This vehicle-specific wiring harness makes connections between your new car stereo and your car's electrical system.

First, attach the color-coded wires on your Cructhfield harness to the wires from your new stereo. If you don't know how to use a soldering iron, we recommend that you purchase some wire connectors that you'll use to attach the Crutchfield harness to your factory harness.

Now, once this harness is connected to your new stereo, you'll be able to plug right into your car's factory radio connector. This harness makes installing your new stereo easier, and allows you to put the factory radio back when you sell your vehicle or return it at the end of the lease. A detailed instruction sheet comes with the harness. Warranty: 60 days.

Please read this important note: This harness may not contain provisions for every wire needed to complete your installation, and it will not accommodate special navigation, video, or factory steering wheel control connections. You will need a special adapter if you want your factory steering wheel audio controls to work with your new stereo.

Connections:

  • 12V constant power
  • 12V switched power
  • chassis ground
  • power antenna turn-on
  • left front speaker +/-
  • right front speaker +/-
  • left rear speaker +/-
  • right rear speaker +/-

Features

Crutchfield Wiring Harness: Crutchfield wiring harnesses prevent you from having to cut your vehicle's factory radio plug when replacing your factory radio with an aftermarket head unit. Simply solder or crimp the Crutchfield wiring harness to your aftermarket head unit's harness (solder & crimps not included), plug the aftermarket head unit's plug into the rear chassis of the aftermarket head unit, and plug the Crutchfield wiring harness into your vehicle's factory radio plug.

Note: Installation tools, hardware, & accessories are not included & sold separately. Please see the Accessories tab for recommendations & availability.

Wiring Notes: If the Crutchfield wiring harness is not equipped with a ground wire, you will need to ground the aftermarket head unit's ground wire to the metal chassis of your vehicle. Some vehicle's may require you to bypass the vehicle's factory amplifier (in another location from factory radio) or hardwire certain connections. If your vehicle is equipped with factory steering wheel controls, an additional adapter is required and sold separately.

Worked great

Written By swil, gilbert, az on Sunday, January 22, 2012

Harness and instructions worked great. Colors matched up perfectly.
Pros:
Worked great, color match on wires, good instructions
Cons:
Could provide small clips for insertion of other wires needed, example: steering wheel control adapter. If I had 2 small clips to put on the adapter wires I could have simply plugged them into the new plug and they would have connected to existing car wiring. As it was I had to tap into 2 more wires outside the harness for the optional steering wheel control wires.

Receiver Wire Harness

The part where you have to tap into the fuse box for the power wire is annoying, but it if has to be done, it has to be done.

I like how this adapter has a place to hold the second connector which only plugs into the stock stereo so that it doesn't dangle around.

Receiver Wire Harness

This is the harness to get, fits 2003 GTI perfectly, even though the website says it does not fit, this is the second one of these I've used, (third stereo to get stolen from this car) , it comes with power lead to run to fuse box and you save money since you don't need the PAC interface.

Good Kit , It works

Written By AnthonyS, Fort Worth, TX on Thursday, January 27, 2011

Good Kit. Strong connections. I dont care for how it taps into the fuse box, but you can
always hardwire it.

Great!, now what.

Written By Dave, Orlando, FL on Monday, June 22, 2009

Love Crutchfield and their products, however, they kinda dropped the ball on this one. The wire harness is very easy to install, but doesn't allow the back door speakers to work on my 2007 Audi A4. And crutchfield did not have remedy for this. Not too pleased with that, sorry Crutchfield, this time you dropped the ball.

Easy peasy

Written By Matthew, GA on Sunday, June 07, 2009

The harness worked great and was a breeze. My only complaint is the fuse box jumper wire required for key power. I'd rather it be worked in somehow other than that way.
