Metra 70-7903 wiring harness

This vehicle-specific wiring harness makes connections between your new car stereo and your car's electrical system.

First, attach the color-coded wires on your Crutchfield-supplied harness to the wires from your new stereo. If you're not using a soldering iron, we recommend that you purchase some wire connectors to secure the connections. Check out our handy article on three ways to connect the wiring harness here.

Now, once this harness is connected to your new stereo, you'll be able to plug right into your car's factory radio connector. This harness saves installation time since you won't have to cut factory wires individually, and it also enables you to re-install the factory radio if needed. A detailed instruction sheet comes with the harness. Warranty: 60 days.

Please read this important note: This harness may not contain provisions for every wire needed to complete your installation, and it will not accommodate special navigation, video, or factory steering wheel control connections. You will need a special adapter if you want your factory steering wheel audio controls to work with your new stereo.

Connections:

  • 12V constant power
  • 12V switched power
  • chassis ground
  • power antenna turn-on
  • illumination
  • left front speaker +/-
  • right front speaker +/-
  • left rear speaker +/-
  • right rear speaker +/-

Metra Wiring Harness: Metra wiring harnesses prevent you from having to cut your vehicle's factory radio plug when replacing your factory radio with an aftermarket head unit. Simply solder or crimp the Metra wiring harness to your aftermarket head unit's harness (solder & crimps not included), plug the aftermarket head unit's plug into the rear chassis of the aftermarket head unit, and plug the Metra wiring harness into your vehicle's factory radio plug.

Note: Installation tools, hardware, & accessories are not included & sold separately. Please see the Accessories tab for recommendations & availability.

Wiring Notes: If the Metra wiring harness is not equipped with a ground wire, you will need to ground the aftermarket head unit's ground wire to the metal chassis of your vehicle. Some vehicle's may require you to bypass the vehicle's factory amplifier (in another location from factory radio) or hardwire certain connections. If your vehicle is equipped with factory steering wheel controls, an additional adapter is required & sold separately.

Q
can you just buy the ready harness or you have to get the do it yourself harness?
anthony  Jan 16, 2024
1 answer
A
ReadyHarness is a service we provide for radio and install packages where we pre-wire any available connections before shipping your radio package to you, Anthony. Since this is a service, we cannot provide ReadyHarness without the purchase of a complete radio and installation package.

Q
Will the Metra 70-7903 Wiring Harness fit a 2005 Mazdaspeed Miata with the Bose factory sound system?
erich  Jul 11, 2020
1 answer
A
It worked perfect for our 2004 (I also paid a few bucks more for Crutchfield to make the connections - whatever that is called) -BUT- our car isn't a turbo and we didn't have the Bose so not sure. I would THINK that the factory wiring is standard but your question may be better answered on a Miata forum. I couldn't say with certainty. Good luck!

Q
What pin size do I need to add wires to this? I would like to attach my steering wheel control adapter to this instead of hacking up my factory harness.
alexander  Nov 01, 2019
1 answer
A
Hi Alex, thank you for your question. We do carry steering wheel control adapters and interfaces for most vehicles. These adapters will usually keep you from needing to cut or splice into any stock wiring. Please chat with an Advisor online or by phone at 1-800-324-9695. They will be happy to take a look at your vehicle's information, and get you setup with the proper gear for your installation.

Q
William this World ón a mazda tribute 2002 whith oem subwoofer?
ricardo  Jul 16, 2019
1 answer
A
It works on the those 2002 Tributes that came with the subwoofer and came with the radio that has the MD-TAPE button. If the stock radio does not have the MD-TAPE button, then a different harness is needed which is the 70-7901 harness found here: www.crutchfield.com/p_120707901/item.html My Bio: https://www.crutchfield.com/bio/Paul

ben  Sep 14, 2015
1 answer
A
For details on fit or installation please contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and give you the details on if this will fit and what you will need for an installation in your vehicle.
