harness to the receiver very fast as I only had to stip one set of wires. The harness fit very well into the plug, and does not feel like it will ever come loose (even on Mass roads). Great product from a company that stands behind their name.
Pros: Good quality pre-cut/stripped solid fit
Cons: none really
Excellent fit, this is exactly what I needed. No problems when splicing wires.
Pros: Exact part I needed.
This harness worked great in my 2013 Subaru wrx
Pros: Simple to install.
Works perfectly and made the after market install VERY easy. After having done several of these installs, I wish they also included the pins for the steering wheal controls as that would make the install even smoother, provide a better connection option, and help minimize the amount of wire work that has to be done while in the car (can be done ahead of time outside of the car).
Pros: Moves much of the wire work outside of the car at a desk where it's more comfortable to work. Makes the install much easier. Easy to convert back to factory/no permanent alterations.
Cons: Doesn't cover steering wheal controls too.
It confuses me why they wouldn't just include all pins for this harness. I know some people wouldn't need them all but they could just tape those wires off. Instead they only include the basic pins and make it a pain in the "you know what" for the people that need those extra wires.
Pros: Made hooking up the speakers and power simple
Cons: Does not contain the pins for the steering wheel controls. I had to splice into the factory harness to hook up the steering wheel controls :'(
Works, all wires work, etc.
Pros: Everything was there.
Made the install effortless. Just match the colors, hook up the ground and use common sense. Also, you can always call tech support, they rock and are the best around.
Pros: Works perfectly.
Plugged right into the factory harness.
Pros: Did not have to cut any of the factory wiring harness. Good gauge wire.
Super easy. Second installation I've used from crutchfield.
Cons: The only confusion I had was to combine the two wiring diagrams from two instructions. But I don't know how else they would do it.
The wire colors even matched the ones on my Alpine head unit's harness. Plugged in fine to the Nissan vehicle-side connector (had to push the locking tab down to get the two to go together, but it popped back up into place like it's supposed to). So nice to have removable harnesses that you can take inside and solder on a bench (assuming your head unit has a removable harness, which mine does).
Pros: wire colors, perfect fit
A must have to simplify DIY installations. You can do all the prep work inside while watching TV or something like that. Good instructions provided to make connections to the deck connector wires a snap
The wiring harness fits like it should, but if they would have included two more wires in the harness, I could have tapped my steering wheel controller into the wiring harness extensions, instead of splicing into the main harness. Two simple wires would have made this product awesome, but instead the ports in the plug were left empty.
The harness was easy to match up. I did get a little confused with the instructions, but once I talked to a Tech it was easier than I expected
Cons: The harness instructions a little confusing. The instructions state the colors of the wire might not match but after speaking to a Tech the wires matched up by color.
I missed this in the detailed info, even though they mention needing a 3rd party module to maintain steering wheel controls, this harness adaptor doesn't include the wires in the plug, so you'll still need to tap into the factory harness.
If you're buying this for a Subaru, there is a better harness that includes the Steering Wheel Control wires, which I've now bought to avoid cutting the factory harness. As cheap as wire is, this harness should have wires in each plug even if it add a $1 or 2 to the price.
easy to use. I did also buy the ASWC controller for the steering wheel remote & found it hard to install, had to is web to get correct wiring instructions (ones provided were wrong), still din't work;called support & they said to hook up yellow wire from OEM harness to ground(not on instructions provided or web)
Pros: easy to use & follow provided instructions
thank you for my 12$ part for free
When my receiver first came I jumped right in and started with the installation. I am really into installing my own stuff and pretty good at it. I couldn't understand why I was having problems. I could hear the radio, but the volume was very low. I called a tech at Crutchfield, and discovered I had received the wrong harness. He sent me the right one at no charge. Once it came I wired it up in 10 mins. I installed the stereo in 15 mins, and it worked like a charm. The harness was so easy because the color coding is so good. Everything matches up so easily. Crutchfield has been my source for car audio since the mid 80's.
Pros: Super easy installation
Worked fantastic. Made installation a breeze!
Pros: Perfect fit
Maybe for the basic installation it would be okay. It was the correct connector. My problem was the support for steering wheel controls. This harness is missing the necessary wires to accommodate the SWC controller I needed to use. I was instructed to tap into the wires on the back of the car connector. This kind of defeats the point of a wire harness. After a fairly simple search of the internet I was able to find a source for the needed harness. Unfortunately I had to pay for it and shipping.
Pros: Correct connector
Cons: does not support steering wheel controls.
This DOES work on a 2013 Subaru Forester W/O NAV!! This harness requires a lot of force to get it engaged into the factor harness but it did all go together and worked fine. The pin outs are correct for the factor harness!! Overall I was very happy.
Pros: All the pin outs were correct on the 2013 Subaru Forester W/O nav!!
Cons: It would be really nice if they left the pins in for the Steer wheel controls. Its a pain having to splice into the factory harness.
Does exactly what it is supposed to!
This became more headache then I wanted, turned out there was 3 Pins that was not part of this connector that was needed for the Steering Wheel Control. If this connector had all its pin wired up, I would of gave this a 5 star rating, but since it was missing PINs I needed to hook up the SWC to my Kenwood deck on my 2011 STi, I ended splicing in the factory wire-harness, I needed Pin 4, 13 and 14 which was not there on this kit.
Pros: Crutchfield gave it to me for free for my deck I bought from them.
Cons: Not all pins are wired in this connector.
This thing has pre-stripped wires. Awesome! :P
It is made well and it works!
Pros: Pre-stripped wires Works!
Pros: Colors matched the radio manufacturer.
Cons: didn't come with crimps or wire nuts
No problem with install with this kit in my 09 Frontier. Definitely do wiring before doing install. I used the posi connectors and saved a good bit of time and they worked perfectly well. Colors were easy to match and instructions were fairly good.
Pros: Worked exactly as advertised
Fit right, solid wires and connector, colors were easily identifiable.
Pros: It was a perfect fit for my 2011 frontier factory harness
This fit our 2008 Nissan Xterra and matched our new basic receiver just fine. I would suggest wiring this up to the receiver cables before starting the install, as it's quite a separate event from the install itself. I connected mine by weaving the wires, dropping some solder on, and then wrapping in electric tape. No problems so far, even after a long off-roading trip (lots of shaking and vibrations).
I wired this up to the Kenwood head-unit the night before and it made installing the Kenwood head-unit a breeze. The wires I didn't use out of the radio were options not present in my Altima, so all major connections were as presented in the wiring diagram supplied with the radio. I used Posi-connectors and that made the hook-up simple and secure; I usually like to solder connections but they're difficult to un-do, whereas you can screw and unscrew the posi-connectors as often as needed.
Pros: Exact fit to factory connector, wire colors matched the radio's harness.
This worked, but it didn't have the wires to hook up the steering wheel control (so I still ended up having to cut into the harness for that wire). Fix that (add the steering wheel control wires) and it's perfect.
Pros: Fits and has most of the wires you need.
Cons: Does not have the wires to hook up your steering wheel controls.
Works perfectly. It would be a 5 star product if crimp connectors were included. After reading the instructions I was surprised to see they weren't included.
After receiving the wrong adaptor kit for my 2012 Subaru Outback, Crutchfield sent this one. It works great, and I am now in business.
Pros: It works!
Was perfect, did not use the steering controls or base line , so cant comment on those.
Pros: Awesome! Fit the connector and did not have to cut any wires.
Makes for a nice and easy wiring interface on after market radios. Wires are color coded to match those normally found on the radio connector.
Pros: Comes with common wires already installed in the correct locations to interface an after market Radio with the Nissan factory harness.
Cons: This adapter does not include the wires needed to hook up an AXXESS ASWC or other steering wheel controls interface.
doesn't fit. there's two harnesses on the back of the factory cd player and you only get one. the fitting isn't right, it seems to be the wrong shape to fit properly.
Cons: no music in the carCrutchfield response on May 2, 2012 We forwarded this review to our Technical Support team for follow-up. Lifetime tech support comes with every Crutchfield purchase.
did the install myself and everything was easy enough. just take your time, read the instructions and line up the colors/descriptions to connect to a 2008 nissan frontier
Pros: Fantastic, made the install super fast
Great product and critical to a successful install. The black wire that says "chassis Ground" (for Subaru only) was taped off and not used. We had no extra amp so the blue/white - amp turn on wire was taped off. All other wires on this harness matched easily to the Pioneer AVH2400BT harness. A back up camera hot red switched wire was piggy backed to the red on this harness along with the red from the radio harness. The yellow wire from the XM tuner harness along with the constant power yellow from the Pioneer were both attached to the yellow of this Nissan receiver wire harness.
Pros: Simple solder, plug, and play. Thank you to Crutchfield for including the correct harnesses to match our vehicle.
I read some reviews saying that this connector is missing wires. IT DOES have all the wires needed to connect it to my Subaru and is not missing any wires.
Pros: fits great
Great wiring harness. People that say it needs to updates need to understand that each vehicle has the steering wheel wires in different places. So great harness as I have used it on a lot of different cars, I usually have a spare and just cut the pins out and install into the corresponding holes for the steering wheel controls.
Pros: Great piece
Harness matched perfectly with the wires from the new radio. Super easy install.
Pros: Everything worked like a charm.
Perfect match to the CX501! Very easy to connect! All the colors matched! plugged right in to factory harness!
Pros: PERFECT MATCH UP!
Fit perfect no hassles,I like the fact that you can order everything you need in one place and not have to go to several places in order to find the parts you need to complete an installation.
Fit perfectly into the factory harness, clearly marked. Makes for a neat install
Pros: Quality, Fit
Cons: None. If you are using this in a Nissan Xterra, make sure you don't use the ground wire on the harness ! Head Unit needs to be grounded to the dash frame.
Needs to have wires for the sterring wheel controls so you don't have to tap the vehicles harness.
Pros: It was free
Cons: Needs more wires so you don't have to tap the vehicle harness.
2012 Forester: The blue wire is labeled for a powered amp. But, it also needs to be hooked up for the powered antenna to work.
Pros: It worked
Cons: Instructions aren't great
Did not work/fit on a 2011 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab (w/ standard speakers) - a big inconvenience after going thru the trouble of preparing the wiring, removing stock radio and unplugging everything to get ready to install my JVC KW-XR810. Eagerly started to work on the installation on a Saturday only to be greatly disappointed. Crutchfield could'nt send me a replacement until Tuesday (but they were very apologetic and comp'd me on the replacement). BTW, I placed this order via phone - sales rep and what's on the website say it fits the vehicle. Not so.
Cons: Wrong harness.
This cable does not have the wires built in for steering wheel controls. All Legacy models have the controls, so why doesn't the harness have the wiring??!!! Using this with steering wheel control requires jumping over the harness. What a hassel!
I opted to solder and tape the connections and that made a solid installation real easy to do. All of the wires were color coded so a one at a time approach made it foolproof.
The harness fit a 2010 Subaru Impreza very well -- all connections were solid, and it connected very nicely to the factory harness. The only issue I have with this harness is that it does not include pins 4 and 14, used to connect the steering wheel interface with the head-unit. I ran out to the local big box store to pick up a spare harness, scavenged two wires, and installed them in the correct positions. Worked like a charm, but would have been better to have them installed out of the package.
This is my third installation over the years and it doesn't make any sense that you would not include Crimp Connectors. I think most people would use them over solder. You try and make everything else easy for the installer and then you make them go to the store and find and buy Crimp Connectors before they can install the radio. I think most of your customers are end users and not professional installers.
