Metra 70-9003 Receiver Wiring Harness

Metra 70-9003 Receiver Wiring Harness

This vehicle-specific wiring harness makes connections between your new car stereo and your car's electrical system. It includes a wire bundle with a connector and a separate red wire for the accessory (12-volt switched) connection. This individual 42" red wire must be run from the receiver to the vehicle's fuse panel to provide 12-volt switched power.

First, attach the color-coded wires on your Crutchfield-supplied harness to the wires from your new stereo. If you're not using a soldering iron, we recommend that you purchase some wire connectors to secure the connections. Check out our handy article on three ways to connect the wiring harness here.

Now, once this harness is connected to your new stereo, you'll be able to plug right into your car's factory radio connector. This harness makes installing your new stereo easier, and allows you to put the factory radio back when you sell your vehicle or return it at the end of the lease. A detailed instruction sheet comes with the harness. Warranty: 60 days.

Please read this important note: This harness may not contain provisions for every wire needed to complete your installation, and it will not accommodate special navigation, video, or factory steering wheel control connections. You will need a special adapter if you want your factory steering wheel audio controls to work with your new stereo.

Connections:

  • 12V constant power
  • 12V switched power
  • chassis ground
  • power antenna turn-on
  • left front speaker +/-
  • right front speaker +/-

Features

Crutchfield Wiring Harness: Crutchfield wiring harnesses prevent you from having to cut your vehicle's factory radio plug when replacing your factory radio with an aftermarket head unit. Simply solder or crimp the Crutchfield wiring harness to your aftermarket head unit's harness (solder & crimps not included), plug the aftermarket head unit's plug into the rear chassis of the aftermarket head unit, and plug the Crutchfield wiring harness into your vehicle's factory radio plug.

Note: Installation tools, hardware, & accessories are not included & sold separately. Please see the Accessories tab for recommendations & availability.

Wiring Notes: If the Crutchfield wiring harness is not equipped with a ground wire, you will need to ground the aftermarket head unit's ground wire to the metal chassis of your vehicle. Some vehicle's may require you to bypass the vehicle's factory amplifier (in another location from factory radio) or hardwire certain connections. If your vehicle is equipped with factory steering wheel controls, an additional adapter is required and sold separately.

Q
If the answer to Keith's question is "Unfortunately, we do not have a harness that can convert the analog out of your new stereo to digital to get into your factory amplifier", why was I (2005 CLK55 HK optical amp) recommended the Connects2 CT51-MC07 Amplifier Interface.. is this a new product since 7/23?

A
That is exactly correct, Jason. Options to keep the factory amp in premium Mercedes with the HK package are rare and we did introduce the Connects2 CT51-MC07 option as of 11/23 last year. We worked hard to find an adapter that can work for these vehicles, and if it is paired in your install package you can keep the factory amp and subwoofer when changing your radio. I pulled the specs on your CLK55, and this option is compatible!

Q
My 2005 Mercedes CLK 320 W 209 has Fiber Optics and I need a plug that will plug in to my car's plug. Do you have an adapter that will work?

Greetings Keith, and thank you for your question. If you have the fiber output on your radio, it is the Harman Kardon factory system. Unfortunately, we do not have a harness that can convert the analog out of your new stereo to digital to get into your factory amplifier. All we can do is a complete bypass of the Harman Kardon amp, and all hard wired. Perhaps someone does make one, I just would not know where to look.

Q
Trying to connect this to an AXXESS ASWC-1 steering wheel control for my 2005 BMW z4. It says to connect Pink Wire of the ASWC-1 to pin 9. There is no connector in pin 9 position of the metra 70-9003. What am I doing wrong?
